A small shiver eased its way across the mare’s back as the breeze seemed to chill the air a little bit more than normal. Despite it being even cooler underneath the oak’s large branches the mare had refused to have her last set of baskets open anywhere else in the Kawani lands. Her first two sets of children had each had their own baskets tucked neatly underneath watched over the various brown and green eyes of the family and this would be last of them. She only wished was that the large branches would have bore its large green leaves like they had in the spring when the others had been born but nevertheless she couldn’t force nature into anything or predict anything for that matter. A soft smile spread across her lips as one of the baskets wiggled with a sort of impatient behavior, giving a small nudge of reassurance she gave a light snort of breath watching the steam roll across the basket. Her brown eyes searched the area soon others would be here waiting to see their little noses nudge their way out into the light, their small bodies shivering from the unknown cold of the outside world. Her body quivered, the excitement mixed with the sense of sadness seemed to run across her body again this was going to be the hardest part for her, that was until they were old enough to leave.

Cery’s ears perked up as the brown and white stallion in front of her stopped for a moment. Despite seeing the large body a few times in her life her so called nephew who well was older than her seemed to be more so of an unfamiliar member of her family. He was supposedly the son of her older brother Moki but he seemed to look nothing like him. However, he did have the same goofy grin like him, she thought as the turned around to give her a reassuring smile. Not even her own father trusted her finding her way back to their home, all in good reason though of course. She wouldn’t have been able to find it on her own no matter how many years she had lived there.

“We are almost there,” the voice sounded in front of her.

For Tsela this was rather a little weird, true she was his aunt however her naivety of the land and her innocent little face well made him feel like he was older than the trees themselves. Was he really getting that old in age? Geez well at least seeing Kanti would make him feel better that was for sure.

The mare gave another grin to the stallion next to her. Oh little did he know where she was planning to take him next. She had heard from brown and white hawk that seemed to drift with ease in the sky that her mother was having children again. She had to admit that even the chance to meet more of her younger siblings as long as they didn’t turn out anything like her nephew. Ha! Now that she thought about it they couldn’t even call her aunti! Now this put a little more bounce in her step as she gave a little laugh to herself.

for Zer, it seemed Kanti was full of surprises that always seemed to catch him off guard. so far he had meet one family member of hers which was very unexpected and now little did he know he was about to meet the rest of her famly. winking at kanti since she grinned at him, sometimes he truly wondered if he was even winning her over or if it was becoming the other way around as they spent more time together. bah he was not going to think about that now, for now he was going to concentrate on the moment at hand.

With a family as large as Caelyndei's it wasn't any real surprise that whenever anything momentous happened word of it spread like wildfire through the rest of the clan. It was never long before talk of it was everyone's muzzle. As a result, Caely wasn't sure where she'd first heard news that her dear grandmama Alona, the matriarch of the family, had once again been blessed with children. It was a bitter sweet event given that the paint mare's newest aunts and uncles would be the last from her grandparents. They'd certainly had a good run though with many gorgeous sons and daughters and grandchildren to show for it, if the blonde could say so herself.

Prancing on dainty hooves, careful steps carried the chocolate colored female through the woods where the tall trees surrounding her made every direction appear the same. It was the same issue that had caused her to miss the last family reunion even if their gathering place was by the same ancient oak from one basket viewing to the next. Twisting around in place she tried not to let her lip wibble with frustration. Why was it that she had no sense of direction? Sleek ears twitching at the disorienting sounds that echoed around her, circling had probably been her worst idea yet for the mare now was completely turned around uncertain which way she'd originally been heading and which had been at her backside.

Drawing a breath to try and slow her frantic mind a frown tugged at her muzzle, splashed with white. At this rate she'd never make it to her family reunion, another year lost. Not that Caelyndei had much to show for herself. No mate to speak of or foals to add to the family line. She was quickly becoming an outdated old nag. Oh deary dear.

