Qiuyue shivered as she pulled a sweater over her head and walked through the forest. The trees were white and glistening with snow, and as a wind picked up, it blew sheets of snow off of the tree branches, making it sparkle in the warm sun. But no matter how warm the sun got, the snow would always make the day cold. Yue folded her arms and tucked her hands by her sides to keep them warm, and she walked alone through the woods, hooves crunching the hardened snow beneath them.
"Mm.. On' o' thes' days, I got'a fin' a place 'f m' own... I c'n't keep liv'n' w'th Jack f'ev'r. I w'nder 'f Lill c'n help me f'nd a place f'r me t' live on m' own. I'll ask 'er when I g't back..." Qiuyue talked aloud to herself to break the almost eerie silence of the forest. She usually hated talking aloud due to her speech impediment making it difficult for her to speak, but she was all alone in this quiet forest. Who could be around to hear her talk?

The chill in the air made Lyndon shiver. He delicately walked through the beautiful snow. He hoisted his net over his shoulder. It was weighed down and soaking wet from fresh fish from this mornings catch. "Nothin' like getting up early and making a great catch~" he smiled and sighed with satisfaction. He hadn't planned on being do this early so he had a lot of free time on his hands.
Wondering aimlessly, he was snapped out of his daydream with something that broke the silence. Someone had been talking to themselves and they were close by. He sat down his net and peered into the bushes to see a taur, but this taur looked familiar. "Haven't I met her somewhere?" Lyndon kept himself hidden as he watched her move in silence.

Qiuyue stopped to catch her breath in the cool forest. The chilly air was making it hard for her to breathe, and she took slow, long inhales and slow, long exhales to get her energy back. While she was walking, she kept talking to herself to break the silence, and the centauress had forgotten how quickly she could become exhausted from simply talking. With this logic on her mind, Yue had stopped talking. She found a large rock that had little of the frozen snow caked onto it and clambered onto it to take a breather. She smiled in the peaceful quiet and closed her eyes for just a moment when she heard a sound nearby. Her eyes snapped open.
Qiuyue's eyes narrowed to slits as she concentrated on the sound. It happened once more. Being careful not to make too much noise, she slowly bent down and grabbed a good size chunk of rock from the boulder she was sitting on. She inhaled deeply, and exhaled, trying to remember exactly where the strange sound came from. The sound did not come again. Yue bit her lip. If there was a stranger nearby, they could be trying to rob her or kidnap her or... or... Jackie's words resonated in Yue's head. Without thinking, she gave a small shout and turned around quickly where she judged the source of the sound was and threw the rock. In her blur of motion, she couldn't see who the stranger was. Now that her head stopped spinning, she saw a red and brown male cervitaur in the bushes. His pelt stood out like a sore thumb against the white snow and brown earth, but Yue stopped. He looked somewhat familiar to her...

"Ouch! That kinda hurt ya know." Lyndon rubbed his sore backside where the rock had struck. He slowly stood from his snowy perch, dusting the cold, glitter snow off of himself. "You've got quiet and arm! Ever thrown a fishing spear?" he chuckled as he tried to make small talk. He stood a little awkward, fidgeting in the bush. He was very embarrassed that he was noticed so suddenly, obvious that it had been because of his rich fall color. Winter wasn't his season.
He began to make his toward her slowly, as not to scare her off or make her think that he was some kind of pervert. That's the last thing I need after spying on her! He mentally slapped himself for that stupid move. He couldn't help himself. She had looked oddly familiar to him, like he had met her somewhere. But where? "I'm sorry for spying on you," he gave a weak smile, "But have we met?"

Qiuyue made a sound from the back of her throat that sounded somewhat like a growl. "Good. It shou'da hur'." She ungracefully scampered off of the boulder and stood in the snow, tail twitching angrily. Who was this bozo? And why was he spying on her?! Unknowingly, a faint blush came to Yue's cheeks, but she turned pale at her next thought: what if this stranger was a pervert?! Yue lowered her dark blue eyes and stepped back to pick up another rock. "T'anks. An' no, I don' l'ke fish." Her arm was raised in preparation to throw when something held her hand back. Now that she had a clear view of the cervitaur, she could recognize him.
Qiuyue searched her mind for a name to place with that male, but she found none. But now that she had a good look at him, he did look kind of handsome... Ack! Yue stumbled back a little as she realized what she had just thought. Stupid! How could you think that that stranger would be handsome?! He was stalking you! Don't trust him! Yue sighed as she dropped the rock. "'M star'in' t' sound l'ke Jackie," she muttered to herself. Eyes lowered once more, she looked to the stranger. He... apologized? "Mm.. Yoo're f'rgi'v'n. Bu' I don' t'ink tha' we've ev'r met."

