It's less than a week away, and while my family never really does anything for it, I always like hearing other people's stories. My best friend's mother got married on V-day. (Makes things easy for the hubby. wink )
So what are your V-Day plans? Do you have a V-Day Avi?

I'm not a fan. It's a barrage of hetero-normative views on sexuality, marketing of silly consumer goods, ugly jewelry (diamond's are not my best friend), and in general fanatic -- supposedly romantic -- silliness.
I don't know. I'm not really profoundly against it, but I also don't care for it. I think it means a lot more to express love frequently than to make up a silly holiday for it. And I also don't get the whole idea that buying and screwing somehow symbolizes love.
Maybe I'm bitter, but I was never big on it.

I am an always have been a hopeless romantic, and even though I am always alone on v-day I enjoy seeing all the happy couples that dont need things to show love.
I personally just call whoever it is at the time I may be seeing and wish them well. This year I am working on v-day lol

I read a story once of this wife, who expected her husband to do something BIG on V-day, but her husband didn't do anything special. This went on for a few years, and she got really bitter about it. When she finally confronted her husband, he was confused. Didn't he bring her home flowers for no reason during the rest of the year? Wasn't he always telling her how much he loved her and how beautiful she was? Didn't they take romantic weekends in the summer and winter? Didn't he get her everything she wanted? Didn't she know she was the center of his universe? Why was V-Day so important when he spent the rest of the year showing her every day in little ways how much he loved her?
Yeah, the wife was mortified to say the least. I always think it's silly to depend on one day to prove your love, when true love is proved every day.

We're staying home and watching the Doctor who special, watching sci-fi together is one of our favourite activities, plus we're going out for his birthday, which is on the 12th xd We don't tend to do Valentine's day, but this year I saw something I wanted to get him, but I'd already gone over the birthday budget...so I'm getting it for his valentine's present as soon as I get paid.

i hate v-day personally.... my main reasons being mostly the same as Figuren's actualy, i just hate the fact that it's a consumer holiday hyping up some bastardized societally-correct idea of love. it's NOT love! it's not even what Romance should be! but all that aside, i see no reason to devote a CONSTANT EMOTIONAL NEED to ONE SINGLE FREAKING DAY! stressed
anywho, while i don't care about it for myself, i'm not gonna ruin it for those who do like it. but i am no fan of it myself, in fact, i hate it... >.>
Shan has her plans, and if she wants to share here she can. ain't my place to talk about her plans, heh... sweatdrop let's just say it's something i support and am glad for.

i'm very screwed for v-day. I usually spend it alone... and now i'm not and i'm very VERY screwed. Luckily, he doesn't usually do it either... but he told me to keep the day open.
...i think i'll show up with a dried flower or something.
