Since there are some epic noobs on here like myself, can anyone be kind enough in explaining how each and every battleground works? I'd look up a guide, but it's nicer to hear it from people who actually take part in them often. Because honestly, I'm one of those people who end up standing around or following a random crowd, killing whoever is on the opposite side and not really knowing what else is going on. And no one wants someone like me in there.
So -- Alterac Valley, Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, Eye of the Storm, Strand of the Ancients, Isle of Conquest, Wintergrasp.
Pupose, goals, strategies, how-to, ANYTHING. Noobs need the help to not be noobs anymore. GO!

Alterac Valley - Capture graveyards, destroy towers, kill the lieutenants and generals to win. The more towers that you control, the stronger your faction boss is. Not really worth doing. I follow people who seem to be stopping to destroy towers and bunkers and healbot them.
Warsong Gulch - Capture the flag. Easiest to be a healer in, run along outer edge with flag and dance around till other flag carrier is dead. Being a disc priest is most fun here.
Arathi Basin - Capture and hold the bases. I've seen lots of effective ways of winning, but the easiest is if your whole team bumrushes each one and destroys them. Need good players to hold them all, sometimes you get lucky. Doing this alone is pretty much playing roulette; you don't know what you get till you get it.
Eye of the Storm - capture the flag crossed with AB. Just get a base and get the flag, or help someone else get it. You get points for holding bases and for capturing the flag.
Strand of the Ancients - omg blow crap up. Easiest to just destroy the opponents vehicles, gotta have smart people guarding both sides. I pick a DPS who isn't retarded, or bring one with me, and healbot them.
Isle of Conquest - See AV. Minus lieutenants (faction general only), less places to capture. Works the same.
Wintergrasp - Wouldn't know, my faction consistently loses WG on a regular basis. 249 Alliance defenses, 49 Horde defenses. :/

The Voodoo Shuffle Alterac Valley - Zerg rush the two minor leaders, Then zerg the final boss, GG you have just done AV. Warsong Gulch - Capture the flag. Camp mid for the whole game, GG welcome too Warsong Gulch . Arathi Basin - Capture and hold the bases. Zerg every node with all 15 players, Do not defend. Rage about every player not defending and keep zerging. Welcome to Arathi Basin. Eye of the Storm - capture the flag crossed with AB. Zerg the flag in the middle, Who needs bases WE HAVE A FLAG. Strand of the Ancients - omg blow crap up. <---- thats the whole fight. Isle of Conquest - Zerg the main strong hold be sure too ignore the enemy running past you.. Wintergrasp - Zerg all sides of the Fortress, Do not work together and scream abuse when you lose. Fixed it for you. :3

WG is a basic defense/attack thing. the attacking faction tries assault the fort and destroy no less than two fort walls and a big ole door with siege vehicles they acquire from killing opponents kill a certain amount unlocks catapults[three i think] that are fast but do VERY little damage and the next amount[5 i think] unlocks the two other vehicles, a demo wagon that can house two people on the side to attack[rangers best friend] without fear of death and the other is a big ole nasty thing that can ferry people in the trunk and houses a cannon seat on top. the perfect invasion vehicle. the last two are rather slow in comparison to the cat, but people HATE it when you're using a catapult and will b***h at you constantly and call you a newb-f** alot. it's a lot like the Strand of the Ancients.
when on defense, you are supposed to keep the attackers from doing what i just stated above. you also need to assault the three towers at the south of the map. these will both lower the attack buff the attacking players are given for the duration of the fight. it also makes it end a lot faster.
but the REAL draw of WG is the honor points, and to an extent the quests. kill 10 horde(the npc guards around the bridges and such count), win, destroy siege vehicles and the likes. they each net you some good honor points, stone keeper shards, and gold. also, just running around and killing people will net you some wonderful honor points. your a** will be stacked in pvp gear in notime flat. and, if you're a dps class, a full set of the latest honor-buyable pvp gear is a good entry-level heroic set. its what i do for all my toons and it works wonderfully and WG is the best way to do that.

Ouch, lol. Now that was an amusing reformat. XD Here is my take on the bg's. I do take part in them quite a bit.
Warsong Gulch - Basic capture the flag. It usually works well when you get a large group where half of them go for flag while the other half go defensive. However most of the time it dont work like that, lol. And dont try to take flag if you know you have nothing to either heal with or defend with. And be careful if you stay on D at the start...they zerg.
Arathi Basin - capture the flags and hold them off, though going D is a bit strange. If people are smart they'll group up and hold the flags when they get three, though there are achievements that you can get for holding them all.
Alterac Valley - As said above capture bunkers, bases and graveyards on the way up...or down in the case of the alliance. If you dont get them the boss in their base is going to be quite strong...too strong to take.
Strand of the ancients - if on defense try and guard both gates as they work their way up. Destroy tanks first then people who get too close. Or in some dps case go for the healer that is nearby...sorry to all healers, I just know what your capable of if not killed.
Eye of the Storm - Capture bases gives you points however if you also capture the flag and go to your own base with it, it gives you a nice amount of points.
Isle of Conquest - capture bases like AB, difference here is the quarry and oil refinery give your seige weapons a major boost. And the other bases give you something unique to fight with. Docks give catapults and ballista, the catapults launch you where you point and can cloak, while the ballista fire shrapnel projectiles which can be used on people but have a long range and can be used to take down the gates. The hanger gives an airship which you can use to bombard their base or jump down and gain a parachute to attack inside their base, then last is the seige shop which gives you either destroyers which are good for mobile dps, and a siege engine which is a monster if used right. Kill their boss to win.
Wintergrasp - If on offensive you need to capture some siege shops, then go to take out their turrents. When able make as many siege weapons as you can and attack a certain area with others. Get inside to the main area and bust the gate down to win. If you can make siege engines dont make catapults...waste of space to make them and I have seen that happen way too much. Now if on defense then you attack them as they come and or also take out the southern towers to reinforce the base.

I actually was honor capped from one WG... Was weird, I had both bonus honor buffs the whole time... Shame you only get 75K honor D:
