The sun that danced idly though the branches, dappled across Basil's back. Giving his pelt the appearance of an odd colored Appaloosa. Undaunted by the light, he continued to slowly move further into the woods. His body relaxed and his mind clear. Pausing for a moment, Basil took a deep breath of the crisp cool air. Enjoying the coolness as if flooded his lungs.
Shaking his head to and fro, Basil continued forward. He was headed no where in particular. Only enjoying the afternoon sun before the cold night took over once more.
The path he walked was laid out before him; a dusty dirt road of sorts with all kinds of hoofmarks already embedded deep into it, telling secrets of its past travelers. Basil smiled. He liked those secrets. It made him feel...not so alone.
Basil's ears swiveling forwards as something caught his ear.
Hoofbeats.
Another Soquili? His head bobbed up, tail flicking, legs ceasing to move as he stopped dead in the middle of the trail.

The light dappled across her light colored fur, causing her to look even paler. Since she was still, Jaloo looked like any other quiet, mild mannered mare. Her braided main and tail floating in the late winter/early spring wind. It was chilly, sure, but she cared not. Her hooves and legs were covered in dust and mud, her underbelly splashed as well, as if she'd just been running through the puddles from the recent rains. Well, that's exactly what she'd been doing. Now she was taking a breather.
Her breath came in heavy pants, the wispy white of the warm air meeting cold was visible a good distance away. Flicking her tail, those clear blue eyes focused on a tree. Or so it seemed. "So, so what? I'm still a rock star!" Her voice rang out clear. It was a good voice, her singing one; raspy sounding and low, but not freakishly so.
Jaloo moved her hooves in time with her humming, dancing and frolicking around the clearing in the forest. She'd wandered a good way away from her river home. Ah, well.

Shaking his head, Basil peered off into the distance, lost in his own thoughts. His mind deeming the original hoof beats as a trick of the wind. With a flick of his tail, he began to move forward once more.
That is until the sound of Jarloo's voice cut through his thoughts. He paused once more as well, though unlike the first time he was not as relaxed. Ruffling his wings, Basil twitched his tail and flicked his ears. Debating wither or not he should take to the sky.
Deciding against it, Basil continued to move forward, towards the mysterious voice. His own curousity overriding any other instinct. Turning around a slight bend, Basil was rewarded with the sight of the soquili that the voice had belonged to.
He paused once more before letting out his own cheerful greeting. "Good afternoon Madame"

A voice cut through her words and made her pause and trip in mid dance step, falling ungracefully into the mud, further dirtying up her coat. Whatever. She'd wash it off later. Those blue eyes glanced over at the winged male and blinked. Wait. When'd he get there? He'd heard her sing and not say anything about it? Funny, most others told her to either keep going or shut her worbbling up. Studying the gray male Jaloo's head canted to the side as she got to her hooves again.
"Scared the HELL outta me," she muttered to him, shaking herself to fling access mud off. Then she stepped closer and gave him a devlish grin. "Hello to you, too," she offered, her own voice attempting to match his cheerful tone. It wasn't too hard. If she wasn't sarcastic, she was cheerful. "Didn't see you or hear you come up. Who're you?"

Basil's eyes sparkled as he peered into her blue eyes. "I apologize for the fight madame , I am known as Basil" He gave a slight bow. Always the gentlemen. Straightening up, Basil gave his wings a slight ruffle. "So madame what brings you this way?"
He was curious as to what a beautiful female such as herself was doing all alone. Shifting his weight, Basil allowed his muscles to finally relax. As he waited for her reply, he took in her form once more.
Noting the way her pelt shone in the sunlight and the way the colors blended together. She really was an exquisite looking mare.

An exquisite mare with mud on her legs and underbelly. Surely she could be a bit better looking, but whatever. She wasn't really worried about her looks; at least her main was clean, showing off the bright blue and pretty purple of the hair there. His own mane was intriguing to her.
"What brings me here? I'm bored, and my two brothers went elsewhere, and I don't want to be near my parents right now. So I come here. I sing and ....well.... dance? I rock out and get muddy. Sometimes my friend, Thunder, is here and we go do things together like play in the mud. But he wasn't here today." She clicked her tongue at that and huffed. Stupid Thunder. He was probably off flirting with some random female, or spending time with his sisters. It was odd how their families were almost compete opposites. "So, Basil? That's a... good name, I suppose."
Moving closer, Jaloo examined the things around his neck. The wings didn't bother her, none. One of her brothers had them, and her mother did, as well. They weren't anything special. But that thing about his neck, now that was pretty. "What brings you here? Want to get muddy, too?"

Basil bobbed his head up and down as she spoke. However at words of playing in the mud, basil cocked his head to the left. Play in the mud? He had never done that before.
As she turned her attention onto his name, Basil grinned. " Yes mother picked my name well" Here he ruffled his wings once more. " Nothing exciting, I assure you. I am merely out enjoying the afternoon sun." Here Basil paused, peering about them before bending his head closer to hers. "How does one play in the mud?" His voice dropping to a stage whisper. As if it was some great secret.