(I think Tsu is going to bring in one of her soq to escort Caely to her family, but I'm not sure. She won't be able to post too quickly and didn't want to hold us up. So.. not sure what the verdict is on that honestly. XD; I hope she joins but I'll make another post if she doesn't and have one of my kids usher Caely along if everyone else is already at the Oak.)

The unicorn would hum a low, brassy note to himself even as he slipped through the trees, the small bells in his hair chiming cheerfully with every sauntering step he took. He was in a good mood today, but when was he not? The forest was singing along with him today, whispering songs through the leaves of old trees and the grasses they sheltered under their branches.

It was always a good day when there was plenty of song to go around.

The older male continued to wander without any real direction, simply happy to go where his feet took him for now. If that meant meeting people he hadn't before, that was just grand. If not, well, there was always another day. And today, it seemed, he was in luck.

"Hmm." Kasthem hummed idly to himself, tossing his hair out of his eyes so he could get a better look at the little lost mare. "You don't look very certain of yourself, hmm~" He was amused, rather than disdainful. Taking it slow was never a bad thing, not when life had given them such a long time to observe all its wonders!

Blais & Bonfire

Well, this was starting off well.

Glancing back over her shoulder, Bonfire wondered again why her sire was subjecting himself to this trip if he was having such an emotional time of it. Twice now, the big paint had tripped and nearly went nose-to-mud, but ever the proud sort, Blais merely picked himself back up and trudged on without a word. Living with Killian had certainly mellowed Bonfire over time, but she could feel her blood pressure rising just watching Blais try and act like nothing was bothering him.

"You didn't have to come." She stated flatly after the third near-fall, spinning around abruptly to face her tall sire. "I can make it to mom's home without you, and at this rate, I'd probably be faster alone anyway." The last was meant to sting Blais's pride, but he was apparently beyond that. After picking himself up for the third time, he merely blinked owlishly at his daughter and then shook his head gravely.

"Don't be foolish." Was all he said, brushing past his dimunitive daughter to take the lead on the trail.

"You are not the only one who would benefit from welcoming your mother's newest siblings."

What an odd thing to say, Bonfire mused silently, morosely falling in behind Blais as he quite literally blazed a new trail through the underbrush. She wasn't going with the intent of reaping any sort of benefit, more as a long overdue attempt at the obligatory familial visit. She knew she had been neglectful in contacting her mother's side of the family, or even her two sisters, but life had come at Bonfire fast... or so she would like to think.

"I'm not going for myself you know." She finally said, coming to a halt with a start when the petulant tone of her voice surprised even herself.

"Don't be naive Bonfire. The need to satisfy one's family is purely self-indulgent, to make us feel better about ourselves through the acceptance of others." The burly paint replied, never once looking back. "And don't fall behind, we are almost there."

Caiez, Cynara & Cyrus [Eve will come in a bit]

Cynara's eyes lowered as a grinned appeared on her face as it leveled with a lighter brown's. "Come on Caiez you think you can take this," she challenged. The feisty female was only three or four hands shorter than her younger brother. He was almost as tall as his father, but not quite a spitting image. Bright green eyes widened in enthrallment, "I believe you have yourself a deal, little lady."

The pair were about to do their normal square off, the father of the two walked past, "Not hear and not now," in his normal low, and gruff tone. He moved to go closer to his beloved mate. He found her cheek and gave her the same warm, nuzzle he had since they met. Together they had endured many obstacles and they had gotten through it. They had ten children together and for him, he couldn't be happier.

Caiez immediately regained his composure as he decided that he would look on the outskirts for his 'date'. He and Faline had bee friends for awhile, she only seemed fitting for this sort of thing. She would be sort of out there, he would stand by her though. She would probably be the first cerynei any of the family had met.

As Caiez wandered off, Cynara shuffled away...embarrassment, maybe. Either way, she was unsure of the emotions she felt anymore. She was more of a leaning shoulder for her mother and would be helping out with raising these bunch too. She didn't have anything better to do and she loved foals.

