Wingu lay upon a rock, eyes looking up at the clouds as they gently floated by. His tail flicked back and forth as he imagined all kinds of things. Each cloud was a different shape and he could have swore some of them were shaped like lions or elephants or rocks. That made him laugh a bit. A rock shaped cloud. Of course that also made him think, if there was a rock shaped cloud then surely there had to be a cloud shaped rock. Maybe he would find that rock some day.

Another cloud floated above his head. This one was long and thin. His eyes squinted a bit at it. Well that one was kind of like a giraffe, if you tipped your head at the right angle of course. Wingu's eyes left the clouds for a moment to glance about, but there wasn't much of interest on the ground. That was why he always seemed to be looking towards the sky and dreaming, much like he was doing now. With his gaze turned back at the clouds he slipped into another far off place in his mind.

Fara studied her sleeping cubs with a keen eye - they were wonderful little things even as unexpected as they had been. Fara had certainly never expected to become a mother but that wouldn't stop her from enjoying the experience now that she was. It was harder without a pride and she sometimes wished she had found a place to call home - a nice safe place to raise her cubs. But it was a little late to be thinking about that now and standing she made her way over to the only one of her children who was still awake.

"What are you looking at Wingu?" she asked the cub, casting her gaze upwards, she was pretty sure her little dreamer would spin off some tale about what he saw in the sky. Fara didn't mind - she encouraged his creative side.

Wingu smiled widely as his mother came into view. "Hi mama!" He said happily before pointing his paw at the sky. "There was a leopard playing in the sky, chasing a zebra. Then a giraffe with purple spots came along to chase all the birds away." Wingu's interpretation of the clouds and sky were always some what fanciful, but that's the way he liked it. Saying he was looking at plain old clouds was just boring to him, so he always tried to put as much imagination into everything that he saw or said.

As another large cloud floated by, followed by a similarly shaped but smaller cloud, Wingu stretched his paw out even more. "And there's a mama elephant taking her baby for a walk to find some leaves to eat." That made him giggle a bit and his tail flicked about.

Fara smiled at her son and looked up indulgently at the sky to see these 'elephants' Wingu was talking about, she supposed if you tipped your head and squinted a bit you could see the resemblance...sorta. chuckling slightly she shook her head and turned her attention back to Wingu "Yes they are very nice elephants" She told him after a few more moments of watching him watch the sky.

She encouraged Wingu's imagination but she did sometimes wonder where it would lead him in life, would he find someone just as carefree and playful to spend his time with? Or would he loose his fanciful view of the world as he grew? Become beaten and downtrodden like so many others she'd met in her life. She rather hoped for the first choice but as with all parents she needed to face the fact that Wingus life would in the end wind up the product of Wingus' own decisions...and not her hopes.

"Are you going to watch the clouds all day?" She asked him "Or did you have any other plans?"

His smile broadened as his mother gave her approval of the cloud elephants. Had it been any of his siblings he told that to they would have argued with him that they were just clouds, nothing special about them. Tearing his eyes away from the sky he looked at Fara and then rolled onto his belly. "I can do other things." He told her proudly. Though honestly he didn't know what those other things would be.

"Mama do other things with me?" He asked cheerfully. Perhaps she would have a suggestion or two as to what they could do. And perhaps just this one time he could stay focused long enough to do that particular thing.

"Can you then?" Fara asked Wingu with a smile on her maw, sometimes she wondered if he could - she really did, but bless his little heart he always tried to do the tasks she set him to, and that had to count for something didn't it? Of course it did. Her tail flicked from side to side as she attempted to come up with an activity that would hold his attention AND teach him a valuable lesson. It was a hard task sometimes, more so with Wingu then with any of the others.

"Well.." she started after a bit of thought "I suppose we could go on a treasure hunt.." She continued with a slight nod of her head - yes she could disguise a tracking lesson as a treasure hunt, it seemed like a good fit to her and hopefully, just hopefully Wingu would learn something too.

Nodding he assured his mother that yes he could indeed do something else. For a short time at least. Wingu knew that sooner or later his eyes would move back up to the sky and he would be lost in a world of imagination again. He liked the world of imagination, it was colorful and fanciful and certainly kept his attention for much longer tha- treasure. Treasure?

Wingu snapped back to reality at the word and jumped to his feet. "Treasure hunt?" His voice was filled with enthusiasm. Tailed wagged wildly at the idea of a treasure hunt. Surely that could keep his attention for a while. Plus it just sounded like a lot of fun. "What we hunting for?"

Well that was a good question now wasn't it? Fara though to herself, she'd been pleased to see her idea caught Wingus' attention but hadn't really thought far enough ahead to answer that question. Of course she didn't have any 'treasure' and while prey might seem like decent treasure to her she was pretty sure Wingu would find it rather boring - oh well, he wouldn't need to know that until they got to the end now would he?

