One More

Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
Tinker is at the shop, oddly enough, promptly at the time Sunny has just gotten things together. Holding out the silk sheets, she excepts the egg in place of Ceres. "I'll take him straight home." Tinker said with a wink, and an honest grin. "She'll be most pleased when she returns home from shopping!"

The announcement of bringing another home was beginning to be a big ordeal in this home. It use to be that Ceres even with her motto of 'one more' still didn't manage to bring many adopted children home. However, as of late, she had found herself in a could not resist sort of state. The house had gone from simplistic, to splendor.

Tinker's arrival seemed to summon every child to the house. Aurora was at the kitchen table holding Aurora Dawn in her lap. Ayisha, Masika, and the twins where in the living room on the sofa. Sky had poked his head through the window, and Perian had managed room in the dinning room.

"I'm home!" Tinker exclaimed, as she flung open the door. Seeing SKy was right at the front door she knew to expect a big crowd. "Is Ceres home?"

They all shook their heads, however, Perian was the one to speak up first. "Not yet, but I'm sure it will be soon."

They all look towards the sheets that Tinker was holding, and Aurora blurted. "Well can we see it?"

Tinker gave a tisk sound, and shook her head. "Not till Ceres get home."

As if by magic, the name Ceres had summoned her. The door handle jiggled and in popped Ceres. Ceres got giddy. "He's here, he's here..."

Ceres ran over to Tinker unfolding the sheets. Aurora Dawn stopped purring just long enough to manage a few words. "He..."

"Yes a he." Ceres said happily.

"Mother..." Ayisha started. "You've never raised a boy. We'll except sky." She didn't seem to go much past that.

Ceres sat on the floor. "Your right." Ceres sighed, but then the smile jumped right back. "No problem, I'm up for the challenge! Tinker can you set him up in the room next Perian's?"

Tinker nodded.

"Now who's up for lunch!" Ceres laughed as she was happy the whole family had gathered. Each eager to help in the kitchen, even Tinker when she finished up.

Confession

Fresh snow lay on the grounds of Mystic Island, and most of the girls were out side enjoying themselves. Ceres had found Tinker inside with a horrid look as she peered over the book to look at the snow.

"Don't like the snow Tinker?" Ceres questioned with a smile.

Tinker shook her head, and went back to her book. With a whisper she said. "Better things to do, and much to cold."

"I understand. I've just about got that same feeling." Ceres smiled and turned.

Ceres headed down the hall toward the newest room, where the newest addition rested. She didn't both to knock, she just entered. It didn't make since after all since he was still in his egg.

Ceres sat near the nest, but careful to no sit on it. Tapping the lamp she sighed. "I'd sure wish you'd hurry. I'm scared to death that your not happy in that egg. Then again I'd just scared all over about you little one."

Ceres twisted her hands, confessing to the egg. "See I've never raised a boy, let a long a dragon." Ceres paused, and looked at the egg. "Never the less, I'm really looking forward to it." Ceres smiled. "I sure do hope your warm enough."

"I love you dear." Ceres got up, with one last look at the egg she left the room.

Ceres didn't even notice that Tinker had been standing there watching her the whole time. Then Tinker spoke up with a smile. "Mother, everything will be alright."

Ceres just smiled without another word and hugged on Tinker.

Finding A Name

Ceres hadn't ever had to think about naming a boy before, and was finding it hard to do. So she got a brilliant idea to take his Predominant Races, and find him a name. There she sat at the desk with many books littering it. One in particular lay on top of the stack, opened to a page about European Rivers. Even though she knew she'd never be able to visit these places it was still fun looking. Most she found to have odd names she couldn't ever remember, the rest seemed girlish. Well except one; Rhine. It made her think of a watermelon, but non the less, with a laugh she was hooked.

Hatching

Ceres was making one of those after midnight rounds in a worried state.

As she tapped Rhine's door open she herd that sure sound of cracking. When she entered she noticed the egg rocking back and forth, and a pair of eyes peering out of her.

Ceres squealed with excited, which sent Tinker one room down running into the room. It seemed catchy because as Tinker squealed excited, another came and so forth until each of the house had come to lean into the door way.

Tinker had managed to push her way past the knot of girls, and head to the bathroom. She had filled a lukewarm bath, and sat lots of fresh, fluffy towels onto the nearby toilet.

When Tinker had returned she saw Ceres holding him. "Picture Perfect!" Tinker exclaimed.

