Aisling ran ahead of her wolf companion, even now she was still uneasy about him, she knew he'd never attack her through the mutual respect they had for one another and what they offered each other. Aisling beginning quicker on the ground than the wolf made for a good scout and also, though she hated doing it, could often point him towards prey without scaring them herself. While he offered her protection, allowing her to eat and drink in peace. It was a strange relationship but it was practical and it worked.
She came to a break in the forest and stood and looked back the way she had come but suddenly ahead of her she sensed another creature. Her nostrils flared and the scent of a foreign wolf entered her nasal passage, it was not one she had smelt before when they were once closer to Cocidius' old pack. Her eyes widen in alarm and she looked back over her shoulder once again, not spotting her protector she stamped her hoofed foot down onto the ground severely and then took off into the undergrowth.

Cocidius walked along silently through the dense forest, the carpet of moss muffling all sounds of his movement created by his paws, the only noise was the odd swoosh of a lower branch of one of the trees as it brush by his body. It had been a few days now since he had lost his way from his pack lands, the turmoil that had erupt caused him to lose his way but with Aisling's help he aimmed to return to his brother's sides soon and more to the point to the warmth of his beloved Zelsius.
Thoughts of Zel swam through his head when his revere was broken by the sharp rippling of vibrations caused by his familiar stamping a warning to him. His eyes narrowed and he lowered himself to the ground, into a hunting pose. Aisling rarely signalled so for another of his pack members, they were aware of his bond with the deer and thus she did not fear them like others. Cocidius knew he was still a great distant yet from the pack lands and the likely hood of her warning signal indicating the presence of an unknown wolf was high.
Either way he did not think it wise for the other wolf to see his cloak which would indicate his alliance to the brotherhood. Painfully he decided to shed his cloak and bury it for safe keeping. Now without something he had worn since a young adult he felt naked and somewhat vulnerable but he pushed those feelings aside and with one last longing look at the marked place where he had buried his treasured cloak he strode forwards.
He advanced in direction the vibrations had travel from, the scent of Aisling indicated the route she had took in flight. He did not tread upon the break in the trees where the hoof print marked Aisling's warning but instead kept to the shadows of the forest and tried to spot the unknown wolf.

Kalina had no thoughts other than her hunger, her stomach rolling and snarling in twisted ways. She needed a good meal or she was going to end up having a very long night later on. Her thoughts drifted in an out as she trot through the brush, wondering along her need for a pack and the rumors that there was a kind one not too far off. She'd need to meet with them. Her head shook furiously.
Now was not the time to think about anything other than getting a meal into her belly.
Her head lifted, eyes closing as she attempted to catch the scent of anything close by. The moment she caught one, her mouth nearly watered. A doe, rather young, seemed to be alone. She was so distracted by her own hunger she did not caught the scent of the male, or perhaps she would have been wary about the hunt.
Hunting on her own would be difficult, but she was not going to let this oppertunity pass her by. Her paws moved as quickly as should as she could, ankles like springs as she tore through the path in the forrest. Her lips curled upwards as a deadly snarl left her, leaping from the ground in an attempt to tackle the doe.

Aisling fled, allowing Cocidius to deal with the foreign wolf but it wasn't long before she heard the other wolf come crashing through the forest. She knew Cocidius had to much respect for the forest to charge through it at such a pace if only to reach her and thus she hesitated a guess that the other wolf was hunting her. Nostrils flared and eyes widened, her ears flicking about, all her senses picking up pace as she fled now for her life, her legs working harder to carry her away from her death. Where was Cocidius?
Cocidius didn't have long to watch the other wolf, to stalk and access it as he had wished as a green marked female burst through the undergrowth and charged forwards down the path Aisling had fled some moments ago. He did not hesitant as he gave chase, he swung about and darted forwards though the forest. Finding it hard to to run at such a pace in the denser part of the forest, he emerged from the thick of the wood, leaving the warm moss carpet to his left as he now had to plough through the snow where the forest grew more sparsely allowing the elements in.
The female was quick, quicker than him and he growled with frustration as he was losing her. Cocidius was not built for these sorts of sprints, built more to ware his prey down over time and then tackle and wrestle them to the ground. He hoped Aisling was quicker than the female who pursued her and that he had time to catch up when the spirit became a lopping run.
Aisling's ears flickered, the winter air rushing past her nose told her nothing of what as going on behind her now but her ears caught the sound, not one wolf, but two. Despair filled her as she wondered if it was several wolves now hunting her, knowing Cocidius would not risk saving her against several wolves, she was not worth that much to him. A small part of her also hoped it was him though and thats what drove her on, striped legs briefly touching upon the snowy ground and springing her forwards.

