Luci had released them at last. There was that distinct possiblity that the plague was beginning, and they were going to leave. When, Uuni didn't know, but it sounded soon. Tonight, she was supposed to get rest.
Something which she wasn't sure she was ready for as she leaned on Kesslan. They seemed to be leading each other, half blindly. Uuni was insistent on going to find Makereth, and Makereth was still with Avery.
Uuni wasn't sure who she wanted to see more. Wanting to see the second, she never would have admitted to. Then again, she would never have leaned this heavily on Kesslan before, nor would she have let the young rider be so pushy.
"I'm going to regret this in the morning," she murmured aloud. She squinted, looking off in the distance and thinking she could just see Makereth.

Was it weird to have a good time when quarantined? Probably. But that didn't stop the lingering grin that played about K'lan's wide mouth, or the frequent brushes between herself and the slight brunette at her side. Uuni's touches were firmer, more aggressive than ever before, and so were the blonde's in happy response. Uuni leaned hard against K'lan, whose arm was wound tightly around the older girl's waist.
She and the bluerider had spent the night giggling, when K'lan was entertaining the borderline-panicked young woman, and frowning, both drifting off on occasion into their own thoughts. It'd been longer than a turn, now that the blonde thought of it, since she'd transfered here, and there was talk of the weyrlings leaving for safety. Uuni leaving again. Would Avery follow her this time? K'lan wasn't welcome to, she knew.
She'd better enjoy this last night, then. "Going to regret what, Uuni?" Not Sunshine. She'd learned that lesson fast.
"Kesslan." The feminine voice was tinged with relief, affection, and most importantly, irritation and tan arms found their way around a paler, freckled neck. A firm kiss was planted onto a surprised mouth and Avery pulled away, scowling.
"These useless dragons haven't been telling me anything. A bunch of floozies down by the kitchens say you're all dying of some horrendous poison." Hazel eyes caught on Uuni, snapping from the blonde, to the brunette, and back before elegant eyebrows arched high.
"Well, don't you two look distraught."

"Having downed that. . . " Whatever word she was going to add was sharply cut off by a rather firm voice that Uuni recognized a little more than she would have liked. She was grinning, right up until the point Avery got up close and personal with Kesslan.
Well, wasn't this just a lovefest waiting to happen. You had Avery humping Kesslan and Kesslan all over Uuni, and the brunette was just waiting for this whole thing to snap down on one of them.
It certainly wasn't jealousy. Absolutely not.
There was a low chuckle from Uuni despite this when Avery went off. "The only thing I'm going to be dying from is your voice," she answered in retort and slid away from Kesslan to go lean on Makereth instead. She didn't like being so close when Avery was there. She regretted moving, but she would rather not have been made a fool in front of the candidate.
Another long grin was cast in Avery's direction and Uuni added, "I wouldn't mind getting quarantined again."

Avery's mouth formed a round 'o' as she prepared to go off again, egged on by Uuni's idle commentary. The brunette's bright eyes narrowed slightly and she lifted a finger, only to be cut off, surprisingly, by the leggy blonde, who was missing Uuni's clinging.
"Why don't we continue the lectu---conversation in my weyr?" It was private and they could relax. It looked like Uuni was ready to pass out soon, anyway.
Crossing gloved forearms across her chest, Avery considered the idea and nodding, letting one wrist loosely gesture in the general direction of said weyr. "Fine, fine, but once we get there you had best tell me everything."
With that dark threat, she turned on one fabulously booted heel and headed toward their destination.
K'lan was left to grin, her hand finding Condoroth's jaw to scratch before she followed after, her gaze having trouble deciding if it wanted to focus on Avery's hips, stalking away from her or Uuni stumbling beside her. Choices, choices, choices.

Uuni wasn't so certain she wanted to go to Kesslan's weyr. if that wasn't a disaster waiting to happen, nothing would be.
"Come on Makereth," Uuni told him. "Let's invent a fun, lopsided way of walking." Which was about the only thing she could do at the moment. Normal walking was escaping her. Makereth told her she was walking fine, but Uuni did not believe him in the slightest.
It was Uuni that made the choice to slide up next to Kesslan and allowed the greenrider to have both options.
Her voice was a whisper, but her words betrayed her inner curiosity too well. "So, uh, when did you and Avery get so friendly again?" she asked, nudging the girl in the side with her elbow. "You finally moved on?"