Ceres giggled, "Isn't he cute!"

Each girls head nodded fastly in agreement.

Ceres then got up and took him into the bathroom to wash him up. As his tiny body unfolded Ceres hollard out, "Looks like this ones aquatic."

Thirty minutes later out of the bath and into the towels they passed Rhine around with oooohhhh's and aaaahhhh's until Ceres noticed him yawning.

"Bed time!" Ceres said as she lifted him up into her arms.

All the girls trying to stifle their yawns headed back to bed. Tinker, however, remained to help Ceres clean up his nest. Tinker was extremely careful to set the cracked egg shell on a near by shelf for keep sake purposes.

Minutes later after Tinker had gotten things ready, Ceres had sat Rhine into bed. Both whispering good night.

Late Night Bath Time

Ceres sat lazily on the sofa while Tinker had made her self comfy on a near by chair. Ceres let out a yawn with a few words to follow. "Peace at last."

Tinker snickered. "Well at least Rhine isn't as hard to bath as Aurora Dawn is. Her being a cat and all."

Ceres nodded. "I think, however, we need a larger tub, or a pond. Damn can he swim. Makes such a mess at that. I don't think we have enough towels in the whole house."

Tinker sighed. "I know, I think I just finally got dry from that last bath. He likes what four or so a day. Seems the only human word he picked up on is bath." Tinker slid further into her chair worn out.

"I just wish I knew dragon." Ceres yawned. "Guess I'll have to wish a bit more so the house will add some additions. However, I'm just to worn out."

Tinker yawned again. "This is some catchy stuff, yawning that is. Lets hit the hay."

Ceres nodded. "I'll check on Rhine first. I think once my head hits the pillow I'll be out like a light." Ceres smiled. "Night Tinker."

"Night Ceres." Tinker said with a smile. "Heavens lets hope Rhine doesn't want another bath this evening, but if you need any help during the night just let me know."

With that they each pried themselves from their resting places and headed to bed.

Drying Out (!) (?)

Tinker had not come on this occasion for she was still trying to clean the water explosion at the house. So, that left Ceres to push open the door with her back side. When she had turned full circle you could see something no bigger than a small dog thrashing in her arms. The first piece to show was his green tinged yellow tail, and soon a head appeared. The middle was still covered, but now you could take note the towel, along with Ceres was soaking wet.

"BATH!" Rhine demanded and screamed several times over.

Ceres had found herself in tears over this one. Never could she remember such a time one of her children acted as such. But through her tears she managed to whisper, "Sunny..."

Her knees buckled, and gave way she could no longer resist Rhine's attempts at freedom from her arms. Again she whispered, hoping Sunny could hear her. "I don't understand what I've done wrong. His rooms warm, and dry." She cried in frustration.

Rhine rolled from her arms. His eyes darted wilding around the room. Then he spotted it, a cup of water on the desk. In more of a slither than a walk he got to the desk. He butted his head at it until the glass fell and shattered to the floor. Of which he took a few happy moments to roll in it.

Ceres was in too many tears to catch what he was doing. She had, after all, never raised a dragon before; let alone something aquatic.

Sundragyn
Sunny leapt to her feet as the water glass went flying.

"What the...?"

She rushed forward to scoop up the wriggling dragon. "Careful, careful. Oh, look at you. Watch the glass. Don't want to cut yourself."

Shaking her head, Sunny took Rhine back to Ceres. "I presume this is my little Oceanic hybrid, yes? He looks lovely." She patted him on the nose.

"Warm and ... dry? Oh no. Oh no." Sunny shook her head again. "His father was an Oceanic, and he takes after him. He likes the water, and probably won't like being very dry for long periods. Won't kill him, but he'll be uncomfortable. At least until he's a bit older."

She considered this.

"Invest in a humidifier, maybe."
Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
Rhine's tongue darted from his mouth catching Sunny's hand. "WATER!" He was still demanded.

Ceres sniffled, trying to restrain from crying all over again. Her arms open. "A hum...id...fier." Ceres took a mental note, with a slightly childish sound in her voice. "What is that. A lake in his room?"
Sundragyn
"It's a machine that makes fog, essentially." Sunny ran her hand over Rhine's head, trying to soothe him. "They make them for people with chest colds. You can get them at most department stores, maybe a big drugstore. Fill it up with water, and it makes the air nice and moist. This guy'll like it. What're you calling him?"
Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
Ceres was now semi calm. "I've named him..."