Lyndon shrunk back at her growl. She didn't seem to pleased with his spying, but who would be? She had picked up a rock threateningly, had she misunderstood his intention? He was surely not going to do any harm to her!... Or be a pervert... Which the blush on her cheeks suggested. When she dropped the rock, he was put at a ease. Well, only slightly so. The tension fogged the chilly air of winter.
With the centaur calmed down, he was able to notice more things about her. Like how her hair swayed in the breeze, how her tattoos decorated her arms gracefully... What am I thinking? She thinks I'm a pervert or something... He shook off a light blush, but couldn't help but to think again. He was draw to the way she talked. Had something happened? Or has she always talked like this? A thought ran through his head. "Flowers..." he mumbled out loud. Something about her and the way she spoke reminded him of flowers. But why?
Lyndon cleared his throat and nervously scratched his head, "How can you not like fish? They're delicious!" He coughed, a little embarrassed at this outburst. He soon decided to change the subject. "Are you sure we haven't met? I'm Lyndon, does that name ring any bells?" He tapped his chin in deep thought. Maybe he had just imagined that he had seen her before.

A chilly wind blew across the trees, and inward Qiuyue shivered. But on the outside, she made no motion to indicate weakness. The last thing she wanted was to make this cerivtaur think that she was weak. He might try to overpower her and do something mean to her or... Yue shut her mind from those thoughts. She shouldn't be so quick to accuse this stranger, if he was a stranger, of anything. He looked harmless, if not maybe a bit cocky. Yue relaxed slightly and let her shoulders droop a bit, but she kept a wary eye on this cervitaur. No way was she going to drop her guard around him.
Yue sighed a little and glanced at the stranger. "'Ow do I know I c'n tr'st yoo?" The centauress held her arms and unconsciously shivered from the cold, but she stopped and got another view of the cervitaur. His hair was an odd arrangement of colors that were somewhat pleasing to Yue's eyes compared to the glaring snow, and he seemed very muscular and strong... Yue bit her lip so hard to stop her thoughts that she felt a small bead of blood trickle out of her lip. She hastily wiped it away with her thumb and perked her ears when she heard the word "flowers." Yue turned towards the stranger with interest.
"F'ow'rs? Wha' 'bou' t'em? I really l'ke f'ow'ers." Quiyue smiled a little and laughed awkwardly as the cervitaur continued on about fish. "Well, I l'ke eat'n' fish, bu' not act'ally fishin' f'r th'm." She looked at the cervitaur, interested now that she learned his name. It did ring a bell somehow. "Lyn...don? Lynd'n? I... I do r'co'gnize th' name from a long t'me ago, bu' I don' t'ink tha' you're th' taur I met wit' tha' name... I mean, it's b'n a long time, an' he's prob'bly ch'nged." Yue smiled, embarrassed. "M' n'me's Qiu... Qiuyue, 'f it 'elps yoo."

Lyndon perked up with interest. "Than we have met! I knew I knew you~" he said in a sing-songy voice. He had could never forget a face. Or at least that's what he told himself. His hair bounced gently as he gave himself a make-shift parade. "And you do like fish! Then I have a surprise for you!" He dashed of quickly into the snow covered trees' slightly bumping one on his way. He picked up his net of fish and rushed back to Qiuyue.
As he emerged from the trees once more, fresh white snow fell on him from the tree's top. He staggered for a moment, but gracefully made it back to the Qiuyue. Lyndon dropped the net on the ground beside her. "Your name is Qiuyue, right?" He had been in such a rush of excitement that he wasn't sure. The snow that was still on him started to drip down his face, sending a shiver down his spine. He brushed away the snow and laughed excitedly, "It's a little cold, do you want to help me build a fire?" He felt comfortable around her, like he had known her all his life. He hoped that his 'obsession' with fish hadn't freaked her out. "We can cook the fish if you're hungry?" He smiled wide and full of joy, his eyes became as that of a child's when they have found a new friend to play with.

