WHEEE Progress thus far!
Vidya stopped outside of the Stationary Store, looking from the piece of paper in her hands, to the building infront of her. Somehow...this place didn't look how she remembered it. Blinking her white eyes, the girl leaned her head to the side, looking rather dumbfounded at the building infront of her. Somehow...it seemed a little oh...not...right? Well, for one, there were leather bodices in the window. She was fairly sure that the Stationary Store had...well...stationary in the window.
Slowly, she looked down at her piece of paper, then slowly turned the thing upside down...only to reveal the number she'd once been looking at turn into something completely different! Looking at the number, she turned and looked across the street...And found where she was looking for.
"Oh, there it is!" She giggled, spotting the stationary store and running across the street towards it. As she stopped infront of the REAL stationary store, she bapped her temple with her knuckles. "Silly me~" Her voice was sing-song as always; and with this happy note, she wandered freely into the true stationary store, greeted with the familiar stationary rather than the leather bodices.Ezra had been away from the Stationary Store for a long time, but he still recognized it almost immediately. Held snug in Polecat's arms, he clapped his hands and thumped his tail against her ribs in excitement, making her wince.Polecat paused to kick the mud from her traveling boots before entering the shop. She was a little nervous about having been gone so long. She had heard that there were many new Tales and Authors. Probably no one remembered her or Ezra. Oh, well. Time to face the music. She opened the door with a sigh and stepped over the threshold.Ezra didn't know anything about any new Tales, but he had been lonely. Forgetting his natural shyness -- and his tendency to keep his mouth shut in the company of strangers -- he grinned broadly at the strange bluish girl waiting in the shop. Not gifted with Ezra's excellent night vision, Polecat's eyes took a bit longer to adjust to the dimmer light. She started when she saw the strange girl. "Oh! Sorry, I didn't know anyone was here."Vidya wouldn't remember either of them; but that was because she'd never met either of them to begin with. The nymph was checking out some of the journal-esque books when she heard the door open, only this time, she purposely looked over her left shoulder instead of her right. She had something in her possession now that allowed her to 'see' through her blind left eye, and she was trying to use it as often as possible to learn exactly how to use it.
Judging by what she saw, which was only the smoke-like whisps of aura that surrounded everything, she took a guess that there was one adult-ish person, one that was either holding a strange package or some form of kid. She could see no pure shapes, nor could she see colour, aside from the various colours the auras took, anyway. Having taken this guess as to what her once blind eye 'saw', she felt it were safe to turn and fully face the two, to use her good right eye just to see just how accurate she was.
Lo and behold, there WAS an older person there! Well, older than her anyway. And she was partially right about what that person held; it looked kind of like a snake, but it was pretty! It took the blue girl a minute to notice that the woman had started upon seeing her. With a giggle, Vidya waved her hands infront of her.
"Oh, thats alright! Hello...Welcome to the shop!" Then, the girl bowed a bit. "I'm Vidya! Whats your names?" Her gaze went back to the creature in the woman's arms...it was just so neat-looking!There were plenty of odd-looking people to be found in Gaia, but Polecat was pretty sure the girl was a Tall Tale. She certainly looked too young to be an Author, anyways. "Nice to meet you, Vidya. I'm Polecat, and this little dude is Ezra," she said, smiling. "We've been away for a long time... it'll be good to catch up." She sighed again, looking at Ezra. "Ezra's been lonely, too."Ezra ignored the conversation, focusing on the girl. The urge to bury his face in his hands was creeping up on him, but he ignored it. The girl seemed nice, and better yet, she seemed similar to him somehow. He didn't remember much about the Study, but the girl seemed like she belonged here somehow.
He smiled at her again, careful to keep his mouth shut this time. Ezra knew he was different-looking, and didn't like the way people sometimes seemed frightened of him. His sharp teeth had alarmed people in the past."Well, Its nice to meet you too! Oh, so you two've been here before?" She blinked at the both of them, her dual eyesight making her vision work really strange; her left pheripheral vision was black with the auras, her right pheripheral vision was in complete colour and shape, and in between were a mix of the two, much like a light spectrum. "Hm...I like that name...Ezra. Its neat-sounding! Its perfect for a neat-looking boy!" She stated out of nowhere, giggling happily. Now, she was taking a guess as to what the boy-creature was in Polecat's arms.
"Then are you a tale, by chance?" She coo'd softly as she leaned her head to the side, looking more at the obviously shy boy then at his author. If he really were a tale, that would explain the aura he was giving off, and why it looked different than anything she'd seen yet.Polecat smiled as Ezra, apparently understanding Vidya's question, nodded so. "Yeah, he is," she said proudly. "He's a heavy one, too." She carried Ezra over to a convenient chair and set him down, ignoring his indignant yelp. The snake-like boy pushed himself up into the best standing position he was capable of. He curled his heavy tail around himself and folded his arms, flicking his tongue at Polecat in disapproval. He was more interested in the blue girl -- Vidya? -- though, and turned his gaze back on her. A few surreptitious tongue-flicks told him that her scent was definitely different from others'. He was almost positive that she was a Tale like himself.
"Hi," he said solemnly, blinking."Oh! Thats so cool! I've never seen you before! I'm a Tale too..!" The nymph giggled out, pointing at herself and giving the pair an eyeless smile. At the mention of Ezra being heavy, however... "But...he doesn't look heavy..." Vidya commented, blinking curiously. Then again, Vidya didn't know if snake-like people were supposed to be heavy; mainly because she'd never seen a snake-like person before. She watched the interaction between tale and author in silence, that curious look still on her face.
"Heya!" She coo'd out when he finally spoke, as short as his sentence was. Taking a few steps closer to the chair Ezra was in, she eventually flopped onto her knees infront of him; for some reason, she hated when she was talking to someone while hovering over them. That was just rude. She preferred to be at eye-level, or at least close to, when talking; which was, most of the time, a very hard thing to do; she seemed to be shorter than most people, even the ones her age.
"How're you?" Vidya asked politely, leaning her head to the side. Her white gaze strayed curiously over his scales, finding them absolutely fascinating. "I like the patterns on your scales...Yellow and Black look good together!" And there she went, doing her first-meeting ritual of telling the other what she liked about them from the start. "Uhm...I really don't mean to sound weird or anything...but...Could I pet your tail? I've never touched scales before..." She smiled sheepishly and her headwings twitched for the same reason, but she was being completely honest.Polecat smiled at Vidya's obvious interest in Ezra. He was, after all, her pride and joy... even if he was a little bit odd. The blue-skinned girl's outgoing manner startled Ezra a bit, but she did seem kind. "I'm short but 'm allll mussel," he said, twitching his tailtip. "That's why 'm heavy."
He smiled at Vidya's compliment and question. Even though plenty of people reacted to his unusual physique with alarm or disgust, the people that liked him usually got around to asking about his scales sooner or later. "Thanks!" he said, a bit embarrassed. "Your skin's pretty too. I've never seen anyone blue before!" He uncurled his tail slightly, offering the end to Vidya. " 'n sure you can touch my tail. 'M not slimy," he said, reassuringly.
Vidya really was very pretty. Ezra liked meeting 'different' looking people... and Vidya's blue and silver was definitely different! He wondered if there were other Tales as strange as Vidya and himself. One thing was for sure, it was good to be back home. ((To be continued...))

