Caelius was nipping at a few grass shoots at the base of a tree where the snow had melted. Happy to see some green he moves from one tree to another. Looking round the base of the tree for grass sprouts, moving on to another when he doesn't find any.
Wandering along to some more trees, having found that he was usually hungry since being on his own. His stomach rumbling as he thinks about being hungry, looking at it. "Shhh I'm doing my best." His stomach making another complaining noise as he sighs, heading along to the next tree. Not really drawing any attention to himself beyond that he was rather brightly colourd.

Muriel was quite well and warm where she was, curled up in a thicket in the forest. But she was BORED! Snorting slightly, she stood up and started walking. Tired of snow, she wanted spring.
She wandered quietly, not really caring where she was going. This was the forest she grew up in. There wasn't much in the forest that she didn't know about.
Just as that thought popped in her head, she stopped short. "Huh?" She muttered under her breath. "Who is that?"
Ahead of her stood a antlered stallion. Not a stag... She knew many of the stags in the forest. She didn't know the stallion before her. She moved slighty closer so she could get a better look at him.
Head cocked to one side, she watched as he seemed to be searching for something at the base of the trees.
"Hello," she called out to him.

Cael looked up as someone called out, turning in almost a full circle before spying the mare that had spoken. Smiling a little awkwardly, not accustomd to other soquili yet, but so far the very few he had met had been nice and helpful with advice.
Walking over closer to the mare so they didn't have to shout. "Hello miss.." Not yet good with conversation he blurts out the first thing that pops into his head. "Are you looking for grass sprouts too? There seem to be plenty round the trees where the snow is gone."

Muriel smiled at the antlered stallion. "Are you hungry?" She looked at him, then looked at the grass sprouts coming up out of the ground. "I know where there is still grass in the forest. The snow didn't fall thick enough to kill all of the grass. I can take you there, if you want. Maybe we can even find an apple tree."
She turned around and started walking away, then stopped and looked at him over her shoulder and smiled. "I"m Muriel, by the way. Welcome to the forest."

Going a slightly darker pink in his face, though there wasn't much of a difference to tell he was blushing he nods. "Yes... actually I am." Really hoping she hadn't herd his stomach rumbling, that would be far too embarasing. Trailing along after her, liking the sound of fresh grass and apples, smiling as she joins her. "Nice to meet you, I'm Caelius." Giving her a grateful look, still looking a little embarassed.

Muriel smiled and started walking again, watching Caelius out of the corner of her eye. Handsome, he was. But she was not going to admit that out loud. She blushed slightly at the thought, and shook her head. "I was raised in this forest. I've seen many animals, but I've never seen another like you."
Afraid she had spoken out of turn, she looked at him to make sure she didn't offend him.
She was about to say something else to him, when she stepped on a patch of ice and slipped. Landing on her rump, she started laughing.
"Oh goodness, that was elegant!" Still laughing, she looked at Caelius and grinned.

Blinking and looking down, his mouth just having opend to reply, finding himself laughing instead. "Oh I'm sorry, excuse me, but yes very graceful, had it not been you would have come off worse than a sore rear end." Smiling and walks round behind her. "Excuse this but I'm going to push you to the edge of the ice so you dont fall again."
Blushing more, his face a deeper pink now. Kneeling down and bracing his hind legs, pushing against her rump with his shoulder so she slid to the edge of the ice patch. Getting up and smiling, walking over to join her. "My hooves are more suited to the ice I have noticed."

Muriel giggled when Caelius pushed her off the ice. "Yes, I can see that you're more suited to the ice than I!" Once her hooves were on solid ground again, she pulled herself back up to her feet. "Though, I must admit, that is probably the first time I have slipped like that in a while. I'm usually more careful of where I step." Blushing lightly, she shook her mane out and snorted lightly.
More careful of where she stepped, she continued walking. "There it is!" She grinned and broke out into a trot. Twitching her little bob of a tail, she looked up at the lone apple tree growing amungst the pines in the forest. "The apple tree I was telling you about." She frowned slightly for a moment. "However, I have knocked down all the apples I can reach. I'll have to figure out a way to get more down."
She stood there, ears and bob tail twitching, as she tried to think of a way to get more apples down so they could eat.

Finding himself smiling as she thinks, walking up to the tree, looking over at her. "You might want to step away so they don't hit you." Watching and waiting till she was definately out the way of having apples hit her. Rearing up on his hind legs, knees resting against the tree trun, about level with where his head had been. His back legs pushing, shaking the tree in little bursts, knocking the over ripe apples off, some still hanging on but plenty for 2 and spare falling down. Dropping to all fours and standing next to the tree. "There we go, apples!"

Muriel watches with wonder as Caelius shakes the tree and makes the apples land on the ground before her. She laughs happily. "How wonderful! I hadn't thought of that." She snorts and grins. "Not that it would have made a difference had I tried. I'm not strong enough to do that sort of thing."
She walks over and nibbles on an apple. Looking back at him, she smiled. "So, aside from looking for food, what brings you to the forest?

Cael just smiles and starts nibbleing on a few apples, not seeing shaking them down as any major feat, but she was probably right. He was bigger and heavyer so he could push harder. Though it seemd the most obvious of ways to knock apples down.
His expression becoming a little sad at her question. Looking over at her. "I had no where else to go." That the simplest explanation, afterall the place that had been home was not anymore.

Muriel cocked her head to one side, her ears perked as she listened to Cael. "You have no where else to go?" She frowned at that. She'd always had the forest. She brightens and smiles shyly at him.
Nudging one of the apples his way with her nose, she looked up at him. Shyly, a little nervous, she said quietly, "Well, this is a big forest. You can always live in the forest, too. It's big enough for the both of us. If you want, that is."
Her stomach now full, she laid down in the shade of the apple tree and watched for Cael's reaction to her offer.

Cael was munching on the apples, trying not to make a pig of himself. Finishing off the apple she had rolld over to him and then walking over to lay in the sun not far away, enjoying the early spring rays. Looking over at the mare with a grateful smile.
"Well yes the forest is big, though I'm not used to it really, all of this is new to me. I'd like to find a place that is home again, I know I will eventually." Not sure where he will end up, but missing the stability he had grown up with now.

Muriel lay there for a minute, thinking. She looked at Cael and smiled. "I don't remember much of my life before I lived in the forest. I was adopted, and raised here in the forest." She looked at a grass shoot growing near her muzzle, and blew gently on it. "I don't have many friends outside the forest. I dont' know that many mares or stallions, outside of my family."
She looked at him and smiled. "But I do know places in the forest not many know about. Waterfalls, rainbows, and pools so deep you can't touch the bottom. Hidden meadows where the grass grows so tall and thick you can't see where the trees begin again."
She stood up and stretched, then walked right next to him and smiled down at Cael. "Even if you choose not to live in the forest, would you like to see it? I can show you my favorite spots, if you want."
Afraid he would turn her down, she held her breath while she waited for his reaction.

Standing and giving her a friendly smile he nods. "I would love to see it, it sounds lovely." Having seen some pretty places already in his wandering but there was no harm in going on a little tour with her, besides he had the feeling like she was expecting him to leave her as soon as he had eaten. Though he had no idea what might have caused her to think that way.
Standing ready beside her, waiting for her to lead the way. "I was found and raised by a two legger, I've never met any wild soquili till now, all the ones I've met were traind by the two leggers for working."
