Ceros looked upon the land with his glowing blue eyes. He was entranced by its beauty, size and sounds. Night had fallen by the time he had arrived here, and now he was slowly roaming the forests looking around with a child like curiosity. His mind buzzing with everything he was encountering. Everything was so new, so different from the surroundings he knew. Who would have guessed such a different world existed from his own? had this strange land always existed on the other side of the desert? He looked up at the moon in wonder.
The moon gently floating in his own cloud mane matched the phase of the one in the sky. Ceros smiled. If the moon existed here, then he was surely not in a dream.

The night was cool. The wind had died down long ago, but the fresh air held the scent of coming rain--a promise that never failed. Liella looked forward to the rain, for in its serene melody, she found much beauty. It had a soft voice, just like all the other parts of nature, and it displayed it with such a liveliness that Liella found it mightily comparable to her own mother's songs of long ago. How she had loved that voice...
She felt a little less lively tonight, for a reason she could not fathom. Perhaps it was the loneliness, the lack of other voices that she had been experiencing. The cool winter months meant less visitors, especially this deep in the forest. She was alone, for the time being.
Then her ears caught a light sound, seemingly close. They swiveled to better hear the light thump, and her whole body turned towards the noise, curious. Nighttime was a time of caution, but it was also a time of wonder--what creature would be out exploring this late if not an extraordinary one?
She moved forward slowly, feeling the soft leaves of undergrowth brush against her sides. The sensation was comforting, like her loved ones were reaching out to her, saying, 'Come, we lead you... we protect you...' She smiled, letting her eyes adjust to the moonlit path, and then stopped as the creature came into view. It was a stallion, but unlike any she had ever seen before. He was beautiful! And his mane... it was almost insubstantial. He seemed almost as if he was from another world entirely...
And she was so entranced that she hadn't noticed that her feet had taken her outside the concealing branches, into the open, clear to sight.

Hearing another noise, his large ears motioned towards the source, his glowing eyes soon followed. As his head turned, his mane slowly moved and bobbed, making the stars and moon gently bounce in their seat. Once his eyes found the source, Ceros couldn't help but gasp, seeing what was approaching him.
It looked just like someone from his herd, the build was the exact same, even her colors were similar. But she was not a unicorn, she did not have the proud tail of a lion nor the majestic horn. Her mane was made out of hair, as was her tail. But even though she was so different, so foreign to him, he was completely entranced by her. Just like the land he had found himself in, she was completely alien, but something deep down inside felt right, and similar. He couldn't help but bounce up a little in excitement. His smile stretched across his entire face, making his eyes sparkle on their own.
"Hello there, young mare. How are you? My name is Monoceros, Ceros for short. What are you called?" His eyes scanned every inch of her, she was a new world to him, one he desperately wanted to learn about. He almost count not beleive this was not all a dream.

Liella shook her head slightly, trying to clear it. She gazed at the beautiful stallion yet again, her eyes widening slightly as she noticed his mane. Well, what was in place of the mane... was that... clouds? His mane looked as if it was made of a cloud-like material! And the moon that was in it... it was glowing! How strange, and yet spectacular at the same time. How magical!
"I... I am Liella," she murmured, gaining confidence as she learned the other's name. Ceros... even his name seemed magical.
"Forgive me for asking, sir... but where are you from? I have not seen a being such as yourself around this place before," she inquired, walking closer to get a better look at his coat. The pattern was beautiful within itself, and reminded her of the night sky. If fact, everything about this stallion reminded her of the stars, and the moon, everything lunar.

Ceros smiled kindly, "Liella, a sweet and pretty name."
"I am from the desert far to the North East of these lands. I am...or...well, was....part of a large herd of nomads that traveled the desert. We are all unicorns and have manes of cloud." He chuckled. "But to me, you are the very different one. These lands are so strange and alien to me. Would you mind possibly showing me around?" Ceros caught himself. "Though if im being hasty and you were heading somewhere specific, im sorry to interfere!"
He raised his head and smiled apologetically with a flick of his lion tail.
He looked at her mane and tail, they were made of long, slick dark hair. It was so odd to see the usual clouds replaced by the hair that was also found on her pelt.
"My people are called the Followers of the Star. And we take pride in being the keepers of the constellations. Did you know, there is a small little assembly of stars in the night sky known as Liella? It is a petite flower. Though not many know of it, as it hides behind the large belt of Orion." He chuckled and smiled happily.

Liella nodded in recognition, almost in embarassment, as she murmured, "Yes, you're right--I suppose I am the strange one in your eyes." Her mind flashed to a desert scene, with wind-brushed dunes and a never-ending sky. Under that sky walked a whole herd of these cloud-maned creatures, as stunning and mysterious as the moon itself; If only she could see such a sight!
Her heart jumped at his request. "Yes, yes of course! I'd love to show you around, though I'm only familiar with places withing the forest. I do not often travel outside the trees--open spaces are not for me. But I have no place to go in the meantime. I'm simply traveling the same neverending path that I travel every night!" She grinned warmly, excited that this beautiful creature would request such a thing from her. It would be a perfect opportunity to hear more stories, perhaps of the desert!
Then she couldn't believe the next thing he said. "Really?! A constellation named Liella? That is fantastic! I would so love to see it... perhaps... you could show it to me? You seem to know so much about the stars." Her head tilted to the side in thought, and then her eyes lit up as an idea hit her.
"I know! In exchange for educating you about the earth, of which I know many things, you can teach me about the stars! My parents never taught me about the constellations."

"Surrounded by trees all day and night?" He wondered over the fantastic idea. Staying in the warm hold of leaves and growth. Surrounded by greenery and flowers galore. Seeing the beautiful animals and creatures that he had caught glimpses of already. And seeing those that have hid from him till now. A smile rose to his eyes, making them glow even more. What a life she must live! So different, so mysterious, so thrilling. He couldn't wait to ask her all about it.
"There is indeed such a constellation. I will try hard to find it for you." Though he was so far from home, the skies were not different, and he was sure that if he tried hard enough, he would be able to find the star arrangement.
He nodded excitedly, nearly giddy that he had found such a person to teach him so much about these new lands!