K'lan's tone was amused, light, but clearly unhelpful as she answered Uuni's question without missing a beat. She didn't mind letting Uuni's curiosity burn, and really, it wasn't any of her business if Avery hadn't told her.
"Oh, I don't know... When was it that you two stopped being friendly?" It certainly hadn't had anything to do with Makereth, that was for sure. Uuni'd been avoiding both young women like the plague long before that. They'd gotten a lot closer at this new, strange Weyr.
As for moving on, K'lan just left the grin on her freckled fast, good-naturedly taking an elbow or two before eyeing Uuni. "What do you care, gorgeous?"
Covering her irritation and curiousity with Uuni and K'lan's long time together during the quarantine [and their whispered conversation several lengths behind her], Avery's voice reached their ears, on edge, but still amused.
"Secrets don't make friends!" A humorous admonishment at best, but a good reminder that she was still here.

Uuni snorted. "We weren't ever friendly," she answered as though it were the most obvious thing in the world. "We were in bed for a while, but we weren't ever friendly." Which, she had decided, was just fine with her. Having to be friendly to Avery would be like driving a wooden nail through her own skull.
The question, however, caused her to wrinkle her nose. "I don't. Just, Makereth was asking." Which was, of course, a flat out bold-faced lie, and something that Uuni rarely did, but found it nessary in this case.
"s**t," she muttered under her breath, hoping Kesslan hadn't heard her. It was all Avery's damn fault. Her presence was like a damn sucking parasite on the good nature of her tongue.
Thank goodness for the distraction of Avery's voice which muffled Makereth's chuckle and gave her something to do.
"Don't worry too much, Avery. We were just talking about you." She winked at Kesslan and took in a deep breath.
She stayed talking with the woman in low tones all the way to the weyr. It didn't matter what about as long as she was making Avery aggravated with supposed 'secrets' and she was keeping Kesslan's hands at bay.
And once there, she wasted no time in flopping down on Kesslan's bed with a groan and flicking her eyes up the ceiling. "You ever notice how all the weyrs are the damn same? All rocky, ugly things. I'm just waiting for the ceiling to fall down and crush someone." Avery could go first.

"I don't believe you," was the blonde's quiet, sing-song response and she seemed in an even better mood than before, idly reaching for Uuni and smiling as the girl tried repeatedly to deflect her.
"In that case, do continue." Avery was never a bad topic of conversation, after all. People could talk about that for fortnights. Once inside the weyr, the curly-haired brunette cast a look about, nodding once in approval. Kess kept the place very neat, with her own forays into art about the place. Small carvings and figurines, a musical instrument or two. Condoroth was quick to settle down on her large ledge. She, of course, was a smaller green, so there was more than enough room for "little" Makereth.
Hearing unspoken ill-will, Avery shot Uuni a glare as she removed her gloves, dropping them onto Kesslan's desk. That stupid brunette, always clouding the issues and being generally distasteful. Taking a seat on the edge of the bed, she bent to remove her boots, a unbidden sigh coming from her chest she began to naturally relax with the familiar movements.
Kesslan had no qualms about dropping onto the bed next to Uuni, perfectly comfortable with the brunette's discomfort, and she glanced up at the walls. "I think they're kind of charming, actually. Guess that's what happens when you're weyrbred, huh?"
Avery laughed. "You do tend to find all sorts of crass things charming, Kessy." Like Uuni.

Makereth was, of course, plenty joyed to take the spot that Condoroth offer him and he curled up next to her, his eyes on Uuni, Avery, and Kesslan. There were things about him that he didn't understand. Well, everything, really, but he assumed Uuni would explain them later, or he would figure them out on his own.
When Kesslan landed near her, Uuni shifted out of the way and moved closed to Avery. It seemed, no matter which way she went, she was closer to one of them, and it was better the raving homosexual that. . . Kesslan.
"Charming?" Uuni answered, not having Avery skill in tongues. Well, not that sort of skill. "Kesslan, flowers are charming, a good meal might be charming, and snow is definitely charming." A subconscious glance towards Avery. "But, rocks are not charming." The idea was enough to make her gag.
"Don't any of you ever get me rocks. Not even shiny, pretty red ones. I am not wearing any rocks." Secretly, she might have liked it had Avery gotten her something. Even if it was a rock.
"I think I might be sobering up, finally," she said, out of the blue. That meant a headache was next. "No, wait, Avery, you still look pretty. Guess not."

