Patrolling. It had only been a recent duty of Wolframite to start sneaking out past curfew and dressed as a member of the Negaverse – walk around. He had little idea what patrolling meant and would wander around, keeping his eye out for any sign of what a starseed might be and the cops. As for senshi, he hadn’t seen them. For all the hype the news gave, you’d think that there would be a senshi hiding in every trashcan. It wasn’t until now he would finally get to see what he was suppose to be doing without just feeling his way along. How was he suppose to do the duties of a Negaverser without knowing what they were?!
Luckily, he had Serandite. Not only had she trained him, she was going to show him the ropes. Well, not the ropes. He had the ropes. She had the bunny, but you got the point. Meeting up again at the park, he came already dressed in his uniform and with his weapon. Thrilled, he even took the back way there, up and over the stone wall. It was AMAZING the types of things he could do. The height thing was still a bit scary, and he wasn’t about to leap up any skyscrapers, but it certainly made getting from place to place a lot quicker and a heck of a lot easier when avoiding the cops. What cop ever bothered to look up?
Meeting, he went to salute but remembered she told him not to. Instead, he settled for a wave and the pair set off. Now this was what he was going for. A team. This was how it was suppose to be in the first place! A rookie with a senior, even if she looked around his age.

Virgo was good at keeping her promises. It was something she did religiously; probably somewhere deep inside her desk was a book labelled Promises I Have Made, just so she could keep track of them. Tonight, she was keeping a solemn vow to her Princess: Never patrol alone.
That was why she had Pisces.
Pisces was a good friend, one of her best friends, and Elke had been very thrilled when her email to Pierrette had come back with an affirmative. As members of the same court, and furthermore members of the same team inside that court, they had to stick together! Virgo was taking this very literally, holding gloved hands with Pisces as they walked down the sparsely-lit street.
"It's dark, isn't it? It's really dark, Pisces," Virgo was saying, casting her eyes to a broken streetlight. "I am going to write a strongly-worded letter and hope they make it not so dark at nighttime anymore."

If Wolframite told Serandite that he considered her as a senior, she would have expressed prideful delight in that bit of news. After all, she would have considered herself nowhere near the "senior" status but it was nice being called so. After all, Serandite could honestly admit, she wasn't lacking in experience.
At least, she had experience.
"I hope we find something interesting tonight. It'd be a shame to take you out on a boring training mission." She shook her head as she leaped forward, her weapon currently resting in the mysterious negaverse zone where all weapons laid dormant, allowing her to jump freely, her hands grabbing a branch to soften her next landing. She held up her pointer finger, instructing the other as she did so.
"What we're looking for is senshi, okay? You can usually tell them by their outrageously gorgeous uniforms and the whole do-gooder actions. If we can get their starseeds, it's a huge bonus for us. Their outfits are reaaaaallly nice. I'm telling you, they're every girl's dream. " As Wolframite would learn, Serandite digressed. A lot.
"They're fun people though. It's a shame we're on different sides. I'm sure you'll run into them soon. Destiny City is like a giant stoplight for negaversers and senshi alike." She widened her arms, in the shape of an imaginary stoplight.

"Maybe you should ask someone else to write that letter," Pisces laughed as she swung their held hands. "No offense, but I don't think they'd take your letter very seriously. They might need something with a little more 'oomph'.
She thought she saw some sort of flailing in the distance (actually, it was Serandite's impression of a stoplight), so she looked across the pond. It was a little hard to miss the gigantic plush rabbit.
"Oh, how cute!" Pisces pointed across the pond. "She has a bunny! Hold on, Virgo, I'm going to have some fun."
Pisces let go of Virgo's hand and stood still, closing her eyes. There was a 'pop' of color in her mind, and then Pisces opened her eyes back up. A white rabbit with a velveteen waistcoat and top hat was standing across the pond, a little ways in front of Serandite and Wolfram.
"Oh dear, oh dear," he clucked his tongue and looked from the two Negaverse lieutenants down to the ground. "It is awfully late tonight, isn't it?"

