With her tail and mane streaming behind her as she galloped, Nasnan gave a delighted snort. Running free was one of her favourite things to do. Heaving a sigh, the mare slowly started to decrease her pace, eventually leaving her standing all by herself in the middle of the small clearing close to the plains. Turning about, Nasnan gave a light grin as she took in everything surrounding her.

Spotting a river not to far from her, she quickly got up to take off towards it. She gave a pleased sigh at the cool water trickled down her throat. Looking up once more, there was a twinkle in her eye as she took note of the sun on the horizon. Shaking her head, she headed back to the area that she had previously been in at a lazy pace.

The larger stallion smiled to himself as he wandered the open plains, stopping to graze every so often. It was rare anymore that he was let free to wander like this from his two-legger's camp. Most anymore he was ridden around and more or less told where to go.

The sound of hooves thundering by drew his attention and the stallion raised his head to watch another run by, headed for the water. He watched until she was out of sight before following after out of pure curiosity. Whoever it was, it was no one he knew or recognized from the area.

Nasnan's ears perked up, having picked up on some sort of movement. She tensed momentarily before her body collectively relaxed. If she was in some sort of danger, they probably would of already done something. Gracefully, the mare lowered her head down to the ground, nipping at the grass every so often.

With a long sigh, Nasnan raised her head. She was slowly starting to get bored. She shook her head semi-furiously, trying to get bits of her mane away from being in front of her eyes, when she spotted another out of the corner of her eye. Freezing, she slowly turned to look at him. The majority of his body was a darker shade of brown than what she was. His legs amused her, having not seen the bands of colour around ones legs like that before. However the thing that really caught her attention was the headpiece he was wearing. Cocking her head to the side, Nas was puzzled as she attempted to figure out exactly what it was.

Hiamovi stood quietly as he watched her. It was a mare. A rarity in his eyes as most of the other soquili kept at his two-legger's camp were all stallions like he was. He was completely fascinated with watching her. She moved so gracefully compared to his own, often clumsy steps around his large feet. Smiling a bit in welcome, and trying to give off a good impression, he stepped forward in hopes she wouldn't bolt away from him.

That was one thing he was used to. Other wild soquili taking off at the slightest sound or creature headed towards them. She wasn't running though. Let alone moving. He swore she was studying him, most likely his headdress.

"Hello...?"

Hearing the stallion speak, Nasnan was extremely grateful for her chestnut-coloured pelt. If it wasn't for that, then she would of most definitely been a bright red at having been caught staring at the male.

"Uhm...hi?" She was unsure of what to say. Then again, what do you say to someone who just caught you staring at then? "I like your headpiece..."

Letting out a breath, she shook her head lightly, wondering if she could find any more ways to embarrass herself. She hadn't meant to say that, well, not out loud, at least. Taking a deep breath, Nasnan decided to introduce herself.

"I'm Nasnan."

The stallion chuckled softly at her embarrassment. He couldn't help but find it rather cute she was so shy. It reminded him much of a young foal who wasn't sure what to say around others. He smiled again, taking that as his cue to move closer to her again.

"Thank you. I'm Hiamovi. ...may I ask, what brings you around these parts?" He asked, genuinely curious of everything about her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." She went silent, thinking of her response to his question. "Nothing, to be honest. The two two-leggers that take care of me let me come and go as I please." She gave another shrug.

Looking around, she looked to see if there was anyone that he had had with him. Spotting no one, she turned back to him. "What about you? What brings you here?"

"Lucky." He said, coming to stand just beside her and look out across the plains for any nearby camps or other soquili. "Free to come and go as you please. That's a rare pleasure for myself or anyone else that belongs in my camp." He said quietly, glancing over to look at her.

"I enjoy the plains, rarely venture beyond them except to the river and lake. Too many foul run-ins with...'others' through the forest and mountains." He continued, fully facing her again.

"Rare?" For as long as she could remember, she'd been going off on her own. "It's a common occurrence at the two two-leggers camps that watch out for me. Though, I don't go too far- the camp is in the forest southeast of here." She gave a slight smile.

"Foul run-ins? With others?!" Her interaction with others was fairly limited; as far as she knew the only other soquilis to exist were the Usdia's, the regulars like herself, wind, and the flutters. All of them had been very friendly thus far.

He nodded, understanding her freedom. "They use us to move frequently. Our camp has never been in one place for more than one season. That's why you're lucky to be so free to come and go." He said.

He sighed after a moment and nodded, thinking back to those times as a foal. "Two-legger's refer to them as Kalona and Skinwalkers. Dangerous soquili and nothing you want to get tangled up with. They kill for the fun and thrill of it with no regards to any sort of life at all."

"Never for more than one season?" The shock in her voice was palpable. "We've never moved! Wow...I didn't know that people did that."

Her eyes widened to a point that would of been comical if she wasn't so horrified. "They kill for FUN!? What is wrong with them? That's just...that's sick!" She shuddered lightly, hoping that she would never meet a skinwalker or a kalona. "And...if I do run in to one of them...what do I do?"

"Most of the two-legger camps I've ever seen move every season or so." He sighed, hating the thought of the upcoming move. Again they would be at the lakeside for summer.

"Run. Flee. Get away as fast as you can." He said, looking firmly at her. "Kalona are horned with wings, leathery like bats. Long unusual tails..." he shook his head at the thought of them. "...and skinwalkers are exactly that. They wear the pelt of an animal, I've never once seen one remove it."

She shook her head loosely. "Not us...we don't ever really move."

She nodded firmly, understanding that it'd easily be a life or death type of situation if she didn't high tail it. "Flee. Got it. And skinwalkers wear the pelts of an animal? How does that work?" Her face alone showed how revolted she was at the idea of these two sets of creatures.

Hiamovi shook his head a bit, ruffling up the fur attached to his headdress as an example.

"Like the furs my two-legger attached to this for me. Only the full pelt of a chosen animal. Usually...wild cats or wolves." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Imagine just the fur of my headdress covering my back, hanging down along my legs and covering most of my head and face." That was the simplest way he could think to describe one without showing her one physically.

Flicking her eyes up at the headdress, she turned her attention back to him. Cocking her head to the side, she took the mental image that he provided in.

"But...wouldn't the pelt fall of?" It sounded logical to her, at least. Would it not need to be clasped, or tied, somewhere to make sure it would not turn, or fall off.
