right now im in a tight spot. i have been submarine disqualified like i have asked. but now they have told me. i have to choose what i would like to do. i can choose to get out early with a general discharge. go surface fleet or possibly even cross over into a diffrent branch. im thinking of staying in the navy. but what i need help with is i would like to talk to a surface person or two to figure out what the diffrent rates that they have offered me actualy do. if you can help me please reply or message me. they have given me till monday to give them a list of three. the rates are: special warfareboat operator mass communications specialist intelligence specialist navy diver explosive ordnance disposal gas turbine system technician electrical interior communications electrician mineman airman fireman seaman special warfare operator cryptologic technician maintenance fire controlman

DO NOT go Airman, Seamen, or Fireman! That would mean you're undesignated and at the Navy's disposal. I recommend going CT because advancement for them is wide open. You can google the rates to get a good idea of what each one does. It is good to talk to people within the rates as well. Good luck!

Your possible ratings:
-special warfareboat operator (SB)-they drive the SOs to whenever they need to go. In other words, you have to be like the SEALS for this rating.
-mass communications specialist (MC)-they're journalist, graphic designers, etc.
-intelligence specialist (IS)-self explanatory
-navy diver (ND)-self explanatory
-explosive ordnance disposal (EOD)-better than AO (aviation ordance); these guys are the one who make, test, and disarm bombs.
-gas turbine system technician electrical (GSE)-you'll work with the gas turbine electrical systems at ships, like CGs, DDGs, and FFGs
-interior communications electrician (IC)-you'll be doing pretty much my job (I'm an AE), but inside the ship. Unlike EMs, ICs also work with the sound powered phones and other communication devices.
-mineman (MN)-self explanatory
-airman (AN)-undesignated airman. not recommended.
fireman (FN)-undesignated fireman. not recommended.
seaman (SN)-undesignated seaman. not recommended.
special warfare operator (SO)-SEAL
cryptologic technician maintenance (CTM)-see ya in Boomerz every weekend (a bar close to Corry Station).
fire controlman (FC)-simmilar to ET, but they are more specific, since they deal with the electronic system of weapons, like guided missiles and make sure weapons are on top condition.
OMG!!!! You can be a SEAL?!!
