Triple Homicide
After this years Bud Shootout, I guess NASCAR wasn't satisfied with the way it ended and extended the Green White Checkered rule to three attempts rather than one. The result was a lot of torn up racecars. The idea that NASCAR for the past several years has been emphasizing safety as well as affordability for car owners doesn't make sense with this kind of finishing system. As a result of Green White Checkered finishes in the 2010 Daytona 500, eight racecars were needlessly torn up.
Aside from wrecking too many good racecars, it dragged out the finish of a race already plagued by pothole delays in turns 1 and 2. Potholes at DAYTONA! It's unacceptable to me. The last place you have track difficulties as well as bullshit rule changes are Daytona during the 500 no less.
This year NASCAR dropped the ball. Was it an exciting finish? Yes. Did three Green White Checkered tries make any difference? Only in the finishing order. For a sanctioning body who made a big deal this time about "letting them race", I think they took their eyes off the prize. A lot of those torn up racecars towards the end were underfunded teams with not many cars to begin with.
I like the idea of not ending under caution but i don't like the fact that it took out my driver that was at the front of the field on the
second green-white-checkered.
