That feeling... the feeling where you can feel your body waking up but fight ever urge of it, just to stay as you are in your dream like state for just another few moments. To be engulfed in the warmth of her fur, the security of her light embrace even as she sleeps keeping the other safe from everything the world could throw at them.
It had been quite a while now, a number of days, weeks... months, Liqui had lost count but she had no desire to pin point the perfect experience to a time period. All that mattered was that after everything she endured she was rebuilding, growing stronger than she ever had and with her... her best friend, perhaps more. Xnah had been the beacon of her recovery, her everything and for the time being the awakening lioness had no motivation to leave, or return to her over protective family. The protection Xnah offered was more comfortable, more exhilarating, there friendship blossoming into more as the two spend there days and into the nights doing everything together.
No longer able to fight the waking desire her body washed over her senses she cracked open and eye and let forth a hearty yawn, hadn't they only settled for a nap? Hadn't the sun been gone replaced by the moon? Liqui let the thought pass as she lay continuing to wake with her head on Xnah's rear, the other lioness had presumably taken the same position judging by the weight on her own rear. The two females making a alternative to the yin-yang's with there body, and though Liqui had no idea if her companion had awoken too or even been awake before she expected her movement in this close proximity would give her the answer soon enough.

Xnah let the air escape from her lungs in a rather loud yawn as her whole body extended into a stretch. As her eyes flitted open she gave a soft smile, recognizing the sleeping mass beside her. Leaning around, she gently nuzzled against Liqui's cheek, only to realize she had been the first to wake, not Xnah. "Is everything alright?" She questioned in a soft air, her mouth lingering close to Liqui's ear as she pulled her closer (if at all possible) with her arm extending around Liqui. Her own body was already responding in a quiet purr, she had been purring a lot these days, never wanting these small moments to end.

With an instant smile Liqui was brought back to the world around her, leaning into the nuzzle and allowing whatever space still remained as they awoke to be closed once more. "Everything alright." Liqui spoke gently, smiling and amused, it had been a long whilst since she'd been the first to awake, she kinda liked it and understood why more often than not she woke up to a smiling Xnah. Often she'd pondered about the notion for the other party, wouldn't it be boring to just lie still, watching the other sleep, desperately trying not to make a move and awake them from the bliss, it all seemed to make a lot more sense now.
When Liqui broke her chain of thought once more to Xnah's arm extending around her she took the moment to roll over onto her back, relatively remaining in the same position else wise. Stretching out her tail and each limb in turn now there was no worry of waking anyone up, her smile never leaving her lips, it was all just perfect bliss. In fact she found her own purr muster its way out into a small vibration throughout her entire being, not daring or wanting to fight it an inch.
"You should stop letting me sleep like that you know, I keep telling you, having you with me has helped me loads, I'm much better now, thanks to you." Chuckling she flicked her tail and ran it along the nearest part of Xnah, turning her head to show her delight, it wasn't until then... looking over to Xnah she caught something in the corner of her eyes that made her froze, emotion draining from her face entirely.

Xnah couldn't help but smirk. "But... just because you're doing better doesn't mean you shouldn't sleep still. We both need our strength, and I don't mind letting you sleep, for as long as you would like." Xnah shivered at the touch of Liqui's tail and moved down so that she could give her a small kiss to Liqui's cheek. Her eyes didn't spot anything that Liqui had, so when the other lioness froze it caused Xnah to muse. "Did I do something wrong?"
A confusion began to set in and Xnah moved back, wondering if she had moved too quickly or caused Liqui to become uncomfortable. Sure, Liqui kept assuring her from time to time that everything was better for her, but in the back of Xnah's mind she couldn't help worrying. Yes... worrying. Xnah knew better but ever since she had had her cubs she couldn't help it, it was a deep part of her now no matter how she tired of it. Now sitting, Xnah's ears were slightly back. "If I did I apologize... I..." She couldn't find the words to say how she felt at the moment, completely missing why Liqui's demeanor had changed.

