Laughingstar lounged in the sunlight. Technically, they weren't supposed to be out and about while it was light outside, but she loved sunbathing and feeling the warmth on her fur.
Having the sun or not didn't really affect her hunting, seeing as she was blind and all. The only thing she really missed after she joined the nocturnal pack was the sun and its warmth.
Sure, Suk kept her heart warm (whether he knew it or not), but the rest of her body was a different matter.
So today found the wild dog happily dozing on and off, laying on her stomach, near the dens and in full view of the sun.

Anastasia was having a tough time getting used to the sleeping habits of her new home. She was used to being up all day and sleeping at night and was having trouble getting used to it sadly. She liked the sun and was having a hard time not being out in it. Her maned wolf had told her she would have to get used to it if she wanted to be apart of the pack but she just couldn't.
So she was up and about, gathering different herbs and plants she was lacking in her stash. It was usually Baka's job but Ana felt as though she could do it just fine today.
She had paused beside a tree, pulling bark off it with her teeth.

Laughingstar's ears pricked forward, then back, then to the side, and then forward again. She heard something, and unless she knew of another pack member being up and about during the day, that meant that a stranger had come.
"Hello?" she called out, slowly and carefully rising to a sitting position while her ears were on sharp attention to try and catch any other sound the stranger made.
It sounded like...bark being pulled from a tree, but she had to be sure.
"If you're pulling bark, be careful," she offered a friendly warning. "It can cut your mouth and you'll be miserable for a week."

Ana paused when someone called out to her. She stopped pulling and gazed over at the voice, to the stranger who stood at an angle that suggested she didn't see healingwind. She blinked, reaching back to tug the bark off with one more swift motion before placing it neatly on the ground at her feet.
"-need bark-" She said simply, looking at the tree and nodding. She had run out of the tree's bark that was good for coughs and bringing up phlegm. "-run out. Need bark for cough-" She said simply, looking to the other dog to see if she'd notice her.

Bark for a cough? Oh, perhaps another healer. Or a healer's helper, trainee, or someone. That was more believable, at least. Laughingstar didn't know who the newcomer was--she didn't recognize the voice. And from how it sounded, the other female wasn't close enough for her to get a whiff of a scent from.
"Oh, I see. Well, would you like any help? You'll have to point me in the right direction, though. I can't see very well," she chuckled, pricking her head in the direction she thought the other voice was coming from.

Ana nodded knowingly. So the female was short of sight or lacked it entirely, thats what Ana guessed. She smiled softly, stepping down from the tree and picking up the small pile she had made, padding over to the stranger. Laughingstar happened to be standing next to her otter skin medicine bag, whether or not she would have scented the otter and found it strange or not.. Ana did not know.
"Come to you..." She said as she set the bark down beside her bag, opening the pouch that was esentially the otters head and shoulders, and pulled out many other smaller pouches tied with different knots. She pulled one open and slipped the bark inside. "No help but company appreciated...."

She heard the soft pawsteps of the other as she came closer to Laughingstar. Moments after, there were smaller, quieter sounds as the other female began to mess with something close by to Laughingstar.
"Well, I'd be happy to keep you company as you work. Are you a healer in the pack, then? Or perhaps training under one?" Again, the voice of this newcomer wasn't particularly familiar to Laughingstar, but then again, the pack was growing in size as new members were coming through every day.

Ana chuckled softly. Under another dog being taught to heal? "Healer yes... Teaching young lady to heal lately..." She said, recalling earthschild and her eagerness to learn the ways of a healer. "I learn from old dog... met her young age... she die after teaching ways of healing" She said, nodding her head slowly.
She gazed at laughingstar and noticed her eyes appearance. "Blind... yes? Why blind? Er... how blind?" She inquired.

She nodded, understanding. "That's good. We can always have more healers in the pack." Although it was sad that the female's teacher died after passing on her knowledge of healing, that was how life was.
"I've been blind since birth," Laughingstar replied calmly. She didn't think her handicap was truly a problem; it was just how she was. "I was born that way."
Ever since she was younger, there have been others who have made fun of her handicap, bullied her, and pitied her. She tried to shrug if off, but really, it hurt sometimes. It had taken her a while to build up a thick skin.

Ana nodded. So she was blind at birth... there wasn't anything she could do for her than. She stepped a bit closer to examine laughingstars eyes more closly, seeing no disease or worrisome things. They were healthy, albeit blind, but healthy. "Healthy eyes regardless of sight..." She said simply, stepping back and rummaging through her bag, as the female had reminded her to look to see if she was missing something in her pouches.
She nodded approvingly at finding the proper bag. "Proud of blindness... yes.... I hear it in voice. No shame in it... none at all... just work harder... smell better... hear better..." She looked up at the female with a smile. "Braver... "

She could sense that the female had moved in closer, and Laughingstar obliged by not closing her eyes. Usually, if she met someone new, she kept her eyes closed so the other creature would not be frightened or anything. But since she had forgotten, and the healer seemed to not mind so much, she hadn't thought anything of it. So she kept her head still and her eyelids up until the healer made her simple comment.
"Thank you," Laughingstar murmured in reply. She was glad to know that although unseeing, her eyes were still healthy.
"Again, thank you," she repeated, blushing a little. "It is harder work, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm Laughingstar, by the way." She grinned.

It took ana a few moments to remember her own wolf name. She sniffed her nose, looking back to her workings for a moment before recalling "Healingwind." She said, blinking her soft eyes with a smile. She rather liked that name, and her appretice earthschild appreciated it as well. She was like a healing wind some days, silent yet there always.
She sat back for a moment. "No need to thank... Is a gift... one way or another... is a gift.." She said, her ears twitching as she slid her paw over her otter skin bag. "Must be strong to be able to do normal life.. without sight"

The name fit the female well, since she was a healer. Laughingstar nodded her approval.
She only heard the noises as Healingwind prepared or messed with her healer's bags. She had no idea what the bags contained (herbs, probably, but she didn't know what kind and what they were used for), or how many she carried.
"It's true," she chuckled softly. "I don't get anything good out of it when others offer to help me. But I wouldn't change it, even if I had the chance, by some means."

Ana felt the same in a way, she never felt her speech was a hinderance to her life. She found it made her unique and she liked it that way, eve nif it made it hard for others to know what she was saying. She gazed at the lovely wild dog and beamed.
"Ana should be getting back to duties... have work to do..." She said softly, standing from where she was and picking up her Otter Skin bag, slipping carefully over her neck. "Nice to meet Laughingstar. Maybe meet again." She pressed her nose against her new friends shoulder before turning from her and padding away from the wild dog without another word.
