Has Yugioh began to lose its popularity?

How does it fair in your town or city? Its pretty much dead in mine. No one shows up for the tournoments unless I see them around and beg them to come.

I'm thinking that maybe if the store where i play advertised, and made the tournies more fun, more people would go. But I'd have to organize that stuff all on my own, because no one cares enough about the game to help.

Would it be better to let it go for a while, and wait to see if it swings back into popularity instead of having me smuther it untill its just gone?

Well here I think it's stayed pretty constant in popularity, since basically it was never EXTREMELY popular to begin with.

The store I usually would go to has small tournaments, and about 1 out of every 2-3 times you probably have enough to start them. Now, the bigger tournies (like regionals and such), it usually draws to a crowd of 30-40. (And that's not amazingly big for the store...since they've had other tournies that can draw for 150+ participants)

But, I'm not a big tourney player...I'm thinking of maybe joining a regionals, just to see how I fair...but I'm not that anxious to go (just yet...).

Now to answer your question on if you should let it go for a while, well... I'll suggest that you ease up on it, don't spend a lot of money or that on cards. And just play casually for a bit with friends or siblings or relatives...or whoever. And if there not good, then teach them.

Or think about playing either YVD or yugioh online (if you got the money to spend). Both of these online programs will give you some opponents to face and those who are interested in it.

So...it's your choice in if you want to quit yugioh for a bit. But I highly doubt yugioh will swing around. I just predict it will stay how it is now, and may waver a bit in popularity from time to time.

Yeah, i'll probably stay in it

I think a big tourny would be fun to be in; I've never been in one before, besides at an anime convention

I think it's pretty big. Bigger than when it began. My local tournaments every week get about 20-30 people. Regionals gets about 120-200 people.
Then there's sneak previews, nationals, shonen jump championships, money tournaments, worlds, nationals in other countries. I think it's pretty popular seeing it's a worldwide event and worlds meets every year in japan.
Now there's online tournaments with the 4 biggest forums known for yugioh.
Xerocreative, pojo, dgz, yugiohforums. This tournament is known as worlds for online ygo with yvd...Yeah i'm saying it's getting more popular.

I don't know how popular it was when it started here.. We where two people from my class, who got into it, but it took around a year or two before we found a store with other players.
There are usually around 6-12 people around in the store. Some of them are like 10 or so.. a bit boring, but two of those with the highest ranking in my country also come there so.. it's usually pretty good.
Still very popular.. and growing.

I used to go to a club where there were 60-70 Yugioh players, ranging from those that could win tourneys, to people who had only just started. But now that club has died. There is like 5 Yugioh players there, and none of them are great. They are all just noobs who can't improve because there is no longer anyone around to teach them. It is sad.

Okay, if you really think Yu-Gi-Oh! Is unpopular, then go to a SNEAK PEAK or a BIG Tournament and see JUST how many people there can trounse you! But if you keep at it and go to those, your experience practically DOUBLES right after! I also suggest going to a Hobby Shop every week for a mini-tournament to keep skills sharp! Duel whenever you can to get better and better at it! DON'T GIVE UP! This game IS played by people probably DOUBLE your age and they're the HARD CORE duelists that whipe the Tournaments clean, so catch up. I know I am, and I'm doing it FAST! Personaly, I'm in Washington, Bremerton so I go to Seattle for my Tournaments!
If I can, I'll hope to bump into one of you! n.n

Now let the sorcerers and wizards of all kind who practiced the acient secrets of the monster stone live forever by sealing the spirits in the cards you now use for conquest weather it be money, power, glory, or just to win... Carry on the legacy and BE a true duelist!
