Nameless was once again scared for his life as he was pushed further and further from the spot he had known as his home. Why did his father do this to him? The small colts body was shaking uncontrollably as Thanos kept pushing him from behind. The herd members had been much like his father, and acted very negatively to the normal looking foal. But why? His mother was normal wasn't she. At least she didn't look as scary as the others.
"F-father please." The colt pleaded as he once again felt the nudge of the stallions hard bony nose against his back. He wanted so much to go back to his mother. She was the only one who seemed to love him. Without that love, well he wasn't sure what would happen to him. But he couldn't very well fight Thanos now could he. The larger stallion could probably kill him in one swift kick, so he had no choice but to continue away from his mother, from her love. He could only hope that she would come to his rescue in time.

"Come on get moving." Thanos snapped at the colt as he hesitated a bit. This wasn't something they could take their sweet time doing, it wouldn't be long before Regret found out what was going on. Thanos could only hope that the three fillies were keeping her busy enough that he could get away with it. Giving the small colt another shove, before glancing back. Good, there was still no sign of Regret. He just might get away with this."It's about time you dealt with this problem. Though we should just kill him and get it over with." "You can't kill him, he is your son whether you like it or not."Thanos' ears pinned back as the small foal called him father. Reaching out he gave the colt a good hard bit on his back. "I am not your father you whelp!" How dare the colt call him that! His only children were the three decayed fillies that were well accepted within the herd. This foal...he was an abomination. And the sooner her got rid of this little problem the better. Snorting at the rats he turned his head slightly to look back at them. "Killing him this close to the herd would only alert Regret to what we are doing." He would wait until he was at the farthest edge of their territory before going through with that.

Teeth sank into his back and he let out a scream of pain. Why was this happening to him! He tried to hurry up his pace, hoping that would make Thanos happy. Perhaps showing that he wasn't weak would win the stallion over. But he was so scared and couldn't force his body to do anything keep moving forward, all the while shaking violently with fear.
His heart was racing on this point. Where was his mother? She just had to come and save him. He chanced a look back at the large scary stallion that was his father, and instantly regretted it. The hatred seemed to drip from Thanos as he looked upon the small foal. Thanos wouldn't even let him call him father. What had he done to deserve this? Did the stallion not accept his mother into the herd. Was there anything different between his mother and himself? They both looked nothing like the others of the head. Tail tucked between his legs as he continued forward, hearing those words, that Thanos was going to kill him made him whimper in fear. He didn't want to die.

Thanos kicked out at the colt as he screamed. "Quiet!" His voice was dripping with rage as he stared at the trembling form of the colt in front of him. There was no way this foal belonged in his herd, he was so fearful, and so easily hurt. No, he didn't deserve to serve Thanos in his quest to take these lands over. His daughters on the other hand, oh they would serve him well.
"Make him quiet or that mare of yours will surely spoil this for us!" "Why can't you just let him stay? He's not hurting anyone."
"This is my herd and I will choose who stays and who goes." Thanos told Peace. The rat, while normally helpful, was being more of a pain right now than anything. At least War had things right, he needed to keep this little foal quiet and on the move before Regret came along. Thanos loved Regret but he would not let her stop him. This nameless colt was a complete abomination, it had been her fault that he looked so normal, so he was only doing her and the herd a favor by getting rid of it. He cast another glance over his shoulder, just to make sure she wasn't coming up on him before giving the colt another hard shove. "Move faster!"

Regret had begun to worry after a time, where was Nameless? It wasn't like him to be gone for so long and Thanos had typically come by to check on his daughters by now - strangely however both were absent and she had had a bad feeling about it. Your not supposed to care she chided herself as she flagged down Rowan and left the fillies in his care but she couldn't help it she continued this inner monologue - it's just instincts. And that was a suitable enough excuse for Regret to allow her to act.
Regret had never been a fast horse - at least not lately, not since well...no point in bring that up again - but the extra food she had been eating lately while still leaving her scrawny and unkempt looking after tending to the needs of four foals gave her enough energy to turn her typical plodding gait into a decent paced lope.
She had no idea which direction to start her search in and after bugling a few calls to the colt with no successful answer, had turned to regard the raven with a serious expression. Now wheeling high over head the bird had set off in a westerly direction which Regret followed. It was only a short time later that two shapes appeared in the distance, one large and black the other small, instantly she knew it to be Thanos and Nameless and the stallion was harrying the colt along in a fashion Regret didn't much like. Pushing herself to go faster - though her body so unused to the abuse began to complain, Regret ignored it and bugled another cry to the colt and stallion - the cry's tone somewhere between worried and angry.

