[ This is an rp log between Polette [Yu Zhou] and Velveteen Angel [Illi'ella] ]
PostPosted: Sun Feb 07, 2010 5:49 pm

Slinking his way through the grass, Yu couldn't help but think how vibrant he must seem compared to the dull greens and browns of the savannah. It felt good to stand out, and his mother had flaunted his beauty to every living thing around, which may have contributed to his large ego. Flicking his neon green eyes around, Yu wasn't focused on anything today. He had been trotting forward since the bright sun had awoken him earlier in the day. There was just nothing for him anywhere, and he would only stop for the right kind of creature.

Ili'ella was sunbathing on a rock that was partially hidden by the long grass surrounding it. Her brightly coloured fur sparkled in the sun as she stretched, yawning lightly. It was a silly idea to be on her own and napping, but she was tired and she didn't have a travel companion to watch her back. Usually, she was safe on her own, so she didn't think that today would be any different. She could take care of herself, she knew, without a doubt, though she wasn't a strong fighter. Openign her eyes at the sound of a familiar birdcall, she laughed as she spotted a brightly coloured bird fluttering just above her, obviously curious over the strange looking lioness. "Hello little one," she whispered, her voice soft. "What are you doing here?" The bird shrieked, as if just realising by the sight of her teeth that she was a predator. It took to the sky again, launching itself high above. She shook her head, a light laugh working from her throat. "Goodbye birdy," she said, lowering her head again, amused. Birds tended to like her for her colours, though they didn't like her teeth. What a pity! She could have made a friend...or had a snack. She giggled, closing her eyes again.

Padding along, Yu found himself humming an overly cheerful tune. He didn't fancy the silence, as it reminded him of the eerie silence of his den when he was growing up. He was still barely past adolescence, but he was old enough to know what was happening while he sat alone on the dirt floor. Yu was a single cub to a single mother, a mother who spoiled him far too much than she should have, and he grew up focusing wholely on himself and his needs. Bad parenting 101? Keeping his mind on the music that vibrated up through his throat, Yu bobbed, loving the feeling of his silky mane washing through the slight breeze. He wasn't paying too much mind to what was ahead of him, or the fact that there was actually something living in his path. His young heart was off in a sort of dreamland, filled with pastels and neons, where everything had soft, sparkly wings.

Ili'ella had been just drifting off into sleep again, when she heard a soft hum. It wasn't a tune she recognised, nor was it a bird call that she could easily pick the bird it had come from, it was something different. It was...another cat? One of her eyes flicked open, peering around her surroundings, trying to spot whoever it was.  She was still lazing on her rock, not keen to get up. Perhaps it was simply a passing creature, who wouldn't stop or perhaps it wa sa cruel male, lulling people in a false sense of security. When it came apparent she wasn't going to see whoever it was from her position laying down, the female lioness carefully pushed herself onto her stomach, the added height lifting her above the grass line. Once more, she scanned her surroundings, trying to find the other creature. She spotted Yu easily, his colours standing out agains tthe stark evironment. Her eyes lit up, blue tail flashing eagerly. Oh! What a beautiful pelt! He had not spotted her yet, so she watched and waited, humming along with the tune he was making up.

It seemed that she haze Yu was in wouldn't lift until he rammed into something. In fact, he was right in the middle of bouncing on giant pink and yellow mushrooms with a blue jackel when he felt a stinging pain in one of his paws. Angry, he flicked open his neon green eyes, his head staring straight down at his throbbing paws, oblivious to the bright lioness that was perched just inches away. His ears flicked, and gave his paw a small lick, flexing his toes to try and divert the pain. With a quick sniff, Yu's eyes widened, and he raised his head slowly, a bit worried that the scent that he had ignored up til then was that of a friendly creature. In his eyes was the reflection of a bright lioness, one that's pelt easily matched the beauty of his own.

Ili'ella couldn't help but giggle when the male appeared to step on something, still not realising that she was there. This was more than a little amusing, she realised, watching him fuss with his paws trying to dispel whatever he had stepped on. When he raised his head, finally noticing she was there, she tilted her head to the side, a bright smile on her face that matched the brightness of her coat. "Greetings, bright one," she called to him, though he wasn't far away, her voice lyrical as if she was singing the phrase, not just saying it. He seemed harmless enough and he was bright, like she was, so it was impossible to think he would harm her, right?