"RHINE!" Rhine said loudly.

"You, you... Your second word!" Ceres smiled happily. "We've never gotten anything else human out of him except bath."

Rhine was now semi occupied with Sunny, leaving him to stop thinking of water for just a second.

"A department store, or drug store." Ceres nodded her head. "I think I'd prefer to keep my house of will, and not of wire. But now that I understand the concept." Ceres smiled brightly.
Rune Traverse
Gabriel watched with wide eyes, stunned. A water dragon - he was so cute! But he needed water! Digging in his pocket, the small phoenix boy produced a little round amulet, no bigger than his palm. Holding it up, he offered it to Rhine. "This makes water on the skin of the wearer - it's not really good, but it'll make you damp." He spoke shyly.
Sundragyn
"Well, then you can certainly manage something along the same lines," Sunny grinned. "Rhine, is it? Well, nice to meet you outside of your egg, Rhine. Here, you go back to your mum, now. We've cleared things up, after all."

She attempted to shift him into Ceres's arms.
Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
Rhine's eyes rolled from Sunny to Gabriel as he was placed back in the arms of Ceres. He didn't understand how it worked, or what it meant. Except when the boy had spoke of water. This sounded good enough to Rhine as he extended his neck, and smiled. "Bath" He said in calmer tones to Gabriel. Then his eyes rolled back to Ceres and Sunny to make sure it was okay.

Ceres nodded her head. "Thank You. My names Ceres. And yours?" Ceres held out her hand.
Rune Traverse
"I'm Gabriel, ma'am." The little boy smiled and carefully settled the cord of the amulet over Rhine's neck. It was one of his first attempts at magic, so it probably wasn't very good, but it had been designed to make a sheen of water condense from the air around the skin of the wearer. He'd stuffed it in his pocket without thinking about it, intent on his trip with Julian.
Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
"Is there something I can offer you in return for such a kind, and wonderful gift to my son?" Ceres smiled.

Rhine seemed as if a calm had hit him as the pendant settled against his chest.
Rune Traverse
Gabriel shook his head, aqua cheeks turning dark with a blush. "It's not very good, m'am." He managed shyly. "I'm just learning from Mom, she and Aunt Ri are water mages. And they work with dragons a lot. Auntie Ryo said that Julian might be a water dragon, but she didn't know 'cause he's not the same kind as the one she works with, so I tried making these." He touched the egg wrapped in the wagon beside him. "This is Julian, he's my brother."
Kawaii_Hime_Ceres
Ceres looked into Gabriel 's eyes. "Every gift that comes from a persons heart is wonderful regardless if you a beginner or an old hand at the trade." Ceres smiled brightly.

"My time on this world is limited, but before I go..." Ceres held up a hand, she closed her eyes. She had a slight glow about her, and a ball of light appeared in her hand. The light dissolved forming a pearl like object.

"This is for you. For your brother. If you have enough heart, and will in your soul you can use it to each create something for yourselves." She handed it to Gabriel, and with one last look in his eyes she turned and vanished.

A slight whisper left behind. "Farewell, and thank you again."

Room Make Over

Ceres and Rhine returned home to find Tinker, and the house finally dry.

"Did you find out anything?" Tinker asked.

Ceres nodded. "Yes, a lot. We've basically got his room all wrong."

Tinker asked. "All wrong?"

"Yes we need warm, but dry. We need moist and damp. Kind of misty like." Ceres paused a moment thinking before continuing. "He is must like his father, a water dragon."

As if a light went of in Tinkers head, she exclaimed. "That would explain excessive baths!"

Ceres nodded with a smile. They both walked to the bathroom got a nice tub of warm water ready, and set Rhine into it. Perian came down the hall hearing voices. "Need any help mother?"

"Yes please. Can you watch him while me and Tinker go and fix him a proper room." Ceres said with a smile.

Perian nodded, Ceres and Tinker headed off to Rhine's bed room. Tinker removed the nest holding the cracked egg. Then they both emptied the room from top to bottom.

"For such a little guy I never realized how much stuff we had in here." Tinker laughed.

"You've got a point. Give me a few seconds peace." Ceres said, and then paused.

Tinker nodded taking no offense because she knew Ceres' magic took a bit of though rather than wands or words. Slowly, the room filled with miniature size, rain-forest like trees. Vines creeped up the walls, disappearing into the canopy above. Next, in the corner a small pond appeared with lots of rocks. Near the biggest rock a beam of light. The carpet turned to grass, and lastly a mist filled the air.

