Last week we reformatted the computer because of a virus >we had virus protection but it screwed up<. We don't have any protection at the moment, so I want your opinion.. What's the best virus protection to get?

I'm not sure of any good virus protection, but I was told that Norton isn't very good. Though, it seemed to have worked fine for me.

[I have Norton 360 and it's working for me.
But free is always a better price, so I'd go for AVG. n.n]

Norton never worked for me. I didn't like it, we had it a few years back. We've never had AVG, I've never heard of it. But I'll give it a shot. =] >I don't think, anyway<
Edit;; I recognize the icon though. xD

I'm not an expert or anything, but I use Webroot. And It's worked great for me.
I do know, that Norton slows down your computer.

I use McAfee, but if it's a really bad website, it will load slower.

Personally, I hated Norton, it was more like a virus attractor rather than a virus blocker. I've been using AVG Free for a long time, and I've had very very few problems. Other people don't like it and have other favourites, but I like AVG, for sure. Just keep it updated!! If you don't, it's a bugger to get back up to speed and/or have to delete and then replace.

If you want it free, I'd suggest HouseCall.

The place my mother works uses AVg and that's what we use here at home. It's a really good program, I've yet to have anything enter my system *knocks on wood*

[ "私は永遠に、あなたを待っている残るよ..."] Windows Defender, if you decide to buy the full version, works pretty well and doesn't slow you down as it runs in the background.
I currently have SUPERAntiSpyware (the FREE version you can download) and it pretty much weeds out whatevers lurking on your computer - for free software, I do recommend this one. My boyfriend's ninong (uncle who works in the IT department) recommended this to us after I tried out McAfee (Horrible... slowed down EVERYTHING gonk )
The only problem with SUPERAntiSpyware is that if you get the free version you can ONLY scan for viruses manually. In order to keep it running on a schedule you have to buy it (which is $30 dollars - not bad.)
Good luck finding a good program.
