Kanyaratna walked away from her parents, her paws sure in there steps. Even though she was an adult her parents still treated her like a cub and sometimes even Kanya's sunny personalty could no longer take it. She could understand why they treated her that way but to her her blindness was not a problem, she got around just fine on her own. Her ears, nose, and paws acted as her eyes and they did a equal or better job then if her useless eyes would have worked.
She wasn't angry just disappointed that her parents could not see that she was an adult so she walked away to think of a way to tell her mother and father that she loved them but they had to let go.
Kanya walked until she felt the warmth on her back from the sun change to coolness from the shade of a tree. The sent from the tree told Kanya that it was the tree that she went to, the tree that was just out side of the borders of Kiingereza'nchi. She had never ventured any farther then this tree but it was a place she went to often because it allowed her to be alone.
She sat beneath the tree with her back against the trunk. As she said there her mind started to wander and as it wandered she started to hum. Even just humming her voice was sweet and rich. Singing was her passion and she did it as often as she could.
Her humming got louder and began to become interspersed with words until she was singing a song she had learned from a old bird that had travel across the oceans. And even though she did not fully understand some of the words she still loved it.
Take the wave now and know that you're free Turn your back the land, face the sea Face the wind now, so wild and so strong When you think of me, wave to me and send me song
Don't look back when you reach the new shore Don't forget what you're leaving me for Don't forget when you're missing me so Love must never hold, never hold tight, but let go
Oh, the nights will be long when I'm not in your arms But I'll be in this song that you sing to me Across the sea, somehow, someday You will be far away, so far from me And maybe someday I will follow you in all you do 'Til then, send me a song
When the sun sets the water on fire When the wind swells the sails of your hire Let the call of the bird on the wind Calm your sadness and lonliness And then start to sing to me I will sing to you If you promise to send me a song
I walk by the shore and I hear Hear your song come so faint and so clear And I catch it, a breath on the wind And I smile and I sing you a song I will send you a song I will sing you a song I will sing to you If you promise to send me a song (( Send me a song - Celtic Women))

Everything was going according to plan. Already Eztil could feel members of the pride liking and trusting him more than their actual leader... such an easy mark really. Almost too easy, but these creatures had obviously never had to deal with this before. Nothing like him, who had conned thousands into doing things that they didn't want to do. And none of them would ever know they didn't want to do it, if he was lucky. And if he weren't so lucky, he would take whatever he got out of the place and go. But really, all this naivety made it too easy. What fun was it with no challenge?
And then he heard someone... someone singing? Well. How long had it been since he had heard someone sing? A while, to say the least, and even longer since he had heard someone who was actually good. And this was by far and away good singing. So he slowly approached the sound, and saw it was a leopardess. How cute.
"You have a lovely voice, my dear." He purred, approaching her softly, barely making a sound, "I've traveled the whole world and never heard anything that sounded as beautiful as what I just heard right now."
Only half a lie, really. Eztil only flattered anyone when he wanted something for them, and he couldn't help but think how very relaxing it would be to have such a nice voice sooth him after a hard day of lying... Not that it was really hard to lie.
In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he had spoken a word of truth.

Kanya had just finished her song when someone spoke to her. She jumped a little since she did not hear anyone approach when she should have, maybe she was just so into the song that she blocked out everything. She turned her ears to pinpoint where the voice was coming from. Judging from the voice it was male and it was coming towards her.
She smiled lightly and replied, "Thank you but I'm sure there are others that are better then me." Kanya was not fishing for complements but believed it to be truth which was why she loved hearing others sing and learning new songs. Sound in general was one of the things that she loved listening to the most since it allowed her to imagine the world; a stream sounds different if it is full of water, the grasses sound different depending on if they were green or not. For her the world was made up of sounds and smells and touches, even the occasional taste.
Kanya sat still, her tail wrapped around her legs, waiting to hear what her 'audience' would say or do. It was a male, that she was sure of, but she wasn't certain how big he was. Given a moment and some concentration she could here him moving very softly but as he came closer she could feel the vibrations from his paw steps and determined that he was at least an adult or a very large adolescent.

