Amelia loved winter, it was her favourite season by far. She loved the snow, she loved the cold, she loved absolutely everything about winter. This winter was particularly awesome for Amelia, they had more snow than usual which meant more snowboarding time up in the mountains, and more playtime off the slopes.
Today found her in Destiny City Park, bundled up like you see in the movies. Knit cap with two long tassels that ended in white fuzzy pom-poms, a knitted sweater that she picked up at a thrift store, jeans, and a pair of warm boots. Oh, and not to be outdone a pair of warm fuzzy gloves. As much as she loved the cold the eighteen year old knew it wouldn’t be smart to get sick. She was standing at the entrance of the park rocking back on her heels. She wanted to have a snowball fight but she couldn’t convince Justin to come out with her, and she couldn’t have one by herself. Maybe she’d go to field where the snow was the thickest and make snow angels. Yeah, that was a good idea.
Smiling to herself she crossed her arms over her chest, and headed towards the center of the park. When she got there she unceremoniously flopped onto the ground, which soaked her jeans and threw her whole ‘don’t get sick’ plan out the window, and then lay back spreading her arms and legs out. With a big ol’ grin on her face she started waving her arms and legs making a snow angel.

In the distance, Grayson was huffing and puffing as he attempted to roll the butt of his snowman into life. He wasn't an ambitious man by any means, but he'd decided to at least attempt a snowman. It was something to do, anyway, other than sit on a bench with hot cocoa gripped between his gloved hands, staring into the distance.
A man could only stare so long before he either fell asleep or fell into melancholy thoughts. He was trying very hard to avoid melancholy thoughts. It was hard enough convincing his friends and family that he was just fine as it was; he didn't need to indulge himself in public and... well, he didn't need to linger in his grief if he could help it.
So, he was attempting to do what he did with all of his other problems: bury it. Distraction was a good tactic. Even if distraction had him bent over, butt in the air, as he shoved a snowball slowly gaining girth throughout a park. Some people laughed, some stared, some simply ignored him. He didn't really mind.
It wasn't until he saw he was about to run over someone making a snow angel that he called out, "Look out!" and barely managed to dodge her, executing a last-minute swerve.
Stopping, he straightened, hands on his hips, and eyed the base of his snowman. Darn it, it was definitely lopsided now. Tristan was the one who was good at this sort of thing, he thought mournfully.
Glancing at the girl, he admired her snow angel a moment before asking, "This is definitely lopsided, isn't it?"

Amelia was engrossed in making the perfect snow angel, it was the first one she made this winter and she wanted it to be awesome. She was so engrossed that she didn't realize there was a killer snowball rolling towards her until she heard someone yell 'Look out!' to which she responded by sitting up straight, looking behind her and going, "Oh s**t!" She twisted, covering her head with her hands, wincing and waiting for the cold, snowy impact, but....it never came. Slowly she lowered her hands glancing around, letting out a sigh of relief when she saw the killer snowball managed to miss her, if just barely.
Sapphire eyes moved from the snowball to it's driver and she arched a brow, curious as to what he was doing. It didn't click in her mind that he was making a snowman until he asked about the big snowball being lopsided. "Oh! You're making a snowman?" She took a moment to carefully extract herself from her snow angel, leaving as few hand and foot prints as possible.
Once she was out she brushed off her bum before circling the big snowball. "Hmmm, yeah, I'm afraid it is." Hands on her hip she looked over at him. "If you want, I could help you? If you roll it onto the lopsided side it could make a good base." She didn't think about the fact that barging in on his snowman making was rude, he was making a snowman! She loved making snowmen, and everybody liked help, right?

He surveyed his snowman a moment longer, his lips stretched into a thin, contemplative line, before he sighed. Yep, definitely lopsided. His snowman was going to be the Abominable Bubble Butt if he kept up the effort by himself. He chewed his lower lip, glanced back to the girl, and lifted his shoulders helplessly.
Then, she offered to help, and he grinned. It was fast and bright, and probably the first grin that hadn't been forced in days. The simple act of someone offering to lend a hand without being provoked inspired it, and without hesitation, he offered a hand encrusted in snow.
He was bundled up just about as much as she was, in varying shades of purple, as he said, "Grayson. I'd love the help. It's always more fun to have a partner when you build a snowman," he added, glancing back to his misshapen base.
Ol' Bubble Butt might actually be able to be saved.