"How's that?" Ceres asked with a smile.

"Looks great!" Tinker exclaimed. "But what of the furniture?" Tinker added.

"Wanted to make sure this looked good enough." Ceres smiled and the again things appeared. First a couple water proof shelves with covers to protect contents. Then a nest of water proof straw, silks, and metals. Lastly a water proof dresser. "He'll need one when he gets older."

Tinker smiled. "Excellent."

With that they called Perian. Perian brought Rhine to them. "Nice job mother!"

"Thank You" Ceres smiled. "I hope he likes it."

"You're missing a mirror. Every room has one. You know what for." Perian added a moment later. At that point, a mirror appeared.

As Tinker added the nest, and a couple other things into their places. Perian and Ceres settled Rhine into his nest. They all wished him good dreams and left.

Picnic Part 1:
Getting Ready

(The next couple posts will be posted in both Rhine and Aurora diaries)

Ceres and Tinker were up pretty early today. Ceres had made the decision with the help of Tinker to take Rhine for a swim down at the lake. Ceres had also made the decision to take Aurora with her; she had grown a bit more, and Ceres new that she had already been exploring. Now what better time to off some mother daughter time with her two youngest than a picnic. Tinker new how much a handful Rhine could be, so she joined in.

They had just finished packing the linens, and where packing lunch when Aurora padded in followed by her mouse. "Where are you going mother?" Aurora asked as she left onto a chair nearest her.

Ceres smiled. "Today, the four of us are going past the farm..." She hesitated enough to notice the huge smile of Aurora's face. "We are going to the lake to give Rhine some swimming room, and then where ever you'd like to go."

Aurora's face had sunk a bit at the thought of the lake, but perked up when she herd where ever she wanted to go. She burst out "WHERE EVER? REALLY?"

Ceres and Tinker both nodded. Tinker look around the kitchen. "Everything is all packed. We are just missing Rhine."

Aurora lept from the kitchen chair. "I'll go get brother!" She was so excited.

Moments later Aurora can running down the hall. Rhine proved much slower on carpet/land than in the water; almost turtle like. Ceres and Tinker stifled a laugh watching the two. It was like the fairy tail of Tortus and Hair.

"SWIM" Rhine grunted loudly. His human wasn't improving much no mater how much any of them tried.

"Yes we are going swimming." Tinker said with a smile, and picked Rhine up. Then she looked to Aurora. "Aurora you'd better leave your mouse at home because he could get lost in the tall grass."

Aurora nodded her head, and left the mouse at home to play.

"Ready to go?" Ceres asked. With a nod of every head, they grabbed their things and headed out the door. Kitty and Perian stayed behind to tidy the house.

Picnic Part 2:
Rhine's Disappearance

(The next couple posts will be posted in both Rhine and Aurora diaries)

They arrived at the lake making good time, and in under a forty minute brisk walk for Ceres. Aurora had found herself in trees along the way, while Tinker held onto Rhine who was still a bit sluggish on land. Once they had all gotten a good view of the lake they set up for they planned to spend a good part of the afternoon there before taking Aurora to her requested spot.

Rhine started to squirm. "Down." Rhine demanded in his usual grunt.

"That makes four words for Rhine." Tinker said as she made a mental note.

Ceres nodded with a sigh. "I just wish I understood he was so ruff in tongue. Each word sounds more demanding than the next. We haven't even managed a sentence."

Tinker cut in. "I think mom comes first in most instances."

Ceres plopped down onto the blanket with a nod towards Tinker's statement. "Guess I'm not lucky enough yet..." She paused. "To be called mom."

Aurora landed in Ceres lap. "Cheer up mother. All your children were different, he's just slightly slower than the rest of us." Aurora purred, although her ears were flat thinking she'd get scolded for saying Rhine was slower.

Rhine didn't move his head at those words. Ceres sighed and stroked Aurora's head. "I know you mean well Aurora."

Tinker looked a Rhine. "Shouldn't that comment have at leased roused him?"

Ceres thought for a moment. "I don't know what to expect anymore at this point."

Tinker, Aurora, and Ceres had sat down to enjoy lunch when they had noticed that Rhine was no longer sun bathing off in the grass near the rock.

Ceres eyes wide with shock, her heart racing looked around. "Where could have he gone. He's not that fast, and we didn't take our eyes off of him for even 2 minutes." Almost in tears.

