 Hikaoru sat on a large toadstool, their minds wandering.
We are bored.
We are. We need a new toy.
They looked around, but nothing presented itself for their amusement. There was their toadstool, a large bouncy moss-green affair that they jumped on for a bit, but that had quickly grown boring. There were the huge trees around them, their leaves tinting everything beneath them with an emerald light. They had flown up to the lower branches, a good fifty feet up, or so it seemed to them, but had found nothing interesting there. So now here they were, sitting in the toadstool, bored.
With an impatient sigh, they stood up. If amusement would not come to them, they would just have to go to it. They headed deeper into the forest to see what they might find...

 Hiromi was running through the trees as fast as her little feet could carry her. Behind her she could hear it; another half soul that had found her. She was beginning to tire, having run for at least the past 10 minutes. Still, she kept pushing herself, her long hair becoming tangled as it streamed behind her.
Ahead, she could see another ghostling, and she ran straight towards him. "R-RUN!" She gasped out, waving her hands to motion for him to go back. Behind her was the shadow of the half soul that wished to merge with her.

Hikaoru raised an eyebrow. "Run? We think not. What on earth are you blathering about?"
Well, they had wanted some fun. This blue ghostling seemed to be entirely off her rocker, maybe they could entertain themself with her for a while. Run, indeed!
"Just what are we supposed to be running from, anyways?"

Keeping her pace, Hiromi looked over her shoulder to the boy. "Half Souls.... I have bloody enough of them, and I don't want any more." Her voice was soft, and usually cheerful, but not at this moment. She was a little to preoccupied running to put that perky cheer in her voice.
Looking over her should back at what looked like a dark cloud following them, she grabbed at Hikaoru's wrist to pull him behind a rather large tree in hopes that the soul would just go by; it'd worked before on other souls, so perhaps it was worth a shot.

With a bemused look and a shrug, Hikaoru allowed themself to be pulled behind a tree. This might be interesting. They hadn't heard of half souls before, but from the name alone it sounded almost akin to their state of being. If they were to lose each other, would they become half souls as well? Or were they, perhaps, already half souls, sharing one body?
"That explains why you're running, I still don't see why we would need to. What is a half soul, anyways?" They didn't even bother to whisper, completely unconcerned with the obvious nervousness of their companion.

"Shhhhhhh!" Hiromi watched with wide eyes. After a few moments of being completely silent, the mood could be felt changing, as if something heavy had suddenly started to lift. "Oh thank goodness it left." She let out a long sigh of relief, stepping out from behind the tree, then turned and put her hands behind her back, smiling brightly to her companion.
"Sorry about that! I hope I didn't take you by surprise. I'm Hiromi, what's your name?" The fear that had been in her eyes was completely gone, replaced with friendly joy.

Hikaoru sighed, rolling their eyes. From what they had seen so far, this ghost could be almost as mercurial as they were, and that was saying something.
"Our name is Hikaoru. Now that we or you or whatever appear to be out of immediate danger, would you be so kind as to tell us what, exactly, we were hiding from?" Their patience was growing thin, but they were curious what that thing had been, in it's own right and in how it might pertain to themself.