Qiuyue couldn't help but laugh at Lyndon's enthusiasm. He seemed so happy that he confirmed that the two knew each other. Yue was still a little apprehensive around the cervitaur, but she was slowly warming up to him, that much she could tell. Another chilly wind picked up and Yue pulled a lock of hair behind her ears. Even if she didn't actually know this Lyndon, he was nice enough and certainly charming. As he bounded off for whatever reason, Qiuyue found that she did sort of recognize his face. It was probably from a long time ago, she thought, If I can't remember him after all this time.
Qiuyue watched as Lyndon returned with a large net filled with wriggling fish. The centauress' eyes were open with surprise. "Did... did yoo ca'ch all o' these fish? Tha's 'maz'ng!" Yue smiled at Lyndon and saw some white in his hair. Her smile turned into a small frown. "'Re yoo 'kay? Did som' snow fall on ya?" He looked cold, so Yue walked over to him and started brushing a bit of the snow off of his hair with her sweater sleeve. Lyndon was a good bit taller than herself, but it didn't matter to Yue. She smiled. "Mm, a fire w'uld b' good. It's real c'ld." Her body shivered as to almost prove her point.
Qiuyue smiled at Lyndon's obvious obsession with fish. Maybe he's a professional fisher... But she shook her thoughts away at the next thought of a warm fire. And fire needed firewood. She turned to the cervitaur. "D' we h've f'rewood?"

Lyndon blushed at the complement. "Yea, I caught them," he brushed the back of his neck lightly with his hand, "But it's not amazing." he smirked. Or maybe it is amazing! He bubbled excitedly on the inside. He seemed to radiate this feeling. Qiuyue had suddenly reached for his face. Guess she's going to tell me off... but instead of hitting him and running away, she brushed the snow out of his hair. "T-thank you..." his face burned with embarrassment. "I-I um..." he cleared his throat. "I'll go find some firewood, I hadn't planned on it being this cold out." He looked up at the sky, the clouds where gathering. It looked like fresh snow would soon fall.
"So, Qiuyue, you want to look for some firewood with me?" Soon after that comment he mentally slapped himself. What if she thinks I'm coming on to her? she shook these thoughts from his mind. "I mean, you can look over there or something if you want!" he blushed and turned away. Smooth moves Mr. Idiot! He stared off into the woods to keep him from making any more idiotic moves.

Quiyue smiled kindly at Lyndon's thanks for brushing to snow out of his hair. "'S no p'obl'm. We're c'ld enough w'thou' snow fall'n' on us!" As she smiled, Yue managed to spot the blush appearing from Lyndon. Suddenly, she realized how close she was to him and she quickly stepped back, her own cheeks filling with color slightly. She became so immersed in her thoughts that she failed to see a few small snowflakes beginning to fall from the now clouded sky. At last she came back down to earth and smiled awkwardly at Lyndon. "Yeah... 'kay."
Yue started to walk around aimlessly, sort of searching for some dry firewood, and she turned to Lyndon. "Umm.... Sur', I'll go w'th yoo." Her eyes were slightly turned away and she could feel a small blush appearing when she heard the cervitaur said next. It made her stop in her tracks. "All... all r'ght t'en..." She watched him dash away into the snow. For a few seconds, Qiuyue watched the spot where Lyndon ran off to. As the snow came down a bit thicker, the palm of her hand met her forehead. Yue, you idiot, she thought, and she dashed in the direction that Lyndon went. Once she caught up with him, she was out of breath and was clutching her sides in pain. "I... I'll.. come.. wit' yoo..."

