I am by preference a socialist. Meaning that society should work for society and that there is no higher ideal.

Whenever I run into the concept of communist though I find judgments and different ideals then those which I tend to hold dear.

I lived for a period of time in a "commie house" there were policies concerning equal sharing of food and taking care of each other but by the end I noticed the curruption of ideals which is apparent in many application of these practices.

Alleged communists in this case seemed to run into issue after issue concerning a sense of entitlement and derision of others. It made me quite sad by the end. Why is it that a person just because they do not wish to share is called a facist? The concept of equal ownership for unequal effort does not jive with me. The concept of coddling people who do not wish to take care of them selves, who do not wish to attain a sense of self efficiency hiding beneath the guise of not wanting to be a part of the establishment does not sit well with me.

The concepts involved are quite easily exploited and the underlying concept which has been drilled into most from birth seems to still exist in the communist ideal because its reactionary. Inevitably I see all as the fight against entropy. Self destruction lack of movement lack of effort all is giving into entropy and all is taking away from the system. Systems exist because we create them, we control them, we are their guiding principals and if we don't like them we Change them. How do you change the system by making effort and with enough effort and enough people change can happen.

Calling people Facist and leeching off others work doesn't really seem like a way to accomplish much.

This is just me venting BTW. Self proclaimed communists sometimes piss me off. My theory has always been that if a person does not wish to participate in society then they can leave it and make their own.

I'm not sure what "communists" you're meeting but what the hell is a "commie house" ? From what you described it sounds more like anarchist silliness.

There are two types of people who proclaim they are Communist:

Type 1: A person who is an actual Communist, studies and and agrees with Marxism, and believes in it.

Type 2: People who say they are communist but have never even cracked the binding on any Revolutionary work and are mostly just pissed off with mommy and daddy because they wont buy them an I-pod (actual real life example). OR Theyare people who have read Marx and Lenin and don't understand it the way its meant and try to implement something they think is communism and fail.

You encountered the type 2.

Mao was actually one of the few communist leaders who came from a low income background. He was a type one.

But yeah, focus on the movement, not leaders, take from them what is valuable and nothing more.

Che and C&C Red Alert are like your two most powerful marketing schemes, because most modern leaders aren't charismatic.

Eh, everyone has already said stuff, but:
The Marxists here are not like you describe in your story. For one thing, the aim is for large-scale change and also different sorts of change over time. Most of us do not advocate a situation in which "equal ownership for unequal effort" is even immediately possible, with the exception of those who cannot actually work for reasons outside their own control.

Erm, that sounded very general. xD
