Wing beats could be heard from above, and a moment later any onlooker would see a dark mare land with the grace that came from practise. Neve was home again, and she looked around the clearing, seeing if any of her large brood were home.
It seemed for the time being that she was on her own again, not even Marius was around to greet her. Of course her children were all grown up, and having their own children so why would they be there? It was with a measure of pride and sadness that she reflected on that fact. There was the promise that she'd extracted from her youngest daughter to look forward to however. She'd asked of Marut not to forget about her old mother once she was a mother herself, and to bring the children by once they had emerged from their baskets.
Neve grazed after having looked about some more, her thoughts still on Marut. Had her grand-foals grown strong enough to leave their baskets she wondered? Not long after her daughter had given birth Neve had left the area, determined to track down a rumoured sighting of her other daughter.
The rumour had been true, she'd found her eldest daughter in the company of a lovely stallion, having survived an attack from Izusa. That was a score to be settled at some point, she didn't care if her mother was a half-crazed Kalona, she would track her down and hopefully beat enough sense into her so that she would leave her family alone. Neve's children, and her children's children should not have to pay just because Izusa felt she made a mistake in consorting with a winged..

(( I'm going to have to shorten Aod's name, I can't do that little thing over his 'a' lol ))
'Chatura? Aod? Nox?' Marut looked around for her children, wondering how all three had managed to slip out of sight on the very day she had decided to leave the Village and head back home. After the birth Marut had felt it best to stay and recuperate, and Ardia had promised to keep a weather eye on the new mother to satisfy Neve's worries about leaving so soon.
Now was time to leave though, she preferred the quieter surroundings of her own childhood home, and whilst the human-made shelter had been a perfectly safe place to give birth, it wasn't her home.
'Where are you?' she wondered if maybe Raniero had been by and they had gone off with their father. Not that she minded that at all, it was just inconvenient if they had done so today.
'Chat?' she called louder this time, each one seperately, listening as she walked down towards the bend in the river that was nearest the Village outskirts.
Chatura giggled, watching her mother look searching for herself and her siblings, trying not to let her movements rustle the thicket she was hiding in. Too late though...she saw Marut move this way and a moment later a head poked into her hiding place. The filly skipped out, tangled herself in her mother's legs and looking up at her. She knew that Marut couldn't stay too cross with her children, and she played on that a little so that she wouldn't get a scolding.
'There you are,' she said, leaning down and moving Chatura, giving her an affectionate nibble on the ear as she did so.
'Well that's one down, stay with me now, we'll be leaving once I locate your brother and sister..'

[[ Aod is fine with me, I actually really really like it. To the point where I too, will use it. ]] Aod, jealous of the affection that his mother was displaying towards Chat, quickly bound out from his hiding place. He loved his family and would protect them at all costs; especially his mother who sought love above all.
On days like this, Aod could think of nothing greater than spending time with his family, whom he adored. Between his two fun-loving sisters, he was without a care in the world... at least until their father came home. Then he felt a slight pressure to behave in more adult ways. This pressure was always alleviated with a simple nuzzle from their mother - a small sign that she loved them and knew what he must have been thinking. The only thing that Aod could have secretly desired above all, was a life that would truly make his parents, grandparents, and sisters truly proud of him.
'Momma!' Aod nuzzled into the safe haven, the shelter, the fortress, that was his mother.

Unsurprisingly, Equinox was distracted. It wasn't uncommon for the young filly to become absorbed in her research. She wasn't identical to her father in that respect, Chatura was certainly the more 'bookwormy' of the pair but she did have her moments. These moments were usually born of a desire to figure out how something or someone could be of use to her, nine out of ten times this 'use' was primarily so that she could defeat both siblings in some form of game. Whether it be tag, hide and seek or stuck in the mud she simply didn't care...she was the sort who didn't take defeat lightly! She had puckered her cheeks at the mere thought of a defeat and had promptly puffed out her chest, she may not have taken part in the hide and seek of this morning but this was mainly due to exhausting all her other hiding places.
...She had to find new ones!
Alas, when it became apparent that the games had come to a close from the sounds of the disturbances not far away. She was curious as to who had won but as she turned her head to gaze over her shoulder she did note the sound of her mother's voice. Curious. She had grown accustomed to this tiny little place, she'd been born here and knew no different but her mother had spoken of another 'home'. Admittedly even her young mind could recognise that her father had to keep disappearing off somewhere every now and again, perhaps 'home' was where he happened to be? Rarely disturbed in her games with her siblings the filly's curiosity was piqued as she picked her way none-too-delicately from the inside of a fallen tree trunk and shuffled off towards her mother. What she was greeted with was something she probably could have predicted. Both siblings were tangled up underneath Marut and looking equally as delighted - they always were a funny pair of siblings to have.
Swishing her tail from one side to the other, she pottered forward a little more and regarded both her moth and her siblings with curiosity. "Who won?" she enquired curiously, her query directed at her sister.

