A new trainee.. Huh. It had sounded interesting when Serandite had been assigned to do it. Apparently, everyone else was busy or training other trainees in the negaverse. It wasn't like the great General-King or the esteemed Queen could do the task. They had far too much else to do. Everyone else.. Well, they didn't hae time to spare on their hands.

Unlike Serandite.

Recalling that everyone else was busy, it made Serandite terribly nostalgic. She wished she could see some of her other negaverse comrades. She hadn't seen them in quite awhile. Not since Christmas. And that had been a long time ago. This newbie better be worth her time to train or he was going to thoroughly become acquainted with Serandite's heel. (Unless he was taller than her, then that might not be an option.) If not, her bunny then.

She was waiting at the park for the negaverse to meet her, perched delicately on top of the swing set. No, not on the swings. At the very top. Her ribbon hung from her perch, armed with a lollipop to occupy her time waiting. Serandite wasn't quite sure if she was "qualified" to train another of the negaverse but hey, at least she knew the ropes. At the very least, she knew what a starseed was now. That had to be step three in the manual or something.

It was his first time meeting anyone else from the Negaverse other than that fateful day he had been ‘recruited’. In that time, he had done nothing worth mentioning, which he couldn’t really be blamed for. A few patrols, all of which were usually just walking around in the dark in his uniform, were the large extent of what he managed to accomplish. There had been no sign of senshi, his own team, or anything that might give him some clues as to what in heaven’s name a star seed was! He spent the better part of a week in the park just looking for odd-looking foliage and came up empty-handed. Without any direction, his sense of purpose and excitement died down to feeling bored and frustrated. Frustrated that he hadn’t been given a better introduction to the duties and responsibilities of being a lieutenant, a job he really wasn’t finding all that great. Not even a freakin beginner’s manual to this whole situation?! Even a pamphlet would have been nice!

All his patrolling only gave him time to come up with questions that couldn’t be answers and plenty of doubt. He was started to wonder, even fear, he would never seen any sign of the Negaverse again. That he’d been forgotten and that everyone else was actually doing bigger things without him. It came as a great relief when he was notified that he would be getting trained by another lieutenant, renewing his spirits and letting him breathe. They hadn’t forgotten after all.

When the night came, he sneaked out of his house and changed in an alleyway near the park. Checking the way for any sign of life, he slipped inside and went to the playground where they were supposed to meet. His entrance was normal of any human being. He walked to the swing set – like any normal person - and looked up – like any normal person - to freak out – like any normal person. SHE WAS STANDING ON THE SWING SET!

He stood there with his mouth open and looking up. While he had never seen another lieutenant, there was no doubt this girl was it. Of course the first thing that came to mind before he could even think of introductions was – “HOW DID YOU GET UP THERE?!”

Ouch. It sounded as if the newest lieutenant had arrived. And he had a loud voicebox accompanying him. She winced at the sudden question, eyebrows furrowing. With her hands over her ears, she looked down at him with a irate glance.

"There's no need to yell, you idiot. You want to get caught?"

With a practiced backflip towards the ground (she wanted to look cool, okay) and landed in front of the lieutenant with ease. She came to two conclusions. The first was his cute looks. At this, she finally reached the conclusion that so much of their allies reached about her. They recruited kids now? Gosh, he was young. Did she really look similar to that?

The second conclusion. His height. Oh-- Oh. he wasn't that much bigger than her. How rare. In fact, Serandite was happy to see that she wasn't the only short soldier in the negaverse.

She leaned in close, eyes assessing his expression and clothes. This was certainly the lieutenant. For once, she had the upper hand. And she loved it.

"I suppose you haven't learned negaverse skill number two. I'll go over that later. The first one would be discretion, by the way. Which you're already lacking." She informed him helpfully but snobbishly, flicking her side pony-tail to the side, her head shook side-to-side. She frowned, her hand suddenly reaching out to arrange a ribbon in place. Although she had to question why a MALE had so much ribbons of all things.

His surprised outburst was awarded with a harsh reminder that he had defeated the purpose of sneaking into the park by yelling, and he clamped his lips shut, which was hard when he wanted to gap up at the girl. It was baffling as to how she managed to get up there. Even swinging high enough to fall to the top wouldn’t have made her reach it that neatly, or climbing the sides. This was answered when she flipped in the air and landed in front of him, causing him to step back. Now that, he had to admit, was amazing, but he had to make sure to keep himself from yelling that.

They just met and he already failed at making a good first impression. Standing at attention, he tried to counter with a look of professionalism, something he was already failing just with his uniform alone. Then again, in current company, he could see that he wasn’t that bad off. The girl was dressed in a short kimono – a really short kimono – a really, really, would make a old woman blush, kimono - with vibrant pink and orange flowers. Still, the uniform was something that, while racy, still suited a girl. His on the other hand….well.

