Miiiiine.
Miiiiiiiiiiiiine.
Miiiine, wake up!
"Don't whine," Ma'k chided good-naturedly, cracking one eye open to look at his dragon. The brownrider had been dozing while his dragon relaxed in the Springs; he should have known that he wouldn't get much of a nap, though. Even when it wasn't one of their designated rock-hunting days, Kassieth couldn't resist looking for rocks to add to his collection. Hardly a day went by without his partner thinking he saw something that might be worth having - of course, upon further inspection, he usually decided that he didn't want it, but he had to be sure of these things! Such was life with Kassieth.
Now that he had his rider's attention, he deposited a mouthful of spring-bottom on the ground next to Ma'k for his inspection.
It's not even Rock Day, Kass, he complained, but sat up to have a look anyway.
I know, said Kassieth, But just one pile. Since we are here?

Great, grand, wonderful. Special, glorious, stupendous.
There was someone else already in the springs. Yulu's mind started to spit out different things at her as she slowly approached the warm waters, her muscles aching from hard days of doing things she complained about in her sleep, but it was too late for her to turn back and go away. She'd already stripped down to the bare requirements that were needed in order to enjoy a nice soak, and the little Gold that shivered in her arms seemed to demand that they do indeed go in and get warm.
. . . .
She could honestly just go back anyway and come here at another time, though if she did that it would be like admitting defeat. Another choice would be to get in quickly and soak until this other person left, though memories of a bad decision happening earlier in the Turn haunted her into changing her mind over that.
. . . . . whatever.
Giving up on all other reason, basically even more when she watched the weird dragon come up and cough stones up near his rider, Yulu simply strode out and into the shallows of the hot spring. The flit she held in her arms gave a tiny chirp of surprise at the temperature change, though she settled quickly, and Yulu let her torso sink in down to her shoulders.
"Nnnn....amazing."

Hmph. Company. Ma'k glanced away from the pile for a moment to see who it was, and when it turned out to be someone he didn't know, settled for a nod of acknowledgement before looking back. His dragon's little hobby was...eccentric, to say the least, and he was well aware of it but unbothered. He was used to it by now.
What he never had been able to figure out, though, was why people talked to themselves when they weren't alone. Sure, the hot springs were nice, but he'd never felt the urge to announce the obvious to the world at large. Of course, he had a dragon to mention trivial things to if he ever felt the need, so that might have had something to do with it.
Wait, Kassieth said, causing his rider to pause. That one. Let me see it better.
Dutifully, the man cleaned the potential find and held it up.

While Yulu probably had little to no interest in what the man and his dragon were doing, her eyes closed and her mind focused on merely relaxing in the warm waters, it was the little Gold flit that was in her company who held the interest. Song slowly moved herself out of Yulu's arms, enough that she could wiggle her way into the open waters, and with a chirp of questioning she tried to ask the massive large big cousin what it was he was doing.
Yulu only opened her eyes at the sound of the chirp, not really venturing to turn her head, but since Song didn't seem to be terrified at the moment she wouldn't have to move or do anything to prevent a fiasco from occurring. So long as the happiness continued to be felt in her mind, she could relax.
It didn't really occur to the young woman that if her flit didn't like flying she may not like swimming either, and as soon as Song's back feet left any part of Yulu she started to sink like a rock, feelings of distress and panic taking over the happy curiosity. Yulu quickly turned and looked to see where the little one had gone, and with an equal amount of panic she moved to try and grab Song from the water and into the air.
"Shard it Song!"
The woman herself went back under the water as she managed to get her flit out, and after a few moments emerged red-faced and holding a sputtering Gold. Not exactly one of her more graceful moments.

No, that is not a good one after all, Kassieth was just deciding as the flit got curious, only to...sink? The little gold flit didn't know how to swim! That was especially peculiar, he thought, even for a firelizard. He'd always been rather glad Ma'k didn't have any - not that he minded them, particularly, they were just so...busy.
Ma'k hid a momentary grin behind his hand as he scratched a non-existent itch on his face. He could have ignored it. He really could have. But what was the point? He'd obviously seen what happened. He didn't poke fun, though, just asked, "She okay?"

Yulu coughed a bit to get the excess water out of her mouth and lungs, thankful that she hadn't kept her mouth open when she lunged for the tiny Gold, and when it finally seemed she had gotten everything up she became aware of the question shot her way. Her head turned to get a better look at the man, eyes burning a little from the sudden introduction of water to them.
". . . She seems fine. I didn't think she'd try to flounder in the water, but considering she's never even tried to fly from my shoulders it shouldn't have been something odd to me."
Song for her part mewled piteously in Yulu's arms, her head pressed underneath Yulu's bosom in an effort to seek company. It was a silly thing to do, but it made her feel safe.

"Always thought they could swim," Ma'k noted absently, tossing the rejected rock into the water. He'd never had much to do with firelizards, as they'd never really appealed to him. Sort of frivolous little things, he figured, but he could see the appeal they might have for the dragonless.

"I thought so too, but it seems like she may be an exception to all of that. I should probably take her to a Beastmaster eventually to see what her problem really is, but I don't really want to deal with that kind of thing. They ask entirely too many questions for my taste and then half the time end up too arrogant."
Yulu was rubbing Song's chest with her fingers, trying to calm the flit down a little. The Gold was producing such feelings of unhappiness still that Yulu's mood was beginning to sour, and she wanted to stay here longer so she believed such things had to be improved.
"I suppose all dragons can naturally swim though?"

"I've never known of one that can't," Ma'k answered, offering up another rock for his dragon to inspect. He only occasionally looked over at the girl, as he was focused on Kassieth's little project, but he listened and spoke readily enough - if not at length. "There's probably some that don't like to, I suppose, but Kassieth certainly doesn't mind it."

"I see. My contact with dragons is fairly limited, obviously, so there's many things about them I still don't know...but I'd hate to keep bothering you during your bath with questions, so I'll stay silent."
If she sounded sarcastic, Yulu wasn't trying to be, it just sort of happened to sound that way.

"We don't mind. Huh, Kass?" Tossing another rock away, he patted his brown on the nose.
Not if you don't, Mine.
"We've never had much to do with any queens, though." And if she was a girl and a candidate, then that was what she'd need to know about - or should, anyway. There were a few too many females getting strange ideas lately, by his way of thinking. "My boy's not interested."

"I could care less over a Queen as well. Those dragons are only revered because of their hides and their ability to produce eggs, though I'm sure if Greens were able to clutch it'd be an entirely different story. People wouldn't know what to do with all the Dragons we'd having running around then."
Yulu had to reassure the flitt in her arms that her dislike and lack of interests in Queens referred only to the dragons, not towards Song herself, as the little one had cheeped out of sadness at the dislike her person was saying!
"I'd rather for a Blue if I could have my way."