Tinker tried to calm Ceres down. "Breath" But she her self, could think of nothing else to do or to say.

Aurora however had already scurried off looking around the lake in the near area.

Rhine had not vanished to explore the land, however, the water had gotten the best of him. His entrance into the pond was unheard except to those under the surface as was any disturbance. The water was cool, and slid off his skin rather quickly. Where as the misty likeness in his room set to his skin, and within minutes proved to make him hotter than he liked. His feet where not yet webbed enough so for a couple moments as he tried his best under the surface he more so rolled in one spot than making progress. Rolling found his dizzy, and quickly tangled into some native water plants. The sand felt rough, and he much preferred that he didn't have to tough it. But as he kicked around, it caused a thickened haze in the water. It didn't take long for other creatures to notice.

"Hold on young one." A soft wispy voice came out of no where. "You are new to these parts."

He strained his ears, but it seemed like muffles to him. He thought perhaps it was a land trouble, but it seemed that no even water helped him.

The creature still hidden by the sand cloud said in the same wispy voice. "Can you not hear me young one?"

The creature took his silence to mean yes. For a brief moment the creature made contact with Rhine. This started him a bit as the hand proved slimy, much like what he was stuck in.

"There, There..." The creature chimed.

Shortly their after Rhine could hear the creature humming. It was much like a humans voice, a woman. But why didn't she show herself, or itself he thought darn this sand.

"Can you hear me know?" She asked in a more stern voice.

Rhine nodded softly although no words escaped him. He was glade his ears were finally empty of that nasty air bubble he'd had since he hatched. The bubble had made his hearing nill if nothing at most times.

"I haven't seen you in here before. Are you new?" The creature asked this time in her wispy voice.

Judging from what he'd learned from previous muffles he shook his head, and looked up.

"You belong up there then?" The creature said, she was starting to finally show now that the sand was settling. "I'll help you back. I hope our next meeting will be a more pleasant one." She smiled.

Rhine coo'd softly as the creature pushed him onto the grassy surface. When he turned his head the creature had gone. He was slightly disappointed, but non the less happy to see the grass again.

As Aurora had come running back she noticed the shining form of Rhine. "Mother look!" Aurora hollard.

Ceres ran to scoop him up. Tinker close by. Rhine simply smiled.

Picnic Part 3:
Aurora's Choice

(The next couple posts will be posted in both Rhine and Aurora diaries.)

The four of them spent the rest of the afternoon near the lake. Ceres occasionally slipping into the water to assist Rhine. They had all noticed a change about him since he resurfaced. However, nearing supper Aurora was growing antsy.

________________________________

"Is it my turn yet." Aurora moaned.

"Yes dear. I wanted to give as much day light to Rhine to play in the waters, because it is easier to see below." Ceres smiled, then noticing Tinker who had just finished packing, and collecting Rhine. "Tinker you ready?"

Tinker nodded, the bright oranges that splashed into the firey reds indicated a sun set was occurring. "So where are we off to next?" Tinker asked, turning to Aurora. "I do believe it is up to you, but if it was me I'd suggest the beach."

"Sand makes you dirty, and feels bad between the pads of my paws..." Aurora's ears laid back at the though. "How about a trip to the forest. I've stopped to look at it a couple times, but never entered." She had a sudden look of excitement.

"All right then. Off we go!" Ceres exclaimed, but then in more subtle tones. "We haven't got much day light left Aurora."

Aurora purred stopped, and in a very unlady-like whine. "But, mother you promised me."

"I know I did Aurora, but I was hoping you'd have picked a safer place." Ceres watched Aurora who didn't seem to understand, and spoke at last after a silence. "The Grove, and the Mountains are near the Forest."

Before Ceres could finish, Aurora burst out. "So are the fields, and low grass areas."

"Well, if you'd let me finish..." Ceres crossed her arms. "I was going to say that we can spend the rest of the dusk hours there, and I'll take you there again tomorrow...." She paused and added. "Just you and me."

This seemed to make Aurora happy as she started to purr again.

"Lets get moving before there is no dusk left." Tinker said once the waters seemed calm amongst them. Rhine had fallen asleep in her arms.

They headed for the forest.

Picnic Part 4:
Aurora's Disappearance

(The next couple posts will be posted in both Rhine and Aurora diaries.)

The reds bleeding into the blues to allow for a purpling sky let Ceres know that it was almost dark as they settled into the out side of the forest.