Now the blonde was vaguely uncomfortable. Uuni's banter went from borderline witty to somewhat nasty awful quick and her serious brown eyes moved between girls in time to catch Avery's muscles tensing as she paused mid-removal of boot to put them back on and straighten up.
Hazel eyes gave Uuni a long, quiet look before she got to her feet, her honeyed voice a murmur. "Well, you certainly won't have to worry about an ugly girl like me giving you silly rocks." The curly-haired young woman glanced at Kesslan briefly before stalking out of the weyr and into the night.
She didn't even stop to grab her gloves from the desk. Kesslan was quiet for a moment or two, until "... What's wrong with rocks?" she offered.

The quiet was much too long for Uuni. It was plenty of time for her gut to sink into her chest.
She let out a long groan. "Next time, clamp your hand over my mouth, please," she said with a heavy sigh. She bit her lip, gave it a moment or two longer and then swung her legs over the side. The rock comment was ignored.
"Kesslan, you think you can help me out for a bit?" she asked, getting to her feet and heading to the wall to brace herself there. "I probably have to apologize." Which, for her, was an awkward state of affairs, nevermind not being able to finish her sentences.

"Definitely." It was an answer to everything the older girl had said and Kess sighed, brushing blonde strands from her face as she watch Uuni stumble about the living space.
At this point, Uuni could either follow Avery and have to deal with the candidate's irritation and defensiveness, or she could wait and deal with Avery pretending nothing had happened.
"We haven't told her that you're leaving." There was that whole issue, too. It was hard to tell if Uuni being drunk would help or hinder the situation.

Uuni looked back and glared at Kesslan, or what she tried to have be a glare, but came out more pathetic than angry.
"Later, tell her that later." She didn't want to be responsible for two bombshells at night.
"Kesslan," she repeated the name, exasperation on her voice. "Makereth won't fit in the candidates halls." She bit her lip, trying to think of a potential bribe to get Kesslan to agree. "I'll stop avoiding you," she finally centered on.
She could lie and say she hadn't been, but they both knew she had, so it was like a bargaining tool. Normally, she would have let Avery go. Perhaps her mind was too lost to realize she looked a bit like a child having lost their favourite friend.

It was too much for Kess, the pleading and the weyrling-eyes and the whole bit. Sighing, she shoved a hand through her pale hair and got to her feet, nodding agreeably. If there was one thing the whole Weyr could count on, it was Kess doing favors for pretty girls. Especially ones that otherwise wouldn't give her the time of day.
"Alright, alright. It's fine." Deal made. Truth be told, Uuni would probably continue to get away with avoiding her, despite this conversation. In fact, three more days and Uuni would be gone, period.
Anything to stop that whining, desperate strain in Uuni's voice.

Had Kesslan not been there, no doubt Uuni would probably have just lost her guts somewhere along the way and slept in the hall. Thankfully for her, Kesslan was just that good of a friend, and she wanted to keep it that way even if the whole Weyr came crashing down on her head.
When she reached Avery's weyr, however, she had a brief moment of regret. Maybe she should just go back the other way and pretend it hadn't happened at all.
She looked back at Kesslan, and then grimaced, realizing that wouldn't work. The greenrider probably wouldn't let her back down from this.
Speaking of this, what the hell was she doing? Opening with the weather never worked, but she couldn't just come right out and say 'i'm sorry' could she? How in Faranth's name did people ever do this.
Her hand caught onto the side of the chamber and she was quiet as she entered, her eyes adjusting to the dark. She swallowed as she stepped in and saw the woman there, absorbed in whatever it was she was doing. Always busy. It made Uuni feel like a lump on a log.
"Avery. I was just kidding, you know?" So much for not coming right out and saying it.
