As Bastion opened the door to a small unfamiliar cafe he breathed in the rich scent of roasting coffee beans and a small smile crossed his face. The man remained content however only for the three seconds it took before Carina and Orion began fussing behind him. The two had been cranky all day for no discernible reason and they seemed to be taking it out on each other, which meant he had to be around them all the time to mediate. Bastion was tired of the bickering, tired of the whining and the 'he pushed me, she pulled my hair' nonsense. For the briefest of moments he desperately wished they would both just go away.
For now Bastion had settled for fueling up on espresso while he debated threatening them with something other than no dessert and early bedtime which he'd already used to no avail.
Walking behind their father Carina and Orion glared at each other and mumbled under their breath. Both toddlers were furious at the other even if neither even remembered why they'd been fighting in the first place any more. Brother and sister were both simply certain that they were right and the other was wrong and should apologize.. for something.

In the shop there was a small table, and at it sat two odd girls. The one was a brunette, with horse feet, a simple black coat, and a soft smile as she read a book, sipping her drink slowly. The second was more cheery looking, drinking her tea and kicking her legs a bit as she happily chattered at her sister, blonde hair falling softly down over a rather interesting outfit. Her socks didn't match, her accessories didn't match, and somehow, all of her looked put together.
The blonde glanced over, spotting the two younger children and smiled. "Hi there." she called to Orion and Carina, waving a bit and fluttering her two lovely purple and gold wings.

In an instant the sibling's rivalry was temporarily forgotten. A new person paying attention to them was far more interesting than an argument, especially when that person was their age or just a bit older. Before their father could grab them the two toddlers had waved their way over to the table with the two girls. " Hi," they echoed the earlier greeting.
Bastion sighed and kept a close eye on the pair as he continued to wait in line. He'd march over there and drag them back at the first sign of their being unwelcome. As it was they were getting another don't go and run over to strangers talk when they got home. Loath as he was to admit it the dark haired man was finding harnesses a better and better idea.

Alice grinned at the little ones, amused by how cute they were with their fighting. "Hey, I'm Alice. Who're you two?" she asked, kicking her legs a bit under the table.
"That's my sister, Ismerauda." she added, pointing to the horsey girl. Issy waved a bit and took another sip of her tea, content to let Alice do the entertaining.

" I'm Orion," the small golden haired boy proclaimed fluttering his tiny wings as he spoke. His eyes flicked between Alice and the girl with the name he didn't think he could say becuase long names were hard.
The young redheaded curio grinned at the other siblings before introducing herself. " I'm his sister Carina." As she spoke the girl tried to draw a cup on her hand mimicking the one that Ismerauda was drinking from.

"Would you like to sit with us for a minute and have some tea?" Alice asked cheerily, pointing to two spare seats at her table. "You can ask your Daddy first if you need to."
The girl fluttered her own wings as she noticed Orion's. "Oh cute, you have wings too! I have a set - my Daddy gave his favorite hat for them!" she fluffed up the beautiful purple feathers as she spoke, leaning over to look at Carina now.
"Oooh and you can draw on yourself! That's neat! You both seem like such fun!"

Carina nodded and smiled " Thank you, you seem neat too" she admitted before looking over her shoulder to indicate to her father that not only were she and Orion currently not fighting anymore but that they had no interest in going back over there to stand in line with him. It was boring and there was always someone with really strong perfume.
Bastion rolled his eyes but nodded, they seemed welcome enough over there and at least the other children had put them in a better mood.
Orion stared at the girl with the Purple and gold wings "From a hat?" They didn't really look like a hat but then again the young herald was unsure how wings made from a hat should look.

"Yep! It was fuzzy with little gold pointies on it." she said, indicating the softer feathers and the hard pointed ones. "No idea why he had a hat like that but my Daddy's odd."
Alice pulled out the chairs for the other little ones to sit in and offered them a cookie from a plate that'd been on the table. "So what have you two been doing? Just going out for a walk with your Dad or what?"

Carina plopped herself down in a chair and smiled as she took a cookie from the plate. " I think all dad's might be odd," she admitted. The girl didn't know a great many fathers but well hers was strange sometimes and Alice's was apparently strange and some of the others she'd seen at the park were weird too. Maybe it was something in boys. This of course turned her attention briefly to her brother.. he was sorta strange as well.. yep boys had something weird inside them.
Orion meant to mention his own wings and the fact that they were supposed to come from a map he didn't remember during a time when he was bigger than he was now. The boy was distracted though by the new question and the offer of a sugary treat. " Just driving around while he looks at stuff and talks on the phone." It was clear by Orion's tone of voice that he didn't find this interesting in the least. The young boy liked riding around in the car but not forever and not if they never went anywhere fun.

Ismerauda took this moment to laugh quietly, "Joo do haff a point." she whispered quietly, voice quiet, floaty and a bit accented.
Alice nodded, taking another sip of her tea, "Yeah, that sounds a bit boring. We're on a break from classes today. The two of us and our brother go to a private school up here."

The small group of children talked for a while about school, the difference between girls and boys and why parent's were sometimes good and sometimes bad. Carina enjoyed chatting with the other girls and Orion was mostly just happy to meet new people, though he was slowly getting sleepy.
Before long though Bastion appeared at the table and smiled charmingly at the two mystery girls sitting with his children. "I'm sorry but I need to take Carina and Orion home now." He was glad to see them having fun but this wasn't really the place for long random playdates.

Alice smiled and nodded, "Sure thing! We were just chatting for a bit." the girl agreed, waving to her two new friends, "It was really nice meeting you! We'll have to spend time together again sometime!"
Issy nodded softly, "Have a good day." she stated, voice quiet and her accent still slightly audible. Well, that'd been interesting, at least. Different from their normal routine teas, anyway.