In the instant she had spotted them even out of the corner of her eye she knew what they where, but nothing more and that along gave her unnerving flash backs that caused her sudden change.
All at once as the sun caught the glass exterior her mind zoomed past all the bliss, all the perfection to the last time she had held such a sight, in that droll cave with... him. She'd known she was carrying cubs before the smoothies had appeared, the demonic spawn causing her all kinds of pains and signs that no other would experience, she hadn't known better then. And just there in the sun, everything got darker, and a evil laugh bounced about her head.
It took a number of Xnah's words before the memory was shattered and she came racing back to the present, that was the past, this was different but still what... what did they mean, why where they here?
Opening her maw Liqui forced out her first words, a quiver held in her voice as the past emotions lingered "N...No..." Blinking she fought it, she could hear and feel Xnah, and thats all she needed, to banish the memory's and keep her in the pleasant now. Shaking herself as if angry at herself for lapsing, she took a deep breath and squinted away the threatening tears "No, Xnah never you." She inclined her head towards the glass smoothies in front of her and Xnah, "They... I'm sorry Xnah, it wasn't you I just saw them and.." She bite back the ending, embarrassed to admit to where her thoughts had instantly gone, smoothies had been created out of love, despite anything else, she'd seen her siblings as smoothies, it was disgraceful to herself that the first thing she'd thought of was.... him...
Without moving Liqui stayed in place, still partially recovering as she waiting for Xnah's response, unwilling to approach them on her own, it had to be a good thing, it had to be but still... it lingered inside of her and this was defiantly one of those times she needed to lean on Xnah for support.

The way Liqui was acting caused a panic to rise up in Xnah's being. The first thing she could do was to close her eyes and tell herself that that wasn't what was happening, that there had to be a better explanation. She knew Liqui better than that, didn't she? Didn't Liqui know her better?
When she heard Liqui's words her eyes opened. She saw who? Was someone trying to hurt her?! Xnah's panic was replaced with anger until she swiveled on one paw, her jaw dropping immediately the moment she saw the glass containers. Why were they here? Xnah's eyes immediately went to Liqui in a pleading manner. Had Liqui been with another male? Was this all a dream? Was she making up everything she had thought happened between them. Ears flicking back, Xnah nuzzled Liqui against the cheek before she decided to go investigate the two glasses...

Closing her eyes at the embrace of the nuzzle Liqui felt herself calm, through her confusion settled itself firmly. This wasn't then, this was now and now was with Xnah. As Xnah moved away to investigate the glasses Liqui found herself following, now curious herself, she'd been with no other, in fact there had barely been a long enough moment for either of them to produce these with another, past and experience had taught Liqui that not every encounter with the opposite gender resulting in cubs... So there had to be another explanation. Perhaps someone had just dumped them? Seeing the two lovingly sleeping with each other.. maybe..
Many different explanations swiveled through her mind as the two approached silently, neither one knowing what to say about the situation apparently. It wasn't until the lioness got closed, taking in their scent and examining their patterns.. the colors... well she recognized one of the smoothies colors but not the other, but the scent was the telling point.
These two glasses they.. "They smell like us... Xnah?" She looked to Xnah with not only curiosity but hope shinning in her eyes, she'd not even considered being a mother again, she'd failed so badly last time. But of all the lions and dragons on the Isle... if this.. if these where really a combination of herself and Xnah well.. She couldn't think of anyone else she felt the way she felt about Xnah, no-one else better to raise a family and no-one else she felt more suiting, despite her childhood beliefs. "Are they..." Her tone changed, hope and joy gleaming through and abolishing the small confusion she now held, if they where theres.. how? "Ours?"

As soon as Xnah's eyes laid upon the two smoothies she swallowed hard. Their colors... patterns... scents... there was no mistaking. The second one... looked like both of them. It had Liqui's teal... xnah's black and gray... and their brown. But the first one. The first one looked nothing like Xnah, but as she looked at it she knew it was hers, there was no mistaking that blue color, it hadn't come from Liqui, it came from her... it came from the female that gave birth to Xnah... the one who had abandoned her. That smoothie... that smoothie looked almost identical to Tanee, Xnah's mother.
Xnah sat down, not daring to come closer as something began to sting in her eyes. Two small dots of water began to grow until the tears were too heavy and fell down her cheeks. "They're ours." But despite the tone being happy there was a sadness in the way she spoke. "The second one looks just like us." She stated, her eyes opening with a faint smile on her lips. "The first.." She pointed toward it. "...Looks like a mix of you... and my mother." It was that statement that caused her lips to descend in a downward motion. She swallowed again, her blurry vision moving up to look Liqui in the eyes. She managed a small smile but it was definitely bittersweet as her memories were flooding through her childhood. "Please... tell me we'll... be better mothers than she was..." The last bit came out as a whisper.

