Welcome to the GOFD FAQs. This particular thread is for people who are either new to this guild or for others who need a refresher on how everything's run. If you have a question, be sure to view these FAQs before asking... oh and if some of these don't sound clear, let me know. These will be updated regularly. Anything that is in dark blue and italicized is new info from last update.
1. First off, what is GOFD?
GOFD stands for Guild Of Forum Discussion. And the purpose of this guild is to promote and provide a forum for people with anywhere from similar to different interests to have a place to post. Finding friends is also a goal as having friends is really important in getting the best out of this guild.
2. Do I have to be active to be a part of this guild?
If you don't post at least once or don't check back here often, you may be banned from the guild. Pretty much if you are recognizable by me and others, you should be in the clear.
3. How long do threads stay before they are deleted?
They can stay as long as they can but if a certain forum starts to build up, I'll delete what is no longer responded too. Repeated threads will be deleted if they are an exact or really close replica of original thread.
4. What rules have you established within threads?
Threads will also be deleted if flaming, trolling, or anything else that can be offensive show up within the posts. If an image within the thread is offensive, only the image will be deleted. If a link within leads to a website regarding hacking, pornography, or any other website that can cause damage to a user's computer the thread will be deleted in addition to anywhere from a warning to a ban on the poster's account.
5. Are you a stickler for debate?
Nope, in fact it is a good thing. It helps bring discussion and is also a way of proving a point to others on your end of the argument.
6. If I find material within the guild that is not allowed, what should I do?
Contact me immediately. Just give me a link to where the material was found and I'll act based on what the offense is. If other members post in these threads with either condoning or letting the offense slide, a warning or a ban can be implemented.
7. How often are contests held?
It depends on what is going on. Sometimes there will be a contest, sometimes there won't.
8. Are there any openings for any moderator positions?
There are no openings for any positions. As you members have the right to suggestions and also to whatever necessary change needs to be done, there is no need. I may change this if the needs for crew are necessary, but as of right now everything stands as it is.
9. How do I make suggestions and what suggestions can I make?
Sending me a PM would be the best way to get your suggestion or point across. I will listen to all suggestions that come my way and make a decision based on what it is.
10. What if I accidentally post a thread in the wrong place, what'll happen?
It will simply be moved to the right place. It's no biggie but if this problem persists, actions will be followed involving a warning. Anything beyond that could constitute towards a ban.
11. If I'm banned, is there a way I can rejoin the guild?
Yes but there will be a fine depending on the severity of the reason. You don't have to pay the fine but that will be your only way back in if you really want to rejoin. You could also defend yourself on what the matter involving the ban is, as in if whether or not the ban was justified. Provide reasonable proof, and I'll let you back in without a fine.
12. Will I ever need my cell phone for Guild Updates?
Cell phones will not be needed. All updates and announcements are done either in the main forum or sent through the Guild Announcement PM system.
13. I was invited by you, how did you find me?
Honestly, I go through the main forums on Gaia until I find someone who sounds like an interesting individual. After that, I typically look at the recent posts that have been made by the individual (ok ok I am stalking you) and based on that I choose who or not to invite.
14. Help, I can't seem to enter one of the Guild Forums.
One of 3 things may be the case here. 1, the forum is intentionally set up to where there can not be access to it. 2, it is under some form of reconstruction, things are being moved around and this prevents confusion. Normally these range from a few minutes to a few hours. 3, you could possibly be banned and can't enter the forums at all. Or lastly, I made a mistake and needs addressing immediately. PM me to let me know if access cannot be gained when nothing is happening to the forum in question.
15. Is there a way we can link accounts such as Facebook, Youtube, etc. to GOFD?
I don't necessarily have "link" button to any website, however in a few of the threads within the guild you can send me a PM of the website you have an account on and that can serve as a link to your account. Example: send me a PM of your Facebook account with its URL, and then I will update the "Facebook Users" thread by adding your clickable display name to the list. This will work for all websites, and let me know if there's one not listed that you would like to have listed.
16. How often will the FAQ update?
It is the responsibility of the member to view these FAQs on a regular basis as changes will occur at a moment's notice. The forum title will show when the change was last done so keep an eye on the date. Announcements regarding any changes may not be addressed so be sure to check up on the FAQs to make sure you aren't breaking any rules. Same goes for Gaia's TOS and GGN FAQs as those are also followed here.
17. What happened to the Guild Store and GOFD Account?
Both have been removed from the guild due to inactivity and just simply took up space. Gaia has a marketplace where you can purchase what you are looking for. If you can't seem to find what you are looking for, shoot me a PM. I can't guarantee I'll find what you are looking for but four eyes are better than two.
18. Are you rich and can you help me with my funds?
I am in no way rich (but that all depends on where you divide the line), but I could try my best to help fund you in what you need on the basis that it doesn't step far out of my reach. I am not afraid to disclose how much gold I have or what I may have in my inventory so feel free to PM me if something comes up and you want some help.
