Naenia was perched up on a rock, her eyes looking out into the distance, fixed on nothing really. The winter was coming, and the wind was freezing as it blew off the snow in the mountains. It would be cold here soon, and food hard to find. Hearing a bird chirp, she flicked her ear, looking around with her icy blue eyes. This was her first winter with the warren. As a young female, she couldn't really remember much but being inside the burrow, unaware to the happenings of the outside. Even though she was young, she appeared to have an old soul, quiet and observing.
A sigh escaped her tiny bunny mouth as she looked at the landscape before her. Standing up, she stretched her legs out before hopping off the rock after spotting a nice piece of flayrah on the ground. Grabbing it up in her teeth, she munched a little and after being contented, she climbed back on the rock. The sun had warmed it a little since she got off of it, and upon laying down, she felt the heat rising through her body. Other rabbits in the warren always wondered why she took notice to such small things as this, but in a world so dangerous and cruel, finding small good things could at least make up for it a little.
Scratching her ear, she sighed. If only there were some other bunny here that felt the same way she did about the world. Or at least understood her. Smirking a little to herself, she murmured, "Heh, fat chance." Sighing, she looked around a little more, trying to find something at least a little interesting to look at. There were a few Owsla officers running about. Obviously something was up, but Naenia knew if she went over and asked, they'd be angry with her for being nosy.
So, while listening to the hard footsteps of the running Owsla, Naenia laid her head down on her paws, gazing out at the countryside. How did rabbits like the ones in her warren have the opportunity to find such a beautiful place? Of course she knew the story of Hazel-rah and his followers, Naenia knew all the stories of old, but still, what were the chances?

He was still a fairly young buck. This was his first winter, after all, and he was exuberant to experience it, although many of the older rabbits groaned at the mention of snow. Sure, he showed up a bit better. Sure it would be cold. Sure, there wouldn't be as much to eat...
But it would be interesting, wouldn't it? It was his first, after all.
The eager, young buck sat upon the Down, grooming his ears methodically as he observed the Owsla in the distance. His gaze was distracted by a flitting bird, overhead, then finally settled on a doe about his own age.
Ah, at last! Someone to converse with who won't chew his ears off... Hopefully.
He dropped to all fours, took a quick survey of his surroundings, and began to lope towards her at an easy, even pace.

Naenia's trance was broken by the sound of footsteps coming up behind her. They were rabbit's feet though, she knew well, and so she was not afraid. Turning, she bowed her head in greeting and stood. "Hello," she said, completely at a loss for words at the interesting color of the rabbit that had approached her.
Why hadn't she seen him before? He stood out enough. Having this air of light heartedness about him, she smiled. Maybe this buck was different. Naenia could usually tell these things before actually conferring with the rabbits around her. But, by Frith, not one quite like this. Sure, there weren't many bunnies of her age around. There were either old buns or the babies from autumn litters.
"I'm Naenia, and you are?" Finally, she'd found her words. Meeting new people was a little hard for her, but when she finally got over the awkwardness and fear of being judged, things ended up okay. The blue eyed doe only hoped that this buck would be a friend to her.

"Oh, 'ello there!" His words slipped from his maw almost hastily as he came nearer and stopped a few paces from her. A quick scan of their surroundings verified that all was clear and that no obvious predators lurked to steal them away from the warren.
"Patchouli, though you'c'n call me Patch, if you like. Naenia, that's a pretty name. Pretty name for a pretty doe, eh?" Already, he was stuffing a foot paw in his mouth, rambling awkwardly as he groomed his chest. No, of course he wasn't feeling a bit nervous, meeting this doe he did not already know.
Oh, yes, it was so dreadfully obvious.
"But really, a bit nippy out today. Snow's pretty, huh? Cold, but pretty. I like it, but it's a shame it lasts for so long. I could go for some fresh, summer cowslip to eat."

Scratching her ear again, she replied, "Thank you. Patch is a nice name. Nice name for a nice colored buck huh?" Giggling at her retort, she gazed around also, making sure the surroundings hadn't changed any and that they were still safe. Scratching her ear yet again, nervous habit, she was relieved at the fact that there was no danger. Lately, with the coming winter, the predators had been lurking more often, trying to find enough food to last them a bit longer through the winter. Sighing, she heard his question about the snow.
Gazing around, it was pretty, but freezing to death wasn't. How positive, right? Smiling, she decided to say, "From a distance, yes, it is beautiful." This buck was babbling. For some reason he was nervous. Was there something going on? Tilting her head to the side, she asked, "Are you okay?"
