Most of you probably already know this, but just in case, here's some info.

The H1N1 vaccine is not vegan. It contains chicken eggs. And not the unfertilized ones you buy at the store. It uses fertilized eggs, actual unborn baby chicks.

Since demand for vaccines is high (requiring about 600,000 unborn babies a day), chickens have been crammed into windowless warehouses and are breeding around the clock.

Worse than being crammed into a warehouse and used in a breeding program is the fact that the chickens are all killed before they even see their first birthday. The reason being that older chickens supposedly don't make good enough eggs.

I feel bad for government officials and healthcare workers who have to get the shots or lose their jobs.

Yeah, that would be difficult.

I also feel bad for people who have other health issues that would make getting the flu dangerous. They might not really want the shot, but they might not be willing to lose their life over not getting it either.

If you need it you need it. It's as simple as that. I don't avoid medication that I need to live on the basis that it was most likely shoved in a bunny's eye sockets or some other such cruel act. We live to the best of our ability within the society we live in. We can advocate for change, but we can't advocate if we're not around. That's just my view on that whole can 'o worms.

However. I do feel that the vaccine is over sold, and that's a problem for me, because people that don't need the vaccine are being given the vaccine which is truly unfortunate. I don't need the vaccine, I don't take it. But it was pushed on me as a 'precaution'.

I completely agree. I hate the way the animals are treated. But I also want to live. So even if I wasn't thrilled with it, yes, I would take drugs that were tested on animals or that contained animal products if there were no other alternatives and I needed the drugs to live.

But the H1N1 vaccine is an extra problem because, like you said, people are getting it who really don't need it. And that's just making things worse. I feel like they're using scare tactics to push it on people.

Isn't H1N1 not even dangerous? Wasn't it just the scare that made it seem so awful? Wasn't it just the suddenness of it that made it look like disaster, plus the fact that the 1918 pandemic was basically similar to the 2009 pandemic?
Besides, most of the deaths were in Mexico, where the healthcare is crap anyway, so they won't get treatment.

I don't see how people can get worked up over something like this, even if the pandemic has died down. More people die in car crashes every year.

(My mom told me all this stuff months ago... I don't know if its actually accurate... but her professor said all this stuff so I believe it)

Least I don't need a vaccine. Had H1N1 supposedly and it really wasn't as bad as a regular flu, or at least in my case. But we never went in for tests or anything so it wasn't really confirmed.

Also the vaccine has mercury in it, doesn't it? I think I heard that on the news one night.

Oh and Lewellyn I have a question. Do you know if all shots like this? I started to read the second link and saw this:
"Fertilized chicken eggs are a central ingredient in the making of flu shots."
That means all flu shots are like this right?
What about other vaccine shots? It doesn't directly say any other vaccination type, or at least as far as I've read, which is to this point.

As I understand it, H1N1 can be dangerous for some people (elderly, babies, people with compromised immune systems), but it is not dangerous for most people.

But yeah, there seemed to be some scare tactics (possibly to give the drug company who made the vaccine more money?). And since people weren't really familiar with H1N1 they sort of freaked out.

And yes, I believe most of the vaccines have mercury, but I did hear of mercury-free versions too. I think those were mainly for pregnant women if I remember correctly. According to the CDC the mercury level in the vaccine is safe (for everyone other than unborn babies I guess). But I thought no level of mercury was really safe. So I don't know what to think about that.

I'm not sure if the regular flu vaccine contains chicken eggs or not. And I'm not sure if other vaccines do either. I'm curious now what other vaccines have in them.

On a similar note, I went to the doctor last week, and they tried to push the HPV vaccine on me. The HPV vaccine seems a lot like the H1N1 vaccine in that most people aren't going to die from it and really could do without it anyway, yet people are pushing it on people like they're going to die tomorrow if they don't get it.

Okay then.
I'm pretty sure any other flu shot has eggs in it. At least thats what it sounded like in the article.
I already have my HPV shots in me. Don't see how they're going to help since I'm not planning on even doing protected sex. More scare tactics. *Sigh* Too many lies floating around. "If you don't get this you'll die!" Wow, that from a mouth that shovels in two McDonald meals a day.
I hate people like that. -_-;

And I do want to thank you Lynn. I'm actually going to get off my lazy butt and start researching. =D
Thanks for the motivation!

I actually had H1N1 in November, I believe, and it wasn't any worse then the flu. I see no point in getting the shot now anyway, and this knowledge has further pushed my decision against getting it.
I've also avoided the HPV shot because I've heard that it's super painful (I'm a wimp, haha) and that a lot of girls got sick after getting the second injection. Nooo thank you.
