Rules:
1. All of the normal shop and site rules apply here as well.
2.There are no weapons present in this event. Even if your character has a super-sized a**s that can engulf the world, he or she did not bring a rifle to the ball.
3. Confrontation is highly frowned upon at special events. Though your characters are there to enjoy themselves, they are expected to use their brains as well. Verbal fights are okay, but understand that fist fights and the like will be punished severely by means of latrine duty without gloves.
4. You're smart people. Use your big juicy brains.
5. Enjoy yourselves~

Eustace stood behind a podium in the front of a mostly empty room. She and the Captain and Lieutenant would be introducing themselves and Eustace in particular would be giving a speech introducing New Eve's new Lieutenant, Alirien Ten. The band's instruments were already set up behind her and the floor was empty except for a few tables in the corners in case people got tired and decided they wanted to sit. If the night ran long, there were already arrangements for beds to be made on the next floor of the building. Obviously, people wouldn't want to travel back to the forts after a long night of dancing. Those whose families were in the city could make arrangements to stay with them for the night, but after all of the festivities were over, all riders would be expected to go back to the forts and settle back into their normal routines.
Eustace had no qualms with public speaking now, though when she was younger, she probably wouldn't get an entire sentence out. She would have stuttered for half an hour with her own name if someone didn't come up and give her speech for her. Luckily for Eustace and everyone else attending, that wouldn't be a problem. She expected that Calla and the Captain of White Shadow (Alister, was it?) would want to say something, though she had no idea what. It seemed like it would be inappropriate if they didn't.
Someone had asked Eustace to be his date, an obvious someone, but circumstances prevented their arriving together. The Captains and Lieutenants, excepting one, New Eve's new Lieutenant, were asked to come first and see that everything fit their expectations before anyone would be allowed to enter. Eustace had already visited the upper floor to see if there would be enough beds and tested the acoustics (because with her relatively soft voice, she had to make sure that she would be heard). Eustace stepped down from the stage and spoke with the person in charge of setting things up. As far as she could see, everything was done well. Now all they needed was the okay of Calla and Alister and everyone would be allowed to enter.

The air wasn't as bitterly cold as it could have been, granted the sun had just set completely not an hour ago so there was still some of that lingering warmth blanketing the city. Of course his buisness wasn't purely pleasure at least not tonight. He'd made his arrangements for remaining in the city and not having to ride back to the fort at some obscene hour of the night because if there was one thing Twilight wouldn't do would be that. The wolf had made it abudantly clear that she had found herself a spot to sleep and she was not planning on leaving until morning unless it was to hunt. Shoving such thoughts from his head, he reached up to brush a few stray traces of snow from his shoulders and clothing. He wasn't exactly sure where Calla had disappeared to. All things considered he wasn't sure he wanted to know since Ana had dragged the Lieutenant off and chased him off after spending more than an hour fussing with his hair and clothes only to ship him out of the room at the last minute, her attentions turning to Calla like a dog with a new bone. He didn't envy the woman and never would. Anyone that Ana took a special interest in were generally doomed to suffer.
Trailing one hand through his hair and effectively fluffing it, as if it needed any more fluffing after Ana had assualted it with a brush for an hour, Alister cast a decidedly bored look around the room. Every thing looked as if it had been set up properly. There were more than enough chairs and tables to accomodate those who had been invited and then some. Then there was the slightly raised platform with the podium and the band area. The band was already set up, though the musicans themselves had probably wandered off to amuse themselves elsewhere for the moment. The ball itself wasn't starting just yet, though he had seen people milling about outside. Whether they were members of the forts or just general citizens of the city poking about to see what all the fuss was about was up for debate. For now he would prowl the building floor checking ever little aspect of it for something that was possibly out of place or just didn't belong.
His prowling soon had him drifting upstairs to examine the beds and other such amenities that had been set out for those who had no where else to sleep after all this was said and done. He'd fully planned on enjoying one of these beds rather than get stuck under the same roof as certain members of his insane family. Ana hadn't been willing to let him get away with avoiding his family and had pretty much forced a truce if only to keep the house in one piece and to get them all under the same roof. Making a mental note to ask Ana just why she'd been so hell bent on keeping them all together and under one roof, he was calmly and slowly striding downstairs examining the room from a different angle before turning his attention to the podium and the young woman perched there. "Good Evening Captain." he said once he was close enough to the woman not to ahve to raise his voice more than he needed to. He'd have enough of that once it came to doing the mandatory instructions and opening speech.

