Description coming soon.
PostPosted: Tue Feb 09, 2010 2:47 pm

Feira had gone straight to her dorm to bathe and change into common clothes after her rather disruptive class with Professor Aldromar. She normally took a stroll in the Castle grounds after classes and wanted to get out there before she was taken captive for detention that was inevitably on it's way.

Crossing between two towers on the castle wall, Feira quickly ran down the stairs that would lead her out the back. Nearly to the doors of freedom, an ear piercing shriek from above made her freeze and look up only to fall back against the stair wall and drop her jaw. A dragon soared over head, wobbling as a man thrust a sword deep within it's neck.

Eyes widening, she ran as fast as she could for the forest where she saw it heading to land.

"Really?" She spun, walking backwards in her excitement at the news of Aldramor being put up for review. "Good! Hopefully they'll kick the old goat right off the wall." She turned to walk properly again, falling in beside him as they strolled down the corridors.

Her excitement fell along with her face as James went on to share what had happened, and what he was forced to do to his teacher. She wasn't quite sure how to respond to that...not sure what to say...Social skills and sympathy were not her forte. She'd never been shown any really. Luckily enough, however, they reached the library and she was able to put off speaking entirely for the time being.

"James! Where on earth have you been? I expected you back an hour ago!" The spindly and slightly dozy librarian snatched James by the arm, completely ignoring Feira at first, but then turning one eye on her and glaring. "You..." She looked back at James. "It's her? Truly?"

Feira's face went stony and she crossed her arms over her chest, leaning against a wall and looking off to one side. Here it comes... she thought. She'd never really had any interaction with the Librarian before...she was simply expecting some sort of qualm to be had about her race, or even herself personally. She wasn't well liked amongst the teachers in the school.

Feira waved a hand over her head sarcastically without looking back at James for further acknowledgment of his warning. She had to think. She had to be alone. She had to find a way out of this mess.

She made her way down the corridor, practically running in her hurry to get away from the situation, not caring that the situation was within her and impossible to escape. In her haste, she didn't see the Captain of one of the Deck-Ball teams, one of the older students from her own house, step right into her path. Feira collided with him and he grabbed her by the arms, laughing as his buddies circled them.

"Whoa there, half fang, why the hurry?" He winked down at her and Feira tried to shove him away, hissing. "Hah! Looky here, boys, looks like our little house sister is having some trouble with sibling rivalry..."

Feira's red eyes darkened and she drew her lips back ever so slightly as she hissed again, the sound coming from deeper in her chest. "Let me go, Garret...I'm warning you..." She muttered with a low growl. "I'm not in the mood..."

He lowered his head, his grip tightening on her snow white arms. "That sounds like a threat to me, little one," He gave her a tight jerk, his hands heating with a weak fire spell enough to lightly burn her arms where he held them, only enough to look like she bumped into a heater, but still... Feira's eyes narrowed but she showed no other signs of pain to her credit.

"Not a threat, brother, a promise." Her eyes flashed bright red and she flicked her fingers, calling her wand to her hand from the holster in her boot as she muttered three words under her breath. Six thin strands of electricity whipped out of the tip of her wand and struck each of her attackers in the nearest place it could find, causing Garrett to lose his hold on her and giving her enough of a gap to run back the way she had come.

James stepped out of the library and began walking towards his dormitory and common room, Carina was probably annoyed by now at his vanishing act. He held his bag over his shoulder and shoved one hand into a pocket, ignoring his sword sheath digging into his wrist.
He began to whistle when he heard running footsteps, coming towards him from ahead. The paladin frowned and stepped to the side of the corridor, hiding behind a pillar that seemed to be simply ornamental. Nobody running down the corridor would have seen him.

He watched silently as Feira ran past. James cleared his throat and waited for her to step in beside him. He could hear a score of extra footsteps following, and James wondered for a minute what it could be, who could be chasing her.
James took off his bag and handed it to Feira "Careful with that, it has a Dragon blaze rose in it I got from the forest today and I dont want it damaged." he said before he stepped out, silently, no inclination that he was dangerous, but he was. He knew it.

James stopped in the middle of the corridor and looked out the opposite window, one hand on his sword as the deck ball players from the Andras house came round the corner and skidded to a hold before him.
"War." One of them, the team captain, said, nodding begrudgingly. "What're you doing here."
"Hm?" James muttered, turning his head. "just heading back from the library. And yourselves?" he asked, a note of quiet ignorance in his voice.
"We were... enjoying the company of a house sister. None of your business really."
"Ah... and by enjoying the company of do you mean tormenting and being all around bullies?" James asked, turning to the Deck ball players. "Maybe you ought to scurry off back to your dorms. I would hate to have to challenge you for rights... and mop you all over the room like in last months deck-ball game. Was awfully embarrassing... having to play against someone of such low calibre."