Hunger was controlling her mind in a dangerous way. She was so hungry, she simply lost the ability to care about anything else.
The hunger was what would be her downfall. Running after the other without fuel, without the strength of the good meal was getting more and more difficult. She used every muscle in her body, tensing and slamming her paws into the Earth below her to force her to run quickly.
It seemed to happen all in a split-second. Weakness rushed through her viens and her paws got caught up. Her body slammed into the grass below her, sliding until she came into contact with a prickly bush that shoved thorns into her furr.
Before she could stop it, a whine left her. The doe was gone and there was no chance she would be able to catch up with it. Now she had to try to find a way to bite all of the thorns out of her furr. She was tired enough that she didn't get up for a moment. Instead, she lowered her head and attempted to regain her strength so she could go on another hunt.

Cocidius felt himself getting into a rhythm, paws striking the hard packed winter soil; thankfully the ice and snow had thawed in these thinner areas of woodland where the sunlight could caress the ground, allowing him to run without little care of slipping. He knew Aisling would be tiring soon, the doe was built for speed not endurance, he would have to catch both her and the other wolf soon or it’d be to late, luck was however on his and his familiars side. A few more paces his eyes targeted the wolf that was in pursuit of Aisling, she wasn’t however still in pursuit. His eyes dashed about over the scene, looking for blood or the green doe on the ground but he did not see her. A confused sort of frown crossed his brow and he looked onwards down the path and there she was standing, nostrils flaring and her lungs causing her chest to inflate harshly as she panted trying to get oxygen back into her now tired muscles. She looked at him and then with a slight dismissal she disappeared into the denser part of the forest. He knew then that they had been lucky and that he’d have to make it up to her, working hard to keep his bond with her.
He turned his attentions back to the wolf who was now laying among the beginnings of a thorn bush, the rest of the briar so thick it evidently had stopped her stumbling further. He had not seen a female in such a long time he had almost forgotten what one looked like and the way they smelt. He remembered many of his brothers talking about their hatred of them but as he had only known the brotherhood from being brought there as a pup he had never encountered many females and even then at a distant. His dislike of them was only present from the tales the other males wove of them but Cocidius was a level headed wolf and was willing to give everything and one the benefit of the doubt. He took a step forward towards the she wolf and then hesitated. If he was to return to the brotherhood then he could never admit to this, to approaching a female, he debated on turning away but something told him to at least see if they really were like the tales that he had been told.
He took a few more steps and then stopped two paces away from her and looked down, she was exhausted, not just from the sprint but from lack of a good meal, you could see it in her eyes. A poor hunter perhaps and a lone female, which he was thankful for; he did not want a whole pack to have seen him. His voice was haunting, like a chill wind, ‘The doe was lucky and so was I, that you were too weak to catch her.’ His eyes danced over her unashamedly, not in a lusty desiring sort of manner simply in an observing and accessing way. Her coat was riddled with thorns, some would shake out though others would not, her body was sleeker than a males, not built for strength. He remembered his brother’s tales of lust and allurement and false promises and a mixture of feelings played in his mind. He should walk away and leave her but something deep rooted in him wanted to lay alongside her and help her pull out those thorns, one wolf helping a fellow wolf like he would with a brother. Thus he simply stood looking over her conflicted, wondering whether to walk away or to aid her.

"Lucky, indeed." The female murmured as she struggled to raise herself from the bush, staring at the male. He was slightly odd, for she was not used to someone examining her as though she was completely forgein. "I apologize. I did not realize that you and the doe were close. A hungry wolf does not assess these things when she is desperate for a meal." Her head lowered slightly in a bow of apology.
She needed to get up and try again, find something smaller and more catchable. A rabbit, perhaps. Or a squirrel. Something, anything that she could get on her own.
Her stomach growled loudly and her body shook a little, causing her to give a soft whine. Ow. She reached around and try to dig out the thorns with her teeth, but there were many she couldn't reach and would have to struggle to get out of her.