Like a convict fleeing the scene of the crime so Calla fled from Ana’s grasp. She had no particular destination in mind, except away from Ana and her make-up. After nearly tripping over the long dress she wore three times in as many seconds she hiked up the front just enough for her to be able to walk. It wasn’t her dress of course, she never wore such impractical clothing, she had borrowed it form Ana. Or more appropriately Ana had shoved her into the dress against her will. She had tolerated it though, even the unnecessarily high shoes. But when Anastasia had pulled out the make-up Calla put her foot down. Then her other foot. And had quickly left the room. She was sure Ana would come after her at some point but there wasn’t a whole lot Ana could do about it now that she was out of the woman’s grasp.
Unwilling to quite moving Calla made herself look quite busy, examining all the decorations and overall just busy about with a grumpy looked on her face. Not a difficult thing to do. Still, she wasn’t quite sure she had completely escaped Ana’s grasp. Quickly she decided she should probably make herself scarce and instead headed for the staircase. She knew it would probably be hell getting up those stairs in these heels but it was almost worth it to try to escape the blonde woman’s wrath. Glancing frequently over her shoulder in her paranoia she stumbled unsteadily up the stairs. Glancing around she zero’d in on Alister. With any luck the man would find it in his heart to attempt to protect her from his vicious cousin. She doubted it, but it was worth a shot.
“Remind me why we let that woman get away with this?” Calla grumbled as she came to stand beside Alister, still fidgeting with the top of the strapless gold dress. It wasn’t until she looked up that she actually noticed Eustace. As soon as she did though a grin broke out across her face and, without warning, she pulled the woman into a hug. “To think! My own Apprentice a Captain now!” She exclaimed cheerfully as she released the woman, “Tell me, will anyone be joining you tonight?” last she had seen Eustace the girl had barely been able to speak to another woman, let alone a man. But that girl had become Captain so who knew what else had changed.

Alirien hadn't been too thrilled when GoldDust had ushered him out earlier than he had to go. Really the less time he'd spend at the ball the better, though given the circumstances he isn't quite sure how that would go over at all. As long as no guys got too close he could deal with, he supposed. But still, it was no reason.. there WAS no reason for the wolf to n** at his heels and set him off to hurry up. She had nowhere to be, at least he thought so. Best not to ask. She'd abandoned him once in the city but he hadn't expected anything less. The place even now was a bit too loud for her liking, and the ball hadn't even been open for anyone but the staff setting that building up, and the Captains of both forts.
And one Lt., if that woman running inside before he walked down the sidewalk was who he'd thought it was. Since they were overseeing the final preparations, it probably was. Ali heaves a light sigh and shoots a disapproving glare up at a flickering streetlamp as he sets to just stand around and wait until the doors officially open for the rest of the forts to enter, and any recruits should they show up. It might be nice to be around someone much younger than himself again, not that he himself is old of course, but being stuck in the fort around the same group of people got a little old after a while. "Wonder how Dust is going to spend the night without me to get in her way." He grins to himself a bit at that as he crosses his arms.

