Here's hopin' it don't stink!

I'll admit: I kind of liked Batman Begins. I thought it was one of the better comic book movies to come out this year. As you might have guess, I'm really hoping Superman will be good because despite the fact that he is Superman and can therefore do damn near everything under the sun, I do like the character in all his ridiculousness. Got my fingers crossed.

Ha ha, you really don't have to sheepishly admit that you "kind of liked" Batman Begins, since it's generally considered to be the best Batman movie ever made. Though I suppose after saying this, someone in the guild will point out that he or she thinks it's a total overrated s**t-pile . . .

Also, I'm pretty sure Superman hasn't been able to do everything under the sun for years now, since they've powered him down a couple times.

Superman has been de-powered significantly, post-Crisis. No, he can't fly around the world so fast he can go back in time. No, he can't move the world from its orbit. No, he can't fly through space without an airsupply either. Think Justice League cartoon Superman, and you get current comicbook Superman.

That said, the Superman Begins teaser brings shivers down my spine... although that might only be due to John Williams' Planet Krypton in the background. Yes, yours truly is pretty excited.

So glad I'm not alone on this one. Also glad to hear that Superman's powers were actually toned down in the comics and stuff.

A friend of mine actually isn't too enthusiastic because he's afraid they're going to make Superman xtreme. Says the fact the colours on his tights are darker than they should be is a sure sign (????).

Either way, I wonder who they're going to bring in. Looks like Luthor's on the lineup. Personally, whether it's for this movie or the next one, I hope they bring in Darkseid or Brainiac. Superman needs some gen-u-ine crazyass villains to go up against.

Spiderman's spandex was also darkened for the movies, yet Sam Raimi certainly didn't make a Spiderman Xtreme. The bright costumes are darkened simply because they don't look so good on film... or so common knowledge has it. Either way I trust in Brian Singer's good judgement.

Darkseid in a Superman movie? MmmMMMM... then again you can't have Darkseid without the New Gods and the other Jack Kirby characters (Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, et al), or at least that's what I say.

Now, what if someone gets to do a DOOM PATROL movie eh? EH?
PostPosted: Thu Dec 22, 2005 3:22 pm

Doom Patrol would be fun, but the question on everyone's mind is "when will there be a Watchmen movie"? I say ******** that, make it an animated 12-episode miniseries, true to the comic like Sin City. That way they can get away with, say, Doctor Manhattan's p***s and the pirate story subplot.

Back to Superman, yeah I guess they'd have to throw in the rest of Darkseid's brood and the Gods in order to get away with it. But yeah, imagine Brainiac or even Bizarro Superman on the big screen. ******** s**t! And I imagine Doomsday will be involved in later movies.

Speaking of which, this guy owns you all. His Batman/Flash/Green Lantern villains are killer tight too. Wonder Woman's next!

A Watchmen movie? What for, so that some movie studio will neuter the hell out of it like they've done with V for Vendetta? (Koji, read that now). An animated mini-series would be totally boss, but then again it's Watchmen we're talking about, and the studios see animation as kid's stuff (and superhero cartoons as Teen Titans). But that could be easily done with Doom Patrol. Glen Murakami and Bruce Timm, get on it, pronto. And maybe get that nice Paul Dini fellow as well, ey?

Damn, I forgot all about BIZARRO!. HE AM NOT WORST HERO EVER! BIZARRO NOT TOTALLY PUNCH AND OWN SUPERMAN!

Hell, Doom Patrol was already IN Teen Titans. But you probably knew that already.

Indeed Yuji... not that I've seen that episode yet. Then again I've only started following Teen Titans, like, a couple of weeks ago. In GERMAN.

Yeah, they were in the first couple of episodes of season five (which I guess is now officially the last season), so it might be awhile before you get to it in GERMAN! The Brotherhood of Evil or whatever also plays the "heavy" role for the current season as well.

Wow, I'm ahead of the curve for once.

I got to see about three minutes of footage from Superman Returns at the San Diego Comic-Con back in July.

Kevin Spacey is Lex Luthor, and he's the only villain.

The premise is that Superman left earth five years ago to search for Krypton, found the hunk of space debris and nothing else, then came back really depressed to find that the world has gotten along fine without him since, making him even more depressed.

Lois has also apparently mothered a child with Cyclops (James Mardsen plays the role).

Lex is fresh out of jail around the time Supes goes back into action, so he's ready and rarin to go.

Bryan Singer left X3 to film Superman, because the people at FOX are freaking idiots. Bret Ratner is now directing the Hugh Jackman/Halle Berry love fest.

I personally think the teaser is absolute crap, but I have the comic-con footage to compare it to, which I feel was much better.

As far as Watchmen is concerned, it's been bounced around like three stuidos over the past few years, a new one recently picked up the rights to do it, although lord knows if anything will come of it.

On the subject of Superman Returns, in a way...

Makes great reading (and more proof, if needed, that Tim Burton is a ******** overrated hack).

Sounds more like Tim Burton needs to stop recreating characters that are not his own and are not in need of being recreated therefore. I mean, I LOVED his Batman movies but this sounds ridiculous.

*shrug* I dunno. When it comes to Burton his works are kind of 50-50 in terms of likability. I'm a big fan of his works (Big Fish made me cry as you know), and even his s**t movies like Planet of the Apes bring a smirk to my face but I gotta say there are times when I wonder about him.

I saw the film last night. Too good for words!

Spoilers in the white text.

Superboy! HOLY s**t! And Superman himself throwing an ENTIRE ISLAND MADE OF KRYPTONITE into space, then dying and coming back to life? Too awesome. Too, too awesome.

Okay no more spoilers.

Hollywood? This is what a superhero movie should look like. Get Bryan Singer to direct ALL your movies from now on. Not just comic book movies. ALL OF THEM. NOW.
