A young winged filly walked happily through the thin layer of snow covering the ground glad to be away from her parents and brother for a little while. Aaricia giggled as she kicked up a little of the snow her tri colored stripes standing out in stark contrasts to the pure white color of the snow. Holding her wings tight to her body to reduce wind resistants she galloped across the ground with a cheerful shriek.

Keelin was lately down in the dumps, she never found that familiar sound that she heard while in her basket. She knew her sister was living life to the fullest and her little brother always seemed to stay near mom. Sighing she didn't pay attention to where she was going, only to the hoof prints she made into the thin layer of snow. It intrigued her. Her ears did perk up some when she her the playful shriek. Glancing around she could barely make out the other filly in the snow, but she knew she was there because of the pink stripes. Cautiously she made her way closer to the pretty young filly. Still a bit shy to speak up.

Aaricia slowed her wild run laughing and tossed her head as she came to a stop a good ways from where she began. Her ears perked up as she heard the snow crunch signaling the presences of another. Looking around she grinned as she spotted the other filly intrigued by her having only met colts before. She slowly closed the space between them not wanting to scare the other away. “Hi, I‘m Aaricia, what’s your name?” she asked once they where close enough to talk without shouting.

Leaning her head to the side some she glanced over Aaricia, still curious. "My name is Keelin, you can call me Lin if you like. Um..." She cleared her throat some before looking her in the eyes. "What are those on your back?" She never really seen wings before, she thought all soquili's were grounded since her whole family was. This filly didn't seem threatening to her, so already she gave a soft smile, feeling more at ease.

She returned the smile happily. “Lin,“ she said trying it out, “I like it.” She turned her head to look at her back to see what Lin was talking about. “O, those are my wings. I get them from Daddy. Mommy and Austin, that’s my brother, don‘t have them.” She giggled and spun around. “One day I‘ll fly with the birds. Do you like birds?” she asked curiously.

"I love birds, I love the sound of their wings taking flight into the vast sky. I just never knew others like me had wings like a bird." She answered honestly. "So half of your family has wings and half doesn't? How does that work?" She wondered ad her head tilted to the other side.

Aaricia blinked as she thought about it. “Well I live with Daddy and Austin lives with Mommy.” She giggled again glad to have met someone that liked birds as much as she did. “I like humming birds the best, they fly so fast and can just hover in one spot without having to land. How about you?” she asked not wanting the conversation to get awkward knowing that some lived with both parents and not knowing what her new friends home life was like.

"I usually roam away from my family, but my grandpa takes care of me mostly." She smiled more. "I've never seen a humming bird before, but there's a raven...or is it a crow..." She shakes her head. " Well anyways he lives in my grandpa's heard, he's a little coco, but he's funny and sweet still. Grandpa said when I get older he'll try to find me a bird familiar to watch over me." Talking about birds excited her. What made it even more exciting was that she met her first friend, or so she hoped.

Aaricia nodded her head. “Aunty Mizuki has a crow, his name is Yue, he’s very mischievous. Daddy said I could get my own familiar some day. I‘m hoping for a hummingbird. Do you have any idea what kind of bird you want?” She pranced in place excited about having someone to talk to about birds other then Daddy. As she bounced a feather came loose from her wings and started to flutter to the ground. Before it could land she gently grabbed it and tucked it behind Lin's ear. "Now you have feathers too." she said with a giggle.

"I'm really wanting either an Owl or a Hawk. With the hawk I have better protection, but with an own better knowledge." She went silent as the feather was placed behind her ear. She smiled as if she could cry. She was so happy to get her first feather. "Already I feel I can fly, thank you, but I don't have anything to give in return."

“That’s all right I didn’t give it to you expecting anything in return,” she said glad that Lin liked the feather. Aaricia frowned slightly confused. “What do you mean by protection and knowledge?” she asked not knowing about the benefits of familiars.

"Still, i'll cherish it forever." She smiled before figuring how she could explain more about familiars. Her grandfather told her more about them as well as she learned from them more by being around 4 different kinds so far. "Well I still don't know much about owls yet, but I figure with all kinds of stories about how wise they are, that if you ask them a question I bet they'll answer it. My grandfather did tell me that a Hawk would be best if I needed help getting away from any danger. The hawk will fight for you as well as scout ahead and let me know of any danger before it even gets close to me so i can run to safety, well that or if I am in danger and I send it out it can fly out and get help for me." She hoped her explaining wasn't to confusing. She had a habit of retaining information once given and it didn't stop her from informing others.

"Sounds interesting. I wonder what a hummingbird does, I hope its something good," she said with a giggle. She looked around, it was rare for her to stay in one spot for so long and she was growing restless. "Want to play a game?" she asked excitedly.

"Who knows, maybe you'll try to fly just as fast as the humming bird someday." Game, A game sounded like fun. She was so use to staying quiet and still that she thought maybe this would be good for her. "Sure, what would you like to play? I'm not well informed when it comes to games."

Aaricia thought a moment there won't many games she knew how to play yet. "Well we could play tag or...," she spotted a pine cone peeking out of the snow, "we could play kick the cone." She tried to think of any others in case Lin didn't like running. "Theres always hide'n'seek too," she suggested happy to have thought of something fun without be overly tasking to play.