Alexis sighed as she left her cabin in the skimpy dress her mother had given her what seemed like an eternity ago. She had to admit, she was a bit nervous about wearing it to something that all of her superiors would see - not to mention her date. Even though it was just a fling, and a fairly new one at that, she was still nervous to dance with anyone in such a revealing outfit. It wasn't necessarily like she had a crush on him and she was embarrassed about what he would think of her, it wasn't like that at all. It was more about the fact that everyone would see her. And they'd see him with her. Was it such a good date to go to the ball with him? Perhaps she should have gone by herself and met a nice guy there, at least that way people wouldn't think she was doing to for someone specific. Which she wasn't… Well, she was, but it wasn't Lysander - it was her mother. She had promised she wear it to all of the big events that she went to.
Anyways, it was a bit cold outside, but nothing she couldn't handle. Especially since she had opted for long boots that went up to her thighs, rather than skimpy high heels, admittedly though her boots did have high heels. It didn't matter though, as she walked quickly towards the city and where the ball was being held. When she finally did get there, she noticed that there weren't many people there and she didn't exactly want to be the ignorant person around and ask what they were supposed to do - get comfortable inside, or wait outside in the cold? So, she merely opted to stand near the building and wait for Lysander, and if anyone asked what she was doing, that would be her excuse - she was waiting for her date.

Though Eustace had been at the podium and had easily seen him walking toward her, she was a bit surprised when he spoke to her. For a second, she felt her old nervous jaw quiver. White Shadow's Captain was an intimidating man, though he hadn't raised his voice. He had an air of superiority about him which Eustace lacked and it was easy to see that he must be having an easier time with garnering respect than she was. Eustace tried to keep a stern, serious expression. Relax. Your rank is the same. He won't bite. She nodded toward him and greeted him in return, "And to you, Captain." And in another second, her body went rigid and for lack of a better place to put them, she clasped her hands behind her back and held them tightly in place.
When she noticed Calla approaching, Eustace couldn't help but smile. Not only had she not seem the woman in a long time, she was wearing a dress. It wasn't that it didn't suit her or anything, just that, given her personality, Eustace had half expected her to show up in a men's dress uniform. The thought reminded her of her own dress. She'd covered as much skin as humanly possible. The whole of the dress was black, with an intricate silver embroidered collar and cuffs. The shoulders and arms were covered with a sheer black fabric which made her self conscious, but it was comfortable. Where the sheer fabric met the plain black fabric on either side, there was more silver embroidery. The bottom reached her ankles. Short enough that she wouldn't trip over it and long enough that she wouldn't feel embarrassed walking around in it. It was nice as far as she could tell.
Calla seemed angry about something, but as soon as she looked up, that bad mood all but disappeared. Eustace was about to say something to greet her, but before she could think of anything or get even one syllable out of her mouth, Calla hugged her. Before hugging her back, Eustace instinctively looked toward Alister as if asking for permission or seeing if he would think lowly of her if she did. Wait. That didn't make any sense at all! They were the same rank for crying out loud and in two seconds she was treating him like- Her eyes widened. This is crazy! If only to avoid looking at him, Eustace closed her eyes and hugged Calla back. She almost didn't want to reply to Calla's statement as the two of them parted. With things the way they were, she didn't know if she could get out a single word without messing it up. And then Calla had to go and ask that one question that Eustace dreaded having to answer.
Of course, someone had asked her. Only one person dared to and she had wanted desperately to say "yes". There would be no way to keep their relationship a secret if if she did, but Clyde had wanted to take her as much as Eustace wanted to go. So, against her better judgment, she agreed. Though, with the way Calla was talking, it seemed like everything would be okay. After all, she knew that there was no Lieutenant and that the only option would be dating (or if she could get away with using it as an excuse, simply escorting) a subordinate. Calla didn't seem worried at all and there was no way that she would do anything that would hurt Eustace's career. But with that man there! Eustace didn't trust herself to say anything. So, looking at the floor rather than in the direction of either Calla or Captain Shields, Eustace nodded. She wasn't ashamed, but goodness knew that she didn't want to admit to being in a relationship in front of someone who reminded her so much of her father. In an attempt to change the subject, Eustace looked up to Calla and asked "Have you taken a look around and given your approval to the people setting up?"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lysander waved to his parents as he left his house in his Recruit's dress uniform. He was staying there for the night of the ball and maybe an extra day to reminisce. That way he could avoid using the beds above the ball room. He liked the idea of sharing a room with a ton of girls, but the guys and the fact that he couldn't possibly get away with anything naughty with all of those people there made him choose his parents' house instead. It wasn't like he'd never brought a girl home. It was irritating that he hadn't gotten a wolf yet, especially now after Alexis, his current source of booty, had gotten one. There was still time, he told himself. He had until he was twenty-one, at the latest and Lysander just knew that it wouldn't take that long. He sauntered down the side walk toward that building where the ball would be held. A couple people were gathered outside already. there was an uptight looking blonde guy to whom he paid little attention. And then there was a girl who he, after walking around to get a look at her front (because he would have approached any female there) recognized as Alexis.
Her hair was all done up and that green dress certainly did bring out her eyes. Before greeting her, his eyes took that well-traveled trail from her thigh-high boots to her big beautiful shining green breasts. Had they been that big before? Had they been that bare before? Lysander didn't know if that kind of dress was appropriate for this occasion (much less the weather), but he certainly wasn't complaining. After a second too long of staring at that one area, he finished the trail to her pretty green eyes. "Is it my Birthday or is there some other dashing gentleman here that I don't know about?"