Liqui watched, as the emotional maelstrom over took Xnah's face and instantly moved closer, to some the situation may of been awkward but now there was no doubting it and Liqui revealed in the glory of it. In and instant she'd moved from the other side of the smoothies to shoulder to shoulder with Xnah, enjoying the return of the body heat and warmth that emitted. Her tail quick to entwine with the other lionesses, holding it securely and lovingly, and though she worried for the cause of Xnah's sudden change Liqui had no cause to believe it was her doing and would support and comfort, just as Xnah had her for so long.
It felt bizarre to have the tables switch once again, twice in one day and these smoothies, it was a day of life changes, and the thought only increased Liqui's confidence.. this was her second chance, at life, at everything. Moving closer still Liqui gently licked away the first of the tears that came to the other lionesses eyes, nuzzling slightly at the wet fur.
Lowering her head and moving away she nodded, a tear coming to her own eye but not of pain and despair, of happiness and overwhelment, the confidence swelled "We'll be better.. than her... than I... together..." She looked up now, the last of her tears running down her cheek and her smile beaming the new found confidence. "Together, we'll be the best, I promise. This time I'll be there, I'll be the mother they need, we both will.. Xnah.. I..."[ She cut herself off, the feeling of everything wanting to explode up she couldn't help but let a chuckle slip out. "You where right, all along, about everything."

Xnah's lips quivered for a moment until they finally pulled into a small smile. She moved her head to lay it against Liqui's shoulder in support, her eyes not moving from the two smoothies. "How did this..." She began her statement but then stopped, just smiling. She knew how. "Did I ever tell you... my first litter... Drodan and Ainsley... I.. wasn't their only mother. And that wasn't the strangest thing. They had no father. They just... appeared.. like this. Well... a little differently, but still." She wetted her lips and shifted her eyes to glance at Liqui. "Maybe... we have an angel looking out for us. Someone who knows that we both need a second chance to get things right." Moving, Xnah finally came toward the two glasses, sniffing them and giving them each a nuzzle. "Welcome into this world... my children... This.." She motioned up toward Liqui, "Is your mother Liqui... and I am your mother Xnah.. and we both promise to be the best mothers we can be. For both of you."

Liqui went to express her confusion over the situation but before he maw had fully moved into a syllable Xnah had began telling her story and the lioness leaned her own head down onto Xnah's. Of all the things they'd shared these last however long she had never heard this story, it had never occurred to her about the other party, she's always just assumed it had been a male. Inside her own head she scorned herself, for the traditional male and female love she had always believed in, always denying the love Xnah had searched for in another of the same gender.
Here, here in front of them and in this moment, in all the moments they had shared throughout their lives, was the defining truth, love knew no bounds.
It felt as if Liqui's head had just cleared off a fog, here she saw everything without the stupid how and should's she always believed of her life. This was love, and this was hers, a love that could do anything, that not only just felt 'in place' but empowered her, filled her with strength unlike anything else. Her comical quip was indeed right, Xnah had always been correct and she cursed herself for never being open minded enough to believe. To just believe.. that the love of her life, her one had been with her, in front of her since she could remember taking her first steps.
As soon as Xnah moved, Liqui nodded in agreement "Angels... now thats something I can defiantly agree on" She smiled, remember Nem... the male lion whom had come out of no where and rescued her from the abyss that had been her life. Even managing to bring two of her children into the real world, and giving them all another chance, after everything, and here... here where Xnahs and her's smoothies, a miracle in itself.
Smiling she moved forward, eying the two smoothies again with escalation building with every step, as Xnah spoke Liqui felt a new feeling of pride well inside her. Second chance... this time everything would be how it should be, and not by tradition, by the real world, by love. Leaning down she joined Xnah again "Welcome little ones, nothing can stop your mother and I's love for you, we're going to be the best, and you will always feel our love, no matter what." With that Liqui leaned over and nuzzled Xnah on the cheek, whatever had held them back had been abolished today, despite the short amount of the day that had passed.
