It had been a whole week, or at least that was what Faye figured through her half conscious state. After everything that had happened, Faye felt glad that she warned Hiro away, hoped secretly that he would never find her.
She wouldn’t bare him being captured as well and tormented as she was. As terrible as things were with her eyes open, Faye feared the darkness that took over her mind frequently during these times. At least when she was awake she knew what was going on around her…
And the voices stopped.
Their terrible endless screams, beckoning, warning, banishing her from her realm of reality and into something someone her twin was more apt to handle.
But the only thing worse then the voices, were the dreams. Dreams that consisted of reality, of truths that had happened –happened to her- in that cage, the injuries she suffered, and the endless torment by the nocturnal. It was horrible, either state of consciousness… the young princess, only wished… with all her might, that she could end it.
The never dimmed lights stung at her dilated eyes, making them water as she crawled as far back the mesh and steal wiring would permit without further damaging the healing scabs and wounds inflicted upon her during the harsh capture. When nothing but white blocked her view out of the cage, Faye attempted to scream; but found no sound remained, only a raspy squeak, barely audible.
She had spent the week screaming… Seven days of endless torment, drawn out excessively. When the long orange nails of her latest tormenter turned a key in the lock, Faye cowered, pressing harder to the steel, opening the wounds of old in fear for the exchange of new ones. The nails reached forward, fingers wrapping around the scruff and lifting with all their might, making her already ragged nails pull against the wire Faye was gripping so tightly.
… The young hybrid knew it was no use that she would win… but still, her parents hadn’t brought about a quitter. While there was still hope, she had to try. Before the darkness came.