“Oh, sorry.” He apologized, having in that moment forgotten himself and what trouble he could be in if he was caught in this uniform. There was enough warnings on the news about people like him. People like me. I sound like a criminal.

When she neared him, he froze and watched her peering him up and down. She’s just sizing you up. Stay still. Then she fixed his ribbon! The action has the imagery of a wife fixing a tie, and he stepped back out of her reach and started to adjust it himself, frowning a she did so. “I can do that.” He said, guessing that a property, well-maintained uniform was also part of something he had to learn (like the military, he guessed). He didn’t even know it was skewed.

Fussing over it, he stepped back to face her. He had been practicing what he would say to her, but upon seeing the girl, he was really surprised. She looked around his age, if not a bit taller. Maybe a lot of lieutenants were around his age?

“I’m Lieutenant Wolframite…” he finally introduced, standing straight. “… Thanks for training me.” He started to hold out his hand for a handshake, but guessing this was the military after all, saluted.

She shook her head, bringing his hand down. "We're not formal in the negaverse. Unless you meet the big bad General-King himself or the Queen. And then you might want to be on your best behavior. But I digress." She arranged her ribbon and her straps, getting prepared for a chore she had never done before. Teach.

She pointed at herself with obvious pride, delivering an introduction and thread in one sentence. "The name's Lieutenant Serandite. I'm a cute girl who can't stand messy attires but you've got points for such a great uniform. If you mention one nasty word on my weapon, you're going to end up with a sore foot for the rest of the night." She warned him, her tone flippant but her meaning was serious.

"So. Wolframite. We're going to start on the basics. Climb up that tree, would you?" She pointed to a short tree, to the lowest branch. Apparently, the lieutenant wasn't aware of his jumping capabilities and couldn't exactly jump up there at the moment. As Serandite would soon explain, the jumping capabilities of the negaverse and senshi was a wonderful wonderful thing.

A free hand went up in defense. “I won’t say a word.” In fact, he didn’t even see her weapon. From this angle, all he saw was a girl in a printed uniform with , and this caused him to pause and examine, a bunny. The girl certainly wasn’t lying about this not being a military unit or else someone might have pulled her aside to tell her that plush animals were not part of the picture. While he wasn’t against it, there were a number of cotton-filled friends back in his room that showed he was a supporter, he was no where near brave enough to go carrying one of them around. For a girl, it was at least not surprising, but if he went around carrying a stuffed rabbit, he’d get pummeled. He was already pushing it with the bows.

But she mentioned a weapon, and looking up and down, he began to focus more and more on the bunny, and the more he blinked and concentrated, the more his brain started to suggest something. Was that her weapon? Lifting his other hand, the air started to distort until he gripped and a rope materialized into his hand. It wasn't a newer jump rope, in fact, but a old-fashioned one. He showed her what was deemed as his weapon. “Guess we all get the short end of the stick around here.” He could have really gone for something more lethal. A butter knife would have been handier. Seeing no reason to have it out, he let it vanish again, very entertained by the little trick that if they should train with their weapons, he would be more than happy to make it reappear. It was the little things he was enjoying about the Negaverse. Instant clothing and instant weapons.

At the new command, Wolframite turned his head to the tree and frowned. He hadn’t climbed a tree since he was in elementary school, and even then he wasn’t tall enough to gain any real skill in it. That and he naturally feared heights. Still, a low branch was nothing he should be complaining about. This was training after all.

“Alright.” It might have been hoping too much to ask her not to laugh, and so with as much dignity he could muster, he reached up and grabbed the branch. Upper body strength was not something he worked on, but he managed to heave himself up, pushing against the tree, and sit up on the branch. It was graceless and made him look ridiculous, but at least he was there.

“Now what?” He hoped they wouldn’t be climbing trees all day or else he’d be really disappointed.

Jump rope. He was right with the short end of the stick. When she thought back on other negaverser's weapons-- actually, she couldn't recall any of their weapons. Except Linarite with her hammer. But as for the rest of the negaverse, Serandite wasn't entirely sure. No better than their's, she hoped. After all, neither a bunny nor a jump rope was entirely lethal. Not at first glance anyways.

She called from below. "First lesson. Crazy jumping 101." With one expert push of her heel on the ground, she leaped next to Wolframite, crossing the distance in less than a second. She stood beside him on the branch, her weapon disappearing from view, freeing her hands at the moment. "This is going to the one of the top benefits of being a negaverser. Minus the whole evil image and all." The "this" in her sentence wasn't clear until a few moments later. Proceeding in teaching him this handy fact, she promptly pushed the other lieutenant off the branch.

Oh. This was quite fun indeed. It wasn't often that you could-- you know, push people off a tree.

"It's like a power ranger jumping off a building. There's no impact whatsoever and you can jump back up!" Her eyes shone as she said this, leaping back down to join Wolframite.

