Looking up at the sky, it was completely gray with no sun shining through. While the promise of rain was in the air, Jaloo was good at reading it. It wouldn't rain for a few more hours. That was enough time to go out and do something before she had to go back to her teepee and stay there during the rain.

Lately her two-legger was getting more irritated when she went out and got muddy. He used to love brushing and washing her, especially washing her. But now, he shook his finger at her and raised his voice. Naturally Jaloo couldn't understand what he was saying, but she got the jist of it. He didn't like her as much anymore. He was more focused on Starseeker now, trying to get her dad ready for breedings again.

"Well, excuse me for not thinking breeding is the most important thing," she snorted out as she padded along the path by the river. Many riders made this path, obviously. There wasn't any very tall grass here, no flowers grew, the grass was yellow and dead looking. Nevermind it was winter and everything was dead already; Jaloo didn't care about technicalities like that. She'd helped make this path all dead looking. Walking down it, she couldn't help but feel a little ounce of pride. Why? She didn't know, it just happened.

Her blue eyes looked out and she sighed heavily. "Where's all the foals? I know they're popping around here..." She played so well with foals, it was kind of odd. But, Jaloo hadn't really grown up yet. She was still extremely playful, very boyish. What do you expect when she grew up with four other males and one other female? Her mother, in her opinion, didn't count as a girl. She was a mother! At least, that's how she felt about it all. She was still looking for the foals when she stumbled over a big rock that washed up when the river last swelled and down she went in a heap of braids and legs. Getting to her stomach, Jaloo winced hard; her ankle was hurt. She wouldn't be able to walk on it for a few moments. "Shiiiiiiiit. Is it broke?"

Nivriti was on the wing, sculling the air with her wings, revelling in the feeling of the open skies, the wind playing with mane and tail as she flew along. She dipped closer to the ground, gliding along, looking around as she did so. She caught the flash of colour and movement out of the corner of her eye, and banked steeply, turning to see what it was.

Hovering, she saw the mare on the ground and angled towards her, coming down in a graceful arc before touching down on her back hooves, her fore ones hitting the earth with a soft thud a mere moment later. Wings folded, she approached the mare slowly so as not to alarm her, making a small noise to sound her approach if she had not already seen her.

'Hello? Are you okay?'

Soft thumps caught Jaloo's attention and she blinked, turning her head to look in the direction they came from. Ah! Another winged Soquili. It seemed they were extremely common! Even on of her brothers had wings. But wait. This one wasn't a boy. That made Jaloo do a double take take and she shifted uncomfortably. It was... another mare. Well, this was a first. The only other mare she'd talked to was her mother.

"Well... Hi? You just popped from the sky, didn't you/ You're mane and tail are in disarray!" She wasn't trying to be rude, but Jaloo couldn't help the laughter that bubbled forward at her own statement.

'Yes I did just pop from the sky I suppose.' Nivriti answered, quietly taken aback by how she was being spoken to for just having the concern to stop and ask if she was okay, but maybe the mare was in pain and just acting out.

'Are you okay though?' she asked again, striving to keep her temper, and her patience. Not that she often got mad, but she felt this might be one of those times! She completely ignored the words directed at how she looked, merely giving her head a shake to settle her mane.

If this grounded thought that flying meant you could stay looking perfectly presentable at all times than she obviously had no idea how blustery it could be up there.

Oh, right! Her ankle. Jaloo's face flushed a bit and she looked to it before sighing. "I think I twisted it. It hurts bad, and I can't move right now," she explained, frowning and then looking back up to the Wind. "And.... I uhm... didn't mean to offend you or anything. I know you can't look perfect. I just... I tease my brother about it all the time, so it became kind of a natural instinct." Jaloo dipped her head in an apology and then looked to her ankle again. She seriously didn't want to move, but she felt the need to, to stand up and put her weight on it. Sure, it was a bad idea, but knowing that didn't squash the absolute want.

"Do... you think.... you could, maybe, help me up? You don't have to. I did... kind of act like a jerk."

'None taken.' she said, retaining her good humour. Obviously the mare had slipped into a bad habit because of her sibling, but it was one to refrain from when making new acquiantances, she could easily offend someone right of the bat and never make amends.

'I can try.' Nivriti moved around the mare so that she was at her side, and she dipped her body.

'If you raise yourself up slowly, I'll steady you from this side until you get onto your hooves again. Try not to put any weight on the injured ankle though for now.'

When the other mare agreed to help, Jaloo followed her instructions and rose ever so slowly. Sure, her ankle still hurt, but it was a lot less than when the other had landed, so, it should be better soon. Besides, standing on three legs wasn't that difficult, it was walking on three legs.

"You. ...You're a life saver. I wouldn't have gotten up on my own," she said, grinning at the other mare with a charming, boyish grin. She couldn't help it; she met males, she had two brothers, so most things she did were rather boyish and reckless. Not like mares at all. "I'm Jaloo. Thanks again .....er..." She blinked, suddenly realizing she didn't know the other's name. Or didn't remember it if she'd told her.

'There..' Nivriti mumured when the mare was on an even keel. She moved away from her side when she was sure Jaloo wouldn't wobble or fall again.

'You're welcome.' she looked for a beat and then returned the smile with one of her own, thinking that the mare had a rather charming air for a female, but it was pleasant at any rate.

'Nivriti.' she said, introducing herself with a dipping bow, one foreleg out front, the other bent, her wings open. She straightened, folding her wings at her side and nodded at the mare's ankle.

'How does it feel?'

She actually felt better standing than sitting there on the ground, though it took the weight off her ankle. Shifting a bit, Jaloo grinned when Nivriti introduced herself. Finally! A name! And a bow? How wonderful. Girls were odd creatures to Jaloo; being raised around boys and seeing basically nothing but.

"It feels a ton better than it did when I first fell. That's what I get though, for being careless..." She sighed after that and flicked her ears to and fro. "So.... where do you come from?"

'What were you doing to fall and hurt yourself anyway?' Nivriti asked, taking a look at the ankle again, checking to see if it was very swollen. With luck it would be a mild sprain and she would be on it and walking properly again in no time.

'Oh from a fair distance away.' she answered. Truthfully she called about three place home; where her mate was, where her mother was and where her father was. It would have been just two places if her parents had stayed together but such was life.

'Are you from this area yourself?'