Jade stare, which perhaps, stood out against the dark shades of the forest that surrounded her wouldn't for long once she reached her family where Cyrus' gem-like gaze influenced many of his offspring. Not that Caelyndei was particularly observant of such things or the jealous sort. Rather it made her feel at home to be around so many that she resembled, the only place she'd really ever found she belonged. It'd be nice to be amongst them again, her mother and father especially. Sleek ears dropped suddenly, the thought reminding her that her parents were no longer together. Would her papa even be there? Would Bonfire for that matter? A frown touched her muzzle at the idea that half her family might not even be at the reunion, momentarily lost in thought even if she didn't have time to stand around musing to herself about things she had no control over.

A warm, melodic sound forced the earthy colored female from her dreading thoughts which seemed only to grow progressively more concerned and guilt ridden the longer she dwell on it. As such, though surprised by the presence of another and abashed that she hadn't noticed hi sooner, the stranger's voice was a welcome reprieve. Canting her delicate head as he approached the piebald stallion was a strange sight and she wondered a bit distantly if the direction he traveled was towards or away from the giant Oak she sought.

W-well.. I.. I'm not. Caely admitted awkwardly in response to his observation, was it really that obvious? Her visage flushed, ducking sheepishly at the idea that she looked as clueless as she felt. Aiyah. Perhaps though, it was good fortune that brought him to her now. Peering up at the other through ebony and straw colored bangs. You... uhm.. you haven't p-passed by a big Oak tree, h-have you?

At some point, Bonfire had learned early in life that disagreeing with Blais was usually hazardous... and while avoiding him when he was in a funk like this was normally the best course of action, she didn't have that option at this point.

Plus, morally, she couldn't let the big stallion stumble into her mother's life when Cynara wouldn't be expecting it. Even worse, what if his funk expanded to include his mother? That just wouldn't do! Bonfire was NOT here to start trouble, she adored foals and their new arrival just as much as anyone else... and this would be Alona's last. So it would be over Bonfire's dead and decaying body that those new lives would enter the world with drama hovering nearby.

"Oh get off your moral high ground dad, if families were so self-centered individually, wouldn't the whole thing fall apart once a good wind called reason blew in? Killian and I have stayed in Elderwillow because we care about Tai, Flame, and even you... not because what you guys say and do make us feel better about ourselves." she said, trotting ahead to dodge around him and block his progress with a flash of teeth and pinned ears. "YOU may have come to make yourself feel better, but I haven't. And frankly, if this is the attitude you're bringing to the party, then I won't let you proceed any farther."

Strong words were not unfamiliar to Bonfire, but they were unusual in being directed at her father. The painted stallion had pulled to a stop with a half rear and a toss of his head, mostly instinctive when shown teeth. His amber eyes narrowed briefly, and his own teeth showed when he replied.

"You won't let me proceed? I suppose this is were Burn acquired his arrogance..." Blais started, staring down at his daughter with scarcely contained outrage.

Surprisingly, the aggressive reaction pleased the smaller black mare. Her father was a warrior, and would be until the day he died, but when he and her mother had had their falling out, the fire had died in the big stallions eyes. She'd worried about him on patrol, and had made sure Seresai kept a covert eye on him, all of which Blais had never shown any sign of noticing. THAT bothered her more then anything else, since Seres was far from superior when it came to stealth tactics... and Blais had also been trained by Crousader to scan the skies as well as the ground.

Matching him tit for tat would be a little difficult given her size, but Bonfire pushed forward anyway, literally pressing her chest against her father's to force him back a step. He gave ground, mostly from surprise... she was maybe 2/3 his size... before digging his feet in and snapping his teeth at her again. "No, he got it through me from YOU. I'm surprised anyone ever put up with any of us!" She shouted back, ignoring the show of teeth. "Will you please just listen for once? This is my grandmother, and while I know I haven't been the best granddaughter, I want to at least show her my support at least once. As my father, you have to respect that." She finished, subsiding only far enough in that she wasn't pressing him physically.

