Yup, everyone has an amazing level up, found all the hidden teasures and opened all the chest, two hours have gone by, then the boss kills the main character...
Any epic lose stories you'd like to share? (sorry if this is a double post) But seeing how this is Fire Emblem we're talking about, we probably have that one ultimate defeat...

When I just start the game, and I trade off all of Marcus' items...
He dies first hit.
It's hard to sell your items to make money to buy the same items when you have that b***h, Marcus, on your side.

Ah, I forgot what stage it was but when you're fighting Maurim in PoR
I'd swept the entire desert area, gotten Stephan and most of the items, killed all laguz... or so I thought
apparently one untransformed one has snuck in between my party and suddenly transformed, killing Rolf as I was setting up ti kill Maurim.
I didn't play the game for 2 months
I'm such a sore loser lol

I've had Yuria commit suicide on Celice on the final chapter of FE4 once or twice.
I tried picking up the pieces and moving on after 1 of those. Did the remainder of the chapter perfectly.
...
Yurius 2 shots Celice.
...
So I use the Battlesave that FE4 has and load....
...
Yurius 2 shots Celice.
...
I try again for a 3rd time:
...
Yurius 2 shots Celice.
Yeah. Moral of that story: Don't even bother trying to beat it with Celice. Make sure to have Yuria ALIVE for the Yurius battle.

The first attempt to play through FE razz oR on normal mode I played all the way to the final battle... and Ashnard was the last enemy on the field...
(Ike was maxed out of EXP too btw)
Ike dies..... Restart battle...
Ike dies..... Restart battle...
Ike dies..... Restart battle...
Ike dies..... Restart battle...
Ike dies..... >.<
so now I am trying to restart from chapter 1 this time on Hard and ALL the stat boost items I find along the way will go to Ike. I don't care what it is, He just needs to stay alive.

So, I'm playing level 9 in the Lagdou ruins, (I know, I lost in FE8, I'm a noob) I have gotten all 8 of my favorite units maxed out in levels, & in a lot of their stats. Then, three of the Arch Mogalls use Shadowshot on Cormag, mind you he has 60 HP, & average resistance. Each one has about a 30% hit rate, & every single one of them hits. Cormag dies & I'm like FUUUUUUUUUUUUU.... So I restart chapter to find all of my units lvl 10 or lower. I was pissed!

I had HECTOR of all people get killed because I forgot to heal him. I can't remember against what boss though, but I know only a boss could hurt Hector that bad.

Chapter 26 of PoR: Normal Mode.
There is a paladin with 2 HP left. I move Tormod (who's still a level 7-8 mage because that game has mages/sages out the wazoo) over to see what kind of damage he can do.
Ok, 3 damage if it hits. That's enough to kill. The paladin will kill him if he misses, but he has an 80% hit rate and the experience is worth the risk to me.
Despite that 80% hit rate...Tormod misses. And then dies. And then Janaff is killed next turn.
Reset.

These stories all broke my heart. I feel like I have to give you all some sort of magic time-regaining potion that let's you not lose whoever much patience of time spent on these things! >.<

I would FML from something from FE4, but the Valkyrie Staff is repairable I just totally found out (so a ClaudexFury with Sety holding the Bargain Ring sort of fixes any death up in Gen. 2) so I'll FML from everyone's favourite: FE5. I was doing a savestateless runthrough, and I got to the second last chapter, the gaiden one and after many rage resets, I finally figured out where all the mindblowing teleportation FUUUUU-'s were and after battling my way through the field/hellhole, I was just about to make my grand escape when out of nowhere, a Dark Bishop came out of the darkness and shat on Leaf. D:<
I think for future plays, Funf can be her tragic self if anyone gets my non-spoiler FE5 FML.

Okay, so I bought PoR when it first came out and got about halfway through it. Then I got a little bored and put it aside for a while (okay, I got frustrated trying to do a perfect playthrough of the prison level with Volke). Then I got Radiant Dawn and to my surprise I find you can carry over the save! Well, I had a little (lot) more than half the game to go but with a week off I figured eh, why not give it a shot? So I ran through the whole game in a few days, no deaths, maxing out as many characters as I could (including Sothe who is useless in this game), savescumming, the works, so I could get a better team for RD. I go to transfer and guess what?
I had apparently started on Easy. To those unaware, one cannot carry over an easy file from PoR into RD.
I found out later I was playing my little brother's save. MINE is still in Volke's prison where it can rot in hell for all I care. I beat the game.
Maybe if I have another week off I can try again.

I have numerous, NUMEROUS epic fail stories, but one time in FE10 during the final part on Ike's second mission I had opened all the doors and chests in that gigantic mansion. All my units were pwning the heck out of Oliver's until a bishop had the audacity to cast sleep on Ike and, of course, he falls asleep. Then a bunch of units run up and hit him while I'm sending all my remaining units to help him since I can't wake him up since I never bother having a restore staff when I really need it.
So then I think Nailah fell asleep and eventually Ike died at the end...Oh, and I vaguely recall Muarim and Tormod dying several times before that since the game just had to bring these guys back in where they're severly overpowered...-sigh- It was on hard difficulty I think, but not as horrible as the late Dawn Brigade chapters...Michaich (I can never spell her name right)...get some speed.. >.<