There were certain things that made him hate you, and pushing him out of a tree was one of them. The moment he felt a hand at his back, he was about to yell, but was shoved off. On the short descent, he could only think of what a royal b***h Serendite was, and how he hoped someone would shove her a** out of a tree. That was until he hit the ground, not with the way he expected (face hitting first and the rest tumbling after), but with the same ease and –yes ever grace! – of an expert stunt devil. He landed softly, crouching down and his hand touching the ground for balance.

Wolf stared at the ground, let the fingers that were touching the hard grass tell him that it was still real, still solid, and no one had cleverly disguised a mattress for him to land on. Even if it was a short branch, he knew he should have either been on his face or his a** by now, and he stood up slowly as Serendite jumped down before him.

“You mean I can just land like it’s no problem and just….jump around?” He really wanted to get this clear. He could do just what she was doing now, landing as easily as she was, and even go so far as, maybe even with practice, flips. He couldn’t do so much as a cartwheel as a human and now he could leap like a hyper superhero?!

A slender grin was trying to break free, but he was wary. Even though he landed easily, FAR too easily, he couldn’t see it. Life had told him he was pretty much grounded and jumping for him was inches, not feet.

“You mean I can do this – right now? Just jump?” She had to be shitting him! His eyes went up to the tree branch she just leap on.

Serandite had no doubt that Wolframite thought of her in a negative light as she pushed him off. After all, who wouldn't have? She nodded as he asked his question, giving him a thumbs up. One might have noticed one tiny little fact about Serandite's outfit. While she did have an extremely racy and short kimono skirt, it seemed just enough to cover her-- well, to put it in blunt words, her underwear. Conveniently, it seemed as if senshi and other negaverse agents, no matter how ridiculously short, didn't reveal theirs either. (Most of them, okay.) How this worked, it worked in mysterious ways.

"Yep! Just jump. It's the handiest ability you're going to have. Play with it later when you have time. I tried that for weeks before I got the flip with the jump right." She dismissed the topic with a wave of her hand. After all, having that ability was probably taken for granted by now for negaverse agents that had the ability for awhile.

"Next lesson. I'm not good with the whole teaching thing so bear with me for a bit. You were told by the upper agents that you had to get starseeds right?" Serandite could image the line, given by the General-King without any other information and said with such expectancy, it was hard to question how to get the said starseeds.

Luckily, Wolframite didn’t have to worry about any such undergarments showing, but he was VERY thankful he would be seeing more of his teacher than he needed to. That and one would have to wonder that, with the way the Negaverse just magically gave you clothes, WHAT sort of underwear it would give you. Personally, Wolframite wasn’t gong to poke around his own clothes to find out. The thought of bows being anywhere else on his person would have really upset him.

As much as he wanted to test jumping about, he decided to save it for later, and instead looked back to Serandite as she started their next lesson. He kept a running list. 1.) Be discrete. 2.) Jumping! 3.) Starseeds. The last was the most important to him, as he had no idea what a starseed was but had been spending a long time looking and theorizing where one would be.

“Yeah, I was told that, but I haven’t spotted any. I wasn’t even given a hint of what it looks like.” The idea of having a task and not any instruction seemed ridiculous to him. It was one thing to be mean, no one was going to hold his hand after all, but to not be informed was just a major loophole in the whole commanding-someone-to-do-something business. “Did you get any better information than I did when you first started out, or is this just how things are?” Was it just a personal thing against him, or did everyone start off not knowing what they were doing? If so, he wanted to suggest maybe a Negaverse Orientation Program of some sort.

"Pft. As if the General-King would actually explain anything?" Serandite scoffed, shaking her head furiously. In her three experiences with the man, her entry into the negaverse, at Tisiphone's apartment and at the meeting.. Well, Serandite had noticed that the man wasn't in the position of elaborating.

"Try this sometime. Not on me, okay. When you run into a civilian.. " She trailed off, drawing a stick figure in the dirt, intending on giving the lesson in a drawing to explain it in a better format. It was a waist-up stick figure, her stick circling their chest area. She rested her weight on her upturned ankled, one hand resting on her knee, kneeling down to draw the image.

"See, you dive your hand into here. Don't ask me how because that's still mysterious to me. If you have problems with touching a girl's chest, you're going to have to get over that." She drew an arrow away from the chest. A diamond shaped drawing was at the end of the arrow, with little lines surrounding it, similar to a sun drawn by a kindergarten student.