Nameless was about to give up and let this stallion seal his fate once and for all. But then he heard a familiar sound. Could it be? Had she come to his rescue? His heart skipped a beat as the sound got closer. Oh he was saved! With a sudden burst of confidence the small colt turned around and let out a whinny at his mother. Just knowing that she as coming made Thanos seem a little less scary to him.
He came to a stop and shifted his weight around while waiting for Regret to arrive. She did love him! His eyes settled on Thanos for a moment and he let out an angry snarl at the stallion before returning to his frightened little colt stance. His tail wagged happily at the sight of his mother's form coming closer and closer.

Thanos' anger flared at the sound coming from behind him. Curse this slow foal! If it wasn't for that he would have gotten away with it. Snapping his teeth at the colt to silence him after he called out to Regret Thanos decided that if she confronted him on this he would just play dumb. After all she knew he had a horrible memory and didn't know how things worked most of the time so she couldn't be mad at him. Right?
"Blast there goes our opportunity!" War chripped angrily. "Serves you both right for trying to drive him away."
Thanos snorted at Peace. That was the last thing he needed right now was the damn rat taking Regrets side. Turning to face he beloved mare, his eyes were a dull red, the same shade the often held when he was confused about something. He decided to say nothing for now, since he knew no matter what he said she would be angry with him. Really he couldn't understand why she cared about this colt so much. He was normal and that didn't belong in this herd. Regret, while somewhat normal looking was anything but.

Regret slowed once she got close to Thano's and the colt, her ears flicking as Nameless called out to her before flattening at Thanos in a display of her displeasure. Though her sides were heaving and her neck was lathered after a run she was no in shape for Regret took the time to check Nameless over thoroughly for injuries, soft muzzle moving soothingly over the bite on his back as she whickered soothingly to him to still the fear that was still in his tense body. She wished he would stop being so fearful, if he wasn't so scared all the time perhaps Thanos would accept him.
Thanos...thats right, having pushed herself between Thanos and the colt she now wheeled about to face her mate with an angry look in her eyes. 'what were you doing?!" She snapped at the stallion "And you bit him! Why would you bite a foal? He's small and no threat to you"

Regret's touch brought an instant calm to Nameless as she gently brushed his body over with her muzzle. And while it hurt when she touched the bite on his back he knew she didn't mean for it to do so. Pushing his head into her neck for a moment he let out a content sigh before she turned her attention to his father. He was sure to stay behind Regret now, for she would protect him. Of that he had no doubts.
Peering around from behind Regret he had no reason to fear anymore. With a shake of his head he felt that weird feeling come on him again. Thanos was not something to fear, he was something he wanted to destroy. Ears pinned against his head the tiny colt barred his teeth and the much larger stallion. He let out a snarl as his eyes narrowed in hatred. If Thanos wasn't so much bigger than he was then Nameless would have gone on the attack.

Thanos snorted as he watched the little display of affection between Regret and the colt. It was absolutely disgusting the way she coddled him. Then she turned on him. Not like he had expected her to do anything else. But it always seemed so out of character for her when she did so. "What was I doing?" He repeated the question somewhat blandly. "Well..I was taking the boy for a walk. Trying to get in some father son time." Calling the weak colt his son made him feel sick, but he hoped it would make Regret ignore what he had truly been doing.
"Tell her the blasted foal tripped and you tried to catch him and that's why he has a bite mark on him." "That has got to be the stupidest thing I have ever heard."
Thanos eyed the colt as he took refuge behind his mother and changed his attitude. He had seen this a few times before, but it only ever happened when Regret came to his rescue. What did she think she would do when he was older...go into the battlefield with him to provide him the confidence that he would need? He gave his head a shake. No that's not what would happen. This foal would not see adulthood if he had anything to say about it. "He tripped. And I tried to catch him so he wouldn't fall, that's why he has that bite mark on him." Thankfully War had done a great job at feeding him that line even if Peace thought it was stupid.

Regrets ears flicked lightly as Thanos gave his story - she wanted to believe it. It would be somewhat - de-stressing to think Thanos might be coming around somewhat. She would be able to stop worrying whenever the colt got to close to the other herd members, whenever he was out of her sight or when his sisters tried to bully him. Honestly she wasn't sure what to do about Nameless, i things kept going the way they were he would lead a miserable life in the hell herd...but what other options were there? Regret didn't want to think about it. At least not at the moment.
"I don't believe you" She told the stallion with a bit of challenge in her voice, though she knew that was a rather stupid thing to do with Thanos she was sure enough of him to do so, Sh wasn't like the rest of his pathetic little herd - Regret was not afraid to push Thanos or anyone else when she decided to do so. Nasty habits from her previously nasty life. Thanos might get angry at her - he might yell, but she didn't think he would actually hurt her. Not permanately at least, not on purpose. She did not however elaborate on exactly which part it as she didn't believe the story about the walk or the story about the bite. Perhaps she ment both - she'd let Thanos figure that out for himself, perhaps it would distract him so much he'd forget about her little challenging tone.