Eztil smiled a little. The girl seemed to honestly believe she wasn't good. A polite type... but from the way she moved, he was beginning to think that she hadn't seen him. Or perhaps even couldn't see him. She hadn't looked directly at him, that was for certain, which was bizare. Who would have thought someone would send a little blind leopardess out all on her own...? Someone very foolish. A little bird just waiting to be scooped up by someone who would watch her a little more carefully. After all, a pretty artist was always worth something. And why not indulge himself a little while he was taking over the quaint little pride? Make himself more... comfortable?
"Forgive me for saying so, my fair lady," He whispered, voice simply dripping with sympathy and admiration as he stepped forward, making sure to flatter her. She was good, of course, but one would earn a word of kidness from Eztil unless he was using it to get his way. And right now, he was thinking about keeping her for a pet... something nice and relaxing when he got home. Yes, that would do nicely. And especially a blind girl, that would make her all the easier to keep. Especially one so naive as she was. And if he had a sweet little bird speaking on his behalf when thinks went sour, well, that would be all the more useful.
"Forgive me saying so but you have the lovliest voice I have ever heard in all my travels around this world. Not only that... but you are also the most beautiful I have seen in some time." He gasped a little, stepping back, "I'm too forward... forgive me. But I found your voice so captivating I lost myself for a moment."

Kanya didn't know what was going through the males mind but if she did she would likely be running for the hills. The poor leopardess had indeed been sheltered most of her life, by her siblings as well as her parents. But even with the constant watching the young Kanya escaped to learn the ways of the world on her own. It was during these times when she met and befriended the birds around her, they taught her to sing which she truly loved to do. She learned to navigate the lands around her home during these times but she always returned home. They were her family and no matter how they wore on her happy nerves they could not be forgotten.
When the male called her 'my fair lady' and 'beautiful' Kanya couldn't help but blush, which her fur covered, and look down and away. Only her family called her pretty but they were family and they would call anyone pretty as long as they were family. "Oh, um," She stumbled uncertain as to what to say. She didn't want to seem to correct him again after all she knew that everyone saw the world in a different light, maybe he really did think her singing was beautiful, the birds said she had a passing voice for a four legger. Not knowing what else to say she fell back on politeness, "Thank you and I don't think your too forward after all we are all entitled to our own opinions." She smiled and 'looked' up at the sky where a bird was flying by.

Eztil was glad the female didn't know what was going through his mind. It was extremely rare for other creatures to pick up on what he was thinking as it was, though he did come across the occasional mind reader. Luckily, this leopardess was -as far as Eztil was concerned- dumb as a post. She wasn't about to pick up on what he was starting to plan for her, and he was perfectly happy with that. It would only make things easier in the long run for him. And really, while he appreciated a challenge, a hostile takeover of the pride was really quite challenging enough. He could certainly live with something a little... easier.
"If you wouldn't mind me asking my dear, what's your name?" He asked, leaning forward so that he could get a better look at her. She was pretty enough. But the voice, yes, it was the voice that really stood out for him. She would do nicely for a pet, and if he was kind to her, a naive soul would earn him some major points from the rest of the group if she would speak for him. That would do nicely. Plus, it had been a good long while since he had someone around he could take... some sort of comfort in. If she were as naive as he believed she was, then well, that would only make things more fun, "I'm new to this area, so I'm trying to meet new friends and creatures here... and I'd be honoured if you would do my the courtesy of showing me around."

Kanya was by no means stupid but she was quite naive about the darker side of the world. Since she had never really strayed to far from her family she never encountered anyone who was anything but polite to her and while she learned much from them, quite a bit that she worked into songs, evil was not one of them. Lies she had heard but they were mostly little things like always being able to take down prey but she being who she was Kanya never mentioned the improbability of such things and quite often took it at face value.
"My name? Kanya, Kanyaratna. And yours good sir?" She thought she was quite amusing imitating the males turn of phrase so she laughed softly but clearly. But when the male asked for her to show him around her good mood faded just a touch. Still smiling, although now her smile was a bit sad, Kanya said, "I can show you what I can but what I 'see' and what you see will be quite different for you see I am unable to view the natural world except in my imagination."
She used a paw to point to a distant tree and said, "Approximately one hundred and fifty steps that way lies a tree that houses a small family of birds." Pointing in another direction she continued, "And that way, after about a quarter of a hour, there will be a thorny bush that protects a small den of rabbits. But other then that it is as you see, grass and dirt with a few trees." She knew the area around her family like her songs but she rarely went any farther since there was always the chance of her getting lost.