Feira was bolting down the hall as fast as she could, those Deck-ballers were faster than they looked. She turned a corner, on the same hall as the library again and slid down to one hip as she cut the corner too quick. She used the wall as leverage and pushed herself forward, hoping to add to her speed.

Running passed a piller, Feira heard something on her left and spun, startled, to see James standing there. She hurried in and crouched down against the wall, resting her head on her knees as she tried to catch her breath. Her arms stung badly from the burns Garrett had inflicted, making her eyes water.

James rested his bag against the wall beside her, warning her to be careful of the flower inside and Feira simply nodded and laid her head back against the wall. Her eyes darted out in the direction of her pursuers and she looked up at James to see what he would do, wondering as he stepped out into the hall.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Well, if that doesn't say you know where she is, I don't know what does. This is none of your business!" The young men frowned and the Captain stepped forward pointing an angry finger at James' chest. "You can't challenge for rights when you don't even know what's going on! Keep your high and mighty nose out of this, flea bag! Now where'd she go?"
The comments had smarted, bruising his pride. The match had been horrendous and he was still trying to prove their team had been hexed. If Wardagen was buddying up with the banshee then it made a lot more sense. At least to Garret.
"Of course I know where she is, shes sat right there, looking after my bag." James said waving a hand in Feiras direction. "Not that it matters, you take a step towards either of us and I'll be shortening your already miniscule life span, vermin." James stepped towards the bullies and frowned. "I hate your kind, you're all the same. Bullies, Sick, racist, degenerate bullies. Your people flood the world, damaging it with your pollution and your disrespect... you're a plague, a virus on the universe... it would be better for the universe if this planet were destroyed before we reached out to the stars and contaminate them as well... but its not going to happen... all we can do is hope that its the few among you that are worth presenting to the universe that go forth."
James pulled his sword free from its sheath and looked at the blade. "It would be so easy to make the world a slightly better place right now you know... And very few people would care. I would simply say I challenged you to rights and your team helped you which is against rules and I had the right to kill you all."
James thought for a moment. "It would be so... so... easy."
"Stop being an idiot jay." Carina said, wandering down the corridor behind the deck-ball players. "We all know the only way that you are going to kill them is if they try and hurt someone around you." she smiled, walking up and past the players, a little dumb struck. She paused as she reached Feira's hiding place. "Oh... Maybe you will do it then."
"Shut up, Carina. She's injured do your thing." James said, not taking his eyes off of the bullies.
Carina rowned and moved towards the girl. "You did NOT just tell me to shut up. You're sleeping in you own dorm tonight." she said, eying the injuries.
"I sleep in my dorm every night, Rina. And I'm kind of busy here." James said, moving between the girls and the deck ballers.
"...Fine." Carina conceded, "But We're goign to have words."
Feira heard James speaking, impressed whether she liked it or not, by his shear passion behind his hatred he spoke of. She had been putting him up as a 'goody goody' in her mind. Then he changed her opinion once more to thinking he was an idiot. She slapped a hand over her eyes and prepared herself to run away, going over the spells in her mind that could help her as he told them exactly where she was.
The deck-ballers tensed as he drew his sword, all knowing just how accomplished he was with the weapon. Before anyone had the chance to make any stupid moves, however, they parted their little group of idiots to make way for a girl who smarted off to James about his tough talk only to be told to shuttup which apparently set her off a bit.
Feira was ready to bolt at any moment, not exactly sure what was going on as the couple traded words. To Feira's shock, came straight up to her and began inspecting her injuries...all the while trading words with James who placed himself protectively between the pair of them and the group of offenders.
The Captain eyed James up and down, then Carina and finally glared at Feira with such hatred that the girl actually shuddered despite keeping her face completely neutral. He looked back at James, taking a step forward, his shoulders squared.
"You can't protect her forever." He looked at Feira again. "See you in the dorms..." And with that, he waved a hand and skulked off with his team mates.
Feira watched them go, going even paler, if that were possible, at his threat. Barely noticing the girl working on her injuries, Feira stared at the floor, eyes a little wider than usual and swallowed hard.
"Thanks." she muttered, her voice breaking a little. "I could have gotten away. I usually do."
He's right... I can protect her tonight... I can train her but it'll take time... After tonight...