Every girl’s dream wasn’t something Ladon could put a picture to as he never understood what girl’s dreamed of in the first place, but he kept his eyes out as he followed the pink Lieutenant. Having just recently learned about jumping, there was no grace in his actions, and he was left bounding from one branch to the next, halting to grab a tree truck or flail an arm in order to keep himself from failing. Catching branches and doing arboretum acrobatics was still out of his range.
Leaping to the tree that Serandite pointed to, he grabbed the trunk and tried not to look down. “Have you met a lot of senshi? I haven’t even spotted one.” It was real shame too, considering he really wanted to see if the news had been true in their depictions. Dresses and magical lights? It sounded too off the wall for him, but he was leaping around in a uniform after all, so what did he know?
Her giant stoplight caused to him smile, taking it that Serandite was big on showing what she was saying. Whether he saw a senshi or not, it was still a treat to not be doing patrols on his own.
Turning, he leap up to go to the next branch, pushing off and heading for a sturdy branch. It was while he looked out for any glimmer of what could be a senshi did he catch the sight of a rabbit. Not just your typical city-rabbit-in-the-part rabbit, but a walking rabbit with a waistcoat and top hat to boot!
The Lieutenant was left gawking as the (terribly cute!!) rabbit toddled along, talking ot itself – TALKING – and making Wolframite wonder if he had stepped out of reality and was now in a chapter of Alice in Wonderland. If he was, it would explain the falling.
“Oh shi- “
He turned in time to see the branch coming up and landed, missed grabbing any nearby branches, and fell off. Down, down, right on his back. Wincing, he rolled to his side as he held the back of his head and looked out across the grass to STILL see the rabbit. “Please tell me you see that.” If she didn’t, he might have to go to the hospital for head trauma, even though the hallucination started before he fell.

It would have been nice to have gotten from reply from Serandite. She probably would have, a concerned one, if the figure before her had not been another giant rabbit. She had to emphasize, another giant rabbit. Her eyes widened in glee, her expression so positively full of delight, it seemed like she could die happy right there.
As her outfit indicated, she was absolutely crazy about rabbits.
She crossed the small distance to throw herself in the large bunny's arms, or more accurately, cling to the bunny's giant art, squealing as she did so. "You are ADORABLE. Would you mind if I stole your hat to try out on my bunny, lovely Mister. Velveteen?" Already, she had given the large bunny a name, without bothering to find out if it was a ploy or not. She really should have known better, that it may be a trap. But one had to admit that it was ridiculously cute.

Virgo straightened up, put one hand on her chest in perfect offended innocence. "Are you saying I don't have strong enough words, Pisces," she pouted, and then she stopped to look where Pisces had indicated. Both hands flew up to cover her mouth; she knew that lady with the bunny! And she kind of liked her, but not enough that she didn't pull her compatriot down out of sight behind some bushes.
"Pisces, those are Negaverse agents," she whispered fiercely, "I know the one in pink, she's kind of crazy."
She tuned back into the enemy, staring across the pond. "Oh no, I think she's going to touch the bunny..."

"What?!" as Virgo pulled Pisces down, Mr. Velveteen flickered. "Oh no, if she touches him, then--"
She did more than just touch him, Serandite hugged him. Her arms reached around his midsection, only to touch nothing. Worried sweat dripped down Pisces' forehead as he rabbit continued to flicker.
"Oh dear, oh my oh my," said Mr. Velveteen. "I'm afraid I cannot be touched, my dear, simply cannot be touched. It puts a whole, awkward spin on the whole situation."
Pisces bit her lip, then willed the rabbit vision to hop out of Serandite's arms and twirl his top hat.
"Now, my dear girl, what would you be doing here tonight? A little bird told me that you are in league with some naughty, naughty people. Why would you do something like that? It's a real pity!"

Getting no answer, Wolframite managed to roll over and back to his feet. It seemed that not only did Serandite see the rabbit, she was making friends with it. He should have known, what with the rabbit she carried around, but the way she told him not to make fun of her weapon made him wonder if she was just stuck with it like he was with his jump rope. It would seem that his teacher was a rabbit aficionado, and if there was anything to fuss over, a giant, talking rabbit was it. Even he had to admit it was just downright adorable, and the rising urge to rush over and greet it, touch it's ears, and fluff it's tail pulled him forward. Not only did he had his own plush rabbit at home, he also talked to it, but never in all his years did a plushie talk back! He had to ask how this was possible, but since Serandite didn’t seem to mind, he wasn't going to think too hard about it. Creeping up behind her, he looked over her shoulder at the rabbit. It didn't SEEM dangerous.
It just looked like a soft rabbit with a fluffy tail, nicely buttoned vest, and matching top hat. It’s nose was pink, and it’s glimmering eyes looked down at them, causing one of it’s ears to flop down. It hopped about, tilting it’s hat, and whatever suspicion Wolframite had was lot to the cripple powers of gosh-darn cuteness!
“Ah, hello Mr. …Velveteen, sir? We’re not naughty people. We’re actually very good people. You must have us confused with someone else.” He was talking to a giant bunny. If he knew this was possible, he would have put this on his list of Things to Do Before I Die and checked it off!
“What little bird has been telling you about us? I think it’s lying.” And more importantly, it was spying on them. How did this bizarre rabbit know about them?