The now hate filled foal sneered at his father as he spoke the lie. How dare he lie to Regret like that! Did he think she was stupid enough to fall for that story. He had said he was going to kill him. How did that equate to father son time! Taking a stepped out from behind Regret the colt held himself high, confident as he looked upon the one who was his father. His eyes moved to his mother, proud that she stood up for him and saw through Thanos lie. "He was trying to make me go away. He said he was going to kill me!"
Suddenly his posture changed and he gave his head a shake. Thanos was looking very scary to him again and a shudder ran down his spine. Taking a cautious step away from the stallion he looked at his mother. His eyes were desperate for her to help him out. "Please d-don't let him k-kill me." He pleaded, his voice a bit shaky.

Well, Thanos thought, he hadn't expected her to believe that. After all he had never shown the foal any sort of positive attention before, so why would he start now. Opening his mouth to say something his attention was diverted when the colt stepped forward and said those things. Curse him for having the confidence to do so in Regrets presence. The little colt was more of a pest now than when he was trembling in fear.
"Just kill them both! It will solve all our problems." "That's your solution to everything isn't it? To kill." "Of course!"
"He doesn't belong here." He told Regret with anger leeching through his voice. The colt was a menace. No one in the herd cared for him outside of Regret. He was doing them all a favor. Why couldn't she see that? "He will only slow us down. I am doing you a favor." Perhaps now she would understand. If not, then maybe Rowan could explain it to her. There was a chance he just wasn't wording things right. His mind was a jumbled mess most of the time.
His eyes moved back to the colt. He seemed to be trembling in fear once more. This confused him greatly. Why did he tremble one moment and then stand up against him the next? Regret hadn't left so there was no reason for the colt to change like this. He gave his head a shake. Just another reason to get rid of him. Clearly there was something wrong with him. Not in the way the other herd members had something wrong with them. Those were good wrong things, but this colt he had bad wrong things going on. Wait...did that make sense? His eyes returned to Regret. Damn what had they been talking about?

The temperament changes Nameless underwent were not lost on Regret - she had seen them at intermittent times when his sisters choose to torment him and while she couldn't quite understand the reasons behind them she had to assume he was merely somewhat confused - or still learning who he was. It wasn't entirely surprising given the world he had been born into. Such things would probably confuse allot of foals she assumed, and she gave Thanos a look when the colt had a brave spell and told her the truth. "Of course he will not kill you!" She told Nameless although her words and eyes were directed at Thanos. Regret made sure to put a bit of force behind them too. "If he does I shall leave...or die trying to" She threatened after a few moments guessing that that might make more of an impact of an impact on Thanos then anything else. "No one else will hurt you" She assured the colt, glancing back at him before turning her attention back to Thanos.
"Maybe he doesn't" She agreed - Nameless in her opinion deserved a chance at a better life elsewhere "But he is too young and has no place else to go.." She told Thanos with a sigh though she wasn't sure what exactly he was slowing them down for - the herd as far as she could tell was not going anywhere quick.

Thanos had to struggle to hold back every nasty word that came to mind when Regret told the foal that he would not be killed. Damn he loved Regret, but there were a few rare times, like this moment right now, where he seriously questioned himself as to why he had bothered with her. Blast his heart! He wanted to get rid of the colt already, have him fade away like one of his own lost memories. Seemed as though that would not happen today. But he would keep trying until he succeeded. One of these days Regret would not be there to stop him. And he would make sure of that. If he had to get Rowan to hold her back while he did the job then so be it.
"You cannot decide if he lives or dies." War squeaked madly at the mare. "Yes she can. He is her son, she has the right to protect him."
Turning his head slightly he addressed the rats. "Stop putting your nose in my business." It was clearly directed at Peace and not War. He returned his gaze back to Regret, every breath he took was a snort of anger. He knew he could not win this fight, doing so would mean he would lose her. And then what would he do? He would be lost without her. The idea of living without Regret saddened him, but he pushed that thought aside for the moment. He had to focus on the present, on what was happening now. Think about the future later.
"I will not tolerate him in my herd when he grows." He told her with a shake of his head. "Keep him. Do what you wish for now. But know that the day will come when he must leave. And you will not stop me then." It wasn't the compromise that he had wanted but perhaps letting Regret win this small battle would help her accept the colts future. With one last look towards the small colt Thanos turned and began to trot back to his herd. There he would find he beloved daughters and others loyal to his cause. There he would find his peace.