Marut gave a little laugh at the sudden show of affection from two of her foals, all she needed now was the third one, her other daughter to come up and do the same thing and she would be really suspicious of what they'd been up to!
'There you are Equinox.' Marut untangled herself from her children and bestowed an affectionate ear tug on the little filly.
'Now that you're all together, we're leaving. Time for us to travel to my home, and meet your relatives.'
She had remembered the promise made to her own mother, and was determined to keep it. However she was in two minds as to whether to stay there and visit Raniero often, or make her home with him permanently. She would have a quiet word with him as soon as she was able.
'Won?' Chatura echoed, looking at 'nox.
'Oh that, the game.' she answered herself, remembering what they had been up to before answering their mother's calls.
'I suppose no body?' she poked her tongue out and looked up at her mother.
'Who will we meet Mama?' she asked.
'Your grandmother for definate, maybe your Aunt..' she gave a last look around before turning on her hooves, walking towards where the river flowed, she planned to follow it for a while.
'Let's go then.' she called, waiting for them to join her.

"Grandmother... Aunt...?" Aod would be honest with himself, he was shy. He didn't enjoy meeting new people. However, this feeling was accompanied by another; the longing for a large family.
Aod realized all the fun that he had been having with his sisters. True, if the game had continued, 'Nox would have definitely won, there was no question about that. Aod dreamed of a larger family where tons of foals and adults could come together and experience love. He loved his sisters dearly, his mother, second to none.
"Well... I guess I'm ready." Aod bucked as the excitement of the family overpowered his nerves surrounding the new people. "I just hope they like me." He said with a nervous laugh in his voice. "Momma... tell us what your family is like?" Aod looked forward to learning about their past, their family tree, and where they came from. He hoped that he would meet his grandmother and she be as lovely as his mother.
Aod looked over at 'Nox. He devilishly knew that she would never turn down a game. "Race you to the edge of the river!"

Had Raniero known that Marut desired to live away from him after he had sired her children he would have seen red. Raniero rarely got angry but when he did it was most definitely not a pleasant sight. Alas, it was lucky that their father was absent today though the reason for such a thing hadn't been explained. Nox had come to appreciate very quickly that he was a busy soquili, flitting about here and there - suffice to say he didn't appreciate the meadows and the lowlands terribly much, but he doted on them all when he did flit in. Nox could only hope that in the future her father would be inclined to dote on them more often, his presence would be more frequent and they would be a proper family.
...Not that she didn't love her mother, but she wanted them both here.
Her lips pursed a little at the thought of meeting her family, she'd picked up on bits and pieces while eavesdropping on her mother but as of yet she didn't know the real identity of all her family. She'd heard of Grandma Neve and of course her auntie but she'd never seen them. Curiosity piqued, she was more than content to follow after her mother in order to satisfy this little niggle. Or rather she would have been satisfied to follow her mother had she not been issued with a challenge and sure enough, if there was one thing that Nox could never deny it was that.
"You won't win," Nox warned confidently and eyed her brother. "Unless you cheat of course," she conceded loftily.

Marut had already moved off, expecting her three children to follow, her long tail tangling in the grass behind her, and her mane would be puffed out the way as she turned around to see where they had gotten to already after making a few steps. Giving her head a small shake, she moved onwards, she would stop at the river, and wait for the victor of any new games to be announced, before heading off again, this time with no time wasting. They could play again when they reached her family home.
Chatura give a little head shake of her own, and trotted after Marut. Surely her brother Aod would learn that their sister 'Nox was as sporty as their own dear mother, and would not him to beat her at anything! For her own part, now that games were over (well she now deemed them to be so), she was anxious to meet her Grandmother, and see what part of the demon she showed - if any.
It was too much to be hoped that her Uncles would be there..she had heard tales of Vartan especially.