He stood staring at her, her voice was that much softer than a males with a hint of vulnerability, was that how they lured their male in, begging for aid and comfort? He shook his head and looked at her, a life time without interacting with the opposite sex now left him at a loss. He stared at her wide eyed and then he looked away, looked for a way to escape this situation to simply walk away and leave her to recover and try and find something for her stomach by herself. He looked back at her once again, still wide eye in wonderment and confusion.
He blinked and swallowed the moisture in his mouth and then turned away from her and took two steps forwards but something grabbed him then, clasped his heart and caused him to stop. Leaving a fellow wolf in that state that she was, was morally wrong and it was not in his nature to do it, to simply walk away and leave her, offer no aid. He took a deep breath and looked over his shoulder at her and then turned his whole body to face her and retraced those two steps. Looked down at her and then simply complimented her, 'Your very observant.' He presumed she had noted the way Aisling has stood there without fear once he had appeared from behind the wolf which had been casing her before simply melting into the forest. 'I suppose it is not a common thing to become bonded to one's dinner.' He smiled down at her then and finally gave into his internal struggle.
He took a step closer and held her unusual violet eyes with his olive green and never broke them as he lowered himself down alongside her, if she was uncomfortable with this he'd read it in her eyes and back away. As it was she seemed to welcome the little help, her eyes warming ((Sorry, I didn't think you'd mind this little bit of God-moding, I wouldn't usually dare with anyone else but you.)) at his gesture. He settled himself down and with one final acknowledging look he leaned in close and gently helped her remove the thorns.

Kalina did what she could to focus on removing the thorns that were stuck in her furr, but she paused when she realized he was leaving. For some reason, she was a little hurt by that. Did he not find her worthy of his help? It was obvious she needed it, but he was leaving.
When his steps paused, so did her own movements and she stared straight back at him. His smile made one of her own appear onto her maw and she could not help the slight flutter that she felt at his words. He was indeed a unique wolf and such a thing made her curious and a bit excited. "It is true," She stated, "I have yet to meet another wolf bonded with a doe such as you are." Her tone was light, hopeful that he would indeed help her.
His steps guided him to her and she was pleased. It was not something that she would hide at all, for she felt contentment knowing that he would help her.
"Thank you so much," Came her next words, just as light and happy as the others. "I've never had so many stuck in me before.. These bushes are such an annoyance."
[I trust you with everything, dearest. So no worries. <3]

Cocidius didn’t say anything, he knew the temptation to hunt was strong in most wolves, of course their were those that lacked skill but all wolves had to eat and therefore had to hunt but to tackle a doe in good health when you yourself were weak from malnutrition, well maybe not that extreme but certainly weakened from not having a good meal for a long period of time, was not a wise choice but the female had learnt her lesson now and thus Cocidius did not feel the need to inform her of her bad judgement, he merely began to help her with the consequences of such actions.
Leaning forward he flashed her a quick look with his eyes when she thanked him for his help, but he said nothing, merely curled back his lips and buried his nose into her fur and sought out the first of many thorns and taking it between his front teeth he plucked it quickly from her tender skin. He leant to one side and rolled his tongue forward and pushed the thorn from his mouth and then took a long look at her coat, this was going to take some time but he simply buried his nose back into her coat and sought out another thorn to remove.
While diving into the females coat in search of thorns, which wasn’t hard at first but later on with them becoming more sparse he had to search harder for them; he didn’t want to leave any thorns behind due to the possibility of them becoming septic, it gave him the opportunity to really investigate the females form and marvel at it. She wasn’t simply smaller in size due to the lack of muscle on her body; her frame was smaller and curved in a pleasing manner unlike an male, she was built for speed rather than strength, though he did not doubt she was more than capable of bringing down and adult doe, several females tackling a bison would not be the small as the muscle force of several males in the same role however.
Satisfied that he had pulled out all of the thorns with her help he pulled away from her and again he was confronted with the same conundrum as before, to stay or go. He had helped her and now he should be on his way, what was the reason for him to stay and he feared making conservation with her in case she played any of that sort of tricky with words that his brothers spoke of. He smile ever so slightly at her, he dipped his head in a small bow and then rose proficiently. ‘You should rest a while before attempting another hunt.’ He stared at her in her exhausted state and something at the back of his mind told him the other wolf was still in need, she needed food/fuel but he snarled the argument down, how many things would he have to do before the moral side of his personality was satisfied? No, he had done his service now to escape.