"We're here." Ceres said followed by a pause waiting for what next.

Aurora had paused a moment, looking back towards the short grasses. Tinker had laid the sleeping form of Rhine down onto a damp cloth. Rhine seemed to be in comfort thanks to the pendant for the friend at the shop.

Tinker seeming to be unease spoke up before Aurora. "The fogs seeping into the forest this evening. It means the magics thicker than normal. Ceres I'd hate to be in the thick of it when sun sets, especially if we stumble into the grove."

Aurora however didn't seem to be paying attention to Tinkers feelings and leapt into a near by tree. Vanished from eye sight several branches above, she explored.

Ceres hollard up. "Aurora don't stay long, you herd Tinker."

Aurora's ear flattened as she knew that she hadn't been paying attention, but non the less this was her moment. The sky had almost finished purpling but off in the distance the oranges where trying to invade for one last hope of light before giving in.

________________________________

Ceres looked to Tinker. "I've got your same feeling. And I don't think there is enough will between us all to find the center at this time of day."

Tinker thought for a moment, and then slowly said. "Center you mean Mother Tree?"

Ceres nodded. Rhine's eyes opened, as he rolled over sprawled onto his back. "Rub" Rhine's voice for a change was softer. Tinker and Ceres looked down at the same time.

"This is a very nice change of attitude. Maybe the sun did you some good." Ceres said as they both sat down to rub Rhine's belly.

"I wonder what happened to him under the water when he went missing?" Tinker pondered out loud.

"That I guess we will not know until either we read his mind, or he tells us. And I believe we'll be legends before either of those options happens." Ceres said with a chuckle.

Tinker nodded. Rhine was a peace for once in his short existence thus far. Rhine was thinking to himself that he for once didn't feel as if his skin was stretched the point of tearing, or having the hideous air bubble in his ears at the moment. His mind drifted to the lake creature who had helped him, and hope that they would meet again. Rhine was almost purring in a dragon tongue. Ceres and Tinker were both lost in thought over Rhine's calmness that they didn't notice that the waring coloring battle in the sky had given in to black, and twinkling stars until an own hooted in the near by branches.

________________________________

"We better get Aurora." Ceres spoke up breaking the peace.

Tinker nodded. They together called out for Aurora. But to their dismay she didn't come, and the fog seemed to be creeping to the out skirts of the forest quicker than either wanted.

Tinker sighed. "We forgot to warn her to stay on the paths provided."

"Not much good it will do if she is in the trees." Ceres sighed feeling angry with herself that she'd forgotten to warn her.

Tinker noticed the tension. "Don't blame yourself, she'll be back just as soon as she notices the sky."

"Lets hope it is soon." Ceres sighed, as she pulled Rhine onto her lap.

What seemed like several minutes soon turned into at least an hour. Ceres looked to Tinker and then the sleeping form of Rhine.

"I cannot wait any longer" Ceres said in a demanding voice, and as she stood Rhine slid from her lap.

"I agree. But the fogs thick..." Tinker followed Ceres.

In the distance you could hear them chatting, however when Rhine woke shortly after he didn't know what was going on. Slowly he moved through the forest, off of the path, and into the thick of the fog.

He hadn't yet come to understand fear, or the sense of being alone. Ceres, Tinker, Sky, or one of his sisters had always been present. However, the feelings where quickly approaching.

His thoughts were racing, and soon slithered into a bramble bush. His skin was thick enough to cause him little damage other than a few cuts, but his shrill cries pierced through the fog.

His cries were so loud he didn't hear the approaching company. When the raccoon boy knelt down to help him out he snapped at him even if his bight could do little damage. The boy didn't pay much attention to the snap, and said soothingly, "My name is Connor. I know Ceres is in the Forest this evening along with Tinker and they are looking for your sister Aurora."

Rhine hearing names he knew calmed a bit as Connor managed to finally pluck him from the bramble bush. "Rhine" Is the word he managed hoping to get the message across that that was his name.

Connor nodded. "Well, Rhine you are certainly a handsome dragon. I bet you'd like some company while we wait for them."

Rhone nodded with a gentle growl from his tummy.

"All right then. Let us go to some place safer. We can go visit your grandma." Connor said with a smile. With Rhine in the arms of Connor they traveled from the forest into the grove.

"I think we need to put a locate collar on that kid." Tinker said with a smirk on her face, and a huff in her breath.

