AIM Log -- Nux and Pach
Roxdene & Rotem

Roxdene sighed rubbing her nose softly just below the reddening cut. The bleeding had stopped and yet the pain had not. It wasn't anything terribly dreadful, most a lingering pain that was irritated at the smallest twitch of her nose. That stupid hybrid had been so stupid. All she had done was say that she didn't necessarily agree with his point of view. And he had attacked her.

How rude.

She certainly wasn't going to speak to him ever again. His behavior had been simply unacceptable. Now she was out looking for the medicine cheetah to make sure her little cut didn't get infected. "Roooootem," she called out in a bit whine.

--

Rotem's ears had flattened back when the cry of his female companion, or rather his patient, had called out to him, turning his head to look behind him towards the approaching female form, frowning slightly while the name ground down upon his ears, before he sighed and slowly rose up to his feet, walking towards the other cheetah at a sort of half-caring trot.

Certainly he DID care if she was well off, but he could only dote upon her for so much longer before he had to distract himself with collecting supplies before he went on with this own life.

Though he couldn't really expect that bringing her along with him would have worked out very well in terms of this baggage. Not to say he didn't LIKE having some sort of companionship in the long run. But..... not in someone he needed to baby up all the time because of little things.

"I'm here. What is it?"

--

Roxdene certainly enjoyed the other cheetah's company, though it seemed as she was a bit of a trouble for him. Somehow she had a way of getting into a difficult spot. When they had first met she had hurt her paw racing against another cheetah (and damn him for beating her too >(!) and since then she had little bits of accidents that had left him having to care for her.

She couldn't blame him if he was tired of doing so.

It wasn't as though she wanted to be babied by him but she couldn't say that she didn't like him doing so. Too bad she was well aware it would come to an end sooner or later. "I got in a fight," she pouted. "See?" She pointed to her wound.

--

Oh goodness. That wasn't a very serious wound going on there now that he looked at it, frowning a bit before looking to the bag around his neck to fish through it with some curiosity, 'Hmm'ing thoughtfully in the process of it. Hmm hmm hmmmmmmm. However, now that she'd asked about it, Rotem couldn't exactly leave it to be.

After a minute or so, Rotem had fished out one of his plants, sniffing the leaf and then frowning at it a bit, before getting about to pressing it against the bleeding spot with a very stern frown.

"That's a rather simple 'wound', really." he said firmly, ears drooping just a bit, before sighing and adding "Hold your paw on this, it'll numb up the pain.." But not much else he thought to himself on the end, before looking back into his pack with a sort of frown on his face. Hmmmmm...Well, not much else he could do for her.

Though now he had to REALLY consider going on a supply run sometime soon. Too bad that would have likely resulted in a lot more potential disaster than he was REALLY willing to submit himself to... NnnnnNNnghf;jsflk...... He wasn't excited about it.

--

She nodded, it was a small nod to avoid knocking the leaf off. She lifted her paw placing it firmly down on her nose. She was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt to do so. "Thank you!" She chirped happily smiling at him. "I just didn't want it to get all infected and stuff," she told him nodding as if she was proud that she was thinking about that.

Having spent some time around him she noticed he carried lots of different plants and all were for different things and it fascinated her. "He attacked me cause he didn't like what I was telling him but I managed to avoid the worst of it," she told him pressing her lips together.

"How'd you learn so much about the plants you use?" She asked tilting her head in curiosity. In many ways she was very kid-like and she seemed to have a bit of a short attention span.

--

... Yeah, her wound was nowhere near close enough to getting infected. Especially because it had been willing to bleed like it seemed to. Which was rather important to keeping a wound clean, but he wasn't going to say that; if he did, she'd be picking scabs all the time! That would have made things a big ol' mess of fail for him.

She he held onto it.

"Plants? I've just collected them over my lifetime for the most part, I guess. I'm not quite sure how I picked up a knack for using them either. I just....use them. I don't really have to think about it." Well, that was a lie. "It was mostly observation. Watching others use it safely, so I've remembered what I can and can not use unless I want it to burn."

That last comment was from his own experience though.

--

"Oooh!" She mused tilting her head just a bit. "You don't have to think about it?" She repeated her features twisting in confusion. Now that seemed odd, he knew exactly what to use whenever? How cool! "Do you always know what to use depending on the issue?" She asked genuinely interested in what he had to tell her and share.

