Not only do i highly sugest this book, but i would also like to discuss it with those who have read it. I found this book very eye opening to reality. I read it in 8th grade and only after about a year or so did i realy understand it. this book served as a warning to me.

I love this and been wanting to read it agian. I just bought it so as soon as I get done reading the book I am at now I going to Reread it. I think the end is my fav part. At the time the ending seemd bad but the more time I spent thinking about the more I relized that it was the only good way to end it.
I can't wait to talk books (mostly this one) with you and others

I love this book! I've read it twice, once when I was a little to young to fully understand it. Best ending I could have imagined! A lot of people I know hated the ending, but I think it really does serve as a warning. Have read Brave New World? It's a good book to read in partner with this one, since the situation is somewhat similar, but at the same time it has its own thing going. It's got some parts that are fairly risque, but nothing too detailed, if I recall. And the risque parts aren't done in a smutty manner, they're actually necesary to move the plot line and create the world the characters live in.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, been fairly busy. I have to agree with both of you on the ending, it needed to end like that, with betrayal. With all the previous events that happened, it just fit. Now i think this book should become required reading in the public school system and across the world, to serve as a warning to those who are paying any attention to the course of this world. I won't go too into specifics unless someone wants to but my reasons are fairly simple.

I was going to mention Brave New World as well. These books are fairly good, and BNW in general is very believable. A lot of what it predicted has already happened. But what I think is an even better warning type book is Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury.

Fahrenheir 451 and 1984 have many things common, but 1984 is a total surpression of society, that's socital supported. 451 on the other hand deals specifically with the banning of books, and control of the written idea.
