Ok, so im doing reading for class tomorrow. The topic is riddles (and proverbs). There were a few good riddles. So im thinking it would be fun if I post a few riddles and you try to guess or post your own riddle and we try to guess what it is. One rule you cant do an online search to find the answer.
Here are mine:

1)What has roots as nobody sees, Is taller than trees, Up, up, it goes, And yet never grows?

2)Thirty white horses on a red hill, First they champ, Then they stamp, Then they stand still.

3)(This one sounds dirty but its not!)
What is it that a woman does sitting down,
A man does standing up and a dog does on three legs?

4)The one who makes it doesn't need it the one that buys it doesn't keep it
the one that sells it doesn't use it the one that's using it never knows it being used What am I?

5)This old one runs forever, but never moves at all.
He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?

6)Black I am and much admired, men seek me until they're tired.
When they find me, they break my head, and take from me my resting bed.
What am I?

7)Not born, but from a Mother's body drawn, I hang until half of me is gone.
I sleep in a cave until I grow old, then valued for my hardened gold.
What am I?

and lastly

9)What can go up a chimney down, but cannot go down a chimney up?

3--nope not dirty
5 think nature again
6 nope, but black is important

6, not the answer I was looking for but Ill say you got it because it matches the riddle so perfectly.

6 is coal. Hints--

1) like a skyscraper(as guessed), only nature made
2) Look to living creatures for this answer
4)Think fatality
5) Natural
7) Think about what people eat
9) think of something that is ridiculous to stick up and down a chimney in the first place (man made)

You could put it on pop corn, it be weird though and a little stringy. mrgreen

close, eggs come from the wrong animal though.

Really close but not quite milk... correct animal though. pay attention to the "until I grow old, then valued for my hardened gold" bit.