Wouldnt you know it. Just her luck, that Serandite couldnt touch this lovely velventeen rabbit in front of her. She waved her hand in front of her in a disappointing manner. Not that he couldn't be touched, she had absolutely no care for it any more. She did give credit to it's creator though, since the creator obviously had a very lovely imagination.
It's next words dropped the bomb though.
"It's a real pity that you weren't real. I really would have enjoyed it if you had been." Serandite shook her head sadly, all previous fond thoughts on the rabbit was now gone.
Two deductions. First, the person who owned the rabbit knew her. Obviously, they didn't know the other lietenant here, since he had yet to meet any senshi. Second, they had to be somewhere around here because one does not conjure a bunny from halfway across the city. She held out a hand to stop her fellow lieutenant from advancing further.
"No need to try bluff our way out of this situation. In fact, this might be some good training exercises." She didn't elaborate on her sentence until a few seconds later, a positively dark grin crossing her expression, brown eyes shadowed under her bangs.
"So.. Is it necessary to make introductions Mr. Velventeen or are you somebody I already know?" She asked the rabbit, making a hand gesture for Wolframite to search the area. After all, they had to be somewhere around here. Unless the creator was amazingly powerful enough to conjure it from across the city after all.

"Oh crap," whispered Virgo, her green eyes wide. "Pisces, d'you have to be able to see the bunny for it to work? We're going to have to hide."
She listened to the questions, shook her head. "Tell her yes, tell her that--" Virgo paused, scooting a bit deeper into the bushes. Was that a spider on her shoulder? Oh god. There was a spider on her shoulder--"they met once upon a dream, fairytales!" She slapped at the spider, wiped off her glove on the snowy ground.
Oops. That was kind of dumb. Virgo would have cursed, had she known any good ones, and she held her breath. Like that would stop anyone from noticing her, right?

Mr. Velveteen flickered out of existence. It was like watching TV static fade. This was just an added effect by Pisces. Normally, they just 'pop' into nothing.
"I can't move and do this! You go, I'll distract them for as long as I can. I promise I'll catch up with you, okay?" Pisces gave Virgo's hand a squeeze before nudging her further into the bushes. Then, she curled into a ball in the foliage. Leaves were all around her, framing her frightened face.
"I guess I can't hide from you any longer!" A figure rose from the bushes and stepped out into her full splendor. A blue stola dripping in sapphires and blue diamonds was draped over the woman's thin figure. She smelled faintly of sea foam, and proceeded to walk onto the middle of the lake like it was nothing.
Yes, onto. Apparently that night was either a gathering of water elementals or messiah-wannabes.
"We've never met, I'm afraid. I'm a soldier of the water beneath my feet, a soldier like the many soldiers that defend this city from the darkness that has come to swallow it up. The darkness that you so serve, I'm afraid."

As the rabbit started to disintegrate, Wolframite’s interest faded with it. It was one thing if it was a massive, talking rabbit, but for it to just be a hologram was something he didn’t care for. It was a cheap trick, and he felt cheated out of something that could have been great. Frowning, he almost wanted to go around and look for whatever cameras or strobe lights caused the picture, but was instead waved to look around. Nodding, he glanced around and then turned, heading back up into the trees from where he came. It was a good thing that he was now paying attention and had already seen a trick of light, since the appearance of a new woman literally walking on water sort of lost it’s whole effect. Another image, which probably would flicker out. Still, the amazing detail caused him to keep her in his sights as he rose up higher and higher (and gripping tighter and together) to get a good look around.
Being winter, there were a few shrubs and then the barren trees. It didn’t leave much in the way of cover, and moving through the surrounding woods, he managed to catch a flash of a light green dress. Jumping back down, he started to race after her and called out. “Hey you!” If this was the person creating the light show, she owned him one talking rabbit!

Serandite did not like being toyed with. One could literally see her patience meter running out as she straightened her posture with an angry look. She punched a fist into a palm in a gesture to fight.
"I dont have time to be playing with stupid games!" Serandite's bunny grew huge, swiping at the "water" woman with a furious grunt. It was obvious that the "elemental" in front of her was no more real than the velventeen rabbit. She called out to the general area, her voice rising as she directed her words toward the hidden intruder.
"Why don't you just cut the nonsense and come out? Although we've never met, you've obviously been well-informed by someone who knows me." Serandite said, irate, irritation could be heard loud and clear in her tone. These games were quite annoying. Of course, they were annoying only after the rabbit had tricked her into a display of gullible naivete. That was the worst part.
"If you don't, Ill just have to look for you." The bunny's large paws imitated her action, swiping at any nearby object, the branches, the bushes .. nothing in a 10 meter radius was going to be left unturned.

Virgo hugged Pisces and reluctantly ran, staying low enough that it seemed like Serandite missed her. Now she just had to distract the two Negaverse officers, creating room for Pisces to get away!--
Hey you!
Darn, caught already? She stopped, turned, scowled at the... little boy?
"But you're just a kid," she said, surprised. "You can't even be out of middle school yet. I can't fight you." At least Serandite had had the advantage of being a little frightening with her monster bunny--
Something cracked. Virgo hoped Pisces was all right.