Slim fingers played gently with black and blue hair. A nervous and shy Emi Cross sat on a sofa in her foster parents house as she waited to leave. At her feet laid FlameFrost who had refused to let her go to the military ball alone. It might have been that he was worried. Another reason might be that he simply wanted to see his mother. She personally had only seen the wolf once at the breeding cave when Flame had left for the first time with his siblings. He had grown since then, nearly a year old. Both of them were guessing that he would be standing around 17.4hh and 18hh or so.
Reaching down, the apprentice ran her fingers through her partner's fur. She was dripping with nervousness. That wasn't something that happened to often and normally she wouldn't be like this when going to a party but there were a few factors going into this ball. One, most everyone in both forts and probably the Academy would be going there. Then there was the fact that she was in a dress. A short on at that. Emi also happened to be flying solo. Not that she minded. Oh and let's not forget the fact that she was going to be seeing a bunch of old friends probably. Yep, and the hair, she needed to be careful. She went through a lot of trouble to get it straight and she wanted it to last the night.
Looking at the clock, the female sighed and pushed herself out of her seat. It's time to go, Flame, she told the blood red wolf, who got off the floor and padded after her. Grabbing a nice coat that would, more importantly, keep her upper body warm, she slipped on some knee high, sleek black boots. Out the door the pair went and started the short walk to the area the ball was being held.

Rayan pulled at his red collar, having opted to show up in his military uniform for appearances' sake -- or at least, that's what he'd be telling everyone. The fact that he owned no formal wear whatsoever had not been a factor in his choice of dress tonight, no siree. And the fact that he was slinking through the shadows of the city was not odd at all either, because he did that everyday! ...well, actually, that was somewhat the truth because he was often found hiding and running away from his crazy evil-possessed wolf. Yet somehow, the cursed wolf nose always found him in the end.
The reminder had him wincing as he rubbed his arm, where he was sure bruises were already forming under his black longcoat. Rayan threw another surreptitious glance over his shoulder, praying that he would not catch a glimpse of blood red eyes glowing in the shadows behind him. Fortunately, he was alone (for now), and Rayan breathed a sigh of relief. He'd known bringing Darkheart here was a bad idea, but it's not as if he had a choice -- the wolf litereally dragged him a third of the way here before he managed to climb his way onto the black wolf's back.
The entire fiasco started because Rayan (being the idiot that he was) had been feeling lazy and wanted the wolf to take him to the city. Borrow a horse? Definitely out of the question after his last horrible experience with those clumsy animals (which concluded with him falling on his face and nearly being trampled). Still, in retrospect, that would not have been as bad a fate as having Darkheart stalking the streets of the city and instilling fear in the poor residents -- boy, was he going to get reprimanded and definitely punished when his superiors heard about this.
Caught up in his own self-pitying, Rayan completely failed to notice a door swing open right in front him... BAM!!!
The world turned black and Rayan couldn't even tell which way was up anymore. After the pounding started to ebb away in his head, though he was still on the snow-covered ground moaning like a banshee, he finally managed to pry one eye open to see what stupidity had hit dared to hit him in the head. All he saw, however, was the swish of a red and white wolf tail. Squinting through the pain, he looked to the side and found himself looking at the very pretty back of a dark-haired woman in a really, really short black dress (aka Emi, but he didn't know that). Drool...
Unfortunately, the scene was filling with white dots as the pain once again rushed to his head, and Rayan covered his face moaning as if there was no tomorrow. But at this point, he really didn't think he'd make it to tomorrow. Then again, he'd count his blessings -- he wouldn't have to deal with Darkheart anymore.