(( Wow, stupid me JUST realized I never replied to that. e.e MY BAD! ))
Oh, Vidya didn't mind 'Odd'. She wasn't that normal looking either, of course! Not to mention her two best friends happened to be a giant parrot and a dragon...and her own brother was a walking shiney.
"Muscle...I saw on TV that muscle weighs more than fat does! So you're right, I think! I had lotsa babyfat on me when I was small, though..." What was normal for being a little one? Muscle or Chub? She mused on this for all of two seconds, and when she stopped musing about it, she held out her arm to Ezra as he offered the end of his tail to her. It was only fair right? He could prod her if he wanted to, since she'd most definately be patting him. "Here, just to be even!" She coo'ed out reassuringly.
"You don't look slimey..." She knew what Slimey looked like; that demon frog with Shauna came to mind suddenly. With the tip of her tongue caught between her front teeth and partially poking through her lips, she reached out and lightly placed her fingers on Ezra's scales. "Oh! Smooth! Awesome...!" She giggled out, a look of wide-eyed surprise on her face. Somehow, this texture was familiar... Still, it didn't stop her from patting Ezra's tail a couple more times, finding it thoroughly fun to do so. Now that she'd known it was scales she was touching, she couldn't help but feel that she'd touched scales before...but she couldn't place where.
Eventually she realized that she wasn't patting something inanimate. Grinning sheepishly, she retracted her hand away from him, and instead trapped it between her knees. "That was really cool! Thank you very much!" Small things amuse small minds, right?

((xD 's fine.))
Cautiously reaching out a hand to pat her arm, Ezra pondered over her comment. Were most babies muscular or fat? As he thought about it, it seemed that most baby human-type people were chubby. "I think bein' chubby's normal," he offered. "M' human parts are kinda chubby, but m' snakey parts aren't." He withdrew his hand, waiting patiently for her to tire of his scales.
"You're welcome," he said cheerfully in response to her compliment. "I like m'scales too. I like your wingie things too," he added, looking at the funny wing-things above her ears. They were odd, to be sure, but they looked nice with Viddy's blue-and-silver skin and hair. He glanced down at the jagged black patterns that streaked across his yellow hide. Black and yellow were definitely a lot nicer than blue and silver, but Vidya looked pretty just the same.

