Who: LuLu, Lucia, Josh

Where: Josh and LuLu's front yard

When: Midday

Weather: Clear and cool, but not frigid
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2010 6:49 pm

Lucia had been going everywhere. With Brian leading the way, the frei had been more places than she cared to go. And she had experienced more than she wished to experience. She was a killer. She killed Yuurei. She killed those other people. Just random people who happened to be downtown. She didn’t know anything about them. And Brian told her she had killed someone else too. Some girl who worked at a café. The frei had stopped fighting. All of her fight was gone. Brian could use her body to do anything, or tell her to believe anything and she would. She had killed those people two nights ago. Asleep or not, it was her body that killed that girl. She had watched as her hand sliced that guy’s throat. She had felt her body’s new laugh as the warm blood oozed out at first and then soaked her hands. She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. She wanted to disappear. And she couldn’t do anything but watch. Sometimes she just tried to sleep, but since two nights ago all of her dreams were blood and pain. No matter what she couldn’t escape it. The blood and the pain were everywhere. Bring herself back to her consciousness, the kitten noticed that this area was similar to that time that she got lost with Varun. Aekea was it?

Brian smirked. He had looked it up in her laptop while she was asleep. She realized the town, but not where they were headed. And there they were, he thought turning towards the building. In fact, there she was. Over a fence was a rabbit. A cute little bunny. Well – not exactly, he thought as his eyes traveled further down the ears to her face, body and ribbon. Another raevan. LuLu. What the hell kind of name was that? He looked over the fence directly at the rabbit, just to make sure that the kitten noticed. Hearing her soft panicked moan, a smile lit up Lucia’s face. She noticed. You’ve been so withdrawn lately. I don’t hear nearly as much prattle as I used to. So I figured a nice visit with a friend might open you up again.

LuLu was out in her front yard. By herself. And Brian was almost drooling. The kitten could do nothing but whimper to herself, hoping that they chanced there by accident. That Brian didn’t really want her to kill her friend. That he wouldn’t make her attack. Lucia tried to block reality out, but her fear for what she would do kept her focused. The frei bounded over the fence and smiled at the rabbit with an enthusiastic wave. ”Hi LuLu! I thought I’d surprise you with a visit!” He couldn’t help himself as Lucia’s smile spread wider and wider and he broke down into the laughter that sounded so much like a sob. There was a fire in Lucia’s eyes as Brian examined the frei before him. These animals…so weak. One hand was held behind her back, hiding the fun surprise he had in store for the long-eared frei. And feeling so foreign in her body, Lucia didn't notice it either.

LuLu was busily participating in her daily pastime: playing outside. The frei giggled as she tumbled about on the ground. Her arms writhed as she let out a squeal of fake terror. Most likely she was pretending to be some sort of daring heroine caught in a insidious trap. Anyone watching her would think that she had gone crazy.

The raevan let loose a more boisterous scream and quickly looked at the house's windows to see if she could spy her guardian. Sure enough, the boy had pounced hurriedly to the large plane of glass to inspect if anything had happened to LuLu. He shot the girl a soft pout when he realized nothing was amiss. Josh was still on edge when LuLu left the house. After all, she had run away before and the infection was not too far behind them. He almost regretted having her meet Eiry before. She seemed to take after him in some ways. The boy sighed and waved to LuLu before he slipped back into the confines of their house. Meanwhile, the rabbit was sprawled out on the dew grass trying to control a fit of laughter.

Blond ears shot upward as they caught an unfamiliar note in the air. The brittle grinding of wood and a the gentle displacement of air. The frei rolled over onto her stomach and hugged the ground. Lavender eyes deftly scanned the horizon. However, her search was interrupted as a rich, feminine tenor danced across the grass. Lucia? The rabbit was unsure. This voice was definitely familiar; yet, the cat's voice was usually more sweet, like a red wine. This tone was a bit more sour. LuLu floated off of the ground to get a better look at the intruder. Sure enough, it was Lucia. The rabbit's expression softened as she floated closer, a giddy bounce was in her 'step'. "Wow! A while since someone came over. I am happy you are here," a goofy smile splayed across her face, "What do you want to do? Play? Talk?" The rabbit added as almost an afterthought, "Are you sick?" Perhaps that would explain her change in tone?