"How did I get into this. Why did I get into this?" Shun Hades frowns one last time at the mirror before resigning himself to his fate. Somehow he had agreed, rather let himself be roped into, being the date of one of his fellow Privates. He would much rather have just gone in, have a look around, be seen, then get out. But no, how had she talked him into this mess? At least his apprentice wouldn't be an issue. Nightshade however was finding this all too funny. Ah he'd deal with that wolf later. After he'd gotten back, so that way he wouldn't be without a ride to the fort.
~
After waiting outside for a while, sending the new arrivals a very disapproving glance (Namely the male of the pair, why did he have the poor fortune of sharing that gender, why?), Alirien just shakes his head and promptly peers into the building after Calla's rushed entrance had time to pass by a good couple minutes. He really didn't need to make a bad impression on White Shadow's Captain and Lieutenant. Or, well, draw any attention from the male Captain in there. What was his name again? He should know this... Oh well, not really important yet.

Ana was going to have both Alister’s and Calla’s heads on a silver platter. Alister for fleeing the house as soon as he’d gotten dressed and she’d turned her back on him and Calla for fleeing even before she was completely finished with her ministrations. Ana wasn’t exactly pleased but she wasn’t going to go stomping through the streets and into the building where the ball was being held. Nope, Ana had more class than that. She’d get back at those two in one of the few ways she knew how without getting downright vicious. For now the young woman merely hiked up the front of her dress, taking delicate steps across the ice slick ground. Ana knew how to walk in heels, on the city’s crooked streets but when the streets were ice slick like there were, she was cautious. She had no intention of breaking a few bones before she even set foot in the building.
The heels gave her an extra three inches of height would put her at eye level with her lovely cousin, not that she needed to be eye level with Alister to dish out her brand of revenge. Oh no. She didn’t even need to be next to him. She was after all going to make use of her position with the band before the night was over. After all, who would Ana be without roping her cousin into showing that he was partially human? Certainly not a devilish cousin for one. Flicking her hair over her shoulder, Ana kept up her delicate pace pausing outside the partially shut door. If the door wasn’t fully open that meant the ball hadn’t started yet so she was still early yet. Letting out an breath of annoyance, the blonde settled herself near the door, back pressed against the icy wall. Her shoulders and back were bare, save for the thin shawl she wrapped around them but that wasn’t exactly much help against the wind and cold anyway.Had Alister not been trying to keep his composure in the presence of New Eve’s Captain, he might have given into the fit of laughter that threatened to overwhelm him. Ana had actually gotten Calla to wear the dress. Yes it was one of Ana’s but that wasn’t the point of it. It was the fact that Calla, was wearing a dress. A dress, something he’d never thought he would have the grace of seeing. Especially not when Ana was always hell bent on murdering him for something or the other. Head tilting to one side he merely gave a bemused smirk when Calla appeared next to him. If she was hoping for salvation then there would be none to find because Alister would hand Calla back over to Ana at first glance just to keep his cousin off his back. ”We let her get away with it because there’s no other choice?” He wasn’t lying. When It came to Ana there really was no other choice other than to let her have her way. She was generally appeased faster if she had her way and she usually left faster too.
Taking a calculated step back when Calla decided to pounce the younger woman, Alister merely nodded in acknowledgment of the returned greeting. Calla was likely to smother the young Captain from the looks of things but he didn’t dare say a word. Let her menace someone else for a while. He didn’t need Calla on his case right now, or anytime soon for that matter. There was something about the New Eve Captain that had him on edge slightly and he had a feeling that the feeling was mutual. The woman wouldn’t even look at them much less speak. If he made her uneasy there wasn’t exactly anything he could do about it, so they would all have to make do with it.