"I agree. And, to put it simply give an inch and take a mile." Ceres said with the same smirk and huff. "Should we ground her?" Ceres finished with a question.

Tinker nodded. "It would seem most proper."

Picnic Part 6:
Mother Tree

(The next couple posts will be posted in both Rhine and Aurora diaries.)

Connor controlling his thoughts moved quickly through the grove before Rhine had time to think. When the mist became lighter they where in a clearing facing a huge tree.

"Mother Tree I have brought a guest." Connor said softly, knowing this would rouse her from a nap.

Rhine started intently at the area, and especially at the tree. Then he got startled once more as the tree SPOKE!

"At this time of the night. What / Who do I owe such a pleasure?" The voice was old and wise but yet a whisper of wind.

Connor smiled. "As of right now just Rhine; son of Ceres. And soon to come I am sure Ceres her self with her daughters Tinker, and Aurora."

"Well, set the little one down. I want to get a good look at him." Mother Tree smiled

Connor did as requested. Rhine wriggled in the dry leaves and warm dirt before he was whisked up but several soft leafy branches. He left out a soft cry of panic, but was quickly comforted.

"There, there Rhine. I'm your grandmother. I use to be just like your mother. But my will led me down other paths such as this one. This is where I live, and this is how I help to protect the island." Mother tree continued to speak in soft windy tones.

Rhine wondered why she bothered to explain this because he really didn't care. After all his family was ODD enough as is. He looked up into the eyes of Mother Tree, and rubbed again the soft leafy branches.

"But enough of me before I bore you. You are so young, yet so evolved. I know little about dragons, but shouldn't you at least have some form of words by now." Mother Tree smiled. "I have just the thing!"

Her branches gave a firm pinch around him. It only stung for just a moment. "Hows that?" Mother Tree thought to Rhine.

Rhine saw no lips moving, and wondered what she was up to.

"Come on, now I know you can think." Mother tree thought again to Rhine.

The grip was loose now, and he was once again snug. "You smell pretty, and feel soft." He thought to her.

"You are very kind. But why the lack of words. Do you have nothing to say about this life you live?" She thought back to him.

"I have plenty I want to say. But up until today I couldn't hear much of anything. I had this awful bubble in my ears. A mer-thing cleared it up. Now I can hear so many things." Rhine was thinking a mile a minute. He was so excited to finally have contact.

Mother Tree laughed as the thoughts flew from his mind. "Sure enough, just like a kid. Your full of stuff. I soon hope you find your tongue. But until then use this gift." Mother Tree continued to send him messages. "And who gave you such a rickety, but lovely pendant. Well done water spell might I add."

Rhine quickly raced the thoughts of the day at the shop, and the boy who helped him. "And, that is how I get around on land easier. Now I am not so dry all the time."

Mother Tree smiled, she waved a separate leafy branch, and transformed the pendant. Still the same pendent but now stronger, shinier, and more durable. "There, there... That's better." She thought to Rhine.

"Thank You! Your the best." Rhine thought, and then looked to where Connor had once stood.

Catching his thought without him evening thinking it Mother Tree said, "Don't worry, he does that. He knows you are safe. He probably went to help your mother." Mother tree thought to him.

Rhine was happy, safe, and soon found himself yawning.

"Aha, we can nap together then." Mother said with a chuckle. Soon they were both napping and waiting for Ceres' return.

Connor showed up off to the right of Ceres and Tinker. "Rhine is with Mother Tree." He siad this is almost a whisper.

Ceres turned having herd him comming. "Thank You!"

"I think I see her" Tinker said, pointing out the flash of the moon symbol.

"Do you need further help Ceres?" Connor asked?

"No thank you, and thank you again. "Ceres said with a smile. Then she turned attention to what Tinker had pointed out.

Connor disappeared.

"Time to come down, and go home." Ceres said sternly.

A tail dropped below the branches, and Aurora's face poked out of the leaves. "Time already?"

Tinker huffed. "Two hours ago."

"Yes little lady, and you've had us worried sick. Couldn't you tell it was dark out side." Ceres voice was almost soft yet still stern.

Knowing she was in trouble she quickly hopped down to hopefully save herself from the worst.

"We can discuss your punishment later." Ceres yawned.

"But before we can go home we need to visit Mother Tree." Tinker added.

Ceres nodded, and led the way. Aurora's ears were flat, and her tail tucked under. She could always tell when the worst was coming.