Watching her, Blais wondered if she knew how much she reminded him of Cynara... which was both a blessing and a curse. But he couldn't argue that last point no matter who she looked like, she was his daughter, and she was trying to right a wrong she had made through youthful recklessness.

Of anyone, Blais could sympathize with that kind of sentiment.

To an observer, the pair would have looked like there were still locked in a staring match, until all at once the fire went out of Blais once again and he appeared to deflate, hanging his head over his daughter's withers with a sigh. The muffled, 'I'm sorry' would have went unheard to all except Bonfire, and her relieved reply was lost somewhere between them.

Some time later...

"You know... you said were were almost there quite some time ago."

"And we were."

"So where are we now?"

"Not there."

"Wow, thank you for that inspiring revelation Dad. I'm in awe. "

"Less sarcasm, more looking Bonfire, the trail should be on the left somewhere."

"If we keep turning left we'll be making a circle..."

"Do I need to spank you like when you were a filly?"

Bonfire decided to let it go at that, she was too busy laughing, and hopefully someone would just hear them at this point and show them the way.

Golden brown eyes peered through the clustering trees, wondering if he was even traveling in the right direction the stallion sighed heavily. Jabir was bound to get lost again, and now was the worst time for it. His mother had a strong sense of direction but it seemed that it had not passed on to him, Eve had told him which way to go...it was left right? Or right? Over there maybe? His own ignorance was getting in the way of meeting Eve, and her family for that matter. With such an event, an important event for both his own relations with Eve and her family...and this is how it was beginning. The trees were sturdy and yet swayed with the fair wind, leaves were fighting to stay on the branches and the sun was in just the right position to make for a fair temperature today.

"How on earth did I manage to get myself so darn confused,"

Grumbling out loud he took one more look around and decided to continue in the direction he had been headed in the hopes his instinct was correct. Eve would surely be a little baffled by how easily he managed to muck up her directions but he was sure it wouldn't surprise the mare any. SHe was smart and caught on quickly that while he meant well, the stallion had a way of tripping over his own hooves.

Kanti gave a shake of her head as the stallion next to her gave her a wink. There was going to be no doubt that her mother was going to take this the wrong way. Her daughter with a stallion only equaled a mate in her mother’s eyes, and as Kanti gave a second look at Zer that was never going to happen over her dead body. The crows would have to pick the life from her before she ever thought about caring for such a rather full of himself windbag. So why was she still traveling with him? Pfft as if she was ever going to figure that one out. She could only guess that she wanted company while she seemed to make her way through the Kawani lands and sure he proved to be a rather decent body guard when she needed him to be.

“So tell me Zer how good are you with little foals?” She replied as the trees started to thin out. It wouldn’t be long before they reached the out edge of the forest and the large oak tree wouldn’t be much further ahead.

The icy blue eyes scanned the outer edge looking for the familiar shape of the stallion who had invited her to such a gathering. The small framed doe’s body gave a small shivering shake as she saw a larger black stallion make his way between the mare and Caiez. His glare alone made the two whom seemed to have been wanting to spar immediately stop from their actions. So he must have been the father Caiez had mentioned on their last small trip to mountain regions of the Kawani lands. Something about him vaguely reminded her of the familiar father shape that in muddy memories of her dreams would appear. Strong and bold in his appearance but warmth and care that seemed to spill with ease from his lips every time he spoke, she could see the same in the brown stallion that stood next to him though he would never allow her to admit it.

Giving him a faint smile as he headed towards the direction of where she stood her body sent another shiver across her back. If it was from fear or from excitement she couldn’t tell. It was an honor to see something such as foals emerging from their baskets for the first time but at the same time she was rather nervous about being at such a large gathering. Her small frame and body would make her the smallest adult there not to mention all of the eyes of various family members giving her odd looks. Maybe it wasn’t too late to change her mind? No, this was something she was rather curious to see; she couldn’t remember her own birth let alone wasn’t allowed to view any of the others while in the Cerynei herd. Too young, you don’t belong there, you will only get in the way were the only words she could remember when a fawns were promised to be born in a family. Faline knew no matter what happened she wasn’t going to give this opportunity away to her fears.