Amelia seeing his grin, grinned back. It wasn't a flirtatious grin in the least, more of a 'yeah that's a great idea!' grin. The idea of being flirtatious didn't even enter her head. Reaching out she took his hand, her own gloved one covered in snow as well. She shook it firmly before reaching up and pulling her knit cap down over her ears more firmly.
"Amelia" She smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I love making snowmen though! And snowball fights, and snow angels." She could list off all of the snow activities she liked to do for an hour, she really liked the snow.
"Okay, so, do you wanna help me push it over?" She moved to one side, putting both hands against the snowball, ready to push it over so the lopsided bit was against the ground.

Grayson took the smile for what it was, a companionable gesture between two people, and felt a little better for it. He hadn't had much to be cheerful about in the recent days, and it was nice to just relax in the company of someone who seemed untroubled and enthusiastic about such a simple activity. Had he been out with Tristan, they would have probably been doing the same thing, and it made him comfortable.
Tristan was avoiding him a little bit just then, but that was all right. Once in a while, brothers needed their own space. Especially when one brother was feeling incredibly awkward about the situation the other one was in.
Tugging his gloves more firmly down over his hands, he nodded. "All right, let's see if we can fix this mess I made." Despite his words, his tone was cheerful, and he bent over to resume his position from earlier.
Unfortunately, being as tall as he was made his posture awkward, but he was getting by. It was all for the sake of building a decent snowman, after all!

Amelia's day was getting better by the minute. She met someone new who turned out to be nice, and even was willing to let her build a snowman with him. She made a great snow angel, and she managed not to get killed by the killer snowball. All in all it was a good day.
She smiled as he joined her at the snowball. "Alright, push on three. 1...2...3!" She pushed trying to get the ball to roll, it was harder than she expected. She hadn't made a snowman in a long while. Looking at him at of the corner of her eye she smothered a chuckle, he was so tall he was almost bent in half over the snowball and he looked pretty amusing. She didn't want to make him feel bad about it though, and didn't say anything. Though she couldn't stop a couple chuckles from escaping.

Grayson was well aware he looked ridiculous. He was the sort of guy who didn't mind that, though, so when Amelia chuckled, he merely grinned in response. The snowball was harder to move than it looked, which explained why he'd barely been able to redirect it before he flattened Amelia. He was kind of glad he hadn't, all things considered.
They managed to make it budge, the snowball rolling unsteadily before it turned on the side they wanted, and he laughed. "There we go."
Momentum gained, they began to push it along, the snowball weaving an uncertain path thanks to their dual influence. Grayson thought the misdirection was charming. "So, you make great snow angels..." He puffed out a breath, sending snow flying behind him when he almost lost his footing. "Let's hope you can save this snowman."

Amelia was starting to like this guy, he was easy going and he liked playing in the snow. It seemed like the start of a great friendship if you asked her. As they pushed the snowball the 5'5 girl was surprised at how difficult it was to get going, but then again, she was 5'5. Luckily with Grayson's help they got it moving.
"Huurng, they make this look so much easier in the movies." She laughed, her tone made it clear she wasn't complaining, just joking around.
As they kept pushing it started getting easier, and she started to focus on trying to keep it in a straight line instead of just getting it to move. A quick glance behind them showed how swervey their path was. His words brought her eyes back front and she managed to look over at him just in time to see him almost trip. Grinning she made a mental note to watch her footing. "Thank you! And it shouldn't be too hard..." She took a moment to catch her breath, "You started it off really well, it's just difficult with one person. And I don't think the crazy swerve to avoid rolling over me helped much." She chuckled, her breath coming out in white puffs. "Not that I'm complaining, getting rolled into a snowman wasn't on my list of things to do today." She grinned glancing over at him.
Unfortunately, it didn't seem like she was going to be able to save the snowman. A ringing sound came from her pocket and answering it a look of concern flashed over her face. A minute later she looked at Grayson apologetically. "I'm sorry, but I have to go. Maybe we can hang out another time." With another apologetic smile she turned running off.
