Fullmoon_Sagashite123 Is anyone making chocolates? Or celebrating Valentines day Japanese style? You don't have to give chocolates to just your crush. Make your friends' day by sharing chocolates with them, or EVEN BETTER make chocolates for them. Just don't food poison them.

reinasama1 I think Enchanted Book is okay for Valentines, that is if you want to be Cinderella for Valentines. I made chocolates for myself for Valentines day last year. the first few bites tasted good, but afterwards they were the nastiest things ever. I've never tasted anything so sweet. Even the chocolate bar that I started out with wasn't as sweet. Blagh. gonk Haha. I want to try again this year.

xd I don't like it too much either... Valentines Day. That is, if I'm around some area where it's over-commercialized and tons of people are making out... I get grossed out. What I do like about it though is that I get an opportunity to make chocolates for myself and some other people who aren't afraid of getting food poisoned.
The idea of spending Valentines and Chinese New Year with family is kinda..... awkward. *shivers*

I think the day is just generally too commercialised anyway. If you want to set aside a day for yourself and a loved-one I think a non-holiday one is better....it's not "forced upon" you... It's not the 'social norm'.

Well it's on a Sunday, so I'll be catching up on college work, laundry, cleaning and exercise...Sunday is my only day off during the week sad

Aww... well, cleaning, exercise, and laundry aren't that boring - to me at least. They feel refreshing to me, especially cleaning. ninja
TRUST ME, your sunday will be better than mine. I'll be stuck in my grandma's house (with no cable, nor internet) with my intimidating cousins, for hours. We'll have nothing to talk about again. I'm going to bring my hwk, knitting, books, manga, dvd, and video games, anything that will keep me from being bored to death. Love my grandparents, but not so great with my cousins.
LOL. If I was your neighbour, I'd even GO to your house and help you with cleaning and laundry. It's even more fun doing other ppl's cleaning - to an extent, as long as it's not too dirty. blaugh

i've never really liked valentines day. last year, because of it, i didn't get a birthday (it isn't even on valentines day, but somehow, it overshadowed it)
things kinda change when you're in love. not doing much on that day. not even making chocolate (i didn't know that was an option. my grandma gets my little brother and whoever else wants to to decorate heart shaped cookies). guess i'm just doing boring adult stuff. i'll probably be hitting gaia up on that day also, just because i can. my husband don't care.

@ shizospazz: Aww.. come on. Life's what we make it. Making cookies isn't boring (at least not to me). Maybe your husband doesn't care because he feels Valentines is (like what Illyria said) a stressful day where you're forced/expected to be all loving. You can try making the day more relaxing, or do something adventurous. If it's still winter in your area, it's a perfect opportunity to go skating. Make the best of your day because 24 hours feels short.
@ Illyria: Yes! I didn't have to go to my grandma's house! Everyone in my house was really busy: cooking, 5 hours of driving classes, and music lessons. Lol. If I actually went, I would have came home with a brutal headache.
@ Everyone: To everyone who dislikes Valentines, let's do our best to make this day fun despite the pressure. We don't need to be dating to have fun. biggrin

Did everyone have a nice valentines day or new year? Mine wasn't particularly special but I tried to have fun... xd I went to a chinese mall to see special events, and shopping. They were describing the outcomes of the chinese zodiacs for this year. From what I can remember:
-Ox: Need to be careful of what you're eating, otherwise it's a good year.
-Snake: very good year
-Monkey: bad year, need to travel a lot this year, need to pay attention to health
-Pig: good year
-Horse: very good year, must not talk too much especially if you're in one of those professions that require lots of speaking (PR,lawyer.etc.)