Quiyue had caught up to him, quickly. Her breathing was labored and she was clutching her sides. "Are you ok?" his voice was filled with worry. He grabbed her shoulders and sat her down by a nearby tree. "Don't worry about it! I'll get some firewood in no time! Just... stay here..." his smile wavered a bit, but he quickly composed himself. "I'll be right back!" he trotted off into the woods, gathering loose branches and fallen wood that were close. His arms soon bared the weight of a decent amount of firewood. As he returned to Quiyue, the snow started to fall hard.
"Are you alright?" he said between short breaths. He looked over Quiyue with worried eyes, but set aside those thoughts. She can take car of herself! She doesn't need me looking after her like she's my child! he sighed and shivered. The wind was starting to pick up quiet a bit and the snowfall had increased greatly. Lyndon adjusted his jacket on his shoulders with a little struggle. Snow started to land and melt in his hair and antlers. Maybe we should get out of this snow... he thought to himself.

Qiuyue's sides felt like they were on fire after running so quickly. She took long, slow breaths to stop the pain, but after a minute, she had to sit down. "I... M' sides... hurt..." She was so focused on the pain in her sides that she was caught completely by surprise when Lyndon grabbed her shoulders to steady her. His hands were firm but gentle, and they coaxed a fierce blush from Qiuyue's cheeks. Her eyes gravitated towards the ground and they stared for a while as Lyndon had her sit down. Her ears failed to hear what the cervitaur said next and when she regained her composure, Lyndon was gone and Yue was left alone.
After a second or a minute or maybe a few minutes, Qiuyue's blush started to dissipate and she started to get a small grasp of what she felt at that moment when Lyndon held her. She felt... safe. It was hard to explain, but she somehow... liked it. Yue shook her head violently and bit her lip so it bled again, hoping that this action would block those thoughts from her mind. He followed you without you knowing, she reminded herself. He was practically stalking you! So what if you MAY have met him a few years ago! Who knows what could happen in that time?! Don't trust him! Inwardly, Qiuyue sighed. But he's been so kind and thoughtful to me... Never mind that! Don't trust him! ...Not yet. While her thoughts were battling in her mind, Lyndon returned and forced both sides to the back of Yue's consciousness. The centauress regarded her friend with a small smile.
"Mm, I'm f'ne. Did yoo g't th' f'rewood?" Stupid move, one of the voices told Yue. You can obviously see the wood in his hands! But Yue shook away the thoughts. She could see in Lyndon's eyes that he was worried about her. A larger smile appeared. "I's all r'ght. I'm f'ne, b'leeve me. T'ough..." Yue glanced up towards the darkening sky and watched the snow fall faster and heavier. "...We shoold f'nd s'me shelt'r or s'mewh're dry f'r th' f're."

Lyndon shivered uncomfortably. "I think I saw a cave on my way over here..." he thought back. He was pretty sure that there was some shelter nearby. He looked toward the net of fish. It was being buried with the oncoming snow. The sharp wind nipped at his coat and sent another shiver down his spine. "Come on. We need to get out of here before we're frozen in the snow." he laughed and went to grab his net of almost frozen fish. He juggled them back up to where Qiuyue sat before tripping and dropping the fish and firewood.
"Um...." he shrugged. Apparently embarrassed at dropping the net at firewood where Qiuyue's sat. "Could you possibly carry the firewood?" he picked up the net and motioned for Qiuyue to pick up the wood. "I can't seem to carry them both in this wind. We should get going." he looked her in the eyes, "Are you ok? I could take you first and come back for the rest." he rubbed the back of his head, a little nervous.

Qiuyue's ears perked up slightly. "A c've? Tha'd be p'rfect f'r a t'mpor'ry sh'lt'r." Yue was growing more and more confident in Lyndon by the minute, and she nodded as she stood up in the snow. Her tail twitched as snow got caught in it and she shifted her weight from her left hooves to her right hooves to try and keep warm. Her eyes followed Lyndon and she couldn't help but chuckle a little bit as he tripped, but she regained her composure and walked over. She reached out his hand to him to help him up.
"Shoore, I'll g't th' f'rewood." Yue pulled her sweater sleeves down so they covered her hands and she brushed some of the snow off of the wood and proceeded to pick them up. She stood up and faced Lyndon. "'M fine, really. How 'bout t'is: you an' I w'll go t' the cave an' I'll stay th're and m'ke the f're wh'le you git th' rest. 'Kay?" Yue smiled at her friend. "Lets go b'fore we f'eeze."