“Are you sure we are going the right way Tsela?” The dark mare replied as the stallion next to her gave a rather grunt of annoyance. This was the third time in the last hour he had given some sort of noise of dissatisfaction not to mention she could have sworn that he had said they were almost there.

“We are not lost Cerys,” he replied as he ears picked up a rather unusual noise. Great, now with his aunt’s unneeded chatter seemed to grab the attention of something else in the forest; this was not what he had asked for in such a trip.

“Shush Cerys, I heard something,” he replied giving the mare a small nudge. Her brown eyes gave a quick glance to him before moving closer. Soquili meat shield, oh joy! His brows gave a rather disgruntled look as he looked back at the mare. She gave him a rather cheerful grin.

“Now look at this isn’t this just cute. Aunt and nephew together, now if only the two of you were a little more aware you would have noticed I was following for the last two hours where you were going.” A voice sounded from the trees. A foot larger stallion appeared out from behind the trees his black mane rather worse for wear but the goofy grin that seemed to etch its way across his face made him seem rather half insane and odd.

“MOKI!” Cerys cried as she pounced her way over to him. Giving him a small playful n** before turning back to the other stallion, “now we are not lost!”

Tsela shook his head his father’s voice ringing in his ears, there was always something he had done wrong.

A light giggle rolled off the mare’s lips as the larger stallion nuzzled her cheek. “You always show up at the right time to stop their fun you know that.” She replied before resting her check on his shoulder, she had to admit she was a little relieved with him stopping the spar before it started. Two siblings making a scene wasn’t something she wanted the rest of the guest coming to see as soon as their arrived there. Giving him a nudge on the shoulder before eyeing the baskets again, “so what do you think two girls and two boys? Or maybe three boys and girl?”

Eve hadn't quite made it to the tree yet either, she was taking her old, sweet time by admiring all of the trees around her. She was distracted quite easily, though her timeliness wasn't her greatest attributes, nor did her grandfather appreciate such things, it was more widley accepted because she was a granddaughter rather than a daughter. She would hate to see her grandfather's face if her mother was late. Her multicolored eyes drifted as she heard something familiar. A voice? She recognized it almost immediately. She trotted further with a little more interest...it couldn't possibly be...and when she saw him, she still couldn't believe.

"Dad?" her eyes widened as her face widened into a grin. She pranced over to the pair and started nosing her sister and father. Obviously the more young at heart from the bunch. "Hi Bonfire," she smiled again. "I was looking for Jabir in all honesty and found you," she laughed. The paint thought it was amusing that on her cross ways she found her father and sister rather than the male who was to accompany her on this festivity.

Cynara's own ears perked up as she heard the sounds of twigs cracking and grumbling, curious as she was she started to go towards the tree line. As she looked out she could see a rather large golden colored male with a white mane and tail. She didn't recognize him, but perhaps he was here with someone, he looked rather lost. It seemed like a hard place to find for some. "Hi there!" she called out to Jabir, her more petite figure glided through the tree lines with ease as she peered at the stallion. "You look a little lost," she was more than willing to help the poor fellow to find wherever he was going.

The light brown stallion saw the female in the corner of his eye. His ebony locks bounced as he went into a trot, she had the look in her eye as if she were going to spook. She was pretty, he was wondering what his father would make of her tail and no mane. He thought she was cute, he knew his mother would love her. She loved everyone, it was usually Cyrus who pushed or pulled others in. He could be intimidating when he wanted to be. As far as he knew, Cyrus was only disappointed in two of their immediate family. He had never met one of them, she was from there first bunch...he never really asked.

He gave a little bow to her in greeting, he was more formal than most of his family. The male gave her a smile of reassurance as he stood by her side, "You ready? They will love you, so you won't have to worry about a thing...I'm sure my sisters will dote on you," he winked.