"This is what a starseed looks like. They're reeeeaaaaalllly shiny and glow really brightly. You collect those and give it to the negaverse." She made a yanking motion. "You just pull it out and hide their bodies for awhile. It'd be too much trouble to leave it there and have the police find it. That would cause a commotion." She didn't tell him that starseeds were the essence of their lives, assuming that the other had known that much at least.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:16 pm

As she drew the figure, he kneeled down with her, watching her draw lines that were universally know as a person. There had been a few times he had imagined doing something similar to this, huddled around a patch of dirt while being instructed, though he didn’t imagine it quite like this, looking as if they were going to play hangman rather than being taught how to take starseeds. Speaking of, he never even thought they were in people. No wonder he didn’t see them. Quick to fill in the blanks, he knew, or thought he knew, what was it he was suppose to do. He was collecting some sort of energy. It would explain why they would have to hide bodies, because after that, they’d pass out. Then he’d hide them and they could skip on their way to the next person. Seemed simple enough, aside from the chest-grabbing situation. That was the part he was held up at.

“We just reach into someone’s chest and yank it out? What if I…what if it doesn’t happen?” What if he grabbed something else instead? That and there was the question of how to get them without anyone noticing? “I’m guessing we just find ways to get close enough to a person to do that, right?” That would be hard. He wasn’t exactly the same height as everyone else, which meant he had to reach up most of the time. That and a lot of people were bigger than he was. It seemed the jumping lesson would come in handy, as it would give him a way to quickly escape after he was done.

Time for a review. “Okay, let me get this straight.” The lieutenant rose up to stand, starting to count down on one hand. “I stay quite. That way the cops don’t find me. I can jump around, which is something I should practice on, aannnddd I go around taking starseeds out of people to give them to the Negaverse. Is that it?” It really made a easy chechlist.

"You mean, if you grab their chest instead? Well, tough luck. You'll get the hang of starseed grabbing eventually." Serandite personally would have loved to see Wolframite you know-- miss. That would have been a hilarious sight to see.

She nodded as he counted down, shaking her head as he ended the list. "Nope, there are two more things you should be warned of." She drew bullets aimed at the stick figure, leaving an unconscious expression on the previously smiling face.

"Fourth, we get hit by bullets, we die. Being a senshi or a negaverse agent, we don't get invincibility. You get caught by a cop, run as fast as you can." She erased the image with her pink heel, drawing the next stick figure with.. long hair .. and an angry face that looked strangely cute.

"The latest negaverse meeting stated, see anyone with a white knight-armor, you run." Serandite felt the need to emphasize this point. Emphasize it greatly. "Get caught by anyone in white armor with a sword, if it's a black-haired girl, you run. You don't get near her, you take off as soon as you see her." Serandite spoke so vehemently, it implied that she had a previous run-in with the person before. "Understand me? Run because your life depends on it."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 03, 2010 8:53 pm

The idea of getting shot at was not something he even thought about trying out, but at least it was nice to know. It was a good thing he wasn’t the type to jump in front of bullets for fun, but the idea of bullets in general put things into perspective. Cops were out there and if they saw him, they’d shoot. At least that’s what the dead stick figure was telling him. No wonder Serandite didn’t want him to yell. If he called any cops to them, they could have both been targeted. Destiny city was a big town, which meant he felt he could avoid a lot of places the police might go.

As for the last warning, he was curious as to why a white knight would be after them, but with cops shooting at them, there was bound to be a couple people that hated them. The angry figure really didn’t leave anything to the imagination, but a knight with a sword really sparked his interest in fantasy. It felt like a mistake that the white knight should be against them, but looked at them both, dressing up in black pretty much meant they were the opposing side. A white knight…who was a girl? That was even more interesting, and he almost wanted to see this sword-wielding girl. That was until Serandite looked at him and stressed the word ‘run’.

“Okay. If I see the girl knight, I run for my life.” Running seemed like a stupid thing to do. He was in the Negaverse now because he didn’t want to run anymore. Still, she was his teacher and they had a meeting about this. A meeting he wish he was involved in.

Be Quite. Try Jumping. Find Starseeds in people. Avoid bullets, the cops and the girl knight. For just one night, he had learned a lot. More than he had on his own, and he smiled back at her.

“You’re a pretty good teacher after all.”

"Why, thank you!" She smiled, her hands slapped together excitedly in a girlish fashion. After all, flattery was a way to a girl's heart. She looked at the large clock tower, her mouth forming a small "o." She seemed to remember something, a hasty expression crossing her face.

She sighed before speaking, as if exhausted with a different topic. "I better get going now. My roommate will be waking up shortly and if she catches me with a guy, all her suspicions of a secret boyfriend will be confirmed. And that would be a pain, considering the negaverse is not my love life." She said, even though her words indicated it would be bothersome, her tone was amused.

Some people might consider the negaverse as their love life. It could be.. in some ways, if one thought about it.

"Well, I'll be off now. Next training session is a few days from now, okay? Same place, same time." She confirmed with the other, straightening her skirt and ribbon before waving at Wolframite, a smile crossing her face.

The negaverse had promising lieutenants. Or at least, they appeared to be so. Even if they were on the young side. With this thought, she left, leaping away into the night.
