 The day was bitterly cold. Normally Allan would have preferred to be inside the warm teepee, but it was just too much. He was sick of sitting there listening to his herdmates gushing on and one about their perfect love lives. Ugh! It was just so frustrating. He gave a snort and tossed his head, trying to figure out where exactly to head. He honestly didn't care, so today he galloped south, following the nearby river. Before he left, he had told his familiar to stay and help watch after the new basket that was in their home.
He chuckled as he thought about it. The little bugger was fast. It liked to disappear when they were all distracted. That resulted in quite the merry chase, but it was always his familiar that found the little one. That made him smile with pride. He was helping to protect a precious young life.
Lost in his own musings he almost missed seeing the winged mare entirely.

 Lavanya was deep in thought as she mused over the latest rumors she had heard about her sister. Apparently she had managed to get the skinwalker to give her children...all without killing her. Her mind was in a rage at this rumor. The mare knew that she would have to go home soon to make sure the family was all right. Neva was up to no good with these children of hers.
A sigh of irritation escaped her mouth as she thought about the extra work that would be involved in hunting down the foals of the demon breeding should the rumor be true. It would put her traveling even more than she was now to try and keep her family safe. She wouldn't have time for idle chatter, friends(if she even had any), or much sleep. Her family must be protected no matter what. Especially if the rumor was true. So because of her thoughts, she failed to notice the other nearby.

Allan looked up startled. He had been so lost in thought that he hadn't noticed that he wasn't alone until he heard the sigh. Glancing around, he noticed the lovely winged mare just standing there, looking upset.
Maybe he shouldn't bother her? Nah, he'd be friendly and at least say hello. He cleared his throat to announce his presence and decide to wait for her reaction before saying anything. You never knew if you'd have to run or not, better to err on the side of caution.

The sound startled her out of her thoughts and she glanced up noticing now the stallion. Great. What did he want? She didn't have time for chatter or anything of the sort. "What is it?" her voice sounded a bit harsh, more though from the rumor than being interrupted.
"And please do hurry up. I've got things to do." Lavanya waited impatiently for him to say what it was he wanted and be on his way.

Allan gave the mare a sheepish smile. "Ah sorry... Maybe I should just leave you be and go on my way. I just thought you might like someone to talk to since you looked rather upset."
Great start this was, he hadn't done or said anything and already she was biting his head off. Maybe he was making a mistake trying to be nice to her. He snorted and gave a sigh. Might as well stick with it now that he had started.
"My name's Allan and I apologize for disturbing you. If I may ask, what seems to be the trouble Miss?"

Lavanya sighed as she realized she was probably harsher than she should be. Her teacher Claude would probably have called her out on it. "I apologize...Allan was it? You interrupted me while I was lost in thought over something really important." she lowered her head in apology to the stallion. The mare knew she needed to keep her temper in check around those that were innocent.
"I'd rather not get you involved with my troubles. It could be potentially fatal for you." She really didn't want anyone to get hurt because of her older sister. This was why she never kept any friends.

He gave the mare a wry smile and retorted "Can't be much worse than getting your heart broken. I just thought I'd lend an ear since it seems to be troubling you so much." He stopped for a moment then asked "You're sister didn't take your mate did she? I know most would be upset if a family member did that." He coughed softly, "Sorry, that was impolite of me to ask you something like that when I barely know you."

Lavanya couldn't help but snort at the prospect of even having a mate for someone to steal. "I am a lady knight. So I'm far to busy to have such frivolous things like a mate." her voice now serious as she spoke. She took her role in protecting her family very seriously and since she earned knighthood, she hasn't looked back on her childhood, a time where she used to have fun and play and laugh. None of those things she does anymore.
"But please, my troubles are my own. And if you don't want to be killed for knowing them, then I would suggest you stop asking."

Allan sighed. Maybe being heartbroken was a bad thing, but so was taking on something so big on your own.
"Alright, so you don't have a mate, but still You shouldn't bear this burden alone. Don't you have friends to share your problems with? It isn't healthy to keep such things to yourself. If you don't have any friends, you might consider getting some. They could help support you when you have problems like this."
He moved away a bit and frowned. He should leave her alone. She obviously didn't want his help.
"Sorry I bothered you. You don't want my help and you probably don't want me to stick around. Be well Miss."
He had never gotten her name and would likely never know. He gave a mental shrug and turned to start off.

Lavanya sighed. Where were her manners? Claude would be disappointed in her right now. "No I don't have friends. I've never had time for friends. Being a lady knight takes up to much time to have had these friends." she paused a moment shaking her head. "Forgive my rudeness. You shouldn't be the one to leave. I should for being so rude to someone who was only trying to help."

Allan gave a soft chuckle and wryly smiled at Lavanya. "It's alright. I shouldn't have pried, but it does help to have someone you can talk to outside of your family. Maybe they can give you ideas that you didn't think of."
He shook his head causing his mane to bounce then gave the mare a friendly smile. "Never mind that though. Maybe we should find a way to cheer you up! You're much to pretty to be frowning so often."
He wasn't trying to flirt for once. All he cared about was making her smile. This problem of hers was obviously taking a toll on her and it bothered Allan to see anyone in that sort of situation.