Cyrus gave a look of 'shock', "Well, I thought that was my job," he replied with a bit of sarcasm, he smiled at his beloved. "I don't know if I can handle more girls or boys," he chuckled. "Four is a handful..." he started to think to himself. This would be their last set of children, Alona and himself were aging, it was time their children and their children's children had their own offspring. Out of some miracle something could happen, but he doubted it himself. "They will have their fun when their new siblings pop up. Sure they will be tired but first but they wind up after the first hour." He always remembered how that went. He would stay up with them and watch them find their ground, he would fall asleep with them only to find them tugging his main and ears for him to get up in an hour. Cyrus always did get up, he doted upon his children with all the love he could give them, and all the discipline as well.

Zer grew wide eyed at the mention of little foals. the last time he ever met little foals was when his grandfather Rahu had kids for the second time and they where little hell raisers for sure. just what the hell he now let Kanti get him into was beyond him. " im going to admit i have not been around foals really, not since my grandfather had more kids quite some time ago nad they been adults for a while now. so i have no clue if i'm good with foals or not." grunting, he hoped he could manage to get through this alive. it seemed to him kanti loved to push him and see just how long he would stick around.

User ImageThe little green foal shuddered as the breeze whipped through her mane. She was utterly lost and now was adding cold and scared to the list of things she didn't like. Andraste was an orphan and as such was use to being on her own but in this new place she was feeling very vulnerable. She should have never gone off to explore. Why did she always insist on doing this sort of thing? Andi groused at herself some more for getting lost among the trees. It was better to be out in the open where she could easily hide among the grasses that she blended so well with but no... she just had to go someplace where she would stick out. Blowing out a soft snort she tried to look on the bright side. This was just another in the long list of adventures that she would be able to share when she was older.

Her ears flickered as she continued on her way further through the trees. "No point in going back now. Might as well see what is this way. That's what you do when you're an adventurer." She tossed her head defiantly hoping to at least appear less scared but then she froze. Ears straining she listened. Andi could have sworn that she heard voices coming from the trees. Trees could talk? If they could talk what else could they do to a little lost foal? Her eyes were wide with fright but her legs refused to move. "No! Go away! I don't taste good. I don't want to be eaten by a tree. She whinnied loudly as she dropped to the ground and curled into a ball to hide in the leaves like she did in the fields of tall grass; a bright emerald ball hidden amongst the subtle shades of brown.

Stopping short of the noise Jabir noticed that there was a female, older than Eve but similar in features to her standing just a short distance away from himself. Had he really been focused so much in his own mind that he hadn't been aware of this mare being so close? Shaking the thought off he listened as the mare spoke, she had a lovely voice just like Eve did. She had to be her family, which meant...wait...without Eve he had no idea who this lady was...crap.

"Well yes m'am. I am actually. I was wondering if you might know, there's a family gathering up and I'm supposed to meet them somewhere around these parts.

Motioning to where he had come from Jabir sighed, everything seemed the same in these parts, hopefully the mare could help him a bit.

The stallion amiably shifted his weight from leg to leg while he waited for the paint mare to speak, a crooked sort of smile on his lips and a hum still stirring in his throat. He had all the time in the world to wait for a response, and a chuckle slipped from him as she admitted that she was, indeed, uncertain. "Nothing to be ashamed of, mm. Honesty is much better than pride." Not that he would know, being the vagrant, idling bum that he was, but nothing had proved his line of thinking wrong just quite yet!

"A big oak tree~" It was a brassy, hummed sort of statement, and his tail flicked thoughtfully. "Many big oak trees in this forest, mm. I think, however, that I have. Is that where you're headed?"

The male had already turned as though to show her the way, grinning lazily over one shoulder. "We can talk, as we go, mm~ I'm Kasthem. You're a funny little mare." He seemed to decide to himself with another chuckle, tossing his head and failing to get his bangs out of his eyes.