She didn't know why she was here, honestly, or why she was even bothering. It wasn't like she knew any body on the compound really, she'd been keeping to herself in order to remain focused on her duties and training. So she had to ask herself, as she came to a stop in front of the building in which the Academy's annual ball was being held, why exactly was she here?
Letting out a sigh, a heavier one then she honestly meant to let out, the pale form of one Serenity Everheart started moving once again. The light layer of snow on the ground crunched under her heels and made her feet cold (this was what she caught for more trying to sneak up to the door then just walk on the worn path) and she quickly had to smother a whine. It was her fault, she had to remember that - no one to blame but herself.
And with that thought in mind she pushed herself foreword more until she reached the inside of the building and it was too late for her to back out of it now. Attending the ball would be good for her, would force her to get used to social functions and perhaps she could make some friends. She couldn't hide a wary look at having to actually throw herself into a social situation.
"Oh man... I seriously do not belong here," she whined softly as her hands made quick motions to smooth out the skirt of her dress and attempt to make herself presentable. "Maybe I should have tried to get a date."

╔══════════════════════════╗ ║ πλεαςε λετ τhις νιγhτ λαςτ fορεvερ .║ ╚══════════════════════════╝ Alexis shifted her gaze nervously, not used to such open attention. Though she wasn't on duty at the time, she still felt quite uptight - perhaps it was because it had been so long since she had done anything other than practice, and the fact that she had finally been promoted to Private Apprentice. Though she was still in the process of finding a Patron, she couldn't help but feel like she had to present herself highly to impress anyone who might be watching. Pushing the feelings aside, a small smirk finally presented itself upon her lips as her date finally spoke and moved his eyes away from her very presented bosom. "Oh! Lysander, I'm so sorry. I completely forget that you were coming, and, well, you see someone else asked me. From White Shadow, of course." She teased. Though it was a bit cruel, she found it a bit entertaining to rub the fact that she had been sent to a fort in his face. She didn't want to upset him though, as it would have been quite embarrassing if her teasing turned into a scene, even if she doubted he would react so rashly to such simple teasing.
After a moment, she finally took notice of his outfit - nothing too out there, it was simply the standard outfit given to recruit's in case they had anything more formal to attend. As she noticed that, she had to wonder, 'Did I come too dressed up? Should I not have worn the dress?' To appease her wandering mind, she quickly glanced at the other members of the military that were outside, only seeing a few others, but happily noting that they were wearing something more than the given outfit. Finally, she decided that it was time to attempt to make small talk before they went inside. "So, how are you?" She asked calmly. Ι wαντ το δανcε τhε νιγhτ αwαy

Keahi walked though the streets as she head to the place where the ball is being held. It had only been a few moments since she finished getting ready at her parents house. But what surprise her the most was that they got her a gift. They need to stop treating me like a child, she thought with a sigh, but she shouldn't be too surprise. They were so proud and happy that she became a Wolfrider, and they like to show it with gifts once in a while. Once she was near the ball, Keahi took a moment to open her gift. Open the small, long box, Keahi found a headpiece. She let out a sigh before putting it on. He parents must have thought she needed it, since her hair was too short to do anything with it for the ball.
She started to head off to the ball again, which didn't take her too much longer to get to. When she did into view, Keahi saw that everyone was still outside. That meant that the ball hasn't started yet. This made her let out another sigh. For now, all she could do was find a spot to wait. Leaning against the wall, Keahi surveyed the other riders that were there. It was probably only a moment, before her shoulder's started to get cold, since her maroon dress left them bare. She rub them to warm them up, before her hand went to play with her necklace.