Lucia’s sob-like laughter slowed to a stop as her friend began speaking. Her purple orbs were locked on the frei and she stared, unblinking with that practiced sweet smile on her face. ”No! I’m not sick, silly. I came to play with you! I missed you.” This was hard to do with a straight face. Brian floated closer to the blonde frei, his hand grasping the baton he had still compacted behind the kitten’s back. Lucia’s finger rested on the button and all he had to do was push it, and the baton would extend and he could swing. He tried to imagine the crack that the metal would make as it hit her body. The soft cry of realization as he showed the weapon to her. The smack and crack as the baton hit her and began by breaking a bone. And then he would hit again. And again. And again. Her blood would be his prize. The fear in her amethyst eyes, so close to the ones through which he was viewing the world, would be his trophy. And the knowledge that Luica killed one of her own, would be the sweet dessert. The cherry on top. Oh wow. He thought, a giggle escaping Lucia’s lips. This would be so much fun. A mad smile broke across Lucia’s face, but Brian held himself back. He wanted to just swing. He wanted to jump for it. To get his prizes now. But delayed satisfaction just heightened the pleasure. For now, LuLu could be happy. Once she was satisfied and happy that Lucia was there, he would pounce. An ironic idea considering he was in a cat-thing’s body.

Lucia, however, had shut down. She was blank. The frei couldn’t help but watch what she was doing. There was nothing she could do to control it. She had learned that lesson well. And now she had murdered four people and was going onto a fifth. A raevan -- LuLu. The frei broke into dispair. She didn’t want to be a murderer. She didn’t want to hurt her friend. But there was nothing she could do. The kitten was powerless and had no control.

Lucia floated over towards LuLu and gave her a hug. ”It’s been a while! What do you want to play?” he asked with enthusiasm being the only indicator of her altered mind. Brian had practiced well. He knew Lucia’s subtleties.

LuLu could not help but watch Lucia curiously. The kitten seemed to have become lost in her own world for a moment. A smile was pasted on the cat's face but her eyes seemed distant and elsewhere. Maybe Lucia was thinking about the fun things that they could do together? After all, LuLu was.

The rabbit jumped slightly as Lucia approached. The cat frei's movement was sudden; however, it was not unwelcome. The rabbit relaxed and gave the other raevan one of the biggest hugs she could muster. She giggled softly as she released her friend. LuLu's laughter filled the air like a the chime of a bell.

She did not realize how much she had missed seeing Lucia until now.

The rabbit took the kitten's hand in her own. "We can play tag."

A smile spread across Lucia’s face at her friend’s suggestion. Brushing her bangs to the side of her face the kitten’s eyes narrowed. ”Okay! But you’re it first!” she cried out, releasing LuLu’s hand and touching her shoulder as the game began. The frei brought her hands in front of her as she zoomed away from the rabbit towards the back yard.

Brian wasn’t “running” too quickly. He knew he could easily get away from the younger raevan, especially as Lucia’s muscles began to burn from being pushed too hard with his superior strength. But he didn’t want to run too far. He wanted to be caught. He wanted her to tag him, because when she did it would be his time to chase. And he wouldn’t be looking to gently tap her with his fingers.

Lucia’s knuckles began to turn white as she grasped the baton handle tighter and tighter, breaking into the sobbing giggles. She looked over her shoulder to see where LuLu was and slowed down enough to be caught.

The rabbit floated in place for a few moments. Her hand opened and closed a few times as if trying to feel a presence that was no longer there. The warmth of Lucia's palm still lingered in her closed fist. Lavender eyes widened as she saw the aforementioned kitten speed off. It finally registered in LuLu's mind that SHE was the one who had been declared 'it'. Usually, the rabbit was the one who got to call the shots during playtime. The sudden switching of roles caught her off guard.

The small frei let out a startled gasp and barreled after her companion. Blond ears bobbled in the air as she made a clumsy path after Lucia. Her arms were outstretched like two lumbering branches. The girl was so used to being chased that she had never given much thought to the other person's position. She concluded that she was not cut out for this following thing.

She much preferred to be the one being hunted.

LuLu noticed the sudden lag in Lucia’s movements and took full advantage of the situation. She pounced forward and her slender arms wrapped around the kitten in a weak embrace. The rabbit squealed at the top of her lungs as though she wanted to inform the world of her accomplishment, “I got you!”

Josh made quick note of LuLu’s scream. He stood up from the kitchen table and approached an open window. The boy looked out through the small gaps in the blinds and toward the back yard. He was shocked to find that his raevan had an unexpected guest in tow. The other raevan was familiar. Lucia wasn’t it? He faintly remembered her from the Halloween party that they had left early from. The boy was about to go outside and inquire why she was there, but something made him stop.

LuLu’s smile.

It had been a while since he had seen her genuinely happy like that. The boy choked on a lump forming in his throat. It couldn’t hurt to let them play for a while longer. He would just watch them from here.

Brian was waiting for the pushing touch as the Rabbit bounded towards the other side of the world to get away from him. When her arms suddenly encircles him, and a shrill cry pierces Lucia’s sensitive ears, he almost panicked. Had the stupid bunny realized something was odd about Lucia’s behavior?

