[Job Choosing?]

Zen yawned loudly, lying on a tree branch nearby their home, the sound of water vaguely echoing through the forest to his ears.. He'd basically fled from Nico, not bearing to hear his watcher's (wise) advises towards his life, and searched for peace, like always, on top of the trees. Squirrels and birds flew around, already accostumed to the Pundu's hideout, happily pursuing with their lives. Zen, however, had dove head first in his thoughts, bitterly recognizing the truth.

Nico's wrong. I don't need people, I need no one. After all, why should I care for someone who doesn't care about me? To busy to make himself look good to others... It was as if a dark, stormy cloud was set over Zen's head. A particularly bad day...

"What's with the gloomy face?"

"Aaaah!"

Spooked, Zen, for the second time of his life, almost fell off a branch, only this time managing to get a grip and landing on his feet. He glared to Nico, ready to launch all sorts of expressions to voice his anger, but it stood by the intention. How could he tell his watcher to go away like that when all Nico wanted was the best for him? "Ah... Not your business..." he finished moaning, starting to walk back home. "Does that mean I'm right?" Nico cheerfully asked, grinning impishly. Zen trembled from tip to toe, closing his fists, controlling himself to just grumble a few not understandable words.

Back on their hut, the Pundu sat on his desk, pulling the diary he had never used. It was more of a blank notebook Nico (always Nico) had insisted for him to get on primary school, for when he'd want to vent his feelings. And, though the thought of doing it in a written form had sometimes ocurred to him before, only now did he fill like it... Only... "This is so stupid, anybody can read it that way..." Zen moaned, just scribbling curvy lines on the page with his pencil.

The song of the birds reached from the outside, now not masked by the rumbling water. Letting his mind drift off, he began humming the simple line, unconsciously changing to something more suiting to his moods, a heavier and sharpier melody. And with that, came the words...

Quote:

The pain, the lies, they multiplied
it got too much for me.
I have locked myself inside
and swallowed up the key.
I closed the light, I talk all night
I'm such good company.
Don't come for me at home
I've closed it all
I'm as I wanna be.

Search me not
please, search me not
All the yelling hurts my ears.
I've nailed my hands
to the ground
I feed on my blood and tears.

I have tried to socialize
it always got me down.
Decieved and hurt
by the ones I loved
Why should I stick around?

Search me not
please, search me not
All the yelling hurts my ears.
I've nailed my hands
to the ground
I feed on my blood...

Search me not
please, search me not
I am having such a beautiful thing!
I've nailed my hands
to the ground but I'll just
grow myself some wings

I like to be alone
I do, I love
The loneliness...

Over the Pundus's shoulder, Nico silently watched, both worried by the possible meaning of the lyrics and proud for Zen having taken a definite path for himself. "You can speak, you know?" Zen groaned, even if in a lighter tone than before. Alas, a light smile showed on his face, which surprised the watcher. Really rare lately... "So, you decided what you want to be? That's very good, I heard you humming!" Nico said brightly, shifting to float over the desk. Zen simply sighed, rolling his eyes. "Well, if I have to pick something, it could as well be something I like..." he said, shrugging. "Oooh, I can't wait to teach you!" Nico's eyes almost shined, a silly smile invading his face. Zen was already having second thoughts about his pick... What have I just put myself into...

((Hope it's good Rei ^^))

[Sorrows]

Prompt
1st-Most of you are people that have been killed by this monster. It tore you up and ate you. You must now write a journal entry from your point of view that describes how you feel now that you know that it hadn't died, your fears for your Pundu now that it has to deal with the monster, and what you think should be done.

2nd-Your pundu is still young, and hasn't really faced death or been introduced to mixed cultures. From your pundus point of view, write what they fear or expect from this whole event, and what they plan to do to help out or save their own skins.

Nico remained silent all the way back home, reflecting on Lilliki's words. His face bore a deep, worried frown. His heart closed. His mind rushing at light speed. The beast was alive. All the time after his death he thought that at least there was nothing more to worry about this matter, but now it came back to haunt the island. The watcher could almost feel his ethereal body ache as he remembered being caught on the monster's massive jaws, it's teeth piercing through his flesh until his final breath after his neck snapped. He wouldn't let his beloved Pundu take part on the collective genocide that he felt was about to take place.

Zen also thought about the Angelic's words, though it was opening a whole new side of hhim he didn't know. Somehow, the idea of a new massacre didn't fall well on his stomach. Kicking the random stones that crossed his path, he wondered about the other two tribes, scurried from their homelands, damaged. Despite his permanent grudge against the world, was that... solidarity he was feeling. It felt odd to the Pundu, and at first it didn't seem possible... But it was. And it was happening. His kin was in danger, and despite the differences between the three tribes, he was willing to help. Spotting something on their way back, Zen walked out of the path and snatched his object of interest with a knife he was carrying inside his sash.

This thought woke him to his surroundings. Back on their hut, he noticed Zen was sharpening a thick green bamboo cane with a knife, making a pointy edge. "What do you think you're doing?" Nico coldly asked, crossing his arms while floating near his charge.

"Preparing for the fight." The reply was as cold as the question, a determined gleam shinning on Zen's crimson eyes. It was his steady resolution, and he wasn't going to back down.

Nico groaned, clearly angered. He wasn't going to admit any discussion on this subject. "No you're not. You are going to lay low and leave the island as soon as you can. I am definitely not going to sit here and see you get killed, I'd be failing my task as a watcher to keep you safe from danger and aiding you grow."

"Is just that what this is about?" Zen remained strangely calm for his usual self. He was different. "Just the fear of you failing as a watcher because I died?" The Pundu felt a boilling anger towards his watcher. How could he be so selfish? Just thinking about himself and not on ways to prevent a catastrophic event from happening? It disgusted Zen deeply.

"No! It's madness to stand up to the beast! I tried, I gave my life to protect my village, like so many others, and look what has happened to all the humans! Dead! We're all dead! And it serves nothing if you Pundus die as well! The beast will return to it's damned pit only when there's no more life on this island-"

"Or if we kill it..." Zen pointed out, cutting Nico's speech sharply.

"There is no way of killing it!" Nico was practically shouting, gesturing nervously. It was no time to argue, it couldn't be lost like that.

"You forget we, Pundus, are more, better prepared, stronger." Zen stopped his crafting, looking straight at Nico. "You forget this is our home, our island, and that no way we're leaving because of a threat! I'm not a coward! I'm not going to sit on the shore and watch as all I've ever known is destroyed! The Pundus will kill it, and I'll be there fighting as well!" He was yelling back now, standing up from his seat with the cane and the knife raised fiercely against the watcher. He wouldn't move any step away from that island. Ever.

The shouted words echoed around the clearance, but especially on Nico's heart. Coward? It was like glass shattering inside him... One side felt really proud of Zen's bravery and boldness, other just couldn't bear it... "Have it your way. Farewell Zen, I wish you luck on your madness." And, with that, Nico left the hut, fluttering away.

Quietly, Zen didn't even watch Nico leave, back to sharpening. His hands trembled as he continued, to a point he stopped and stabbed the table his was seating on with the knife. "I hate him..." he moaned, sobbing. A single tear ran down his left cheek. The only one on his young life...