"Oh...Well that makes sense! Okay, so then its normal to be chubby, unless you're a snake...do you think baby dragons are chubby?" She couldn't think of Lance as being chubby at all; and he was a Dragon! Maybe the Dragons were kind of like the snakes, in the lack of chub department? Truely, this was something that should be pondered over. Way to go, Vidya.
"I'd let you touch my wings...but ah...they're kinda ticklish..." Vidya giggled nervously...well at least she were honest, right? Slowly, she dragged her white gaze down and stared at her hand. Honestly, she were thinking about scales now. She wouldn't mind having scales as well as feathers...but in the end, that would probably make her look a little silly, right? Brushing that aside, she then dragged her gaze towards Ezra's scales...black and yellow were really pretty together. As she stared in strangely comfortable silence, a little thought started to plague her. Giving out a small, curious gasp, she looked up at Ezra. "Hey...are you black with yellow designs, or are you yellow with black designs?" To her eye, the one that actually perceived colour and definition, it could have been both...and maybe he knew the answer!

"Hmm, I dunno if dragons're s'posed to be chubby." Ezra rubbed a hand across his snout thoughtfully. He had seen pictures of big dragons sleeping on piles of gold, and they looked kind of chubby -- but muscular and mean as well. Lance, however, the young dragonish Tale, wasn't chubby at all. "Maybe it depends on the dragon?" he offered.
Though a bit disappointed, Ezra didn't mind not being able to touch her wings. " 'sok, they're still cool," he said cheerfully, admiring them. He couldn't imagine what he would look like with wing-things on his own head... pretty weird, to be sure. At Vidya's question about his scales, he looked down at his hands thoughtfully. Ezra had never wondered about how to define his colors... they were there, you could see them, and if you couldn't see them then describing them didn't matter, did it? "Well... I guess I'm yellow with black on," he said slowly. "Cause I got more yellow than black, an' my stomachs kinda yellow too."

"I guess it would...Do you know Lance, then?" Vidya mused, then perked; it sounded as though they were thinking of the same little dragon! Lance was one of the people she thought everyone should know; he was so much fun, and he was so very nice, to top it all off! She knew from first hand experience, because she lived with him for a rather long time after the Gambino Tower's fall. "I like Lance, he's neat~" She nodded a bit, then noticed Ezra's almost disappointed look.
"Eee...I'm sorry, if you really wanna touch them you can! I can handle it for a bit, promise!" Vidya didn't like to disappoint people, obviously. In fact, she turned her head to the side in invitation, since turning her head made one of her wings more accessable.
"That makes sense, too! It looks like your head is yellow with black on, but your tail looks more like its black with yellow on it. Its kinda strange, but its so cool at the same time!" Who was she to call something strange? This tale was more like a walking ball of oddity on her own, and not just for the strange placement of utterly useless wings and a skin colour that could make the sky jealous.
"Anyway! What kind of things do you do for fun?" She asked, leaning her head to the side. While they were there, they might as well play!

"Yeah, I met Lance one time. He's pretty cool!" Ezra thought that the dragon Tale was definitely very neat. Ezra wasn't a fighter by nature, but he thought that Lance's ideas about honor and chivalry were excellent ones. He reached up and gently touched one of Vidya's head-wings. "Fluffy!"
Ezra didn't mind being called strange. Strange was definitely underrated in his book. "Thanks, your colors are cool too." He blinked up at the girl. She was very, well, perky, but he thought that she was also very nice. At first he had been a little bit unsettled by her exuberance, but now he found himself relaxing. Vidya seemed all right after all.
"I dunno, I'm pretty quiet usually," he said, flicking his tongue out. "I just like explorin' and stuff. What d'you think is fun?" Ezra knew that many people found his hobbies boring, and he didn't want to bore his new friend.

"He really is! He's so friendly, too!" Well, when Tybalt isn't around, of course. He was always trying to get her to stop being a pirate of course, but she thought it was kind of cute the way he kept trying. As much as she loved her dragon friend, she knew there was very little that could stop her from being a pirate now. That train of thought was disrupted of course, as Ezra's fingers brushed over her wings. Vidya faught back a pleased shiver, and bit her tongue lightly to stop any giggles; touching her wings was like scratching an itchy dog's ears, strangely enough; only with more giggles at this point in time.
"Heee...I'm glad you think so!" There, she had fixed a disappointment. Score one for her, in her mind! It wasn't too bad, in the end. She reached up and lightly scratched the small space between the back of her ear and where her wings sprouted from her head; probably an attempt to get rid of the last of the tickling tingles.
"Oh, I see..." She mused, shortly after he explained what he liked to do. Ah, so he was a quiet person! Somehow she figured that. But the only thing that could possibly bore Vidya was if she was forced to stay by herself and forbidden from doing anything. "I like exploring too! And Reading and Swimming...Well I'm still kind of slow when it comes to reading...but I can swim very well! Uhm...I like going shopping for things. Nothing specific...just things." Nic Nacks were the BEST things ever, and it was nic nacks which she had plenty of. "So do you explore when you're at home, or do you do something else?" She inquired, leaning her head to the side. She knew from experience that you can only explore your own home a certain number of times before it gets dull.