His mind floated away for a moment, the bright lioness before him now part of his fantasy world. They flitted around briefly, before Yu returned to himself. "Hey." His voice was masculine, but not overly so. He seemed to scream 'teenager,' but he had none of the usual symptoms. He was more like a small cub with hyperactivity. "You're a bright one as well." He smiled, feeling uplifted by her light and sunny colors. They were two of a kind, and Yu was all too happy to bathe in that fact.

Ili'ella tilted her head to the side at his delayed reaction. Her smile stayed on her face though, amused by the creature before her if nothing else. "Thank you," she said, shifting on her rock, looking pleased. Her coat was her pride and joy, since she had nothing else to lay claim too being the wanderer that she was. It was the only thing that went with her, wherever she went. "What are you doing out here?" She asked, her curiousity obvious. Wondering perhaps, if he had a plan in mind or if he was just like her, wandering for the sake of wandering.

"I don't." Yu flicked his eyes to the side. "I guess I'm just going til something amazing stops me." The real world was just too un-glamorous for Yu; it was the main reason why he had his own little world that he lived in for most of the day. With all of the dull colors, unfabulous creatures, and boring sceneries, he really had no reason to spend much time in one place. The most excitement he got was in his long journies, with changing sceneries. "But such is the cursed life of the amazing, hm?" His tail flicked and he smiled, thinking nothing of calling the two brilliantly colored animals 'amazing.'

Ili'ella could relate to his mentality, though she had no other world to inhabit and she was quite content in the world around her, despite it's rather boring moments. She nodded to him, as if to show she understood his reasons. "Amazing, hm?" She said, giggling lightly. She wouldn't go as far as to say they were amazing, but their coats...well they were obviously something else entirely. She returned the smile just as brightly as earlier."Have you seen the birds that live in the forest, may I ask?" She said, curious. "Their colours are so vibrant, you would think they were made of pure colour." Her eyes sparkled, remembering the times she had traveled deep into the forest to find them.

"I haven't, no." Yu's ears perked at the thought. If such a thing existed, there was no way Yu could go through his life and not see it. If there were vibrant birds that lived somewhere, he wanted to capture one for his very own. And who's to say there were just vibrant birds there? If one species was rainbow-like, there had to be many, many more. The thought made Yu's imagination world ooze with new pictures and creatures.

"You should," Ili'ella encouraged, smiling. "It's not far from here, just beyond the grassy areas and you'll come across a clutch of trees. The furhter in you go, the brighter things become. There are some beautiful flowers as well." She glanced over her shoulder, remembering her time there. It was a beautiful place, no doubt, and she doubted if she would ever see it again. She would loose track of it in her travelings, but maybe some day she would stumble across it agian. "It is well worth the walk it takes to get there," she admitted.

Yu mulled the thoughts over a few times in his mind, the vivid pictures of flying creatures and birds with fantastical wings blocking his open eyes from seeing what was right in front of him. "I suppose...." His eyes were still far off, slowly fading back into the world he was standing in. "I shouldn't waste any time here." He smiled. He didn't mean that the company was bad, more that the prospect for the future was a bit...brighter. "I hope that your world gets a bit brighter as well." He looked around, eyeing the dull surroundings. "If I were to find a place as magical as you describe, I don't think I'd ever leave." He bobbed his head, wanting to run as fast as he could until he reached the forest of color.

Ili'ella nodded. She didnt' take offense to his words, she knew what he'd meant. Had she never seen the sights she'd seen, she never would have waited around either. She returned his smile lightly, nodding his head. "I left because I couldn't stay still. Perhaps one day, I will return to the bright place, but until then, I am content taking my own piece of brightness wherever I go." She kept her answer short, knowing he was eager to get where he wanted to be, which was no here talking to her. "Go," she encouraged. "Do not worry about formalities, I understand. If you go now, you may reach it by sunset and see it really come to life," she smiled, watching him like a mother would watch a hyper cub, with fond amusement.