"Well its a surprise of course, I certainly can't tell you about the treasure until we manage to find it now can I?" She asked the cub "But I have it on good authority that there is most definitely a path that leads to treasure down by the watering hole" The watering hole after all could always be counted on for good tracks.

Doing his best to stay focused as his mother spoke he stared at her, not blinking. If he blinked then he would lose focus and wander off to that imaginary world again. Two words caught his attention out of everything his mother said, watering hole. Without even thinking Wingu took off in the direction of that watering hole. Only he was quick to realize that he shouldn't have done that and slide to a stop. Spinning around he began to run back to his mother.

"Can we go?" He was prancing in spot waiting for her to agree. After a few seconds he couldn't want any long, and took off again, albeit a bit slower than before. He wondered just what kind of treasure he would find. Would it be shiny? Or maybe large? Could he bring it home with him once they found it. The questions scrolled through his head as he continued to run.

Fara watched as Wingu scampered off not once - but twice before remembering himself and coming back, though he didn't stay for long "yes we can go" She told him as she trotted to keep up with him. She of course had no idea just what they would find at the watering hole to track but she was sufficiently sure of her hunting skills to find something...

The trip to the watering hole thankfully wasn't all that far - long enough for Fara to think up a plan but not long enough for Wingu to get sidetracked by something else. Upon arrival Fara scanned the ground and then glanced back to her son "You must look on the ground - for a clue"

Look at the ground for a clue. Well, he supposed that made sense. Where else would the clues be? In the sky? Well that was a possibility but one that would horribly distract him from the task at hand. His eyes studied the ground carefully. There were all kinda of marks on her, hoof prints, paw prints and some random things he wasn't sure exactly what they were. Which one was the clue he was supposed to find.

Slowly he moved about from this spot to that spot looking for what may be that clue his mother was referring to. Soon he found himself at the waters edge. He glanced upon the waters surface and saw his reflection, that made him smile. But then something else caught his attention and his smile grew immensely. "Look mama! I can see the sky!" He announced as he brought his face closer to the waters surface until his nose came into contact with the water. That caused a ripple to form, followed by several other ripples, that floated out from that spot.

Oh that made the sky all wavy. All thoughts of the treasure and the clue he was supposed to be looking for had washed away, much like the ripples floated away from his nose. As the ripples faded he reached out with his left paw and gently touched the waters surface. Again ripples formed and flowed away from the point of origin. This was the neatest thing ever.

Fara watched as her son looked about at the ground with expectation in her eyes, surely he would find an interesting set of tracks and point them out to her shortly - but even as she watched he became distracted, by the water of all things. She sighed at her scatterbrained son but kept the look on her face pleased as she approached him to look into the water and the ripples they created. "It's called a reflection" She told him as he mentioned seeing the sky in the water "You might even see a fish if you look hard enough" She encouraged him as she knelt down beside him. No one said treasure couldn't be in the water after all.

"A reflection." He repeated as he glanced momentarily at his mother before returning his gaze to the water. He liked reflections, they were very pretty. Especially when it meant seeing the sky while staring at the ground. Wingu's eyes were glued to the water, trying his hardest to see any fish. Well he couldn't see anything but the sky. Did that mean that the fish were in the sky? And that he would need to look up to see them?

Tipping his head he glanced skyward. Well he could see birds, and some clouds, but no fish. His head turned to look to the left and then the right. Still no fish. His front paws lifted a bit off the ground as he looked even harder. But all too soon that movement unbalanced him and he fell into the water in a large splash. It didn't phase him all that much, and as he stood and crawled out of the water he looked at his mother with a slightly pleased look on his face. "I didn't see any fish mama. I might have scared them away." Giving his fur a shake to rid himself of the water that clung to him.

Fara took a few quick steps backwards as Wingu lost his balance and went into the watering hole with a giant splash, her whiskers pulled back in distaste - Fara wasn't much fond of things like swimming and water. Not really surprising - most of the lions she knew had a similar distaste. Wingu seemed to be the exception to that rule however and she couldn't help but give a soft chuckle at his remark.

"Yes you probably did" She told him "Fish don't much like loud noises" she agreed."But I think maybe you found a treasure anyways, reflections are a very pretty treasure and you can find them anywhere there's water. Its likes a treasure you can see everyday but never have to carry around" Yeah so that sounded a bit on the whimsical side and would probably have others she knew rolling their eyes, but this was Wingu.

Wingu smiled at bit. "I didn't mean to scare them mama. I really didn't." The last thing he wanted was to scare away the fish, he had really wanted to see them. Perhaps next time, then he would be more careful. His eyes moved to the watering hole and then back to his mother. "I really like reflections mama. They are very pretty."

Giggling a bit at the idea of a treasure that was always there but you didn't have to carry it around with you. He bounded over to Fara and pushed his wet head up against her legs. "Are there other things that show reflections mama?" If there were other things that could show him reflections then perhaps one day he could see those things.