"That would be painful!" She exclaimed seeming nearly horrified by the fact that a plant could make an injury burn. "That would be very unpleasant," she stated looking worried at the thought. "Has anything ever gone wrong?

--

"Well, I don't have to consciously think about it. I do, however, have to at least decide which is the better decision between choice A and choice B. It's...complicated, I guess. I'm not good with determining the proper words for such a situation."

Which he..was only half-lying about, he guessed. Alas.

But the sudden horror from the idea of making an injury literally 'burn' did earn a slight start from Rotem, who hadn't been expecting Roxdene suddenly freak out at the idea. Whoa whoa whoa! Poor word choice on his part, go!!!

"Sometimes it can if I don't know the origin of how something got hurt. Not everybody will be honest about it. Or they'll wait and try to let it heal on it's own"

--

"Oh," she replied ears drooping. So he did have to think about it, at least kinda. "That makes sense," she told him curling her tail around her. She wished she was smart enough to be able to remember things such as which herbs did what, which ones to stay away from and more. Unfortunately she wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, and she knew that but it wasn't something she could help.

She certainly tried to be smarter it just...wasn't her thing.

"Yeah, but you've gotta admit Rotem," she began. "Sometimes the truth is totally embarrassing. I mean, who would want to admit they did something completely stupid that got them hurt?" She looked down at the paw not holding the leaf, she herself would've let her paw heal on it's own or make it worse by over exerting it, if her companion hadn't come along.

--

"I'd rather admit it than risk losing a leg." Rotem answered, sighing and moving to settle into a shady spot of grass, if only for his own amusement and comfort, before stretching out his legs in front of him and just frowning into the distance.

She did have a point that people, sadly, were confusing. He frankly didn't have much enjoyment for such a thing either. It, sadly, was not unusual for him to see someone die from an infected limb they'd felt inclined to chew off because it was hindering them.

That's how it was.

"It's subjective."

--

She frowned trying to process his words. Losing a leg? Now why would anyone want that? "I would rather keep my leg than keep something embarrassing a secret. That's stupid," she stated shaking her head. There were so many confusing creatures out there. She'd rather be alive and almost well than secretive and dead.

But people often had differing opinions.

"I guess," she replied heaving a sigh. "Some people would rather take some secrets to their grave," she shrugged. "What can you do?"

--

"There's not much you can do for those who hold pride above survival. Sometimes that's how the gene pool will wash itself out." he answered, stretching out, before resettling again. It wasn't an unusual train of conversation between the two of them, the whole thing deteriorating into a question of personal taste.

Then again, there was so much that a simple 'What can you do' could cover on that sort of a thought. What could they do about a lot of things?

There wasn't a lot he could do to begin with, so unfortunately for him, there wasn't a lot he could do about pretty much anything.

"You can only do what you can, as opposed to wonder what you could do."

--

"Yeah," she agreed pressing her lips together in thought. She let her paw drop taking the leaf down with it, her nose already felt tons better. "You're right. You can only help people as much as they'll let you and nothing more," she shrugged. "It's a pity really but whatever."

So many things could be different with the change in one decision. In both good and bad ways. But that was how life went on, always kept you wondering what would happen if you chose option b instead of a.

"People will always do whatever they want."

--

"That's just how the nature of the races are."

It was a sad common-sensical fact, unfortunately. What else could he really do about it? Not a lot. But he'd already established that notion into his head, so now all he could do was put it out of his mind, laying his head down on his legs and sighing deeply.

HmmmmMmmmm.

"Dwelling on it won't make a difference either." he added in a sort of amused manner, though his amusement was a little bit more 'pained' than anything else.

Now he needed a distraction. Hmmm.

--

"No, I guess not," she mused. Life would go on no matter what happened, well unless someone died but life would still go on for someone else. It was a never ending cycle. Everyone would meet their match one way or another.

Roxdene found herself looking at the pouch upon his neck. It looked smaller than when she had first met him, no smaller wasn't the right word. Emptier maybe? "Oh, are you getting low on supplies?"

--

Rotem glanced up at her. Hmmm? Oh. Oh right. "I'll need to leave within the next couple of days to start replenishing things." he explained, not seeming too inclined to skirt around the fact that he was pretty much implying that she wouldn't be going with him.

It was dangerous enough in some cases to do it by his own steam without keeping someone else a float.

"But that will be then. I'll think about it again once the sun has passed it's hotter days."

