i saw the movie before i read the book but i enjoyed the book more as it wasn't as childish as the movie even though the movie did retain some of the more darker qualities of the book like the kids dealing with the divorce of the parents in their own ways and the battle against the troll but i was dissapointed to find out they had changed the characters personalities from the books as our main hero was supposed to be more troubled and angry at the move and not get along with his mum all that well as well as hogsqueal was meant to be more cowardly and selfish as well as they left alot of things out like when they were running back from the goblins camp they lead them towards a lake troll which ate them instead of following them back to the house as well as their mum got taken to the trolls lair which was in a junkyard the final battle didnt take place at their house at all not to kention the elves they left out which played a big role in it they wanted the book destroyed and it was them arthur originally pissed off by not surrundering the book and arthur didnt take his daughter with him he said goodbye t her then stepped off the cloud of faires onto the ground and turned to dust. do you think the movie should have been more darker and violent or do u think they did the right thing by making it for kids?

I always read those books when I was in middle school. And the movie is really interesting, great adventure and keeps my interest. I don't think it's " to childish ", I just read anything that grabs my attention. I don't really care if some calls it childish, or silly, dumb, etc. I think it was awesome, but I guess that's just me? The movie it's self was good, no need to add more violence or more creepy. Kids ( who mainly read it ) would have night mares, then making the parents not let the kids watch it. Witch seems how the book is just a chapter book, they would have to make it a lot bigger. Seeming if they made it a teen or adults book.