"I like reading too... swimming I'm not so good at," Ezra said, rolling his eyes. "I tried swimmin' a few times and us'lly I just sink. Maybe when 'm bigger." Shopping had never held much attraction for Ezra, but he knew that his mom enjoyed it. In Ezra's worldly opinion, shopping was more of a girl kind of thing.
Exploring at home? That was a strange idea. Sometimes Ezra played pretend in his house, building pillow-forts and setting up stuffed-animal armies, but he had never explored it. What was there to explore? "I dunno, I think I explore my home pretty good just by living there. Nothing much new to see. Us'lly I explore, you know, the woods an' stuff..." His voice trailed off.

Not good at swimming? Leaning her head to the side, she looked him over...maybe it was because of his large tail? It was likely that even she, who was so fond and adapted to water, would have a hugely hard time swimming if she had a tail too. "You can read? I couldn't read when I was your age...I only learned once I grew up..." She admitted, looking a bit embarassed about that. "Momma said I wouldn't sit still long enough to even try it." Not that she remembered, of course. "But as for swimming...maybe I could teach you? I'm sure I can find a way to make swimming with a tail work! I'll find a way, and when I do I'll call you! How does that sound?" She'd taught Armel how to swim, so by all accounts she could probably teach Ezra how to, as well!
"I have lots of brothers and sisters, though...so things around the house tend to change without my realizing it until I walk by." She chuckled softly, stretching her arms above her head. "I like exploring woods too! I got lost once though...But thats besides the fact! Its too cold to do that anymore, though..." A disappointed grumble left her lips; obviously she was far from fond of the winter weather. Lets see...exploring. Well, there wasn't much to explore around here, and she was still adament about NOT going into the study; she hurt Jiro once when they went in there, so no more! Outside was a little on the chilly side, so that wouldn't work either. So what could they do...? Hm. Wait, wasn't she here for a reason anyway? ...Oh.
"Oh yeah!" She spoke out loud, confirming her thoughts. "I came here for stuff. Hey Ezra, wanna help me pick out some new pens and that? Since we're here, of course...Its not all that exciting, but its something to do, right?" She smiled again; her smile as bright and cheery as always.

" 'm not great at readin or anything," Ezra said modestly. "I just think 's fun sometimes." As for learning to swim... well, through great difficulties Ezra had managed to float on his back, but he didn't think swimming was all that great. Vidya really seemed to like it, though. "Okay, maybe you c'n teach me," he said. "Kinda too cold to swim now though."
Lots of brothers and sisters... Ezra was used to a lot of pets, but he didn't have that big of a family. It sounded confusing. Maybe that was why Vidya was so bouncy? You probably had to be very loud and energetic if you lived with that many people. Otherwise you might get stomped on. Hearing the irritation in Vidya's voice as she talked about the cold, Ezra grinned. "I hate the cold! 's no fun at all. Ruins everything."
Helping the girl shop didn't sound like too much fun to Ezra, but there was nothing else he could think of to do. His mom seemed to have fallen asleep in a chair, so she wouldn't be any help. "Okay, I'll look at pens n stuff with you. Dunno where the shopkeeper is though, don't we have to pay for stuff?" He peered around the shop worriedly. Ezra didn't have a clear memory of the shop's owners, but he knew that they existed.

"Its really fun with the right story. I just wish I was faster at it!" Vidya chuckled softly, shaking her head a little bit. She leaned her head to the side a bit, as he partially agreed to allow her to teach him. Blinking for a moment, she quickly raised her hands in a defensive gesture, giving him an eyeless, almost sheepish smile. "Oh...! I don't mean to force you into it! If you don't want to you don't have to, really...! Its not gonna hurt my feelings of you don't." She reassured the snake-boy, feeling kind of bad about it; to her, it sounded like she'd given him no choice but to accept.
"Ugh, Cold~ I dislike it greatly.." She made a face, one that partially stuck out her tongue in disgust/dislike. "But at the same time...I like snow. So I guess I'll let it off with a warning." She chuckled again, dropping the face she'd made earlier. Something pretty always made up for discomfort, in her eyes at least. The cold was worth putting up with...if and only if it snowed as well. Otherwise, it was just stupid.
"Yeah...I'm sure they'll come out eventually. If not I'll just leave them a note and money." She nodded, obviously having thought about that before. Jumping to her feet, she dusted herself off before looking around, wondering where to start. "Hm...Whats your favourite colour?" It probably seemed like small talk, but there really was a point behind this question, honest!