As he registered the
”I got you!” that was yelped to reverberate in Lucia’s head, he only realized that it was her way of tagging. ”Yes,” he said plainly, monotone, and almost solemnly. A broad smile broke across Lucia’s face, but it wasn’t one that fit the mood. It was mad, maniacal, even evil. Her thumb pushed the button to extend the black baton and the Kitten’s eyes went wide with excitement.

”And now,” Lucia’s voice rang out clearly as he broke the hug and turned to face LuLu. The dangerous smile and look in her violet eyes as his weapon was put on display for the Rabbit was held for a second as he waited with anticipation. What would she do? Would she know what it was? Would she run? Or would she mindlessly ogle the means of her destruction?

The frei was staring at her friend’s face. Run she thought. Please run! Please outrun me and don’t let me hurt you. She cared for LuLu. She did not want to hurt her friend. Please get away!!! she pleaded silently for no one to acknowledge.

The second LuLu’a arms wrapped around Lucia she felt a foreboding aura surrounding the kitten. The rabbit nearly gagged on the ominous feeling that was smothering her. It was as if she was the one who had been caught rather than Lucia.

“click”

A muffled sound erupted from behind Lucia’s back. The rabbit removed herself from her kitten accomplice and tilted her fragile head to the side. Her blond ears swiveled forward like a curious puppy that was unsure what to make of its newest plaything. LuLu’s sharply cut bangs fell across her forehead to reveal the soft patch of skin and skull just catercorner of her eyes. It was like an enticing strip tease. A great reveal. LuLu’s temple was practically begging to be bashed in.

The rabbit’s eyes nearly tripled in size when they caught sight of the retractable baton that was poised rather viciously over Lucia’s head. Lavender disks traced over its sleek surface in fear. The younger frei felt her mouth go dry as she tried to let out another squeal. The honeyed, sweet voice she had possessed only moment before had been strangled into a number of airy gasps. She clenched her fists at her sides and allowed her gazed to fall onto Lucia’s face. She felt tears bubble up in her eyes like a fresh spring. The twisted smile Lucia wore was not familiar to LuLu. It appeared awkward on the kitten’s face like a Cheshire grin. This could not be the Lucia she knew. A shaky voice warbled faintly, “W-why?”

Josh watched casually as the two played their game. Judging by the way LuLu had tackled the other frei it must have been tag. He chuckled to himself. It seemed to be going well. The boy was about to resign back into the kitchen when he noticed the sudden change in LuLu’ s expression. The rabbit’s face had crumbled from an enchanting smile into a bleak frown. What was wrong?

The boy found his answer almost immediately as a baton hovered just above his precious frei. Josh wasted no time in grabbing the nearest blunt object and barreling outside. As he burst through the door, the boy made the gruesome realization of just how far away his raevan was. A few feet seemed to have stretched and morphed into few thousand miles as he raced towards the two. The boy prayed he would make it in time.

The frei was aghast as she felt the blue and white feathers between her fingers. The way the Rabbit had just fallen over, the way she just collapsed to the ground after Brian hit her – it just wasn’t – she just had to hope Josh would be able to take care of her.

She had faith in him – he had been so nice at the garage that one time. But she hoped that LuLu wouldn’t be too hurt.

Please let her be okay, she thought, not paying attention to wherever Brian was taking her body.

Josh felt his stomach drop to his feet. It knotted tightly almost as if he was tripping over it as he ran forward. He witness LuLu’s head snap the side like a brittle twig breaking in a ferocious breeze. He could see the frei’s ears go limp as she fell to a heap below Lucia. There was nothing the boy could do to stop the cat raevan as she bolted off. By the time he had reached LuLu, Lucia had already scaled the fence and escaped. She was now gone and Josh had been left with an incapacitated raevan and the early traces of a panic attack.

The boy lifted his hand to LuLu’s chest. Shallow breathes caused her half formed torso to rise and fall against his palm. Josh’s other hand grazed the swelling lump on the rabbit’s forehead. They were signs that the girl was alive; however, the vacant façade she now wore spoke differently. He grasped either one of LuLu’s slim shoulders and gave her a light shake before waiting for a response. Josh was met with a creeping silence that grew around him until it filled the air completely. He had to choke back a sob. The boy scooped up the rabbit’s sagging body and retreated into his home. He had to find help for her.

LuLu was not sure when she was struck. She barely noticed as the world began to slowly spin. The only sound she could hear the blood rapidly pumping to her brain. The sound was raw and carnal. It beat in her ears like a savage drum.

Her vision began to fade until everything went dark.