--

"Oh," she replied ears flattening against her head. She knew that he wouldn't be sticking around forever, but she couldn't help but be a little bit disappointed at the news. "I understand," she told him smiling a little. "I can't be the only one who needs a help from a healer like you," she mumbled thinking about it.

"But until you leave I will enjoy your company!" she exclaimed suddenly grinning. She was going to make the best of it, he was her friend and she liked having him around. It was that simple.

--

Well, he hadn't been expecting her to actually be all gung-ho about his desire to leave her to her own devices, but she had taken it a little bit..specially. Not that there was anything wrong with such a thing, it was just..special. Very very very special. At least she knew to make him feel wanted!

"Very well then. I think that's a suitable way to spend the last of our time together before I leave. But I'm sure we'll run into each other again once I come back."

Oh god, hopefully she wouldn't assume he meant RIGHT THERE FOREVER. She may have been inclined to camp out there and never leave again.

That would have been disastrous.

--

"I do hope so," she replied. Things would work out and perhaps him leaving for a while was best. She didn't want to seem like a clingy female trying to hold down someone who was nothing more than company, nothing more than a friend. It had just been a while since she had, had a regular person in her life. Not since she had long left her family.

But some time alone wouldn't hurt her either, she needed to do something with herself. She couldn't rely on him forever.

"Certainly! You'll have to tell me all about your adventure," she chirped. "And hopefully I'll manage to not get myself in to any sticky situations."

He wouldn't let her rely on him forever even if he did continue to hang around without going on his quest-to-heal-the-masses (something which would likely turn out very badly, if he did say so himself). If she was going to learn to play along nicely with everybody and not become a queen of eternal limp, he'd have to stop being the sport's coach.

Or something like that.

"Well, I imagine you'll be able to handle things well enough on your own~ You're quite capable, really." Certainly, to an extent, he was overestimating her real capabilities, but he figured that if she'd managed so well on her own up until that time, she could at LEAST manage to handle herself without him for a while as well. She'd done it for long enough as-was anyways!

--

"Yep!' she replied puffing her chest out a bit. "And I've already learned lots from you," she pointed out. It was true, since she had started spending time around the brown male she had begun to realize just how careless she was, which was probably the reason she ran, er limped, into him in the first place. Of course she didn't regret it.

However just because she got to know him and learned a bit from him, mostly being more careful, didn't mean she was going to completely change her ways, no she was going to go about her business as per usual, as if she hadn't met him. But she did know that whenever she got hurt she would do her best to -NOT- make it any worse.

"I'll just have to pay a bit more attention...I think."

--

"And be aware of your own limits." he added with a sense of caution. It didn't matter how much attention someone paid if they were a glutton for punishment; Rotem was going to become rather well versed in that, he just wasn't quite aware of it either. "Watch out for others. It will help you become more aware of yourself." he added on as a last-minute thought.

Sort of. Certainly, he couldn't say he was TOO well versed in the silliness that was...ohhh, children, per say. But he did know a thing or two about handling the behaviors of others, just based on stride, how they held themselves, an particularly how much they whined. The louder they whined, the less actual care they needed and the more attention they wanted. It was amusing, really.

--

"Beware of my limits," she repeated with a firm nod, that was something she'd have to be sure to remember, and if she didn't. Well tough noodles for her. "Watch for others?" That one confused her just a bit. But she figured he knew what he was talking about, and she was sure she could figure it out eventually.

"I will do my best to heed your advice!"

--

Rotem nodded slightly.

"It will serve you well." he replied vaguely. Serve her how? Well was a descriptor, but how well? In what way? Ahhh, whatever. If he wanted to sound all COOL AND MYSTERIOUS, she'd just have to let him. Besides... with a yawn, Rotem shifted in the shade again, as though in some attempt to get comfortable. Hmmmmm...Hnnngh...

"It seems like a good time of day to take a nap."

--

"I certainly hope so," she chirped finding herself yawning after seeing him yawn. Stupid yawns, they made her sleepy. Though she did suppose she had plenty of excitement for the day. "A nap sounds nice," she agreed bounding off to the closest, shaded tree and plopping down beneath it. "This day has been very exciting," she told him resting her head on her paws.

Closing her eyes she let herself drift to sleep.

--

Rotem watched Roxdene as she curled next to him, sighing deeply before closing his eyes as well.

It would be better for him to rest to get his strength back up before he started making his game plan than to idle the day away. He'd just think about it all later.