"My name, fair lady, is Eztil." He smiled at her, grinning like a wild man. So, he had been right. She was a blind girl. Fantastic, really. It was just what he had wanted. "To know that you are blind is truly... a sad thing to hear. I would love you to see how truly beautiful you are my lady. I really do." Well, if she could see herself, maybe she would be a little less easy to fool. Those with weaknesses visible to the world were always so much easier to pick off than the others. Not that it really mattered.
"Have you ever been able to see, or been in the dark your whole life?" He asked, waving his paw in front of her face. Maybe he should remember this ploy. If he could learn to pretend to be blind, then maybe it would be a lot easier to trick women in the future with his charms... A good idea to keep in his bag. It would certainly be a challenge, no matter how it turned out.
This, however, was all too easy.
"Perhaps I will try to describe to you this world... if only you could see what I do when I look at you. It is not only your voice that is angelic, but your face as well." Pretty enough really. Normally he liked a good strong lioness... but he was a traveling man. He would take what he could get.

Kanya just smiled shyly and looked away when Eztil complemented her yet again, she didn't really know what to do about the attention he was showing her. Yes she had met others but normally it was fairly brief and those that she had met normally just talked about other things, never had they asked about her sight or commented on her looks except in passing.
Distracted by his other questions she looked back in his direction, "I've always been in the dark but it is a conferable darkness. I don't fear the dark." She smiled at her small joke. "You see I can see the world around me by what I hear, smell, and feel. For instance when you wave something in front of my face I can feel and hear the passing of the air that is created." Kanya didn't know exactly what Eztil waved in front of her face but judgeship by the smell it was his paw or tail. She smiled again to take any sting from her words, she didn't say it to be harsh or reproving but just to explain her world of darkness.
When he offered to describe the world for her she just said, "That would be nice." since she wasn't sure what else to add since he started to complement her again.

Eztil smiled, but it was far more sadistic than it was anything else. Here, he had her, right where he wanted her. All that coy little naive blushing and such cute little shy movements. The perfect target for a scheme, and just what he had been looking for. Someone he could trick into being his pet. Right where he wanted her. And she was so sweet, it wouldn't be a problem to keep her drawn in with a few sob stories. Maybe he'd throw in the story of his sister, put some genuine emotion into it. That was certain to keep her in her place.
"Come, as you show me where things are, I'll try and describe them for you. If only you could see color, then I'd tell you all about how lovely yours is. But I'll do my best so that you know how beautiful the world around you is. Just as lovely as you..." He promised, reaching out and touching her shoulder.
"Come! I would love for you to show me around. One can only be too careful, as you know. It is usually best to learn from someone who knows where everything is. It seems that you know better than most." He said with a grin, his voice as light and pleasent as possible.
In the end, it was all too easy.

Kanya did her best not to react to his complements again but she couldn't help but stammer a bit when she answered Eztil, "I guess, um, that would be fine." She did not know how to handle the many complements the male was giving her so she did her best to ignore them but even that only helped a little bit. Her father and brothers were the only males to ever gave her complements and Eztil fell in neither of those categories. She was so flustered that when Eztil touched her shoulder Kanya jumped a bit. She did her best to hid it but it really worried her that she didn't sense the male moving.
Trying to disguise her jump Kanya got to her feet. "Well, um, if you are ready then lets go." She started to walk without waiting to see if Eztil would follow. A small part of her hoped the male would not follow since it disliked the way he made her feel, but the larger part hoped that Eztil would follow.
((If you want to post you can but other wise I would mark this as done. He has seriously confused Kanya ^^ ))