She quirked a brow at him as he spoke and then flat out laughed. He didn't know how to play in the mud? With a grin upon her face, Jaloo motioned him to follow with a quick movement of her head. "C'mon. I'll show you." Her muddy tail would flick behind her, getting him muddy, prehaps, and she hummed as she moved towards one side of the clearing.
There was a giant mud puddle, and she turned to Basil. "Well, Bas. It's like this; you run through it to the middle, and jump around. Or something." To demonstrate, she ran into the puddle and laughed as the cold mud splashed on her. When she stood in the middle, she looked at him with challenge in her eyes and then kicked mud at him with one of her legs. "C'mon. We can play together!"

With another ruffle of his wings, Basil began to follow Jarloo. As he walked after her, Basil pondered just what had made her laugh. Was there something wrong with the way he spoke? Shaking his head, to rid himself of those thoughts, Basil stopped just at the edge of the mud puddle.
His amber eyes filled with the amusement that he felt at her actions as she leapt into the mud.
However his amusement rapidly turned to shock as a splash of mud caught him roughly in the chest. At her words, he eyed the mud suspiciously.
Turning away from the mud and Jarloo, Basil made as if to walk off. However after retreating just to the inside edge of the surrounding forest, Basil spun around once more. If he was going to do this, he would do it right!
With a mischievous grin at Jarloo, Basil broke into a gallop towards the mud puddle. Once reaching the edge, he launched himself into the air. His frame aimed directly for the patch of mud next to Jarloo, he only hoped that he hit it just right. Hoping to create a large splash of mud.

And hit it just right he did. With a yell and a jolt, the mare looked over at him, after scooting back some for his wing span, and then snorted. "You've done this before?" Jaloo's face and mane were dripping with mud, down her chin and neck, down her chest and legs. She would definately have to take a bath before she went to her home. Walking out of the puddle, she shook herself off and looked back at Basil.
Now, she'd get him back, she really would. Talking a ways away, she turned around suddenly and grinned. "Just you wait!" She ran at full speed and jumped in the puddle before sliding past him, the mud making it so much easier. However, she did tumble and fell on her side in the mud, causing her another yell and a laugh to escape her. "Oh, God!" Getting up was difficult for her, laughing and slipping almost every time. But she did hope she got Basil.

Basil's eyes widened slightly, at what she was about to do. As Jarloo leapt towards him, basil squeezed his eyes shut. to avoid an eyeful of mud at the least. At the sound of Jarloo's frame hitting the mud, Basil opened his eyes once again.
A grin spreading across his features like wildfire. Though Basil did not laugh. For it was not polite to laugh at one's misfortune. No matter how much one wish to.
Carefully moving towards her, Basil craned his head down towards Jarloo's.
"Having fun m'dear?"
His voice laced with the amusement he felt.

She looked up at him and laughed again, pure joy on her face as he stepped closer. "Hell, yeah! I'm having lots of fun!" She finally managed to get herself up and stuck her tongue out at him. Eeew! It tasted like mud! Wrinkling her nose at that, she snorted mud out her nostrils and flicked mud off her ears.
"Ok, you try something now." She said, moving to butt heads with him, wanting him to get even more dirty than he was. He was to clean and very nice. What more could Jaloo want than to get a proper gentleman dirty and have a bit of fun? "C'mon, c'mon! Bas, do some kind of trick. Then I can take us to the river to wash the mud off."

Basil smiled. Glad that she was having fun. Hmmm she wanted a trick? Basil's grin grew wider as a thought came to him. Moving out of the mud, basil stretched his wings out wide before tucking them as close to his body as possible. he did not want them to get damaged.
Taking a few strides away from the edge of the mud, Basil peered at it's surface. His eyes blazing in concentration. Pulling his gaze away from the surface, he flashed Jarloo a grin before leaping forward. Angling his frame downward, basil used his momentum to execute a crude sumer-salt like motion. Which poorly executed, it did have the desired effect of coating Basil in mud.
Coming out of the roll, Basil shook his head to dispel the slight dizzy sensation the move created. Remaining in the mud, basil looked up at jarloo with another grin. His now mud filled mane obscuring his eyes, mud slowly dripping from it to splatter on the bridge of his muzzle.
"How was that?"

The laugh that escaped from her was full of joy and delite, and the grin on her face made her look not as innocent as she acted. Oh, to see a proper gentleman getting down and dirty; that's what made this day epic. Finally, when the laughter subsided and she was panting for air, the mare managed to stand up and then moved to brush off the mud on his muzzle with her own.
"Well now! Not exactly what I expected! I thought you'd say no or something." She grinned again and jerked her head to the side. "C'mon. Let's go get cleaned up." With that, she led him towards the river.

Basil returned Jarloo's grin. At her touch, a faint blush creeped across Basil's muzzle. "Well I'm glad I have your approval" His voice was no more then a whisper, due to their close nature at the moment.
As Jarloo moved away from him, Basil couldn't help but smile as he watched her. Shaking himself from his daze, Basil followed after her.
