+++About Eve+++

User Image
Name: Eve
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Beastcraft
Rank: Journeywoman
Appearance: Eve is quite petite, only 5'3”, just like her mother, though all of her brothers tower above her, much to her annoyance. She hates it when people lord their height over her and has been known to give someone a swift kick to the shin when they start cracking short jokes. Her brothers learned early on that this was a bad idea. Her hair is pitch black, she has lightly tanned skin, and hazel eyes. She keeps her hair short so that it doesn't get in the way when firelizards perch on her shoulder, though it has the bad habit of flopping into her face, making her push it back impatiently when working, so it tends to look a little wild most of the time. She is a very curvaceous woman, though any man caught ogling will get a very swift, painful lesson that she is there to teach people, not to fool around with every hormonal weyrbrat that happens to notice that behind those challenging eyes and fiery temper there is an extremely attractive woman. Don't ogle, she'll set her firelizard on you, and then kick you while you're down for good measure.

Personality: Eve has little (read 'No') tolerance for stupidity or people who don't take her seriously. She has an extremely sharp tongue that will tear a person down in the blink of an eye if they dare try and crack any jokes about her, or don't take her lessons (or her) seriously. People who mistreat animals will find themselves accosted by firelizards and herself. Growing up with five older brothers, she is a ruthless fighter when she has to be. Growing up in a craft that had a lot of boys didn't help things on that front. With age came maturity, though, and so she is less likely to physically harm someone these days than she is to psychologically abuse them with harsh words. Unsurprisingly, her low tolerance of people means that she has very few human friends, but those that she does have she will protect with tooth, nail, and word to her last breath. Even to her friends, Eve is rarely a very open cheerful person. Smiling is rare for her as she has the habit of scowling quite a lot. Pretty much the only time you'll ever catch her smiling or with a tender look on her face is when she is dealing with animals, especially firelizards. She is pretty much of the opinion that animals are far more intelligent that the vast majority of people that you are bound to come across. One of the few people she has a true soft spot for is her oldest brother Kormin who stuck up for her as a child and helped her achieve her dreams of first, going to Keroon, and then going to the Weyr.

+++History+++

Eve was born to holder parents not far from Keroon. She is the youngest of six children, and her older siblings are all male, meaning she had to learn to fight for what she wanted very early in life. While four of her older brothers went to help their father in the fields, Eve would help her mother clean up, and then hurry out to the stables as quickly as possible where she would help her eldest brother with the herdbeasts that they kept, as well as their two runners. She loved being with the animals, especially the runners, and learned how to ride from her eldest brother, Kormin, very early in life. When she was ten, her parents decided to send her off to Keroon to learn beastcraft from the masters there since she showed no interest in helping her mother around the house and was too petite to work in the fields with her older brothers. It was Kormin that talked her parents into sending her to learn beastcraft, despite their father's reservation at letting any of his children go, since every hand was needed on the farm, no matter how small it was. Kormin convinced them though, that having a daughter that was a beastcrafter could benefit them more as she would know even more about their herdbeasts and could help increase their herds, and thus their profits.
So Eve was packed off to Keroon where she all but devoured the things she learned there. While she was there, she saw her first firelizard up close, and was absolutely enchanted with the little creatures, though anyone bold enough to use the word enchanted on a girl like Eve tended to get a punch in the face. She continued her studies on normal beasts, but internally longed to make a closer study of the little flits that seemed to become more and more prolific as the years rolled by. Finally, when she became a journeyman, she was rewarded by one of her masters with a firelizard egg of her own. Ecstatic, she successfully impressed the little creature, and from that moment on she knew what she wanted to do with the rest of her life. While still at Keroon, she began studying her own flit, and others as well, making notes on how color affected intelligence, and learning how to work with firelizards of all colors and sizes. She focused intently from when her own flit was a hatchling on training it to her arm and shoulder. It would come when she whistled, could take messages, and she worked with it on developing its ability to send very clear images to her. It wasn't long before others with flits would come to her to get advice on how to train their own as well as hers. She had become something of an unofficial firelizard specialist in her time at Keroon.
Eventually, though, Eve went back for a time, not sure what to do with herself. Specializing in flits was one thing, but she didn't know how it could really be applied, and so she decided to think things over back home for a time before deciding where to go. She remained home for a few months and fulfilled Kormin's promise to her parents in helping them improve their herds, passing on some of her knowledge to her brothers so that they could keep it up after she left.
One day, though, a family friend of her parents stopped and visited their home. During dinner, in passing conversation their friend mentioned how Telgar Weyr and High Reaches Weyr were breeding firelizards like mad to help with the rapidly approaching menace of thread due to their lack of dragons and support since the plague years ago. Their friend (he was a trader and worked in a wagon train that traveled around on trade routes) had visited the Weyrs and mentioned that it seemed like most of the flits were not very well trained, not compared to Eve's flit, or so he believed after having seen how well it behaved.
Needless to say, Eve found this all very interesting and made her mind up then and there that she was destined for the Weyrs where she could really put her special knowledge of firelizards to work and help the Weyr people better train their flits and not just breed them willy-nilly. Why, with that many firelizards to choose from she would have no shortage of study subjects and could possibly even start a breeding program of her own.
Eve only stayed at home another week before she left for Keroon, much to her parents disappointment. Once again, though, Kormin was her spokesman and at his urging, her parents once again let her go. Not that they had much of a choice in the face of Eve's determination. This way there were no hard feelings though. When she returned to Keroon, she asked her master for a transfer to Telgar Weyr, and after she told him her idea, he agreed readily.

+++Acquaintances+++

Jada - Seems like a nice enough girl. Has some confidence issues I think, or at least very nervous. Keeps a pretty good handle on her firelizards, and listens well. She is also a candidate for impression, I think she will do well.

+++Posessions+++

User Image
Eve's first firelizard, Farran, given to her as a gift when she achieved her journeywoman status. He's quite smart for a blue, and very obedient to Eve.

User Image
Eve's second firelizard, Lin. She can be a bit possessive of Farran if other greens look at him, but is otherwise very well behaved, though more energetic than Farran.

User Image
Eve's third firelizard, Timo. He came from a clutch laid by a queen that Farran, rather miraculously, managed to catch when she rose to mate. This little brown looks up to Farran, despite being larger. He seems to quite fancy Lin, constantly bringing her small tributes of discarded shiny items, but she ignores him in favor of Farran.

Having been here for a few weeks now, I have gradually compiled a list of firelizards that live here in Telgar Weyr. No small feat as there are quite a large number of them, but I believe it is finally completed. It should be helpful in my future studies on firelizards while I remain here at the Weyr.

The List

*Note: List actually painstakingly compiled by Rown, and Eve would have access only to the information on the post about Telgar Weyr.
