Where is it? Alaina, not usually the one to be rattled, was feeling tense. Each step she took only reminded her more of the situation. Something was missing, her dreamcatcher she wore around her neck. She felt oddly naked without it's familiar weight... without it beating against her chest as she walked along the path.
It had been a gift from her parents when she was only a foal. She thought of her family, far behind her on the road now. Her dreamcatcher had served to link her to them. Without it... she was disconnected.
She quickened her pace, retracing her steps. Her eyes scanned to one side and then the other. No luck. It could be anywhere... in the middle of the trail, or already stuffed in some squirrel's nest.

Devicius frowned as he paused in the middle of a well-worn path, his nose raised to the breeze as it sifted through the needle-filled branches. The day was unusually quiet, and with that quietness came unusual boredom. Not many days passed where he was totally alone in the forest--with his charm, there was always a lady just waiting to run into him. But now... now it was quiet, and cool and dim and uneventful. It was... unbearable.
But wait! What was that smell? One that Devicius knew well, that was for sure. It was a mare, and she was heading right towards him. Her scent was disturbed, as if she was upset over something--all the more reason to play with her for a bit. He just loved when the emotions were mixed.
He stepped off to the side, being careful not to entangled his mane in any branches, and waited for the mare to appear. Sure enough, she came from the opposite direction of the trail, her pace panicked and stressful. She seemed to be looking for something: But what?
Devicius smirked, waiting for her to come close, and then stepped out onto the path, spreading his wings so that they covered any possible way around, and in a sense, to show off. The sly smile never left his face as he spoke, his velvety voice holding a slight accent.
"Why, hello there, young miss. May I be of some service to you? You seem... lost?"