"Answer quickly:" James Said, watching as the deck ball players wandered off. "Do you want to go back to that dorm room? or do you want me to call them on this and challenge them to rights to your ownership?" James asked. "Quickly. I wont be your owner, it just means you'd change house, you wouldn't have to deal with them again, you'd be Kedava house."
Carina knelt before Feira, paying careful attention to her wounds as James spoke. She could feel the white magic pouring through her and knitting her flesh together.
"We're not so bad." Carina commented. "He can sometimes even drop the amateur dramatics."
James almost smiled, but the time was running out, The Deck Ball players were almost gone.
James moved closer to Feira and crouched down on one knee. "I can protect you from them tonight by giving you a night pass to our dorm but never again, not unless you join the house... and by school law I only have about sixteen seconds left that I can challenge with... After that I have to catch them trying to harm you, and it cannot be a set up... the schools magics are powerful and ever watching... Feira. What do you want me to do!"
Feira was distracted, her mind unable to rest on one thought as the girl healed her and James chased off her house brothers. She was dumbfounded. No one had ever bothered helping her before, never cared to heal her...yet here they were, two complete strangers...
James was suddenly kneeling before her, rattling off something about a challenge and Feira's mind began to race. Should she just change houses? Not like she had any ties to her own...and if she went back tonight or any night...well, it wouldn't do well for her. The girl healing her, Carina, made a comment about how they weren't so bad and Feira looked at her. They didn't seem so bad anyway...
...But then to challenge them for her...He snapped at her, trying to hurry her decision and Feira blinked. "Fine! Okay! Make the challenge!" She said nervously, feeling cornered.
James nodded "Done." He turned and strode two steps out of the small nook and turned to where Garret and his cronies were marching off.
"Garret." he shouted down the corridor. The boy turned, a look of confusion on his face. the paladin hated that. Such an idiot. "I've thought about it and we're going to do it."
"Do it? do what?"
"Don't get your heart rate up, vermin, i'm just challenging you to rights, not asking you on a date." James explained walking towards Garret.
James placed a hand on his sword. "Stipulations: I win Feira joins my house. You win I leave Kuldagens. Deal?"
"No." Garret said flatly. "I don't accept, She's going to come back to my house, and there's nothing you can do about it."
James sighed. "The request was only me being polite, you don't have a choice... also: me leaving the academy was politeness as well, I didn't have to do that. and I'm rescinding it... I lose nothing happens, you lose I get the girl."
Garret frowned, almost growling. "Just because I'm kind I wont even use my sword."
Feira was beyond confused. Not only was she being healed by a complete stranger, but she was being defended by another. She felt her heart racing, her skin felt clammy. Looking up at Carina and then back at James as he strode toward her House Brothers.
"Is he really going to do this?" She asked, her eyes widening nervously. "He doesn't even know me...not really...nobody has ever cared to stick up for me before." She recalled him fighting the dragon and was sure he'd be fine and hardly break a sweat in a fight against all six together, much less one on one with Garrett...but the idea of anybody fighting for her sent the girl's mind reeling.
"That's just who he is." Carina smiled, wiping her finger across the wound. "It's why I love h- It's why I'm with him. No matter who, no matter what he will stand up for anyone who needs it."
Carina placed her hand across the almost healed wound again and closed her eyes, pouring energy in again.
"He was my brothers best friend... when my brother died James took his place... sort of. I never saw him the same way I saw my brother... as you can probably tell."
Carina opened her eyes and smiled. "All better." she said. running a finger over the younger girls healed arm. "Now to check on James."
James' hand gripped garrets throat. If he weren't holding back he would have easily snapped the man's neck. "Yeild." James growled. "Yeild now!"
Garret tried to kick, but James' spare hand caugh the leg and slammed it back into the wall. "How does it feel to be weak and insignificant... how does it feel to be bullied by one man, one superior being, and a half breed at that?"
"I'll Kill you War, if it's the last thing I do, fleabag, I will kill you!" James punched the deckball player in the gut and smacked him across the face, knocking him unconscious. The Andras student fell to the floor and James stepped back. "Take him and leave. if I ever see you bullying this girl again I will make a death challenge, and you may have noticed that I didn't even use magic this time... Go."
James turned and walked towards the two girls waiting for him. He stopped at Feira's side. "Now just hold still a second." he said, placing a hand on her head. "Eckan Dor Hasmet." a light glowed over all the indicators of the girls house and they transformed. A Vyrkin now stood in the place of her dragon, and the colours had all changed. "Welcome to Kedava house."
